Hey Britt, totally agree with you on Angelina's use of runs. Never overdone, thoughtfully placed, and always music to my ears. She has tremendous respect for all of the artists she covers and the lyrics come first. Her arrangements never take away, and in many cases even enhance those lyrics. Vocal gymnastics are fun and Angelina could land as many 10's as anybody, but she doesn't play that game. Just another reason to love her! Have a great day Britt!
This is my favorite song she’s taken on and tackled in my opinion.
Angelina is her own orchestra in this performance. With just a piano for accompaniment, her perfectly executed riffs and runs fill in beautifully with the piano. This performance was my introduction to Angelina back in 2020 and I've been hooked ever since. Thanks for the nice reaction!

This time she has really reinvented the beauty, the color, the voice, the style of a mythical song and interpreter and she has created a little yellow jewel "made in Angelina". Tears again.... not because you reacted wonderfully to it. ;-) but it remembers me when i first heard the song in 1974 (some good friend brougth mit a compact cassette to germany, thx Jackie) i was in love with these harmonies. And she immediately beamed me back in time singing it with such an heartfull interpretation of it.

Sir Elton was enthusiastic about Sara's performance, the two then had a joint performance during a concert ( Sara Bareilles and Sir Elton John perform at The Breast Cancer Research Foundation's on April 28, 2014). Angelina’s runs are “organic” Britt. They are so much a part of the song, not capriciously added for effect.
BTW, I love your comment about what Angelina is wearing. If you take a closer look (when she spreads her arms during her spectacular “belt”) at her t-shirt, you’ll notice her likeness from when she was on Norway’s Got Talent. It is a portrait of Angelina painted by her Grandma, Mery Zamani! 🥰

Every song Angelina covers sounds like it was written for her. She makes the song what it should be and you forget the original artist.
This such a wonderful delicate interpretation of this song, just so beautiful. As I see it, she is about story telling and her runs are aimed at doing that and they are not aimed at showing of her skill. She can’t help but showing that to us but that is happenstance in a way :-) I love that long blast and I think I like that long top to bottom run on ‘toad’ towards the end even better. Always so artistic in her use of symbolic intentions. Just speculation but at this point in the AGT process I believe she knew she didn't want to sign with Syco Entertainment, Simon's label. And this Elton John original was her way to reflect that she wouldn't be taking that "yellow brick road". She expresses herself best in song. Her family had turned down many offers before and after this until finally signing with Republic Records because they were satisfied Republic was onboard with her sentiments. But AGT did give her much more international exposure. At 13 to have the composure and professionalism she showed is inspiring. She is always such a thoughtful and attentive young lady. Good reaction.

They had to shut down the video of Bohemian rhapsody, because the rights gone all to Angelina from legendary Queen. She released it by her own on all platforms 💕

(If you get a chance you should check out the original - just to understand how much Angelina creatively reimagined it.) While I've listened to the original many times, Angelina's singing it allowed me to really hear & understand the song for the 1st time. Angelina did not creatively reimagine this song. Sara Bareilles did, and Angelina did a version of Sara's interpretation. You can say that you like Angelina's version better, that's totally fine and your opinion, but please do not pretend like Angelina created this arrangement. Sara Bareilles deserves sole credit for that.

Here is my opinion on the Angelina magic. Strip it down slow it down. I think this is how she make every cover she does better than the original.
This Elton John song - from"the Wizard of Oz". have never been presented so understandable to me before Angelina did it, but I bought Elton Johns lp "yellow Brick Road" when it camne out. It is 50 years old later this year.
"Her (Angelina's) runs are just so - I can't find the word ..." Brit, the word is "tasty." This speaks to Angelina's stunningly advance musicianship, her mature interpretation. This may be her best quality among the so many great qualities that she has. ... The song was written and originally performed by Elton John. It was a huge hit for him. You need to listen to her first piece for AGT---Bohemian Rhapsody! Then go on to her most recent "Supicious Minds" from Elvis, and her own originals, "Millions Miles-- the black and white live version," and "What is Life" with piano and guitar. She is 13 hear by the way. (Elton John wrote and sang it). She is now 16, I think.

Actually, this is an Elton John song. And is written very much in his style, for his voice. She just completely changed it, not only making it her own but making it sound like a new song when it’s like 50 years old, covered 100 times.

I believe this performance by Angelina was based more on a rendition of this by Sara Bareilles than on the Elton original. The thing we forget when we say "this or that song was perfect for Angelina" is that she makes it perfect. She chooses her voicings, embellishments, tempo, and all the rest to most effectively drag the song into her world then delivers it as though it were hers alone!
Another thing is, she never gets in a hurry. Everything she does has a fitting place and time (as you said), as though it always was intended to belong how and where she puts it. Maybe one day she'll explain how! Until then we simply enjoy!
After listening to Sara's version, I have to say I disagree that Angelina was influenced more by it. I think you say that because of the lone piano accompaniment and just her voice. They both sing in key, so there's that but Sara adheres much more to Elton's original, whereas Angelina does not. Angelina's reimagining of it is FAR more original and individual. I would say to others: don't let the naked piano and the soft tone throw you. Angelina's take is distinct and her own. Nope, not really like Sara's.
