Great review as always! The Versa has come a looooong way! It no longer looks like a low budget, frumpy rental you'd get stuck with. To me its styling looks better than the Altima.
I bought a new one back in 2020... SR electric blue almost 39000 miles on it...it's been super!...It's a good looking charm... Thanks for the great thorough review!
I bought this car 2 days ago and had the same reactions as you. Thankfully I was just looking for a car to go to work in and not break down haha. Thanks for all the information!!
We bought a 2020 Versa SV for my wife to buzz around town. We have a 2019 Maxima SL too. To compare, I know who the Versa is designed to serve. Depending on how the cars are lined up in the drive, I jump into the Versa and I am ever so pleased about its ride and the safety features Nissan has put into this model for older drivers. I'm 80 and I depend on those additions. We call it it our MiniMax. Great job Nissan. One more point. We have had several Nissan models with the CVT transmissions. Smooth!
Drove over an complete deer that was freshly hit in the middle of the interstate at 65 miles per hour. This car was perfectly fine. Had to head to car wash to remove blood and some pieces of deer from underneath but drove 300 miles like a champ dragging a piece of dear. I like it.
Used to have the Sv model back in 2021, dude rear ended me at like 20 mph and my car got totaled. Stuck with the same car, just different color when I got a new one.
9:40 I drive a 2020 Versa. Sport mode will prevent you from practically redlining after stopped. I'm enjoying it, but am having a couple issues with the sensors. My fuel gauge is stuck on full and the emergency stoppers randomly go off so I gotta physically turn them off. Hopefully its nothing too major but still. At 82k miles I didn't expect to have to take it to a shop for these electrical issues. But yes the mileage is fantastic. Roughly 50 on the highway. I traded in a 2006 Sentra for this and if it wasn't running super rough I would have traded in for that.
You kept it real and measured the Versa against it's peers not a BMW. Putting an order in on one this week in the same SV trim. Prefer halogen lighting, much cheaper to replace. Nobody thinks about that with the LED's.
Great job on the video. I a have a '22 in the same trim on order. They are out of stock here in Mexico. I have a couple quick questions. Does the apple car play work over bluetooth or do you have to plug it in? Also, does the engine shut off when you stop and then restart when you touch the gas again? (I hope not to the second. I HATE that feature and on the Subuaru it's a PITA to turn off. ) Thanks!
Hey there! The Carplay only works when plugged in, and it does NOT have that auto shut off feature. Which, thank goodness. I'm not a fan of that either.
i wanted that color for my new 23 Versa SR, but all i could find was a black one, so i jumped on it fast. lucked out and found one in N Texas over the New Yrs weekend. at the time, there wasn't even a Versa of any trim level anywhere in 500 mile radius, how they got the car so fast not sure, but very happy with it. fun to drive, doesn't handle bad at all, very comfortable ride, and the sound system pretty amazing. must be a Bose system, cus it sounds just like the Sentra SR i had, which had the Bose via the premium pkg. all around great little car, hardly ever visit the pump. car has tons of options, safety tech, advanced cruise control. and i added a a few things through the dealer, like vent visors and illuminated door sills. it came with exterior ground lighting, and interior floor LED lighting. so ya, amazing value for what all you get! (videos on my channel) ☮
I would only get the base model S trim, with the manual transmission. Nissan CVT transmissions are horrible but for under 15 grand I would take the S with the manual. Pretty nice looking vehicle overall.
I'm for sure a Save The Manuals guy, so I feel you... but outside of the transmission this was quite an impressive sub compact! I'd go as far to say best in class!
Keen eye you got there!! Definitely be sure to subscribe, I appreciate your attention to detail!! Once you sub, watch my others and give more feedback like this!!
I’m renting this now. How can you tell if the gas tank is full? It looks like the line is close to 0. The guy at the rental place told me the tank is full. So how do I know when to fill it up?
I don’t know much about cars.. I want to get my first car soon. Do you recommend this 2021 Versa over the 2022 Versa? I’m thinking of getting the SR by the way.
@@DownshiftPass I wouldn’t say that for me it’s been quite peppy and actually can move of course it’s not a track car it’s still sloopowwww but not as slow people make it out to be it and I own one
😂😂😂😂! The engine definitely sounded like it was struggling! Hopefully the next generation they'll learn. They're dropping the CVT in the new Pathfinder so fingers crossed it makes its way down the line.

I so agree with you! I was legitimately blown away at the quality of this one!

Great review, mate! I'm considering getting this car here in Argentina.
You'll love it! It's a really practical commuter car for sure!

It's truly an impressive car considering the price!

That's some strange happenings for sure! Overall it seems this car is really loved by its owners though!!

I changed mine to LED’s so easy to replace and wayy brighter
I love how this car looks!
The color as well!!

Great review. Too bad I got to wait a few months to get one. Small gas saving cars are not available to buy right now.
Everyone is trying to save money at the pump nowadays
I own this car mine is charcoal gray i absolutely love it

I just got a 2021 about 2 months ago. I don't see nothing wrong with the transmission.
A CVT isn't bad, but it's not for everyone! I'd love a regular torque converter in any vehicle over a CVT. But all personal preference.
@@DownshiftPass It does operate a little funky until you get used to it. And understand how it works
I can understand that !!

We have had 7 Nissans with CVTs. Never a problem. Our 2019 Maxima at 300 HP does the job when I need to get up to speed
change the cvt fluid often. you'll be good. don't follow the owners manual.
Are there other sedans under $20k? Used corollas are going for over $22K. I want to get one with manual 5 speed. After my 2004 ION2 wears out.
Not many, but solid choices out there!
12:25 were gunna merge onto the highway here why i use my turn signal for .05 seconds

The line should be closest to the right, and as it empties it'll move to the left!

Either will do you just fine! The 2021 will save you a bit of money though!! 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
Hey for fuel do I look at the red bar or the bar on top?
The bar at the bottom left. Funny, because this question gets asked a lot! I should've pointed it out.
it actually says in the manual, to pass, depress the accelerator all the way down to the floor. lol
😂😂😂😂😂!!! Wow! So they know the car is underpowered! LOL

@@yusufsesay6648I agree coming from a 2008 Subaru 2.5i
Is it push button start??? It sounded like it was shifting gears. Can you manually shift the automatic trans.
No
Is there any way to get one with a 2.0
Video made me miss Charlotte
Be sure you sub! It's plenty more Charlotte videos for you to enjoy! LOL
When will Nissan finally get rid of the CVT for good… and on 4 cylinders it sounds like the transmission is about to blow 😩😂 Great review though! 🔥🔥🔥
😂😂😂😂! The engine definitely sounded like it was struggling! Hopefully the next generation they'll learn. They're dropping the CVT in the new Pathfinder so fingers crossed it makes its way down the line.
@@DownshiftPass yes I’m excited for the new Pathfinder, I heard about them dropping the CVT 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾. Now the Maxima next 😂
If they're smart it'll leave the Maxima!
they will drop as move to EV platforms
How NOT to drive a cvt
How TO drive a CVT. :-)
