You obviously have everyone on stage in your thrall- it‘s a masterclass in authority.
I believe that your interest in chamberwork makes you so aware of the playing of others, and your obvious delight in music- making is there for all to see!
    You are THE one.

She is utterly amazing. Like me, she has been trained on both the violin and the piano, but she is far better than I can ever be.

As far as I know Julia Fisher is the only one who can perform a violin concerto and a piano concerto on the highest level. Her interpretation of the Grieg piano concerto is a marvel!

Kreisler once played, upon short notice, the orchestral transcription of the Mendelssohn VC accompaniment on piano. Enescu was also a great pianist, there is a roll of him playing a transcription of "Zigeunerweisen". However, they are both dead, so they "can"'t perform a violin concerto and a piano concerto on the highest level--all they can do is rot in their graves. Thank god that they live on in their recordings.

I love this particular video of the concerto, because she looks like she‘s really enjoying playing with the conductor and orchestra ( i also love her smile towards the end of the final movement!
She makes you thrilled just to listen and watch her, and her experience in ensemble work brings an extra dimension to her interaction with the orchestra.

We are lucky to have both this and her other performance on YT, but in this one the accompaniment/conducting is particularly good. Her playing is amazing in both of course. I adore her interpretation, just seems so natural.

@FSS2000 Well, in the score the composer put the first and second violins together. For me it's the best disposition. I believe that the composer didn't want it "concertato".

  • @MrKlemps

This concerto's structure has never been made so clear but with no sacrifice of expression. The latter grows from the former intrinsically. Fischer and Jurowski are probably the two most musically thoughtful performers before the public today. Curiously neither of them have any career to speak of in America. Why is that? Jurowski was a serious contender for the Boston Symphony job after Levine left, and the Orchestra hired Andris Nelsons. Nelsons! Think of it. A fine conductor but on an entirely different level of musical sensibility from the one that Jurowski inhabits. Fischer can play rings around Hilary Hahn but Hahn is the best-marketed soloist around. Why is that? Who pulls the strings whereby the first-rate are more or less shunned?

Sorry to say, the orchestra is too noisy.
