A fan from your 2A channel here. I have to say that I'm kind of disappointed that you would even buy a Tesla since the EV sector is entirely subsidy driven and thus not free market. The market distortions that occur because of subsidies are destructive, introduce inefficiencies into the economy and can even cause an economy to slow or even grind to a halt. For instance, this dynamic is what caused the UK to virtually grind to a halt in 1978. California is creaking under the weight of state government interference in the economy.

This is a walk in the park compared to my plaid. While yours is very unacceptable, my 22' Red S Plaid has been in the shop for almost two months for a ton of body work (still on-going). There were door chips, white PRIMER all over the quarter panel, compound on every edge of the car, and deep scratches on the glass roof. They have to replace my entire roof and paint match the imperfections. Oh, the kicker? I have a door DENT on the passenger rear door and orange peel all inside the trunk which is also getting re-sprayed lol. I accepted delivery because I was tricked and on pickup day the car was incredibly dusty which hides all the imperfections under a layer of dust. After I cleaned it up, I was in for a big surprise. Enjoy the car for what it's worth, but I have to agree with you on every statement, this is unacceptable for $140k+ car. I regret my purchase. I hope I enjoy the performance and car once this nightmare is finally over and the car is back in my possession.

    • @DGinNC

I hope you get a chance to enjoy it too, that story sucks. that is extremely crazy they deliver cars dusty and all messed up... no fricken way I would spend that amount of money if I had it... the service issues alone with how long it takes is crazy too, fast cars yes, but man is it really worth the major hassel? God forbid you get into a fender bender, I watch Wham Bam Tesla Cam all the time and the smallest of hits causes the most outrages bills for the fix, and looooonnng times in service... you'd think with all that money coming in to Tesla, they would address these issues.

Hey Jarod, great vid. I follow your Guns & Gadget channel, appreciate all that you share there. I'm a auto detailor here in Texas. The product I would suggest is call Rapid Remover. It's water soluble adhesive remover and is really good on exterior and interior surfaces. Goo-gone, I'm not sure I would trust on a leather interior piece but before you try it, read the description on what it'll clean and if it's got any chemicals in it. Hope that helps. Thanks for all you do for the 2A community.

I bet SpaceX has far better standards. The E man has admitted many times that he only owns the other businesses to fund SpaceX and ultimately get to Mars. I doubt he owns any of these cars. When he was younger he had McClarens and cars with a soul. Even if I loved these things I'd never buy a car that logged a drivers score or wanted micro transactions as part of ownership. Hate to be the guy but it's only a matter of time until a politician is able to push a button and disable every microwave with wheels on the road with no collateral damage.

IDo you have any idea as to the work thats involved in establishing the connections necessary to to get the advance information that Jarod now gets? I think you too would congratulate him on the fine job he does if you understood what it takes. Decades ago I worked as a lobbyist on a particular cause and have a decent understanding of the time it takes to develop the contacts in the industry and on the hill. He's done more in the past four years than most outsiders could do in plus TEN. If you want to call it stroking his ego so be it. At least have the common courtesy to give him kudo''s for the efforts and dedication he puts into this fight for what he believes in. I would challenge anyone else to follow his lead and actually get involved in the fight to defend what is ours. That would be our God given right to defend ourselves & family and our Constitutional Right to exercise the 2nd Amendment as we see fit.

@@chrisriker6421 I have, numerous times. Just on his other channel. I guess I just find it odd that’s he’s complaining about his issues with his 130k car in a time when people are living paycheck to paycheck, inflation is at a all time high, and good honest people can’t make ends meet, and he’s complaining about a car that most of his viewers I’m guessing couldn’t afford, I know I’ll never be able to, I don’t think E Cars are a viable option and it’s total hypocrisy when the electricity that charges the car comes from fossil fuels, but I think paying 130k is just a status symbol that he’s hit it big with Guns and Gadgets oh and of course the 24 years he’s worked. I think the video whining about his petty little car problems was in very bad taste given the given state the country is in. You can call me a “Karen” if you like hell Jared did, I would have thought he would have been more “adult” reply about honest criticism but I guess not.

2 things to try for the adhesive. A slightly watered down microfiber rag with alcohol, if that spot is industrial adhesive, try a small amount of goo gone followed by a wipe down with the alcohol to remove the citrus. I have removed Tessa tape adhesive stuck on wires with 90% isopropal alcohol, comes right off. Once done I swear by Griots interior cleaner and interior detailer, worth the price. You can use them both on any surface inside your car with excellent results. Not sure if I could deal with the lack of exhaust sound to be honest. I drive a 500hp 2020 Mustang GT where I installed a full Steeda racing suspension, variant wheels with pilot sport 4s, 275-30-20 front and 305-30-20 rears and straight pipes, along with a lot of other mods. I installed an audiophile sound system as well. I love the power but there are other factors I love like the exhaust sound. What is the top speed on the Plaid?

    Jarod,
I’ve been watching your other channel for years, but your Type S compels me to respond, so here’s my story.
I was at a wedding July 4th week and rented a 2021 Type S Plaid four five days. I rented it because the wife wants to get one. Well after the week of driving it I was disappointed in the car, but the wife loved it due to the technology. So, when we got home we spent hours over a couple days watching videos from dealers to owners and read countless articles about Tesla’s issues. So, at that point I was a big NO, but again the wife wanted one still, but was at least aware of the pains that come along with them and at least wanted to check them out at our nearest Tesla dealership. Well needless to say, when we walked in, there were no cars on the lot or the show room and the people working were there just standing around talking and ignored us. When I approached them, the women rudely stated in an angry voice that they be right with us in a moment. After waiting about another five minutes I said forget it and walked out. When I was going to my car, a man came running out to ask to help me, but I told him not after that bitch was rude to us.
So, the way I see it, the Type S is a fancied up family sedan that happens to go fast. I’d rather get her a Porche Panamera S. As for me, I can afford it, but the rational part of me says no I don’t need it, a Porche 911 Turbo S.
Once you’ve lived a dirt poor, hungry childhood, it’s hard to spend money frivolously on yourself. When buying for the wife, it doesn’t seem to bother me, just not for me.
Oh, and as for the Tesla, I’ll wait at least another 5 to 10 years before I jump into that realm. I’m going to let that tech get much better first. It is a nice car overall though.
    Cheers

By far, my biggest gripe about my model Y (now sold), was the real world charging and battery life experience. Not only do you get about 2/3 stated range, the batter is constantly depleting, so in cold weather climates, you’ll go to sleep with 70% and wake up with 59% without having driven it.

All said and done, I "SHOULD" be getting just under 600hp (550 to580 maybe more) at the flywheel and around 450-ish to the ground. Not building a mudd'n truck... I have an episode content suggestion involves a very same car. I have heard on the inter-webs that these cars have one additional camera that you cannot turn off it’s always recording and somehow suggested it’s even hidden perhaps you could do a video on that very subject because I haven’t seen it yet.

Same issue i am having with my MX Plaid. Every item i have listed, they keep telling me its within specs, until i told them that I would have not accepted delivery if they told me, all those items will NOT be fixed. Tesla has great computer engineers and according to them, they have the best manufacturing process. With all these assets and great minds, TESLA cannot even fix those simple issues like gaps, cars being detailed prior to delivery, customer service, and scheduling appointments. All TESLA cares is selling computers installed in a body of a car, and hope no one complains. A six figure car is a LUXURY vehicle that should be build like the top of the line vehicle.

Clorox wipe for the adhesive might be worth a try. They are amazing for ink.
My father has a '71 Mercury and the horn was a soft ring on the inside of the steering wheel. Very slick and easy to use.
I bought a 2021 F150 Powerboost that does 0-60 in 5.4 seconds. It stickered for 63k and I got it for 55k. I am very pleased with everything except. Extremely quiet and great fit and finish. Tesla seems to really need to work on their quality control for that kind of money.

My friend worked at Tesla and his cousins work there (Stonets). That's why the car has issues. Also, Silicon Valley is known for companies that "fake it till they make it" so don't be surprised about the end product. That body panel alignment is ridiculous, it should have never made it to the lot. There's a possibility the bolts weren't torqued correctly.

Subscribed, came over from G&G...hoping for the best.
I agree with your evaluation, and WOW, odd as these issues would be on ANY vehicle in this price-point.
And NOPE would not buy any EV at this time. 'Cuz, 1) These cars start-new with a carbon footprint as much as 30% higher than a regular IC auto of the same segment, 2) the US power grid cannot carry the burden of everyone making the switch to EV, 3) many of the EV specific bits and pieces are only available from China and/or places under China's control.
For me...keeping the old vehicles running and like-new is a much more environmentally friendly and pro-US transportation medium.
    But, glad you enjoy it.

First thing first. I love your other channel Guns and Gadgets and I moved over here to watch your other channel. That being said. OH HELL NO!!! For the amount of money That you have spent on that car, it should not be like that. There should be no residue whatsoever in the vehicle the gaps between the panels and the hood are atrocious and the gap between the door and the left fender is unacceptable. The paint should not be off the car and the door should not be even rubbing. You just changed my outlook on that vehicle.

On the adhesive on the console, get 5 or 6 inches of sealing or packaging tape and form a loop with the tape's sticky side out.
Gently tap it on the adhesive smear and it should come off.

For the sticky bit, get clean packers tape and press it onto the gunk, pull it off in different directions. Should pull off the stuff and won't leave any of its sticky.
Good luck, I hate that crap.

Try using WD40 on that adhesive. Use a soft cloth such as a microfiber towel. WD40 works great for removing sticky stuff without damaging the surface.

My dad was a mechanic and he always looked at every car I purchased. His 1st look would be at the hood of the car. When they were out of alinement he could tell you if the car had been wrecked, rolled or what ever. I can tell you by looking at the things you have pointed out that it appears that your car has been wrecked and the hood was not lined back up right. No way should that door be rubbing the front fender that way. As for the sticky spot on your console, try a little 91% rubbing alcohol on a cotton ball and rub gently it should rub right off. Love Ya Bubby I hope I was able to help Ya.

Misaligned panels, hoods, and lift gates are very common in NEW Teslas.

  • @kennguyen1594

When I picked up my '23 standard S (looks exactly like your minus the trunk spoiler), I inspected it really good. My S was VERY clean inside and out. All the panel gaps look good until I got home. The only thing that did not line up is the trunk. The trunk needs to be adjusted so that the taillights line up. In the day time it's not bad, but at night when the driving lights are on, you can tell they dont align. Not a big issue. I'll schedule for service. The yoke is what gets me. I hate it with a passion. Takes away daily driving enjoyment.

Over herre from that one other station; because I heard about horsepower and speed and if I knew it was for electrics...... PS: On the adhesive, try a piece of duct tape. Press it against the adhesive and pull, several times. It probably won't work,,, but it might and it definitely won't hurt the leather.

My green ride is a 1984 El Camino. It has a 1967 327 with a L79 cam and a 4 barrel carburetor Weber. TH350 that is getting changed to a 700r4 with a monster transmission kit.. 3.73 carbon fiber posi pack. Rear sway bar and new four link. Two inch drop in the front. Have a NOS system for it I'm thinking of putting in and take it to my local track. Unfortunately only a eighth mile. I don't understand the self driving vehicle. The reason I get any ride is for the enjoyment of driving the hell out of it. Nice ride just not a battery fan

Congratulations on your new ride. It's great to see your passion and attention to details for cars are the same for your stance on the 2A. Unfortunately it appears Teslas QA and attention to detail, especially on a flagship vehicle, are severely lacking.

I do leather steering wheels and use contact cement as part of the process and that stuff looks like contact cement. Use a damp cloth and some pressure and that stuff will roll up into a small booger and come off with no chemicals at all. Im not at all into the EV scene. Im pretty up to date on it but not a fan at all and would never park one in my garage.
