We have the Nighthawk Tow Bar attached to a Class C... and when we hook up, one of the levers might not be locked... so is it ok to pull the TOAD (at slow speed) with the RV turning the RV Steering Wheel side to side... until the lever drops into place? At slow speed of course.
Absolutely, no issue with doing that.
Hi, have you ever had a problem were the bowl won’t fill with water or empty of course. The valve is good but wondered about the solenoid on it if that could be the culprit? Any help would be e greatly appreciated. Thanks
Why my macerating toilet won’t hold water in the bowl? Putting water in the bowl the water drains out. There is no seals so what holds the water in the bowl?
The discharged tube, (in back of the toilet) will have a anti siphon valve near the top of the discharge tube, in some cases the valve sticks closed which then causes a vacuum, and the water in the bowl can be siphoned out. It can be cleaned very easy normally with low pressure compressed air. You are correct, there is no seals in a macerating toilet.
What was the cost to upgrade your system? I have the same on my rig and I'm ready to get in line for this!
You will need LiquidSpring directly and give them the serial of your system, then they can give you the exact cost, for parts and labor. Thanks for watching!
Can an old rear only system utilize?
No, it has to be a the front and rear (4) corner suspension to utilize tru earth,
Did you do the 2 rear tires or all 4. From your description of the ride it sounds like all 4.
4 corner, I will be going back to have the TRU-Earth aka Campsite leveling hardware and software installed, That's going to be very cool, will be doing a video on it. They will also be conducting a full inspection, I have over 1000 miles now on the suspension. I'm still very pleased.
Have this model toilet. When we flush the incoming fresh water does not shut off and spills onto the floor. Any suggestions?
It could be the control board on the side of the toilet. It controls the 2 different flush modes, (Dry Bowl flush) or (Regular Flush) it also controls the time that the 12-volt water valve stays open. I would give Dometic tech support call. 1-800-544-4881 OPT 1
There has to be better breaking systems out there that don’t have that big box sitting on the floor in front of the driver seat. Just seems like old technology to me.
There are also fixed mounted units, I change vehicles a lot, so I'm not going thru the cost and my labor to fix mount them. The technology for the portable unit is actually very high tech, uses accelerometers, pitch sensors, and is 100% proportional braking. Depending on the towed vehicle braking system. It can set set for eigher vacuum braking or active/regenerative braking. Only a few supplemental braking units on the market that have this capability.
I'd like to know more about the black tubing part you showed and particularly the small white vent looking thing, its purpose, the fail rate, and symptoms of it when it's not functioning properly. Thanks
It called a Duckbill, basically it's a one way valve, will let liquid waste out but not back flow back, as well as any smell. The Duckbill is made from rubber. The fail rate is extremely low.
@thecasualrver the small white part atop the black tubing looks like anti siphon valve. I understand the assembly must be replaced if it fails. I'm getting odor through mine as I think it's stuck open.
@@phillipc4865, If the duckbill/anti siphon valve has failed, the toilet will not hold water, if the toilet is holding water, odors can't get passed the water, if that makes and sense. If you are having odor you should check the black and gray tank vents, as well as the black tank flush anti backflow valve.
Thanks for the tour. I've been waiting for these vids. Gonna go watch some more.
Thanks Sherri and John, I appreciate that!
Hi. I have a2007 gas Motorhome and a GMC Sierra 1500. Before to buy blue ox equipment I would like to be sure if everything is going to be good. How do you feel when you are driving your motorhome. Do you feel is like too heavy to pull your pick up 😮truck ? I checked the capacities in the coach plate and is ok but my question is only about your experiences on the road. I’m sorry but I’m beginner. Thank you
No need to be sorry, we all were new to this at one time. I would need to see the GVWR and the GCWR of your 2007 gas coach, with that said, just from knowing that year of gas coaches, I would say yes it's too heavy. Your GMC Sierra 1500 is a 4X4 correct?
Our pedal stop broke for this model and need to repair. From what I understand there is no replacement and have to purchase an entirely new toilet at over 2k? Please help if you know of a replacement part that can be used instead. Thanks for any help in advance
Unfortunately they just don't sell the base, I would check with AquaStar Distributors The might be able to sell at a far less cost. www.aquastardistributors.com/product-category/toilets-and-replacement-parts/macerating-toilets-and-parts/
@@thecasualrver Thank you appreciate the reply
Hello John, great video about the macerator. I have an 2015 Newmar Dutch Star with an Dometic toilet with a macerator. Over the last several months, I noticed the water in the toilet would slowly drain out after use. I assumed it was a seal gone bad but after taking the toilet apart, I could see the leak in / at the macerator. I took out the macerator and filled it with water and it is leaking on the underside of the blades through to the motor drive shaft. I assume there is a rubber o ring or gasket under the blades around the shaft. Does the white cap on the blades come off? Can the blades come off? If so, what kind of tool do you need? Your help/knowledge is much appreciated.
There are no seals not like the typical gravity dump or Vacuflash that holds the water in, The macerator pump is not serviceable, the pump itself would need to be replaced. I would contact AquaStar Distributors they only carry OE Dometic parts plus they are great to talk to about the issue. www.aquastardistributors.com/product-category/toilets-and-replacement-parts/macerating-toilets-and-parts/
That’s what I figured. Thank you, John.
The Ford F-53 RV chassis is just a delivery truck suspension. Look at the model T, and you will find the same suspension. I was some what horrified the first time I rolled under the RV to see what was actually there. The cost of the LiquidSpring is small compared to the cost of a new RV with a good suspension system. I don't drive my RV very far, and I've learned to avoid the poorly maintained roads or I would spring for it.
Yep, we like the coach, (2020 HR Vacationer 35K) floor plan, and power. But the ride comfort, handling and stability was it's shortcomings. Not anymore. We are now Happy Campers.
Never heard of liquid springs.
Kevin, liquid spring has been in the suspension business for over 20 years, their suspensions are on 97% of all type 1 and type 3 ambulance and paramedic vehicle. Thanks for watching!

Zack & Linda,Thanks for your comment and for watching!
Is it alright to use regular toilet paper in our 7640 Master Flush toilet? We have heard it would be ok but want to make sure before we start. Thanks
I would recommend using rapid dissolving 2 ply, septic safe TP, the main reason is they don't use a glue to bound the 2 sheets together.
What do you during the winter? I am full time and don't want to store it until the Spring.
If you are using it when the outside temperature is below 32*f for an extended period of time, 4 plus hours, you could have freezing issues just like any water system that is exposed to freezing temps. I would recommend filling your freshwater tank, and put the unit inside until the temps go above 32*f. Anything above 32* you are good, no need to do anything.
What happens if you need 8 for the rv and 4 for the toad.
The system will support up to 14 sensors.
Could I have ruined the fins on the motor with one pod?
That depends, if the toilet is still flushing properly now, then it should be ok, just remember, make sure they are 100 % dissolved before flushing.
HI, thanks, great video. Two questions: 1. Are you still happy with the RVi3 breaking system? 2. Why did you move away from the break buddy?
I'm still very satisfied with the complete system. A few reasons, I have the RVi TPMS (Tire Patrol) system, their Towed vehicle battery charger, and their RVi tablet and hup unit, the RVi 3 Brake pairs with the tablet, I can control it all from the one tablet. One other reason is the RVi3 Brake has the latest technology, as well as 'Brake Lock Detection'.
Great video with excellent tips! Will be adding the velcro straps and stabilizer to our tow setup. Nice to see another video from you.
Nicely done. Thank you for posting this video,
Thanks for watching Robert.
Hi John, All fantastic tips! I do pretty much everything the same as you. The only thing I didn’t have was the Velcro on the 7 & 6 pin connectors. I already have the Velcro in my shop supplies so I’ll be adding it to my flat towing setup.
Thanks Jeff, I appreciate you watching, hope all is well.
For someone with a new macerator toilet, I found this to be quite helpful. Thank you!
Thanks for watching Robert.
Is it ready to go out of the box?
Basically yes, I would run a few gallons of water through it first before using.
i am in need of the charging cables that connect the hub to power and the tablet to power, ido not see those items available for sale anywhere.
You need a USB-A to Micro USB cable, make sure it's a (Micro) and not a mini cable.
John,Would the float valve controls the water coming in after a flush? The water keeps running and filling to overflowing. Great video
No, It only controls the toilet 12-volt operation, What brand, model and year coach do you have?
@@thecasualrver alliance 385fl 2021
15:19 you mentioned you connect the rvi brake directly to the battery. How do you do that? When ignition is not on there is no power to the cigarette lighter.
Correct, I used a 15-amp (fused) 18-gauge wire 12-volt adapter hooked directly to the Ranger's battery, The 12-volt power ports in the Ranger goes into battery saver mode (power shuts off) after 20 minutes from the ignition being shut off.
The speedometer accumulate miles while you’re towing
No, the ignition must be in the off position. When the the transmission is in neutral the key can be in the off position and will not lock the steering wheel.
Does the RVi tablet come with the purchase of the RVi braking system
No, that would be purchased separately.
Been watching these flat tow vehicles and am coming to the realization that the system will only work with a nearly new towed vehicle that is specifically made for the application. Got an older vehicle & the only way to do it is with a tow dolly or a trailer. Flat tow will not work at all. No way to make the brakes work.
You are correct, the vehicle must be flat tow capable, there are many olders vehicles that can, it must have the correct transmission and or transfer case.
@@thecasualrver Yes, I can't bring myself to tow a new or nearly new vehicle, too much at risk. I realize the manual transmission limitation & manual transmissions are a rarity in the US unless it is a 4wd or RWD truck. Passenger cars with manuals are almost non existence except for some VWs, Fiats & the occasional Corolla.I'm committed to using a tow dolly only.
You have a beautiful class A ! We saw you commenting on another RV channel and decided to check your channel out. We are looking at getting some pads for pads for our class A this year since we stay at some harvest host with various types of ground. We were looking at Snap Pads but we would save some money going with Stromberg. Do you still like them? Loved how you ended with such beautiful advice! We have subscribed and hope to see you on the road! Oh also were you considering Snap Pad ?
@Just Ramblin' Around, I do still like the shoes and pads, thousands of miles now on them and many campgrounds. They are holding up great. I looked at Snap pads, but I like the design of Stromberg Shoes and that they are made with EPDM molded rubber, the engineering behind them is totally different from snap pads. Let me know what pad you go with. Thanks for watching and commenting.
@@thecasualrver Thanks for the response and we will keep you posted! until then we will keep watchin keep Ramblin Around!
What's the cost of the complete brake system .
About $1600 for the portable RVi3 unit, then if you want you can buy a bundle the for $1920 which includes RVi3 brake, commend center, hub and 10 TPMS sensors.
Thank you! Any tips for when you get a clog? That’s happened a couple times. Ahem, someone (not me) tends to need to flush a few times.
Thanks for watching Dorothy, Water is the toilets best friend, so you need to add more water to the bowl and flush a few times. I will tell guess how to use the system, that it's not like the toilet in your home.
Quick question for you my friend and thanks for the helpful vids they are much appreciated. You helped answer a question here about 6 months ago and I now have a different issue that has arisen so hoping you could help. I noticed that our foot pedal is now pointing straight up vertical so it’s hard to even grab without a weird angle with the foot to press it. The toilet is also flushing inconsistent as a result with some flushes using the added water and others being the dry flush without doing anything different at all. I am assuming this is related to the position the pedal is now in and wondering how it got there and if there is a way to get it back to the standard position? Any help is greatly appreciated once again. Thanks so much, Jake G
Thanks for watching Jake, The foot pedal has a spring that returns the pedal, what happened is there is a plastic tab stop (on the foot pedal) that has broken allowing the pedal to go almost to the 90 degree angle. This is a common issue. Call Dometic and see if they will send you a new assembly.
Very thorough review on the installation video. Appreciate it. Thank you.😊
Thanks for watching Ricky.
why does the 8" drop hitch stick out so far ? Even the towbar seems to be sticking out further then it really needs to be. Seems to me it would be a much sturdier if you weren't sticking out 2 foot fro the back of the coach.
That's where the drop receiver lock pin hole is drilled, The Blue Ox drop receiver in that configuration, has a rating of 5000 lbs. tow capacity and a 500 lb tongue rating. The distance is not too far out. The closer the towed vehicle is to the rear of the coach will reduce your turning radius.
@The Casual RVer It's usually about 5'0 from the rear of MH to front of the TOAD. With a setup like your sticking out that far creates more downward stress on the drop receiver. Think of it like this: you have more leverage with a 24" breaker bar than you do with a standard length box end wrench. Yes, your hitch is rated for 5000 lbs, but with the added Equipment hanging so far out and down I can't believe that you still can maintain that 5000 pounds weight limit. IMHO
@@fredr8213, So the distance from the end cap of the coach to the front bumper is 5'5" I have been conducting neutral tow product development durability testing for 28 years as a mechanical engineer PE. I'm will aware of road loads, geometry, and stresses. Yes it still maintain that 5000 pounds weight limit. Safe Travels.
@The Casual RVer Well, l worked for 35 yrs as a Tool & Die maker. I've worked closely with engineers my whole career. With your setup, you have created weak stress points with everything sticking out like that. On this one, we can agree to disagree. Safe travels to you as well
14 min tooooooo long.
Omg we have had a brand new super C coach that we have had in for Repair because the toilet hasn’t worked ! NO ONE not salesperson, or service tech could tell us how this toilet works! Hoping by using your reprogramming tip will Solve our problem!
Hope it works, Thanks for watching! Safe Travels
Is that ranger free floating axles? Check if the trans needs fluids when towing flat. Not many vehicles can flat tow long distance. Jeeps and straight axles can.
@alive, The Ranger 4x4 has front open differential, and rear drive with electronic locking differential. It's does not have floating axles. The 2-speed transfer case disengages both front and rear driveshafts, and transmission when placed in neutral tow mode. No need to check the transmission before flat towing, there is not distance or a speed requirement when flat towing the Ranger. I don't go over 65 MPH.
great video! I'm trying to replace my macerator due to the shaft seal leaking. I can't get the new macerator sealed up to the rubber gasket like piece that mates to the 90 degree chute under the bowl. I've tightened down the hose clamps but it still leaks. Is there something I can use to seal this better? How tight should should the hose clamps be? Thanks
Hello Ben, The large hose clamp only needs to be sung. Don't over tighten the clamp, it can distort the pump housing. Before replacing any parts I recommend pulling the system apart again, cleaning the 90 degree chute inside flange and were they mate.
Hi John we have a 2020 HR Endeavor with macerator toilet it sometimes will not hold water and if you hold down and fill to top of pipe it will making a water dripping sound and water drains. Any ideas?
Hello Jeff, there's a good chance the air admittance check valve on the discharge hose is stuck closed. The valve should be on top the discharge hose. If it is stuck closed, it can cause a siphon effect.
At the top of the upper discharge tube there’s a rubber vacuum breaker valve that can get dusty. It opens during flush to allow air in as the effluent exits toward the bottom. If it doesn't seal, the toilet bowl will leak down. It can be cleaned by removing the back cover, mix a little dawn detergent with warm water. I use a small artist paint brush to spread this on the valve. Let it sit, take the paint brush and/or a soft tooth brush clean the valve gently, then a spray bottle of warm water only to wash off. Flush and spray the valve when it opens to get it clean. Worked for me. A little silicone spray on this valve might help also.
Good 👍
Thanks for watching!
Absolutely the best video on RUclips about these toilets! Thank you!
Thanks for watching @Cozy Living Machine!
Thanks for this video! What a beautiful coach. After more than two years, how is everything holding up? We just did a review of A 2023 Bounder 35K unit and I was very impressed by the initial quality!
Thanks! Everything is doing well, of course very minor things, just need a adjustment now and then.
Thank You for taking time to go through everything. You gave a few more tips then I watched on other videos. Have a great day
Thanks Thomas, Have a great day too!
At one point fairly early in your video you had in your hand the part that contains the anti-siphon valve. My question is when that anti-siphon valve starts to or totally fails what will the toilet user notice if anything? Overall your video was excellent so thanks for making it.
Yes, if the air admittance valve would happen to fail, the water in the bowl could siphon out right after the flush mode stopped.. Thanks for watching.
Thanks for the great video here John very informative and helpful information. I just recently returned from a vacation and dumped black water tank and flushed and confirmed empty on Precision Circuit Gauge. I went to add some happy camper powder as you recommend to keep tank fresh and toilet wouldn’t flush. I took covers off back of toilet and noticed a red light that would flash once when I tried to flush and nothing happened. I assume it’s the issue with the float from what you are describing here. Do you think it’s worth trying to flush the black water tank again to see if that fixes it before disconnecting the wire? Also, if last resort I have to disconnect the wire would there be harm in doing so? I assume it’s there for the reason of not overfilling your black water tank and this could lead to problems later on? What are your thoughts on this? Thanks in advance for any further help here
You can flush and drain again, and also shut off the Aux battery disconnect switch for 20 seconds, I most cases that will regain the flush function. If that still does not resolve the issue, then disconnecting the yellow wire will be necessary. You will need to monitor the black tank level closely once the yellow wire (s) have been disconnected. Hope this helps.
@@thecasualrver It helps a lot and confirms what I learned from your helpful videos. Thanks so much for your time, Jake G
I was so excited when I saw you had a new video out. Nice and simple setup. Thanks for sharing!
