    Marco Polo is also just a really famous historical figure and not sure if it’s around in Europe as well, but there’s an old swimming pool game called Marco Polo as well.

    The Mongol empire was the largest land continuous empire. Their treatment of places was usually determined by the cause of the conflict (like if your city committed some egregious action against them), how soon one gave in, how expendable or valuable your city was alive than dead, and how necessary your location was to the empire.
