Say, could you do a video comparing how on average, Autobot-Human Relations are positive in the cartoons and anime while things are far more hostile in the comics and live-action movies? The only exceptions for the latter category are the mini crossovers with stories like Star Trek, G I Joe, Ghostbusters, Back To The Future, and even My Little Pony. I mean, the Marvel and IDW Comics start with the interesting premise of humanity hating all sides in the war that’s killing them, but they never really change their stance towards the Autobots. How many times in those comics and in the movies have the Autobots fought and in some cases died for humanity? How many times have the Autobots demonstrated restraint while the Decepticons commit slaughter with happiness? Even in IDW when humanity joins the Council of Worlds, there is no real changing of public opinion until Unicron and Soundwave crying over Mainframe’s death. We never get to see Cybertronians and humans interact peacefully without hating each other the whole time. Heck, IDW 2019 and Skybound easily get points because we see positive relations between Autobots and Organics that are the rule and not rare exceptions in their universes. The cartoons and anime rarely if ever try to explore hostile relations between Autobots and humans, but I take no issue with that because we get positive stuff. In the comics and movies, we mostly just keep seeing humans trying to kill potential friends and it annoys me.
Ah yes, the true RiD. The one where they call out the most ridiculous attacks for everyone to hear, a shark has an identity crisis, and a car gets involved in a sexual harassment and stalking case with another car.

It is even called out that he's purposely making it up because he's not an actual machine and Cybertronians are alive and don't go through life cycles in a metamorphosing process and are fully functional once completely online. Sideburn even directly taunts that of course he made it up just to get a reaction out of the predacons because he's trying be painful so that they'll lose their temper and try to fight him where he would just escape. Honestly takes some serious guts and confidence to give away your entire game plan just to troll someone because you know they're already going to hurt you or try to kill you so you should go out making it as painful and long lastingly so as possible. He does so without fear or hesitation either so it's honestly hilarious just how much he doesn't care anymore. I believe it's actually the Starscream punching bag furry equivalent, Darkscream if I recall correctly who calls out everyone else for giving into the trolling. _Robots In Disguise_ (2001) is my second favorite Transformers series. Anyone *not* wanting to watch me go full fanboy over it, skip the rest of this post. XD .... I first watched it as a kid in college e.g. legally an adult. I went to the trouble of purchasing the Region 2 release of the series, since there wasn't a box set for it here in North America. Before having to sell them due to financial and personal issues, I owned a good chunk of RiD01 toys, including splurging for a the Korean release of this series' Fortress Maximus. I also had Megatron Megabolt, a figure originally designed for the _Beast Machines_ series but released as part of RiD01, and which could serve as an alternate head for Fort Max (as in it was engineered that way!). Though the best examples of the toyline - besides that - are the Spychangers and Omega Prime. The Spychangers are just small, simple Transformers designed to be compatible with Hot Wheels style playsets, but the animation claimed they were ninjas and yes please. Omega Prime is the combined form of RiD Optimus Prime and Ultra Magnus, and he's glorious. He has light and sound gimmicks that are designed to change based on whether you've got just Optimus, just Ultra Magnus, just Optimus in his armored up form, or the two of them together as Omega Prime... *and it doesn't detract from the transformation or poseability!* Yes, the toyline is relevant. It is part of what makes RiD01 so good, though one *can* still enjoy just the show on its own. Still, the toyline was a crazy mix of new molds and reused ones from as far back as G1 (if you count molds from G1 that were retooled and used in G2). While RiD01 continued the tradition of toys for characters who never made it into the show, the reason for it here is because this stopgap measure was a *massive* success. The toys sold well and stores wanted more product; not just more of the stuff they'd already sold, but new figures as well. So Hasbro grabbed whatever they thought would work and/or was easy. The only reason I had to go for a Korean Fortress Maximus is because the North American release for the figure was canceled due to it not surviving certain then-modern safety tests; the demand was there otherwise! For a slapdash project only released to buy time for _Transformers Armada_ to be ready, RiD01 has an unusual amount of *heart* to it. Well, heart and/or nerdy in-jokes that referenced other _Transformers_ series. *Two prime examples:* 1)Slapper complaining "What are we? Vehicon Drones?" when Sky-Byte takes credit for a Predacon group effort 2)The race car Skid-Z scanned was driven by Auggie Cahnay, the same name of the victory obsessed human race car driver in the G1 episode "Trans-Europe Express". While not every character stands out or is "the" version of that character, at the very least Scourge and Sky-Byte became iconic. In G1, we had an evil copy of Optimus Prime *and* a rival Decepticon semi-tractor trailer in darker colors (Motormaster), so the role Scourge fills didn't begin with him. It also didn't end with him, as the black repaint of Optimus Prime is almost a given in the toyline (and sometimes the associated fiction), though Hasbro realized he deserved a name of his own and thus we got the Nemesis Prime trope. Sky-Byte has been reused far, far less. I think only Cyberverse for cartoons. Still, they retroactively added him to G1/G2 lore in comics. The overarching plot isn't brilliant, but it *is* there and can be followed. I mean, back in the day it would have been even trickier; due to 9/11 happening, episodes were pulled from there intended slots to be redone because no one was sure what would freak out kids. Like holding up a collapsing building. >.> RiD2001 was my favorite series until _Transformers: Animated._ Which I wanted to mention because it establishes my tastes. I can understand why RiD2001 just wasn't for someone who loved (as opposed to simply "liked") Transformers: Prime. I'll probably rewatch Prime (and even 2015) again at some point in my life, because I'll probably attempt an all-encompassing watch/rewatch of Transformers one day, but outside of that... maybe for Knockout's best moments, or because a friend/family member enjoys it and wants to watch with me. (I've watched G1, RiD2001, and TFA multiple times through already, and probably will keep doing so periodically).
@4:20 The tracks are provided via the Global Space Bridge. I'm _not_ saying that makes sense, but that's the catch-all explanation for how everyone drives everywhere and anywhere in the series. Oh, and this series establishes nearly every Autobot has a "day job" where they pretend to be a normal vehicle as part of working with humanity and staying - *wait for it* - robots in disguise. XD
Lmao the clips you showed are (probably accidentally like you said) hilarious! I would love such a parody show about robots in disguise having goofy adventures
This is more memorable than RID2015, I legit struggle to remember moments that aren’t summarizing major season plot that gets reset once the seasons over
fun fact: in the spanish dub, optimus shares voice actors with captain hero from drawn together. there's also a bit of dialogue and regional latino american jokes with sky-byte unique to that dub.
Is character death is a dumb way to advance the plot? Make big mistakes that sit on the character's minds for years, like breaking the space bridge to almost beyond repair
Yeah, what's this about its necessary for characters to die in a story in order for it to be good? Regardless The fate all the preadacons but one suffer is much more horrifying then death. being trapped in the phantom zone-like prison, unable to escape or die, trapped in an empty void where the only thing they can do is scream helplessly for the rest of eternity.
@@Blanktester685The predacons Being imprisoned in a hellish dimension for the rest of eternity with no chance of escape if they fail seems like a pretty big stakes. On the other hand ir the autobots fail, Gigatron will take control of Brave Maximus and control all of space and time. Sounds like pretty big stakes to me.
3:17 - 3:39 Ok, at first when I was 12 or so I didn't even think about it. But now it looks creepy. It seems that the creators of this anime thought that this moment would not be so stupid for viewers as it is a kid show, so nothing bad will happen to a main character.

Hasbro dubbed Car Robots because Beast Machines underperformed and cancelled the Transtech toyline, after RID 2001 Hasbro & Takara decided to work together on the Unicron trilogy and after that they both went back to doing their own thing
Oh my gosh is knockout in both versions actually voiced by the same guy!? Edit: I think it actually is the same voice actor, According to Google at least, that's kinda cool actually
keep in mind, English dub removed 12 episodes which includes controversal tower falldown episode. JP called this show as Car Robot and it originally has 51 episodes.
No it didn't, it had 39 episodes, the same as RiD. The recap episodes were entirely different but there were the same number of them, and no other episode was entirely skipped (unless you count the ones that didn't air on US television because post-9/11, but those are part of the 39).
Certainly knew how to have fun and it had some decent drama and excitement, Galvatron holding earth’s children hostage with his cyberbats is pretty terrifying… shoot Takara used a similar plot 9 years prior in the Brave series and both are equally terrifying in how much control the villains had on the situation

Hi, Cool video! Honestly, I’ve never really known what to think of this series, but I had a good laugh at several moments.😅 Personally, this series is a bit like (metaphorically) a pizza where someone thought it would be a good idea to add sour candies on top of the cheese and ham. At first, it's unexpected, even fun, but after eating too much of it, you end up with a stomach ache and a sugar rush that hits your brain so hard you start wondering if you're high.😵💫So, it's tough to recommend it to someone else.😂
I recall watching this show but I never got around to finishing it (probably hit that point in my life where I started falling off the bandwagon with a lot of shows). I don't remember much aside from the flying shark and the fire intro music though lol
When i was a kid it was genuinely difficult for me to tell the difference between RID and Armada. then again, that was before i had glasses and i was usually playing when it was on, sooo... i guess i was more listening to transformers than watching it as a tyke. 😅
Megatron can not just stop turning into galvatron like in the unicron trilogy turned into him like 3 times and nobody referenced it 😂 at this point I am thinking he just got super amnesia or something.
14:29 well if you think of it they were scrapping the bottom of the barrel like i am with my own series. If rid 01 had another title I'd say transformers: bumblebee adventure.

At least we can all agree that RID 2001 had far better toys than RID 2015, and isn't that what's all about in the end?
14:51
Ok this is straight up Aligned Continuity bias. There is no way any other Transformers fan would rather watch RID15 over RID01 or worse yet recommend it over 2001. It's stuff like this that makes me less and less interested in the Aligned Continuity despite my nostalgia for the mediocrity that is Prime. And I actually like RID15 even if a tiny bit
You're right. I just wish RID 2015 had more redeeming parts to it, that made it like Prime.
This video feels like it was made because kumquat was tired of people saying rid2001 is better rid2015 so they made a hit piece on 2001 so people would stop referencing it.
@@diegodankquixote-wry3242 That is so invalid, bro. Like I'm not gonna say RID 2015 is better because it isn't.
@@diegodankquixote-wry3242that’s… pretty crappy reason, get fans hyped up with the video with mixed feelings only to just say it’s eh at best. Should’ve opened with their feelings if it was gonna be like that to set the expectations for the rest of the video
Kumquat is a rid2001 hater :/
Who could anyone hate tow-"no parking means no parking!"-line!
In the Latam Dub, Sky-Byte mentions that not even her Grandma said nice things about him.
LITERALLY JUST FINISHED THIS SHOW AND IT'S THE BEST THING EVER
After being exposed to the live action series this was one of the first TF shows I saw [thank you 2011 youtube]
I am a sky-byte fan until I die
_Robots In Disguise_ (2001) is my second favorite Transformers series. Anyone *not* wanting to watch me go full fanboy over it, skip the rest of this post. XD
....
*and it doesn't detract from the transformation or poseability!*
Yes, the toyline is relevant.
*Two prime examples:*
1)Slapper complaining "What are we? Vehicon Drones?" when Sky-Byte takes credit for a Predacon group effort
2)The race car Skid-Z scanned was driven by Auggie Cahnay, the same name of the victory obsessed human race car driver in the G1 episode "Trans-Europe Express".
With RID being your 2nd favorite ever heard of the Brave Series?
@@Xeno-The-Wanderer Yes. I need to watch it sometime, but I haven't yet. ^^'
@@KamisamanoOtaku You'll enjoy it when you get the time, least I hope so
@4:20 The tracks are provided via the Global Space Bridge.
Sky Byte makes RiD(2001) worth it. He's like James from Team Rocket without Jessie or Meowth
1:25 I like it how they added what past knockout in this show cuz he’s ever rarely mentioned in the other RID show
This show is genuinely so unintentionally funny I can’t help but love it.
But the humor is intentional! Car robots was also a comedic show!
Unintentional? This was the era where kids anime dubs frequently added ad libbed humor. Look at the Duel Masters dub.
I love this show so much better than 2015
I think, even that was better, than RID 2015 (in my opinion). At least, these three brothers were cute.
Kumquat finally makes a video essay about rid2001/car robots. Hopefully they make one for each rid2015 video eassy they make.
This show is its own abridged series, and I will not be convinced otherwise.
Literally infinity better than that HORRID tfp “sequal”
Kumquat is just a hater!
This is more memorable than RID2015, I legit struggle to remember moments that aren’t summarizing major season plot that gets reset once the seasons over
7:38 tf wiki is hands down the best part of the fanbase. It’s genuinely so fun to read through and you can fall into so many dumb tangents.
I honestly feel like RID 2001 Ultra Magnus is a strong contender for the Autobot equivalent to Starscream.
Super turbo punch being a straight up haymaker to Megatron's jaw(s?) sent me lmao
fun fact: in the spanish dub, optimus shares voice actors with captain hero from drawn together.
there's also a bit of dialogue and regional latino american jokes with sky-byte unique to that dub.
Liked and favorited for when i come home from work. Fucking LOVED RID as a kid.
4:58 My boy Optimus is putting Caseoh to shame.
XD the swim swim swim swim swim uh oh clip from Episode 15 was kinda funny ngl
Kelly is one of my favorite human characters
We are getting a car numberplate with SKYBYTE on it. He is just glorious. Just as silly as Waspinator. 😂
@@diegodankquixote-wry3242 if no one dies or are even slightly at risk of dying there are no stakes
@@Blanktester685The predacons Being imprisoned in a hellish dimension for the rest of eternity with no chance of escape if they fail seems like a pretty big stakes. On the other hand ir the autobots fail, Gigatron will take control of Brave Maximus and control all of space and time. Sounds like pretty big stakes to me.
this show was something i watched when i was very young, did not know what it even was called until years later, fond memories
3:17 - 3:39 Ok, at first when I was 12 or so I didn't even think about it. But now it looks creepy. It seems that the creators of this anime thought that this moment would not be so stupid for viewers as it is a kid show, so nothing bad will happen to a main character.
This series' Ultra Magnus is prototype Animated Sentinel Prime.
i just love this show because of how goofy it is
Prime is cheeked up in this show. 💀💀💀
Primus damn!
2:42
😂Lol
Your not wrong about the *Brain Rawting*

I definitely did not spell that correctly 😅

I hope there's an actual Video of this Popping Music. 🎶

Damb that's Flagging Depressing.
rid mentiond less goooo, some may have g1 others may have bayverse, but my goldmine is rid 2001
Tbh i prefer this over the 2015 series bc at least i can enjoy this. The 2015 one only made me confused.
2000s!RiD Transformers anime ≈ Digimon Adventure
BOTH the same Japanese Music songwriters and USA voice cast !!!
RID, the transition period between several years of Hasbro using Canadian animation to just dubbing while japanese series.
Hasbro dubbed Car Robots because Beast Machines underperformed and cancelled the Transtech toyline, after RID 2001 Hasbro & Takara decided to work together on the Unicron trilogy and after that they both went back to doing their own thing
i still have a dvd of this to this day man skybite was my selling point yes it was troy baker doing the voice
Oh my gosh is knockout in both versions actually voiced by the same guy!?
Edit: I think it actually is the same voice actor, According to Google at least, that's kinda cool actually
2:33 naaaah, optimus really screamed in lowercase right there
love the vids continue your great work
Swim swim swim ughh no swim swim swim nooo swim swim swim dang it
keep in mind, English dub removed 12 episodes which includes controversal tower falldown episode.
The art style reminds me of transformers armada so imma check it out, thanks for showing me it exists
I'll take RiD 2001 over Prime any day. Better robot designs, more upbeat, and Sky-Byte.
Certainly knew how to have fun and it had some decent drama and excitement, Galvatron holding earth’s children hostage with his cyberbats is pretty terrifying… shoot Takara used a similar plot 9 years prior in the Brave series and both are equally terrifying in how much control the villains had on the situation
i watched this show when i was a kid i didn't relies how weird it was back then
also kids win the fight by going on the internet that was somehow same plot as one of the digimon movies that came out a bit before this
4:00 sub space pocket go burrrrrrrr choo choo
I was honestly laughing during every episode 😂
I love the original dub a lot more. It's part of the G1 continuity
13:51 those lovely lips on Megatron
3:08 Sounds like a horrific WWII story 🤣
Honestly, Car Robots is the better version of this and it's one of the most slept on Transformers shows.
skybyte was my brother's and my fave char hands down
Antarctic Diamond Mine!
This show rocks. It’s just fun
cant believe you didnt mention fortress maximus' canonical email address
I have yet to watch this show, i need to watch it sometime. I’m still getting through armada and cyberverse
I actually have the Legacy United Side Burn figure.
RID my beloved
14:24 agree I'm not a fan of a tv show having the same name as another show like DuckTales and TMNT
Hi,
Cool video!
Honestly, I’ve never really known what to think of this series, but I had a good laugh at several moments.😅
Personally, this series is a bit like (metaphorically) a pizza where someone thought it would be a good idea to add sour candies on top of the cheese and ham.
A character ecen resembling Bumblebee diesn't even exist in rid2001!
Episode 7: Side Burn has the exact opposite reaction from the one my friend would in that situation. :P
