    Oh my gosh! I remember watching every one of these flips. I’m obsessed with the newest version of your dining table at the moment but the next one you do will be my favourite then too 😂

      I just loved watching these all again- like Katie mentioned I also loved learning from you in all these videos over the years. You ladies helped inspire me to start my own you tube channel- not furniture but cooking! youtube.com/@fromdorothyskitchen
      Thanks for inspiring me!

    I love your work. I enjoy your videos very much.
    I am a person who doesn't mind doing chairs because painting and staining is my therapy. It brings me peace. Maybe that makes me weird 😂. I have not purchased a new set for many years either. I have never had any problem quickly selling my table set when I decide to change it up.

    Gorgeous! BTW: You are the first furniture upcyclers I've followed and inspired me to recreate at least 7 pieces. I'm now brave enough to sell a piece.

    Thank you for showing us the variety. I have learned to really wet the wood with rag and water before you put a wash on it…comes out even.

    Table two may have had a better stain if using a wood primer as it allows stain to go on and be penetrated evenly. They all look so beautiful and are ready for families.

    I bought a Drexel mcm dining table for $60 last year. It looked rough but I just had to strip and restain it and it perfect! It took a few hours and I have a piece worth $1600 that I paid less than $100 including supplies.

    Hi. I love your work! I have a question. When sealing chalk paint, does it still feel like chalk? I will be remaking my first set of end tables and want a smooth feel to them.
    Thanks!

    • @ChristinaMuscari
      @ChristinaMuscari  Год назад +2

      After you seal they won’t be chalky anymore. They will be smooth with a sealer on them.

    What would u suggest how to do that. The table has the pedestal bottom like the two tone game table. Nice look, thanks

    I am really learning a lot about refinishing furniture from you and enjoying watching your videos. I noticed you said that when you were refinishing your dining room table taking it from a farmhouse look two more modern, you said the general finishes top coat and flat did not yellow, but then at the end of the video when you refinished the side table you said you used the same top coat and said it could yellow. I'd like to refinish a kitchen table that has a cherry top and thinking that I need to shellac it first to seal in the red and then paint it white and would like to know what the best sealer I can use is as it is a kitchen table. I don't comment very often on videos. Not even sure how you get messages and can respond.

      It can yellow over white paint, but it doesn't yellow over stained wood. White paint can be tricky. You have to be willing to troubleshoot. I would use at least two coats of Zinsser BIN shellac based primer. I like Varathane Ultimate Water based poly for a job like that. Or you could use the General Finishes. It's more expensive and harder to find though. Let me know if you want links to anything. Good luck!

    I’ve used Minwax black gel stain and used Minwax Polycrylic sealant. It left a foggy appearance. I’m getting ready to use the General Finishes Java gel and I’m worried about getting the same foggy appearance. You mention that in your video. Can you tell me how to keep that foggy look from happening?

    Great video. Does the varnish not yellow the white paint? I’ve always been told that it will.

      Sometimes it does and sometimes it doesn't. So you take a risk in using it.

    I also re-did my dining table with BM furniture and cabinet paint and the sales person told me not to use a topcoat....Was that correct? It doesn't feel very smooth and I am worried it might not last with a topcoat. Thanks

    • @ChristinaMuscari
      @ChristinaMuscari  Год назад

      Yes, with a cabinet paint there would be no need to topcoat.

    Do you make enough money flipping furniture (after cost) that allows for all the expenses of the standard of living that is obvious in your videos? I mean if total sells are $5,000 and costs are $1,000 (including expensing out the cost of equipment, supplies and labor hours?) = $4,000 (let's say) a month profit = pay the 'household' bills? Not from what I know about the cost of that standard of living. Wait, I forgot: Income from You Tube, Instragram, etc? Product endorsements? Without the latter, would you need your standard of living subsidized by a 'regular' job or others?
    Do you have children? Are they in school? How do you get them to stay out of the way? Is part of your expenses someone to help with household jobs, cooking, etc that are mostly a wife's/mother's job. Now that I am old and disabled, I cannot do this type of work or any work. When I was younger, I was too busy with a 'regular' job, all jobs mandatory to 'manage' 3 kids, husband, in laws, etc ... I do not believe I could have made any money simply flipping furniture. Do you think you or anyone else can or does without RUclips, et al / endorsements @ a price that could affect re-sale?
    Like flipping houses back in the 1990s, where many people actually lost their homes, there is implication flipping furniture is a profitable endeavor. If you are successful whereby you could maintain your standard of living by simply reselling flipped furniture, YOU GO. :-)
