Angelina's family is not musical - Angelina started singing on her own as a result of listening to Jazz Records played by her grandmother.
Thank heavens her family exposed her to great music early on.
As a 30 year old man, I've watched a lots of her videos on RUclips and I say she is the best singer in the frickin world....sorry to the other ADULT older famous singers but you can't sing ANYTHING like Angelina (especially at a super young age)....I mean, holy crap, she gives me goosebumps and shivers every single time I hear her voice. Holy smokes.
Regarding fame and celebrity: There are many examples of children who became famous at a young age. Sometimes some of these have had difficulties later in life! Angelina's family wants Angelia to have a normal upbringing and be a child and teenager like everyone else. When Angelina is off from school, she has performed in tons of shows all over the world. Most were charity shows for children. Angelina has lived in several countries and traveled a lot during her upbringing. She is well aware of the different conditions that exist in different countries! Angelina and her family have turned down many who wanted to sign a contract with her. But at 14 yo, she signed on for the Republic record. The condition of this contract is that Angelina and her family decide when it is time to promote her fully.

Angelina's parents were not singers. There is a clip of her singing Whitney in her crib at 18 months, holding a mic. She got her inspiration from her Grandma Mery, who was from Iran and a child prodigy in art and poetry. She is the one Angelina gets all her inspiration from. She speaks Norwegian, English, Farsi (grandma Mery) a little Japanese (Mery's husband was Japanese, and the song "Million Miles" that Angelina wrote is dedicated to him after he passed away) and she also speaks some Swedish from her father. She plays guitar, piano, and I'm also told flute and violin.
Actually, she was 7 when she entered "Norway's Got Talent" and had just turned 8 when she won it all. If you would like a list I have compiled of what I feel are 'not to be missed' songs, with the age when she sang them, they are posted below.

Angelina decides for herself. When it comes to the actual training and choice of songs etc., it has always been Angelina who made all the choices and decisions. Parents and others, on the other hand, have asked her to take it a little easier sometimes. Angelina is very special and her own driving force. Ever since she was 3-4 years old! Of course, all relatives and frends, have helped and protected her. Angelina and her closest, decided early on that she would have as normal a childhood as possible. Even when she won NGT, 8 years old, many wanted to sign a contract. Everyone was dismissed! And this Norwegian girl sings in English! Do you know that she speaks several languages. Hi ladies, Miss Angelina practices since age 3,5 her craft, almost daily. She is convinced, that she has to sing to the people for peace in the world. Around 2 months after her winning NORWAY GOTS TALENT, the people of Norway declared Miss Angelina Jordan Astar their National Treasure. A humble being herself, she says that she is just a normal girl, but musicians that worked with her praised her uncanny sence for music. If Miss Angelina asked: "Wouldn´t it be better to play this part in a higher key???" you can bet your car on it, that it is.
As friend Peter Johansson here told, she is an international child. She speaks Swedish, Norwegian, English, persian Farsi and Japanese fluently. In school she learned French and German and last year she sang a son in Spanish.
Her music instruments are the guitar and the piano, that she uses for composing her songs (since age 10, she has written 100+ songs)

Angelina is a master at this. Then, of course, she has a huge toolbox with various voice tricks to pick out if she wants! What a lovely reaction of 3 gens. Angelina was 8 here which was the age she won the Norway got talent competition. She was 7 when she auditioned for the show. Angelina is the first in her family to sing. Parents had other occupations. Her uncle, her manager, is who helped her get around the industry and a special lady and mentor her grandmother Mery Zamani who is also a prodigy, poet and artist introduced Angelina to Jazz. There are no singers in her family. Her maternal grandma, Mery Zamini, who was a child prodigy poet & artist growing up in Iran, is a big jazz fan & exposed Angelina to it at a very young age. By age 3 she was spending hours each day listening & singing with the legendary jazz singers from the past on YT. She has said she is pretty much self-taught & now, at 17, she is the most versatile & amazing vocal artist in my 76 years. I feel like you! I am also proud of Angelina and what she does. I do not know why. I just sit here and follow her career, year after year. Of course, I understand that my thoughts and what I think do not affect who she is! But after all these years, she is like a granddaughter to me. So the content of this is that I, like you, am very proud of Angelina.

As others have said, no singers or musicians in her family which makes what she can do even more remarkable. She is basically self taught and studied the jazz greats from RUclips videos starting at about 2 or 3. From what I understand she’s never had any formal vocal training or a vocal coach. In school she learned music theory and song construction. The vocal help she got was mainly to help her protect her voice.
She was actually 7 at her Norway’s Got Talent audition. The pace of her singing development is incredible. Her Gloomy Sunday audition was filmed about November 2013 (aired on TV early 2014). Her recording of I Put a Spell On You, which you reacted to, was from about March 2015 when she was 9, less than a year and a half after Gloomy Sunday. This appearance on the View was in between. Has Lulu seen I Put a Spell On You? If not she should check it out.
What musical talent she did inherit is probably her lyric writing ability as her maternal grandmother was a child prodigy in art and poetry.
It is very commonly believed and often repeated that she performed "Gloomy Sunday" in November 2013. The fact is (which can be documented at 100% certainty) that her audition was filmed on January 25th 2014 and aired on TV March 7th. - But you are definitely on point commenting her singing (and stage) development. It really is incredible!! - And she is still developing...
She was definitely not singing like that at 1 year of age but she learned the different ways to express song over the short few years in the rest of her babyhood. She saw Whitney Houston who inspired her to be a superstar and I thought she saw her on tv but later learned it was on RUclips. So there is footage of her belting out part of I Will Always Love You. 😮 lol I am quite sure her grandmother was bowled over. I would have been but since the child was holding a mic, I am just guessing that her grandmother already knew and was the one to hand her the mic.
Moral of story: don’t underestimate little kids or even little babies. Those children are already humans yeh? 😂
You're getting tired from all this vocal gymnastics! Angelina Jordan has nothing to prove. When she sometimes belts is it because the fits in the performances. She sings to us only she can!
Thanks for your reaction! She is only 17 years old today and from Norway. She signed with the label Republic Records just 14 years old, I think we can safely leave the promotion to Republic Record. Marketing will start when her full album is released later this year. There's only one EP with 6 songs she's released from RR now, and they haven't started marketing until the full album is released!. Republic Records know 100% what they are doing? I think a lot of people don't realize how much Angelina has done in her short life (17). FIFA song She performed in front of 40 000 people only 11 years old. She was also specially invited by Quincy Jones to perform on his 85th birthday in the O2 arena / London. And so on goes the list .... She has over 200 songs on RUclips.
The truth is that within a year or two she will be the artist for the big occasions. and not a "bare belly plastic artist" who tops a list for a week and is forgotten just as quickly. She already eats most female vocalists for breakfast, and the label Republic Records and the rest of the music industry know that too!

Angelina was 7 when she auditioned for Norway’s Got Talent. She turned 8 during the show and was 8 when she won. Yes, she was 1 1/2 when she started singing. At the age of six, she made four studio recordings, my favorite was “I, who have nothing.” She also wrote a book, “Between Two Hearts.” In it, she explains why she performs barefoot. She is the youngest published author in Norway. This girl is truly a gift from above to the world.

She had to be 7 yrs. old it is the youngest you can be. That was a good thing because Angelina really grew as a singer in that intervening year.

You have fallen into the vortex of Angelina Jordan who arguably brings the most confident, versatile, seemingly effortless, and fearless vocal artistry found today (whether measured across artists, genres, or decades). You may think this an exaggeration but listen to a few more of her many performances (170+ covers plus original songs - all on YT) and you will see! She has been performing at a high level all over the world since age 8 when she won Norway's Got Talent singing Billie Holiday, Nancy Sinatra, and Gershwin. It is the rare singer that can, as Angelina has done, go from Queen to "Screamin" Jay Hawkins to Adele to Elvis to Whitney Houston to Michael Jackson to Etta James to James Brown to Amy Winehouse to the Beatles (and many others in between) and do them all justice!
If you want to hear music, listen to anyone. If you want to feel music, listen to Angelina. She will stagger you with her ability to find and bring forth the 'essence', the emotional message of nearly any song. You have far to go with Angelina. She is equally comfortable and equally able to impact us whether singing a cappella, accompanied only by a piano or guitar, in front of professional studio musicians or a 40-piece military band. With her immense vocal toolkit, arranging ability (yeah, that too, since about 8yo or so) and the work ethic to make what she does only 'seem' effortless, she will hopefully be touching hearts for a long time to come.

Her family is not singers. The barefoot princess is pretty much self-taught. The next one you need to listen to cause I put a spell on you. It’s a 1956 Screamin’ Jay Hawkins song. Angelina at nine years old. Did the arrangement herself and knocked it out of the park as she does with all her covers. She’s absolutely an angel sent from Heaven. There’s no other way to describe the barefoot princess.
When Angelina was 12, she was invited by Quincy Jones to open his 85th birthday bash in London's O2 Arena with this same song, using the arrangement he created for Frank Sinatra. *Why Angelina always performs barefoot*
At age 6, while traveling in the Middle East with her mother and grandmother, Angelina noticed a girl around her age standing on the side of the road, asking people to step on her bathroom scale to be weighed in hopes of getting some money. Angelina took off her shoes so as to not get the scale dirty and stepped on the scale many times to make the girl feel better. Angelina befriends the girl who was not wearing shoes and has scars on her feet, and learns she is an orphan. The orphan girl tells Angelina how beautiful she thinks her shoes are. Angelina says her shoes don’t fit her well and she wants to give her shoes to the orphan girl who thanks Angelina for giving her the shoes.
Angelina asked the girl what she wanted to be when she grew up and the girl replied, “I want to become a doctor, but that will never happen since I have no parents and I have siblings so I have to do whatever is necessary for us to survive.” Angelina told the girl to never give up on her dreams. The poor girl asked Angelina what she wanted to be when she grew up and Angelina replied that she wanted to sing for the whole world. The poor girl said she would pray every day so Angelina’s dream would come true.
Angelina still says she thinks of that homeless girl every day and has always performed barefoot to remind her of all the children who are less fortunate. At age 9, she became the youngest published author in Norway’s history by writing a book about this encounter in the Middle East. began when she was 1-1/2. Then a You Tube video was posted where she
is laying on her back in her mom's bed, with a hand 'mic' and was 1-1/2. The

Watching this video again, I thought to anwer some Questions. She sang Whitney Huston in ENGLISH when 18 months old (there is a video). As a international child she speaks Norwegian/Swedish (Dad is swedish), English she learned early when visiting dad all over the world (he is a engineer), persian Fari (maternal grandma Mery Zamany, painter and poet from Iran), Japanese grandma Mery´s husband was a true japanese gentleman (words from Angelina). In school she learned German and French. She designs her clothes for the stage, often with grandma.
For her new music videos she draws the story boards for the director. She also employs the people in her videos. Today, to get a job with Angelina is a booster rocket for the career. NO Joke.

A barefoot princess with a hypnotic voice.
Born Angelina Jordan Astar on January 10, 2006 in Oslo, Norway to her Norwegian mother, Sara Astar and her Swedish father, Gerry Christian Slattman.
Angelina started singing around 18 months of age, after listening to Whitney Houston on RUclips. She quickly became obsessed with listening to music videos and her maternal grandmother, Mery Zamani got Angelina interested in classic jazz.
Mery Zamani is Iranian and was a prodigy as an artist and poet while growing up in Iran. Angelina attended the Oslo Waldorf School and participated in the Oslo School of Music and Performing Arts after-school program, where starting around age 4, she had training in music but no vocal training. Her teachers were smart enough to not attempt to change what she was doing vocally. More recently she along with her grandmother have designed and made the clothing she wears on stage.
Why Angelina always performs barefoot At age 6, while traveling in the Middle East with her mother and grandmother, Angelina noticed a girl around her age standing on the side of the road, asking people to step on her bathroom scale to be weighed in hopes of getting some money. Angelina took off her shoes so as to not get the scale dirty and stepped on the scale many times to make the girl feel better. Angelina befriends the girl who was not wearing shoes and has scars on her feet, and learns she is an orphan. The orphan girl tells Angelina how beautiful she thinks her shoes are. Angelina says her shoes don’t fit her well and she wants to give her shoes to the orphan girl who thanks Angelina for giving her the shoes. Angelina asked the girl what she wanted to be when she grew up and the girl replied, “I want to become a doctor, but that will never happen since I have no parents and I have siblings so I have to do whatever is necessary for us to survive.” Angelina told the girl to never give up on her dreams. The poor girl asked Angelina what she wanted to be when she grew up and Angelina replied that she wanted to sing for the whole world. The poor girl said she would pray every day so Angelina’s dream would come true. Angelina still says she thinks of that homeless girl every day and has always performed barefoot to remind her of all the children who are less fortunate.
At age 9, she became the youngest published author in Norway’s history by writing a book about this encounter in the Middle East. PLEASE PURCHASE Angelina’s book from her merchandise store on her official website, angelinajordanofficial Angelina, at age 6 and 7, did record a few songs in a recording studio at her school, most notably “I Who Have Nothing”, a truly remarkable performance for a 7 year old. At age 7, Angelina’s audition on Norway’s Got Talent, was a cover of Billie Holiday’s “Gloomy Sunday”, a song which was banned by a number of European countries during World War II because authorities worried the song would increase the suicide rate. Truly bizarre that this is the song to launch the career of a child musical prodigy. One of the judges on NGT cried. Angelina had turned 8 years old for her next performance on NGT, covering Billie Holiday’s “I’m a Fool to Want You” singing acapella which was required by NGT unless the singer also played an instrument while singing. This was the Judge’s cut round of the competition and was not performed in front of an audience. In the Semi Final round of NGT, Angelina sang “Bang Bang” which was written by Sonny Bono and was first performed by his wife Cher but is best known sung by Nancy Sinatra. The improvement in each performance is incredible even though there were only a couple months between them. In the Finals, Angelina did a cover of George Gershwin’s, “Summertime” and won the contest, capturing 46% of the votes from the ten finalists. When asked what she would like to do with the prize money she won (500,000 kroner or about $80,000), Angelina replied, “I want to give it to the poor children”. Angelina had become a star in her native Norway and her videos on RUclips went viral. She gave a few concerts during the summer of 2014 while 8 years old. In December 2014, Angelina realized a life-long desire to sing at the Save the Children's Peace Prize Celebration which is part of the Noble Peace Prize celebration. Angelina’s family took her to United States, Brazil, Germany, France, United Kingdom, Russia, South Korea, Singapore among other corners of Earth, to perform for heads of state and to help raise money for charity. All before Angelina turned 14. At age 9, Angelina recorded a music video covering the 1956 Jay Hawkin’s classic, “I Put a Spell On You”. The video begins by showing Angelina writing her “wishes” for how she wants to perform the song. Angelina has always created her own arrangements for her cover songs. At age 10 and just a week before her 11th birthday, Angelina recorded a demo of “I’m Still Holding Out for You”. Her family never pursued having that recording officially released but someone leaked it on a RUclips video. Thankfully, everyone involved with that song is now ok with the leaked version. Many angels (fans) believe this is one of Angelina’s best performances. When Angelina was 11, she performed a number of concerts in Norway with a jazz/rock band. Those concerts included up to 14 songs, each remarkably performed. Angelina seems to be at her best when on stage, never nervous, only 100% confident. Also at age 11, Angelina recorded her “It’s Magic” album which has, at times, been in the top 10 best selling jazz albums. On June 27, 2018, at age 12, Jordan performed Frank Sinatra “Fly Me to the Moon” for Quincy Jones in The O2 Arena in London. She has said that was the high point of her young career which was already in it’s 6th year. During 2018, Angelina lost her paternal grandfather, her friend Avicii and one of her idols, Aretha Franklin. She did a moving tribute for each. In 2019, Angelina accepted an invitation to compete in the 2nd season of America’s Got Talent (AGT), The Champions. She had, since age 3, wanted to perform for Simon Cowell and she earned his praise with her genius arrangement of “Bohemian Rhapsody”. The surviving members of Queen loved it so much they put a link to it on their Twitter. Angelina was eliminated after covering Elton John’s “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road”. Angelina’s family refused to sign any agreement with AGT. Angelina, before age 14, had covered more than 130 songs from 80 different artists, spanning at least 8 genres, all of which are available on RUclips. Angelina has always made changes to each song she covers and often her version is preferred over the original. On RUclips, search on The Complete Works of Angelina Jordan as Rusty Shackleford has put all songs in one file and has a complete playlist in the description of that video. The pandemic hit shortly after her performances on AGT and likely caused a change of plans by her family, most notably her Uncle Michael who is her manager. Her family agreed to a contract with Republic Records in August 2020. Republic Records declared Angelina Jordan their highest priority new artist. Reportedly her family requested Republic to allow her as normal a childhood as possible and therefore have yet to fully promote her. During the pandemic, Angelina was often seen buying meals for the homeless on the streets of Los Angeles. In November 2020, Angelina released “Million Miles” which she wrote after the passing of her beloved maternal grandfather. She dedicated the song to anyone who has ever lost a loved one. Angelina had previously released, 3 other original songs: “What is Life”, “Oslo” and “Shield” In April 2021, her original “7th Heaven” was released. A jazzy, danceable, inspiring song. Angelina has posted numerous short performances on Tik Tok and Instagram. Angelina had concerts in Norway in July 2022. In December 2022, Angelina performed at the Asian American Awards in Los Angeles. On 2/27/23, Angelina performed at the FIFA Awards ceremony in Paris, France, with a viewing audience in the millions. On May 5th, 2023, Angelina released her original "Love Don't Let Me Go". On July 23th she released her orginal EP “Old Enough”.
