First things first, all of you horsepower junkies clicked the wrong video. This car is the perfect first car/college car. It offers a lot for the price and even checks off a lot of boxes for features that even some $30K+ cars don't have. You are not racing in this car, you are not taking this to the track. This is to get you to point A to point B that has great fuel economy, and that's perfectly fine.
@@jamisonz3365 Had a 2010 Honda Civic. It started all the time, but the paint peeled off the car; the heater core needed replacing, and the brakes could not stop short distance. Also, the seat was terribly uncomfortable.
You're a commendable professional, Joe. You still gave it a little "On throttle" enthusiasm anyway, even though you just got finished doing a Porsche review.
Don't kid yourselves mate you would only have yourself to laugh at if you think that's really the price they will sell at. This is the classic "technically true** (notice the stars) but also not" business ploy Nissian is running to get customers running in through the doors. So let me let you in (and everyone reading) some obvious problems with that price tags. 1. Dealership won't order you this car for that price (sorry or not but they will fight you on the lot if it means getting it close to $20k by any means) 2. The one they are using for this marketing ploy to market as "UnDer 16-17k** OmG come now!!" is a manual (aka take a perfectly good pizza and remove 82% of that and throw straight into the trash) if you catch my reference. Oh I'm sorry you wanted 100% of the pizza? ya than make sure to order the xtra large and ofc xtraa costly SV size baby 😎 it will ONLY cost you 1-2k more 😀. 3. I can't emphasize this point enough if you think a car company is GOING OUT Of their way to produce and sell you a manual in 2024 of all years out of the kindness of their heart knowing they will loss 87% of the strictly automatic driving market. Once again you're playing yourself. No car brand will knowingly making a manual car in 2024 (except luxury or performance cars) they KNOW close to nobody not a single soul will buy a manual and will instinctively goto the automatic "upgrade" for more cost. 4. There is barely any supply, you're better off buying a 2022-2024 Hyundai Sonota Hybrid at that point
I bought a 2021 for my 16 yr old daughter, and tbh I was blown away by the quality of the Versa. I haven't had a small Japanese "beater" type car since the mid-1990s in college and I didn't expect much more than the same I felt when driving a 1995 Corolla or 2000 Lancer. The 20 year difference in comfort, refinement, and features kind of shocked me. The car was slow of course, but it got 44 mpg hwy and was butter smooth, quiet, handled well, heated seats, sound system better than that in $40K cars, ADAS tech, emergency braking, parking sensors, etc. I mean, unless you need to show off, what more does one need from a day-to-day vehicle? The Sentra is a little bigger, a bit better looking for just another $2K. I honestly would dump all my cars except my sports car and buy a Sentra for me and the wife and save $50K from buying all these "entry luxury" cars I've driven for 20 years. These small cars are that good.
You're a great and responsible dad! No new driver needs a high-end car as their first ride as they're still learning how to navigate curbs and other vehicles. 😄 Cars have come a long way since I was a kid, where my first was a 1981 Plymouth Horizon-miser for $500. It wasn't stylish, but I was ride'n. 😀
I always learn about what popular toys and candies from the 80's and 90's can fit in my center console when I watch Raiti's rides! I appreciate you, man. You're just a big kid at heart. And btw, it doesn't matter what nissan does, it will always feel like a rental car to me. But it's nice you can still find something for around 20 grand although I'd go with the ford maverick any day of the week over this.
Very smart post. There are many reasons a buyer will be interested in a simple, affordable, and NEW car, and I think you nailed them all. Considering what it looked like before, I'm actually not mad at this design! I did laugh out loud at the 'ya gotta plan your moves out on the road'. 🤣 Bless its heart, thanks for posting! 🙂
The 2024 Nissan Versa Sr in Mexico has the fog lights from factory and rear center arm rest. And to top it off leather interior seats. But not the US VERSION that just bonkers to me.
My first car was a used 95 Saturn, second car was a used 01 Sentra... and drove them all until the gasket blew. So you can imagine, as someone who comes from humble beginnings of old pre-owned cars - having a brand new 2024 car like the Nissan Versa would be like owning a Ferrari - HOWEVER, after doing my research on CVT For my third car I looked at this or a 2020 Toyota Rav4 XLE Premium FWD (non-Hybrid)... as much as I would have loved a brand new car like the 2024 Versa, I decided to go with the Rav4, of course it costed me $18k more. I'm so happy that new ~$20k cars still exist to this day. and if it was my first or second car, I would have definitely purchased one.
Biggest problem with the CVT’s is that people aren’t religious with the fluid changes. If you follow the factory schedule you’ll definitely have problems. Change the cvt every 30k and it’ll last
Hello, I have the 2023, I like it a lot, I will change it when another one comes out with more changes, thank you, Hello Raitis, from dominican republic
I appreciate the videos of the more affordable vehicles. Not everyone wants to pay as much as a house payment on a vehicle. More of these types of cars please.
For doing short trips around town or long freeway stretches, it's a great car. If you need to get on the freeway on a short onramp or do anything requiring rapid acceleration, fuhget aboudit.
I have a Kicks with the same engine and transmission, and I have no problems getting on the expressway four times a week. In fact, what irritates me is all the cars that think they have a lot of power that switch lanes and cut in front of me, making me step on the brake, so I don't rear-end them. Then they go slower than I was going. I also get 38-48.4 MPG on the expressway.
Traditionally, economy cars have looked rather pitiful. This versa had a great exterior color, good looking wheels, and attractive cloth seats. I recall the days of vinyl lol!!
You said this doesn't have any mode, in fact it does have a "sport" mode, that little button on the back of the shifter, it's barely noticeable. Just had a 2021 Versa SV a few weeks ago as a rental on a road trip. Pretty good for that it is, easy on fuel, still decent accel, nice technologies, plenty of space. Just keep it under warranty, that CVT is fragile !! My father's "17 Sentra just exploded it's CVT on our out of town Christmas trip, hence why we got that Versa rental 😂Lucky for him, still was on warranty ! I got told by the dealer that Nissan is slowly getting back into normal automatic transmissions, wonder why.... Hey Joe, Great review by the way!! Like always 👍👍
This is an incredible value for under 20k...if you can find one. I recently bought a 2022 Sentra and have been very happy. I bought a brand new Audi over a decade ago and it was nothing but problems, and literally fell apart after the 50k warranty. I won't ever go back to "luxury" cars again. I am beyond that point in my life where I feel I need to impress people I don't know. Great review!
My 2023 is doing me great, a couple of things to note is that the base trim does not come with a key fob nor a center console. Also the versa has a “sport” mode which just keeps the rpms slightly higher to give it a bit of bite when stepping on the gas. I use it to get me to and from work and school constantly driving. $33 to fill up once every 1-1.5 week(s). Keep in mind this is a commuter college students car with that kind of gas mileage. I bought it brand new off the lot in March of 2023
Heated seats in an "economy car". So wild. I realize new car prices are higher now than they used to be, but heck just 5 years ago an economy car was stripped to nothing... now you're getting 8" touchscreens, wireless charging, heated seats, etc. there's a reason prices are higher.
my car! cept i got the black one, first one to hit N Texas last yr, New Yrs weekend (year ago).. been a great little sedan, and the sound system sounds like a Bose. only gripe is same as your Zonk, no Fog-lights! 2022s had em, then they killed em off for 2023. although the Mexico and Canadian versions DO get fog-lights, makes no sense. they even have fog-lights on the SV version! like wtf.. but overall love it, it's basically a baby Altima. and i only have about 3200 miles on it, since it's just a daily and BTW, it does actually have a Sport-mode, it's on the back the Stick-shift. ☮
Its sound system sounds like a Bose? Really? I'd still have a powered subwoofer installed in the SR version though. Maybe it's overkill audio wise but I like the boom even though I'd keep that boom to myself and not blast it, windows open, to attract attention to myself like some idiot peeps do. 🙏♐
@@AladdinSaneNYC oh yeah, a aftermarket Sub would help alot. it's still pretty Bassy, you just gotta go into the audio settings. set the bass where u like it. i'm thinking its a Bose, cus my daughter's Rogue SV has Bose, but it just doesn't have the little Bose badges like the Sentra etc. i think Nissan just does that with some top level trims, or with Premium packages like her rogue. anyway, ya its a clean sounding audio system. but you only get it in the SR ☮
Hello Joe, I think this is a nice nice Nissan Versa SR yes, this isn't intended to be luxurious I think for $21,000+X I think this is a great great value. Yes this is not a Genesis, nor a Mercedes-Benz, nor a BMW but I feel like this would be a great great value.
When I was looking at Nissian I avoided this one because to me it too small. We went with the Sentra Sr instead. Some people like smaller.cars but I prefer a little bigger.
They don’t cheap out at all ? ... No hydrolic lifters , steel control arms with ball joint built into it , exhaust of not the highest quality . Just ''little'' things that cost additional maintenance.
@@Tragick_Sin The good news is that after your 3rd cvt you can put a manual gearbox from the base Versa hoping to find one in a scrapyard. Obviously the base Versa will be more difficult to find than the numerous cvt ones which will be found there well before.. Here in Canada we have to buy the Sentra to hope for the same thing cause here there is no manual Versa but only manual Sentra primarily used in the ''Sentra Cups racing program''....which allows them to be found more quickly totaled.
The Car Care Nut did an overview of this same car and he was happy with the simplicity of the suspension and motor. Solid and reliable design. Easy to work on for the DIY’er. Just change the CVT fluid often and it’ll last.
Great car for a girl getting ready for college or for someone doing Lyft or Uber (great gas mileage) but if someone thinks they are going to drive this like a sports car and or abuse it they are going to go through that CVT very quickly and have problems. Great Bang for your buck and great MPG for it not being a hybrid.

Great review Joe! I've purchased 11 Nissans (all new, including 2 Nissan Maximas [2016 & 2018]). I've owned 6 new Altima Sedans and 2 Altima Coupes and a 2021 Sentra SR (which was the same exact color of your Versa). I love Nissans. I only wish that they would have an option for a manual transmission. They do offer a manual in Canada on the Sentra, at least in 2021. Why wouldn't they offer it in the US???? Side note, the stereos were awesome in all my vehicles=BOSE
When I was in high school in the 1960s this Versa would have run circles around 90% of the cars in the student parking lot. Well, there was that one rich kid whose daddy bought him a 64 Pontiac GTO, but that was the exception. People have forgotten all those old V-8 sedans that did 0-60 in15 seconds.
i drive the 2024 versa sr its my first car i bought since living on my own. its slow yes but she does her job. im only 19 so its great for what i need.
We bought two Nissan Versas for our teenagers, one in 2007 and one in 2008. WE ARE STILL USING THEM IN 2024! Mileage is in the upper 200 thousands. My husband still commutes to work about 100 miles per day in one of them. Very few problems. (One of them is soon to be retired.) We liked them because they had more leg and head room than other cars we tried. I haven't been in a newer one. Ours are both hatchbacks. Excellent value. Oh, and I should also mention that in the '70s I bought a Datsun B210 (later Nissan) at the suggestion of a friend who said she had over 230 miles and was running fine. And no rust, a big problem for American cars back then. Another thing, one of the Versas is bright red and though parked outside for YEARS has not lost its color! The other is gray and also fine. No I dont work for Nissan. Just appreciate great value especially in a car.
My 2011 Nissan Versa, rolling up on 179k, is my best friend, my ride or die. We’ve been going through this life since August 6, 2010. Have I had “cooler” cars? Sure. Have I ever kept a car this long or this high in miles??? Not even close on either point, and not even a 2nd thought of what car I would buy when LaShae drives her last mile.
I wouldnt want to keep one out of warranty, but this car (alongside the Hyundai Venue) is one of the few "cheap" new cars left. It's much nicer than the older Versas, but also more expensive.
One thing more to your comment: If Nissan offered a two or three year Complimentary Maintenance feature to their vehicles it would be great! Don't you think? ♐
I just bought the basic model Versa. Not an S or SV. Plain Versa. Just got it yesterday 9/14. Not my first Versa. A tree in a storm totaled my first one a 2015. It was a standard shift with phenomenal gas mileage. This 2024 is very nice even though basic. Modern up to date look. Comfortable, didn’t break the bank but most cars are over priced these days. Without all the bells and whistles I still have phone connectivity. Basic model 2024 is good entry level Versa. Don’t let dealers take you for a ride on their fees. First dealer I went to jacked a car up from $18,500.00 to $26,000.00!! Dealer fees! Said those are all Texas state laws. Not so. The only regulation fee is TT&L. All other fees are optional to charge and negotiable. So I negotiated. I made him break it down what I was paying for. Kind of made him mad but he did it. There was a $460 consumer fee added! Really, a consumer fee?! I walked away. That’s like going into the grocery store paying for the groceries and then they say and by the way there’s a $50 consumer fee. That dealer said in all the years I’ve worked here your the first to ask for a breakdown of this. I said why we are financing all this stuff which means the interest is tacked onto that too.
Props to Joe again for reviewing cars his average viewers will actually consider! Is Versa a piece of crap? Yeah, but at $22k out the door, this car presents incredible value especially in today's car market.
I was so close to getting one of these! Ended up getting a new Mitsubishi RVR instead, little more pricey but the AWC is the way to go for this price segment, crossovers are just too practical
Joe forgot to mention this Versa SR has a sport mode button below the shift.😄 I bought this 2024 Versa SR because it has LED headlights and comes with many features and affordable for a brand new vehicle.
Right now I drive a '13 Sentra SR 110 miles round trip to work and back. So far 140k and do all maintenance myself including CVT fluid and filters, this may be my next car...
@@Brian_Eugene_Lee I have never had an issue with Nissan/CVT, some people just like to play follow the leader and repeat what they heard on the wonderful internet
I agree! This would be a great car at that price but those damn Nissan CVTs are known to fail. If Nissan would develop a reliable 8 speed auto even if they had to raise the msrp $1k or so it would still be a great value.
I'd go for something like this I love the design it's come a long way from the last generation couple of zonks I have on the SV trim the mirror caps are body colored and come with fog lamps but the SR trim doesn't. Also the hard plastic inside has gotta go!
No fog lights on top of the line- absolutely the worst CVT in history- plus CVT's are the worst thing that ever happened in automotive history- they should be sued
Really sorry about the probs some of you have had with Nissan CVTs. I've owned 5 CVT Nissans since 2005 and none of them had any issues (I have two now). Just follow the PM & keep up with any TSBs and it's all good.
There are so few cars at the 20k price range. This is an excellent value. Even comes with a spare. Nissan has not abandoned their heritage of offering inexpensive cars thankfully. The manual transmission one is clearly the model to get, because CVT's don't last like manual transmissions do.
i still remember my first car for college, it was 05 corolla that was just about 16k.. and that didn't have ANY of the cool safety features or camera, etc. But it lasted me 17 years of daily driving with almost no major issue. This is perfect for people studying or starter. Nowadays, why is everyone trying to drown themselves into 40-60k loan when they can't afford it especially for low-income families.

The way Joe looked into the camera during the first on throttle...priceless!
I like how Mr. Raiti always thank his wife Laurie for the camera work .
When I was looking at Nissian I avoided this one because to me it too small. We went with the Sentra Sr instead. Some people like smaller.cars but I prefer a little bigger.
I see nothing wrong with this car at all, I think what you get for the price is great. They don’t cheap out at all.
They don’t cheap out at all ? ... No hydrolic lifters , steel control arms with ball joint built into it , exhaust of not the highest quality . Just ''little'' things that cost additional maintenance.
@@cabaneencac5168and not to mention the preice of junk Jatco cvt!!
I agree Nate 💯👍🏾
In Puerto Rico the dealer markups make those go from 28-30k
Hi Joe, thanks for covering a subcompact vehicle. Keep up the great content and variety.
In the UK there is a hatchback version ehich has the same engine and tech but sold as the Nissan Micra
Joe out here making the sacrifice and reviewing a Versa. Keep at it man, we appreciate you.
❤❤❤ now chief u should be getting 100 million views u are working hard . Ur hustle is good.but I think some how u will reach that million views just u need to meet with people that are famous and interview them that will call more viewers for ur channel.🎉🎉❤
I'm getting one, excellent review!
Oh wow that is so great to hear!
Mr. Raiti sir, can you do the Nissan versa S with a manual? Or the Mitsubishi Mirage hatchback? You are the man! 😊
Another great video! I got mine in dark gray.
This is what I need
I GUESS YOU MADE ME,A BELIEVER.THANKS Raitis.😊
You give great reviews. I like this Nissan. Nice looking small car.
Amazing review Joe.
Thank you for taking the time to say that!
Gotta say Joe I kinda like it.
Great 1st or 2nd vehicle. Bought one new while in college 16 years ago, it did what it was suppose to do. Drive to work, school and home.
Seems like a great value. Thanks Joe. 👍😎🇺🇸
You are so very welcome!
It’s nice how they made it more stylish first time seeing one I thought it was a Sentra lol plus that new copper color is sick
i drive the 2024 versa sr its my first car i bought since living on my own. its slow yes but she does her job. im only 19 so its great for what i need.
There is a sport mode. It's on the shift selector. But speaking of shifting, I'd take the base model stick shift any day, EVERY day, over the CVT.
We bought two Nissan Versas for our teenagers, one in 2007 and one in 2008. WE ARE STILL USING THEM IN 2024! Mileage is in the upper 200 thousands. My husband still commutes to work about 100 miles per day in one of them. Very few problems. (One of them is soon to be retired.)
We liked them because they had more leg and head room than other cars we tried.
"...need to plan your trips ahead of time when merging lanes...due to 9 second times..." hilarious 😂
Not sure if you’ve reviewed a 2024 Toyota rav4 yet, would love to see a review on that!
I liked your hell cat videos better, lol, love u joe, keep up the great work
friggin awesome!
I am glad that you like this one Jason!
Why is it a piece of crap?
Why is it a piece of crap? Boring? Sure.
@@user-vi4xy1jw7ecvt transmissions don’t last very long
I was so close to getting one of these! Ended up getting a new Mitsubishi RVR instead, little more pricey but the AWC is the way to go for this price segment, crossovers are just too practical
Oh wow that is very interesting. Thank you for sharing your experience us!
Great review! A nice car that doesn't cost a fortune! Thanks!😊
Joe forgot to mention this Versa SR has a sport mode button below the shift.😄
I bought this 2024 Versa SR because it has LED headlights and comes with many features and affordable for a brand new vehicle.
I love how u review cars in all the price points
Yes actually
You forgot people who don't want to spend a ton of money on something that is disposable.
Right now I drive a '13 Sentra SR 110 miles round trip to work and back. So far 140k and do all maintenance myself including CVT fluid and filters, this may be my next car...
What about the reports of transmission problems in Nissan vehicles?
Kudos to you Joe for bringing us everything from A-Z, I have no interest in this but it’s refreshing!

Hold on to your hats here comes the CVT bashing
@@Brian_Eugene_Lee I have never had an issue with Nissan/CVT, some people just like to play follow the leader and repeat what they heard on the wonderful internet
Overal, I'm mostly impressed, but I don't trust CVT's. If they offer a manual version, I might go with that.
the cheapest base form versa s can be had with a manual
Also the hard plastic inside has gotta go!
always new with ideas
Looks like hondas molten lava pearl color...changes in the different lighting.
Great for a college students first car!
You are so very right about that!
I rented a 2023 Versa SV and it was a nice hwy cruiser and I got 50 MPG!!!! It wasn't bad at all and a good economy car.
A lot of car for a modest amount of money. Which is a good thing. My choice would be the S trim so I could get the 5-speed manual. Great review.
This sweet new economy car, if it's got a tried and true 4 cyl and thus gets this fantastic mpg, trumps any hybrid or EV! JMO!
I miss my old yaris IA. That was a fun lil thing with the 6spd manual
