yes it is, it came later after the GT Heat 1 where people would start to spam ways of having 1 or 2 drops while others had 6 or 7, then these 2 drops would get turn 1 and all the army then piles out, take the mastrodon for example. Anyway its a legal rule that overrides the old one and should be adheard to
If atleast one model in a unit isn’t in cover, the whole unit can’t benefit the +1 save modifier that cover grants. However, if said unit has wounds to save from a shooting attack, you can allocate the first unsaved wound/wounds to models that aren’t in cover to remove them and THEN benefit from cover to the rest of the unit
"Don't charge flamers" Unless you're outside 8" because flamers got horribly nerfed in 8th and apparently can't keep up a continuous burn during overwatch...
Deployment: Units deployed inside a vehicle counts as "one drop" for deployement purposes :) Command Points: You got 3 CP (command points) for being a "battle bound army" and +x CP for bonuses, so Lewis would have at least 3 CP and duncan should have 7. Cover: A unit recieves the benefit of cover as a whole, either the entire unit has it, or no one has it, BUT all MODELS need to be within cover, otherwise the UNIT does NOT gain cover
Ah all that old Necron lore, I miss it. Sadly the Nu-crons aren't the mindless immortal souls-in-metal genociders led by their star-eating gods with completely unique technology anymore. They're now just Tomb Kings in Space, so they're petty hollywood egyptians with alzheimers, that inexplicably use the webway to travel and all the cool set-up for the C'tan is now gone (goodbye Void Dragon arc). They even ally with the Imperium - they are that vanilla now.
Had the same reaction to the changes of the Necrons. So many people seemed to like it because they were 'too much mindless killing machines like Tyranids' and I just thought "Well, congratulations, now they are just like everyone else." Also the change to their technology annoyed me so much. It was so cool that they pretty much mastered the physical realm and didn't need to to use warp like everyone else. But nope, everyone is gotta be the same.
Don't play but grew up watching other folks play. That's pretty fucking awful of a lore rewrite. I always thought the old Necrons were super cool several million year old T-1000 looking genocidal killers without thought but driven mission and could be lying dormant on literally any planet. It's weird though, I always thought that Tyranids were one of the least mindless killing machines. They always did the infiltration and cut off communication because they moved slower than everyone and signaled their presence before hand. I mean yeah, they always ate everything on the planet but how they were able to was the fun part. Orks were the mindless killing machines in my mind. But they get away with it by having cockney accents and being excessively orky.
I think we need Ben or Duncan to read the rule ENTIRE rule book. It's not even that long and there are a lot of rules errors. 1: Both players have battle forged armies, meaning they get 3 command points each. 2: Patrol Detachments don't give any command points. 3: You deploy units inside of transports with the transport and they count as one drop. No matter how many units are in a transport as long as they fit it counts as one drop when the transport is deployed. 4: Chapter Approved has some rules changes, I haven't read it so I don't know them all. If you do use the chapter approved rules the player who finishes deploying first gets +1 to a D6 roll off instead of just going first. 5: You don't have to get into base to base contact, just within an inch for melee combat. 6: The WHOLE squad must be WHOLLY WITHIN or EVERY MODEL must be MORE THAN 50% OBSCURED for cover to take effect. Those were most of the major rules errors I saw but I have some tips/suggestions for you guys. 1: You should always have at least 2 HQ's as almost any army. Most of them give invaluable buffs to guys around them, for Necrons Crypteks give them +1 to their reanimation protocols which is very good. 2: Lewis should have brought a Triarch stalker or some Destroyers, points may have been a restriction but heavier units are necessary for a good army. 3: Shooty armies are strong in 8th edition so if you want to have melee units you need lots of cover and line of sight blocking terrain or for both players to have at least semi melee armies or else on will just steam roll. Additionally it seems to me like characters are stronger than similar costed units in melee but the reverse in shooting, characters either function to pass out buff bubbles or to charge and disrupt the enemy. A Space Marine Captain with jump pack and thunder hammer storm shield is much more effective at killing characters and vehicles than a similar points assault marine squad, he'll also be more useful for longer as he doesn't lose shots/attacks when he's damaged.
I'm watching through the episodes backwards now and I gotta say: its impressive how you upped the production- and entertainment value but I could use the two guys sitting there like stattler and walldorf in the newer vids.
OMG I JUST STARTED PLAYING AGE OF SIGMAR AND NOW IF THESE GUYS ARE PLAYING WARHAMMER I FINALLY HAVE A CHANN I KNOW WILL POST STUFF LIKE THIS WOOOOOOOO!!!!
To be fair, Lewis has a few vehicles too. It makes sense to build an army that can take on whatever the opponent throws at you, so Duncan made a decent army selection. Bjorn might be a little overkill though. If anything, Lewis fucked up by not bringing something a bit tougher.
Tom and the Battle Boys They play with little toys Tom and the Battle Boys They are here to playyyy Lewis is a Battle Boy Ben is a Battle Boy Alex is a Battle Boy Tom is here tooooo
Glad this is back...but you guys are already messing up the rules. 😅 3 command points for being battleforged, plus the ones for your detachments. Also, pretty sure you don't announce who ISN'T being set up on the board.
It does count as a deployment when you put people deployed in deep strike/dropships/off the board. It counts as one of your deployments, so if you have a lot of people in deep strike it doesn't mean you automatically go first. However, if you deploy people in a transport (like putting space marines in a razorback), they should be part of the same deployment as the vehicle, not separate.
Personally, I prefer to use square bases on Necrons, the perfect ranks of robotic skeletons look cooler than the bizarre rabble you can get with round bases...
I was briefly into Warhammer when I was younger and the Necrons definitely had/have a codex? Or are they playing a ruleset from before the codex came out?
they got their amount of command points wrong :'( Duncan would have 3 for battalion, 3 for battle forged, 1 for Bjorn and Lewis would have 3 for battleforged dang it guys :P getting things wrong! haha (took me a while to figure it out haha)
"They want to kill everything that isn't them."
"Yes."
"Which is kind of like you."
"... Yes."
"I AM YOU."
"AND YOU ARE ME."
The Tom and Alex casting is the best thing ever
MrUlrok nearly as good as tom and pyrion poker night
Lmao the dynamic of Tom and Alex sat there commenting like Waldorf and Statler appeals to me immensely
"It's quite cold and the Ultramarines didn't want to go" 😂😂😂
have been waiting for some 40k, here we go
xjrf gaming me too!!!
Will we get another painting session? Those were really cool (especially considering I was painting my own 40k stuff at the same time😂😂)
There isn't a "show" before battleboys on their twitch schedule, it would be cool to occasionally get a painting/chill/chat session before Battleboys.
T1Mscott i was just thinking a couple more of the RUclips videos but yeah, that'd be awesome too
Well, they generally just make the twitch streams into RUclips vids (that's what this is), so it would become that as well.
T1Mscott fair dos
Note on how the system works:

is the person who finish first deploying get's a +1 not a rule they added after the released the big core rule book in that smaller updated rule book?
yes it is, it came later after the GT Heat 1 where people would start to spam ways of having 1 or 2 drops while others had 6 or 7, then these 2 drops would get turn 1 and all the army then piles out, take the mastrodon for example. Ell Bennett are you in a tau group on Facebook? XD
Ryan Pye yes, yes I am why
I knew Tom would sneak in his favourite movie reference, that's a lot of nuts indeed.
i love how these guys are on stream almost every day and they still have a "play-with-the-camera-like-a-rookie" intro. lol
1:47 Tom - Humans did... come. *Lewis shifts in chair to resist laughter*
If atleast one model in a unit isn’t in cover, the whole unit can’t benefit the +1 save modifier that cover grants.

I was watching channels dedicated to Warhammer, then I watched this.... its so casual, I like it.
Wow, they are actually using special wargaming tape measures. I wonder how much Games Workshop managed to mark those up?
AWESOME!! BEEN WAITING FOR THIS FOR AGES!!!
You get 3 command points for just being battle forged, so Duncan would have had 7 and lewis 4
At last more 40k !
When they were talking like robots I was waiting for the Grandmas Boy quote, "YOU'LL NEVER GET METAL LEGS"
War hammer is just different shades of gray
"Don't charge flamers"
Unless you're outside 8" because flamers got horribly nerfed in 8th and apparently can't keep up a continuous burn during overwatch...
NOOOOOOOOOOO WHERES MY BENNY BOI!?!?!?!!?!? WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!
I watched until the end without realizing that they were Yogscast
I played a little 40k with Necrons. Seeing Lewis play makes me want to give it another shot!
i really wanted Duncan to do the Battle Boys theme song
Duncan isn't a Battle Boy though...
Tom looks like he's getting flashbacks to his youth whenever he looks at the livestream chat 18:05
The sheer amount of times tom pops his eyebrows is insane
I believe the "Horns of the bull" maneuver is originally called "The Pincer Maneuver"
Duncan showin the battle boys how its done!
Our prayers have been answered.
Ah, the horns of the buffalo - jolly deadly
"YEAH!"
"Did you roll a six?"
"Why would Duncan cheer if he rolled anything other than a six?"
"Wait, the skull is a one? I rolled a one."
Man, I feel like the 40k should be commentated on Yog-Poker style
Tom and Alex made this video not gonna lie 😂😂
Duncan is a battleboi?
The WH40K battle came before the Necromunda stuff, so I guess he's technically an OG battleboi.
Matthias Smed Larsen no he’s not.
Matthias Smed Larsen by that logic so would tom, ben, lewis and alex, who are all battlebois except for tom.
Everyone except for tom is a battleboy. And yes, that includes you, dear viewer at home.
But Tom got to choose so why don't we?

i feel the need to throw my rule book and necron codex at lewis
Let Duncan play his own pieces! From 6 years in the future. Nevermind.
I've been waiting for this forever!!!!!!!
Yes Finalllllyyyy, so hyped for this series
Awww yeah, was looking forwards to this!
This isn't the horns of the bull. This is just a flank.
Cause it's quite cold and the ultramarines didn't want to go XD
Good guys in 40k? Preposterous!

RaeSyngKane Massive disagree, I think the new lore is some of the coolest in the game and it really makes me want to play Necrons
yes, keep the 40K coming
31:17 What does Alex say here? Legion of the Robonoobs?
Finally! I love Necromunda to bits, but it's time we got some proper 40k played
Yes! It's back.
No offense but so many rules wrong/forgotten, where's Ben?
Ben is probably playing Star Wars Armada
BraynCel *winning
Care?
IMO as long as both players are consistent with the same rules it doesn't really matter in a casual setting.
I think we need Ben or Duncan to read the rule ENTIRE rule book. It's not even that long and there are a lot of rules errors.

Lewis, your HQ , Orkian the diviner can give Freindly units (within 6 inches) a 5+ invun from ranged attacks :)
you always get a standard 3 command points if your army is battleforged (all from the same faction, eg: imperim,. heretic astartes, necron etc.)
40k! EXACTLY what I was hoping for. Also more Star Wars, haha
OMFG yes I've been waiting for this!
I'm watching through the episodes backwards now and I gotta say: its impressive how you upped the production- and entertainment value but I could use the two guys sitting there like stattler and walldorf in the newer vids.
So excited to finally get some 40k!!!
YES 40K!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Finally more 40K!
16:07 Lewis as usual not knowing the difference between 5 and 6 inches
after duncan mentioned lewis looking shorter, i noticed the camera is totally flipping tilted slightly
Duncan shouldn't have been able to place his drop-pod troops where he did. The troops are way too close to the board edge.
ONE THOUSAND DUDES!
“Necrons are the good guys” careful what you speak off is heresy
Tau Codex inbound on saturday let sjin know
OMG I JUST STARTED PLAYING AGE OF SIGMAR AND NOW IF THESE GUYS ARE PLAYING WARHAMMER I FINALLY HAVE A CHANN I KNOW WILL POST STUFF LIKE THIS WOOOOOOOO!!!!
Hold up are these the guys from the Yogscast
@@Boredrico123 ... yes? This is the Yogscast tabletop games channel.
Duncan just ignoring the rest of the guys and introducing his models, you know he is already in try hard mode
twin assault cannons vs an infantry army yeah...
He's proud, he worked hard painting that shit ye know. :P
He waited for months to play this, i can understand the impatience
Lewis brings mostly basic infantry, duncan brings special characters, vehicles, and wulfin...Totally Fair and Balanced.
To be fair, Lewis has a few vehicles too. It makes sense to build an army that can take on whatever the opponent throws at you, so Duncan made a decent army selection. Bjorn might be a little overkill though. If anything, Lewis fucked up by not bringing something a bit tougher.
Very good, much like
Tom and the Battle Boys
They play with little toys
Tom and the Battle Boys
They are here to playyyy
Lewis is a Battle Boy
Ben is a Battle Boy
Alex is a Battle Boy
Tom is here tooooo
From a person who has played Warhammer 40k for about 5 years this legit hurts
Hectic I hate to agree with you on this
Care?
Glad this is back...but you guys are already messing up the rules. 😅 3 command points for being battleforged, plus the ones for your detachments. Also, pretty sure you don't announce who ISN'T being set up on the board.
Sean Thomas "legit question" so do you just say pass or not take a turn for them?

YES THANK GOD HOLY SHIT IVE BEEN WAITING FOR SO LONG
turning off adblock to support more 40k
I play Necrons. You need Overlord, Lord and Cyptek. Get you some daddys!
Tom was excellent in this
Duncan if its taking it as a dedicated transport it sets up as one just to let you know
About fucking time.
Personally, I prefer to use square bases on Necrons, the perfect ranks of robotic skeletons look cooler than the bizarre rabble you can get with round bases...
FINALLY!
But.... why is the Ben gone?
Models look amazing
YES!
Every list gets 3 CP base, your detachment gives you extra on top, and so do characters like Bjorn. Just FYI
Moar! Warhammer 40k! Yes it's the best
This is great :D
*WAAAAAAAAAGGGHHHHHHHHH!!!!!*
I was briefly into Warhammer when I was younger and the Necrons definitely had/have a codex? Or are they playing a ruleset from before the codex came out?
Karen From Finance They're playing 8th edition, which just recently came out. New codexes are still being written
Ah I see thank you.
Necrons codex is next after the Tau
More of this plz
I didn't know Peter Stormare was member of the yogscast
6:09 So... daleks?
Pretty sure the battle guard leader can only deep strike, if he has a jump pack.
and both of you had 6 command points, 3 for being battle forged, 3 for a battalion
Movement trays are a waste of time tbh, better to just move them 1 by one, dont be lazy, unless its like groups of 40
love this
duncan is always talking over all the stuff i wanna hear from the back xD
Lewis is a battle boy
Fucking perfect, this is hilarious
I'm sorry but The Man Emperor of Mankind decreed that they are now officially Space Corgis and any mention of wolf should be replaced with corgi.
More 40k!!!!! 😍😍😍😍
Makes me wonder if any of these guys have played Rogue Trader or Dark Heresy.
Doesnt plasma get hot anymore? A lot of 1s to hit?
Mostly Harmless think it needs to be super charged
yeah they have a safe mode and a melt your face mode
No theme song?
So you’re saying the Necrons are the Borg, but without the creepy hive leader chick and can’t infect people by touching them.
No, they are using heavily outdated lore here.
Yyyeeeeesss. Please do more
they got their amount of command points wrong :'(
Duncan would have 3 for battalion, 3 for battle forged, 1 for Bjorn
and Lewis would have 3 for battleforged
dang it guys :P getting things wrong! haha (took me a while to figure it out haha)
