I see others have mentioned Angelina is a jazz singer. While jazz is in her blood, she's done about eight different genres and done them all with extraordinary skill and beauty.

Angelina was 13 here. She started singing at about 1.5 yo. There is a video. She hit the studio at her afterschool music program and the rest has been history in the making and you just joined in. Congrats. Pick any of her 170+ song spanning almost 11 yrs. Angelina turns 17 on the 10th of this month. She has been signed to Republic Records at 14yo and has been there best kept secret and Angelina and her family requests not to be promoted until she is done with school and ready. Until then we get little tasty treats to help us get through the day. As most angels would agree she is a daily must! ENJOY

If I were you, I'd try my best to catch up on getting to know Angelina, her background story, and her huge body of work since she was six! Why? Because after she graduates high school in a few months, she's going to blow the lid completely off the music industry with her Republic Records album release and her world tour! Everyone will come to know her name quickly around the Earth and probably the solar system!

At age 6, while traveling in the Middle East with her mother and grandmother, Angelina noticed a girl around her age standing on the side of the road, asking people to step on her bathroom scale to be weighed in hopes of getting some money. Angelina took off her shoes so as to not get the scale dirty and stepped on the scale many times to make the girl feel better.
Angelina befriends the girl who was not wearing shoes and has scars on her feet, and learns she is an orphan. The orphan girl tells Angelina how beautiful she thinks her shoes are. Angelina says her shoes don’t fit her well and she wants to give her shoes to the orphan girl who thanks Angelina for giving her the shoes.
Angelina asked the girl what she wanted to be when she grew up and the girl replied, “I want to become a doctor, but that will never happen since I have no parents and I have siblings so I have to do whatever is necessary for us to survive.” Angelina told the girl to never give up on her dreams. The poor girl asked Angelina what she wanted to be when she grew up and Angelina replied that she wanted to sing for the whole world. The poor girl said she would pray every day so Angelina’s dream would come true.
Angelina still says she thinks of that homeless girl every day and has always performed barefoot to remind her of all the children who are less fortunate. At age 9, she became the youngest published author in Norway’s history by writing a book about this encounter in the Middle East.

I first came across her in you tube about ten years ago while she was on Norway’s got talent. And have followed her on and off through the years waiting for her to get to America where she could be known by the world. She is an old soul and she sang in every prior life she has ever lived. Born Angelina Jordan Astar on January 10, 2006 in Oslo, Norway to her Norwegian mother, Sara Astar and her Swedish father, Gerry Christian Slattman.
Angelina started singing around 18 months of age, after listening to Whitney Houston on RUclips. She quickly became obsessed with listening to music videos and her maternal grandmother, Mery Zamani got Angelina interested in classic jazz. Mery Zamani is Iranian and was a prodigy as an artist and poet while growing up in Iran.
Angelina attended the Oslo Waldorf School and participated in the Oslo School of Music and Performing Arts after-school program, where starting around age 4, she had training in music but no vocal training. Her teachers were smart enough to not attempt to change what she was doing vocally. More recently she along with her grandmother have designed and made the clothing she wears on stage.

Angelina, at age 6 and 7, did record a few songs in a recording studio at her school, most notably “I Who Have Nothing”, a truly remarkable performance for a 7 year old.
At age 7, Angelina’s audition on Norway’s Got Talent, was a cover of Billie Holiday’s “Gloomy Sunday”, a song which was banned by a number of European countries during World War II because authorities worried the song would increase the suicide rate. Truly bizarre that this is the song to launch the career of a child musical prodigy. One of the judges on NGT cried.
Angelina had turned 8 years old for her next performance on NGT, covering Billie Holiday’s “I’m a Fool to Want You” singing acapella which was required by NGT unless the singer also played an instrument while singing. This was the Judge’s cut round of the competition and was not performed in front of an audience.
In the Semi Final round of NGT, Angelina sang “Bang Bang” which was written by Sonny Bono and was first performed by his wife Cher but is best known sung by Nancy Sinatra. The improvement in each performance is incredible even though there were only a couple months between them.
In the Finals, Angelina did a cover of George Gershwin’s, “Summertime” and won the contest, capturing 46% of the votes from the ten finalists.
When asked what she would like to do with the prize money she won (500,000 kroner or about $80,000), Angelina replied, “I want to give it to the poor children”.
Angelina had become a star in her native Norway and her videos on RUclips went viral. She gave a few concerts during the summer of 2014 while 8 years old.
In December 2014, Angelina realized a life-long desire to sing at the Save the Children's Peace Prize Celebration which is part of the Noble Peace Prize celebration.
Angelina’s family took her to United States, Brazil, Germany, France, United Kingdom, Russia, South Korea, Singapore among other corners of Earth, to perform for heads of state and to help raise money for charity. All before Angelina turned 14.
At age 9, Angelina recorded a music video covering the 1956 Jay Hawkin’s classic, “I Put a Spell On You”. The video begins by showing Angelina writing her “wishes” for how she wants to perform the song. Angelina has always created her own arrangements for her cover songs.
At age 10 and just a week before her 11th birthday, Angelina recorded a demo of “I’m Still Holding Out for You”. Her family never pursued having that recording officially released but someone leaked it on a RUclips video. Thankfully, everyone involved with that song is now ok with the leaked version. Many angels (fans) believe this is one of Angelina’s best performances.
When Angelina was 11, she performed a number of concerts in Norway with a jazz/rock band. Those concerts included up to 14 songs, each remarkably performed. Angelina seems to be at her best when on stage, never nervous, only 100% confident.
Also at age 11, Angelina recorded her “It’s Magic” album which has, at times, been in the top 10 best selling jazz albums.
On June 27, 2018, at age 12, Jordan performed “Fly Me to the Moon” for Quincy Jones in The O2 Arena in London. She has said that was the high point of her young career which was already in it’s 6th year.
During 2018, Angelina lost her paternal grandfather, her friend Avicii and one of her idols, Aretha Franklin. She did a moving tribute for each.
In 2019, Angelina accepted an invitation to compete in the 2nd season of America’s Got Talent (AGT), The Champions. She had, since age 3, wanted to perform for Simon Cowell and she earned his praise with her genius arrangement of “Bohemian Rhapsody”. The surviving members of Queen loved it so much they put a link to it on their Twitter. Angelina was eliminated after covering Elton John’s “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road”. Angelina’s family refused to sign any agreement with AGT.
Angelina, before age 14, had covered more than 130 songs from 80 different artists, spanning at least 8 genres, all of which are available on RUclips. Angelina has always made changes to each song she covers and often her version is preferred over the original. On RUclips, search on The Complete Works of Angelina Jordan as Rusty Shackleford has put all songs in one file and has a complete playlist in the description of that video.
The pandemic hit shortly after her performances on AGT and likely caused a change of plans by her family, most notably her Uncle Michael who is her manager. Her family agreed to a contract with Republic Records in August 2020. Republic Records declared Angelina Jordan their highest priority new artist. Reportedly her family requested Republic to allow her as normal a childhood as possible and therefore have yet to fully promote her.
During the pandemic, Angelina was often seen buying meals for the homeless on the streets of Los Angeles.
In November 2020, Angelina released “Million Miles” which she wrote after the passing of her beloved maternal grandfather. She dedicated the song to anyone who has ever lost a loved one.
Angelina had previously released, 3 other original songs: “What is Life”, “Oslo” and “Shield”
In April 2021, her original “7th Heaven” was released. A jazzy, danceable, inspiring song.
Angelina has posted numerous short performances on Tik Tok and Instagram.
Angelina had concerts in Norway in July 2022.
Personally, Angelina as a great human being and her music came into my life when I needed it most. Her music has improved the quality of my life more than I can express. Congratulations! You just discovered the best Vocal Artist on the Planet! IMO This opinion is quickly being reinforced as her career is finally starting to I believe explode. Just over 6 years I have been following this young prodigy, and the biggest thing that stands out for me is, that she sings EVERY song with so much feeling and emotion that it makes me think she has actually lived each experience. I've said it numerous times, if anyone had told me years ago that when I was 68 my favorite artist would be a 16 year old girl, I would have laughed, yet here we are.

There will one day be a Genre of music invented just to describe Angelina Jordan. The rabbit hole is endlessly deep but it is the most enjoyable emotional amazing rabbit hole you will venture into. Great reaction.

Her skill set across genres is astounding. You will quickly find she has range and subtlety. Only in listening to many songs will you discover this. As a long time fan (She is 17 years old so how long can that be!) I can tell you l am constantly shocked by her growth. You ask yourself "how much better can she get?" And then she improves. It is a constant arc and we have yet to reach her apex. She will tirelessly and relentlessly work on improving her singing. You will see her singing in a car park, walking down the street, strolling in a park, literally anywhere. Singular determination and desire to improve. She is incredibly gifted (languages, art, music) but also she eats, sleeps and breathes music. Seriously! In an early interview (eight years old) she tells the interviewer she began searching the internet for songs at one and a half. And we know it is true BECAUSE there is video of her with a microphone at one and a half singing a line from I have nothing by Whitney Houston. In her crib! And you can see from that age until 16 she worked on that very song. Improving and improving until she got it to a point she could perform it properly to her exacting standards. This is a prodigy but an incredibly hard working prodigy only limited by her protective and loving family. No stage door mom here. And you will hear the stories from others. Why she performs barefoot. How she is supported by an uber talented grandma. How she dies charity work from the age of eight. How she gently controls and dictates the style and substance of performances. How other artists are in awe of her. Nothing like her in my lifetime. She pours her emotions into songs that often reduce viewers to tears. Funny thing. No matter how heart rending her performance we are left happy and hopeful about life. If you go down the rabbit hole you will see this time and time again.

Lady, on January 10th 2006 Angelina Jordan Astar, was born. She was filmed by her mom at 1,5 years of age, singing WHITNEY HOUSTON in her crib into a real microphone. At age 2 she discovered Jazz and all the greats. At age 3 she decided to practice singing about 36 hours a week, she still does that. Entering the academy of music and performing arts Oslo and later LA at age 4. Age 7 saw her entering Norways got talent and winning it at barely 8.
Lady, God gifted this human with very high intelligence and a deep voice, also she got the drive/obsession to sing for the whole world.

She is 13 and she arranged it. She started singing at 1.5 years old, heavily influenced by listening to recordings of jazz greats like Bill Holiday with her grandmother. She won Norwary's Got Talent at age 8, 2014. The original is a very well known hit by Queen, and yes it is her arrangement is very different--slowed down, simplified with a very different feel. The original was big and boisterous.

For NGT 4, "Summertime," Angelina performed in the style of Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong. This final video has 4 segments. The first is a spotlight on Angelina. I recommend watching this because you get to hear Angelina talking about herself. She's so young that her legs can only stick straight out as she sits and speaks to us. The second segment is the actual final performance. The third segment has the judges sharing their experiences and the feelings she's generated in them throughout the 2014 season. I highly recommend listening to these, as their words were quite powerful as well as prophetic. You just don't hear judges on any other Got Talent speak with this level of engagement.

- Who is Angelina Jordan -
Angelina is a Norwegian born child prodigy in music. She's a singer/ songwriter who's arranged over 180 covers and 5 originals, all since the age of 7.
Angelina began singing at 18 months old. At 2, she began teaching herself how to sing, focusing primarily on the jazz masters of decades gone by. These are artists such as Billie Holiday, Louis Armstrong, Ella Fitzgerald, and Etta James. She's also influenced by Amy Winehouse, Frank Sinatra, Whitney Houston, and Adele, to name a few. She's also been said to be the girl of 1,000 voices. Yet even though we can hear the phrasing and style she puts in the songs, it's always Angelina that we hear.
At 7 years old, she auditioned for Norway's Got Talent. She was the last to audition. The judges had no idea who she was or what she could do. They saw a diminutive mussy haired, barefooted girl with her teeth still growing in. For her audition, she performed "Gloomy Sunday" from Billie Holiday. On TV-2, they've reported over 14 million views of this performance. This does not take into account the many hundreds of reactors showing this audition to millions more.
Needless to say, Angelina went on to win the 2014 season of NGT shortly after her 8th birthday. The family was bombarded with requests for performances, interviews, and record label offers. They turned down 90% of the requests, as they insisted that Angelina should enjoy a normal childhood.
That didn't stop Angelina from performing at select engagements around the world, singing for Heads of State, and even Barack Obama. She's spent time and worked with musicians such as Quincy Jones and Alan Walker. She first appeared on American television, The View, at 8 years old.
Angelina auditioned for America's Got Talent The Champions at 13 years old. She made it just up to the final selection of the final 5 when she dropped from the competition. It wasn't that she wasn't good enough to be in the final 5, but it was because she refused to sign with an AGT affiliated label, should she win. She knew very well what production hungry labels could do to her music. She even turned down Disney.
At 14, Angelina signed with Republic Records. Republic gave her complete artistic control as well as control over the performances she would make. Angelina is now 16 and lives in LA. She turns 17 on January 10, 2023, and will graduate from high school after the spring semester. From then on, she will embark on her full-time professional career. She's been working closely with Republic on her first album under their label. It's likely that it will drop shortly after her graduation.
There's something that you will immediately pick up on when watching Angelina's performances. She never performs with shoes on.

Why does Angelina sing barefooted? Angelina Jordan is known as "The Barefoot Princess" or "The Barefoot Princess of Jazz," amongst many other names. She always performs barefooted, whether in front of a live audience or during a studio performance. The story is that while living in the Middle East, at age 6, Angelina came across an orphaned girl, of her own age, sitting in the street, weighing people on a bathroom scale to earn money. Angelina said to herself, "I would like to share her life for one second to know what it is like to sit alone, wet, and damp, and barefoot in a corner of the street." Angelina could see the girl's bare feet were scarred and that it was cold outside, so she offered her own shoes to the girl. Little Angelina says that she really loved her shoes, as they were very nice and she knew she would miss them. But she saw the other little girl’s need for them, which outweighed her own desire to keep them. So she insisted the little girl take them.
Angelina called her Princess, even though the girl said she didn't live in a castle, but the ruins of a building next to where she sat. After sharing their hopes and dreams, the little girl said of Angelina's wish to sing for the world, "You will become the one you dream of and when your dreams come true you, have to remember the poor children without shoes; and I will pray for you Angelina.” Later that day 6 y/o Angelina wrote in her diary, "The world is very strange. Right then and there, I felt as if a door in my heart opened up, and it was filled with lots of lights. It was as if there was, from Earth to Heaven, a staircase. I climbed the stairs. To be able to do something for another human - it was such a big thing…hard to describe really.”
From that point on, Angelina takes off her shoes, in honor of ‘Princess’ and all the other less fortunate children of the world, who are orphaned, hungry, or in want of even basic clothing. In 2015, at the age of 9, Angelina wrote a book about the encounter, as everyone continued to ask why she sang barefoot. Her grandmother, Mery Zamani, created the artwork for the book. So at 9, Angelina Jordan became the youngest published author in Norway. Angelina has performed alongside many other artists, raising attention and helping to raise over 21 million euros and millions of dollars for children in need.

Interesting first reaction! Next video to watch, Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen! This is a classic by this group. You should watch this first to compare what Angelina did, and what she did was fantastic! Anyways, you are going to be bombarded by her fans called Angels that will fill you in on this music prodigy with an old soul from Norway. She's basically been a star since she was 7 years old. First and foremost, she is a jazz singer but has the ability to sing any genre. She also does all of her own musical arrangements. Her early influences are Billie Holiday, Dinah Washington, and Etta James to name a few. Her love of jazz came from her grandmother playing jazz music around her when she was young. She entered and won Norway's Got Talent at the age of 8. With her new found fame, she used it to appear on many shows from abroad and help raise millions for the less fortunate children around the world. At age 13, she was invited to participate on America's Got Talent: The Champions in 2020. She shocked the audience and the judges with her rendition of Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen. She received a standing ovation from all and got the Golden Buzzer from judge Heidi Klum to go straight to the Finals. Her performance went viral and even the group Queen responded on Twitter by saying, " Wow, what a rendition!" Not only that, but she received the copyrights for her version of this song from Queen, which makes it hers now. She did not win, but her fan base grew and expanded her popularity.
Now 16 years old, (well 17 in about a week!) living in Los Angeles, and is signed with Republic Records, whose clients include Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande, The Weeknd, and Drake to name a few. Her family and Republic Records have agreed not to heavily promote her just yet so she can live as normal of a life as possible and finish her schooling. She is working on a new album of original music which will be coming out next year. She recently returned back to Norway and performed at a number of sold out concerts in which fans from around the world came to see her. Many of the fans there said she sounded better live in person and was a once in a lifetime experience.
Her fans call her The Barefoot Princess. She always performs with no shoes when she sings. Why? The reason is very special. When she was 6 years old, she was traveling with her family in Iran where she met a shoeless homeless girl in the streets that was about her age. She made money by weighing people. After speaking with her for a few minutes, Angelina noticed the scars on the girl's feet and asked the girl what her dream is. The girl said she wanted to be a doctor but she couldn't because she had to make money for her family. Angelina did what came natural to her, she gave the little girl her shoes and told her to not give up on her dreams. Since then, Angelina has performed barefoot in honor of that little girl and to those who are less fortunate around the world. She keeps this promise to this day. Ah, I see AJ's angels are descending upon your channel. If you choose to explore this rabbit hole you fell into, they will accompany and guide you. They, like AJ, are kind and loving but they can be a bit testy at times (unlike Angelina). Also, they sometimes disagree over minor details but not out of malice but simple human frailty.
AJ is a child prodigy reaching young adulthood, her 17th birthday is next week on the 10th. You will learn about her singing career, her philanthropic activities, the languages she speaks, the instruments she plays, her painting, sewing and even her writing to date (a book, 5 songs). So much.
But in the end, it's all about her love and compassion that stand out in everything she does and her family that protects and supports her.

She's pretty precious isn't she?. Hope you react to her Norway's Got Talent songs that she won mind you when she was 7 or 8. Anyway, the reason why I love your comment is because I’ve said you can teach somebody to sing with the right vocal coach and if they have the right foundation, then there are those who have a god giving gift and that’s this little girl.

Angelina also just turned 17 as January 10, 2023. she was 13 when she went for her audition on AMERICAS GOT TALENT THE CHAMPIONS. by the time the show was on t v she had turned 14. ALSO, after her audition for AMERICAS GOT TALENT THE CHAMPIONS, Simon and the shows producers approached Angelina and her parents about signing her to a contract. they wanted to pick and choose what songs she would sing and how she would sing them. Angelina and her parents all said thank you but no thank you. they felt she was still too young, plus she had chosen the songs she sang and arranged the live musical performances the way she wanted them. BECUASE ANGELINA turned the down, the show did not allow her to win, she didnt even make the top 5. her finale song performance was with 2 other performers so she didnt really get to showcase herself as much as she should have. the main focus of that performance was the sand artist. i have not watched the show since then.
@@BUDSBEAU Hi, There has been some discrepancy about her age when she did her first studio performance. Hi and many others have always thought it was six, but Rusty Shackelford stated that is incorrect, and she had turned seven. Not a big deal either way as she was very young!
