IP68 isn't worth much because nobody garantuees you that your phone doesn't get damaged by water and if it does you're fucked, so I wouldn't risk it anyway. But I agree it's too expensive.

U get unlimited store save in Google. It's splash resistance so u can just play with phone while it's raining. Why u even need fully water resistance.. unless you are clumsy.. well then u should blame yourself not the phone.. u do get headphones.. and I never undertake wireless charging... u dont need a wire.. but yet u need to put the phone on the wireless-charging box..

Wireless causes audio lag and battery drainage
audio lag has been eliminated some years ago with software. (ultra fast buffering etc). As for battery drainage, yes but in a veeery small amount, much worth it to most people since you can do many things like drive, jog, walk and not have to wrestle all the time with the DAMN CABLE!!!!!!

Another thing you did not consider...when you put your phone in your pocket but use your earphones at the same time..if the headphone Jack is at the top of the device, this allows the cord not to get fucked up while resting underneath your device in your pocket, allowing it to further damage the wiring. I mean it is annoying during other situations, but it's not a BIG deal. Lol (But then you can have your phone flipped the other way) - so really everything I just said does not even matter but I am too lazy to delete the comment. cARRY ON.

I always wanted a phone that feels as premium as an iPhone but has Android as it's operating system. The pixel came in, I bought it, I love it. And trust me guys, it is way more better than an iPhone be it in terms of camera or the feel or the swiftness of operating it. everything is just brilliant. I got a very good deal in my country in exchange of my old Nexus 5, so the pricing for me was good too. Go for it !!!
I've got the exact same imagination for a decent phone as you do. Iphone quality but android operated. Used an iphone for couple of years before it just got too expensive and inconvenient at least for my taste. Nowadays I'm using a Samsung but would like to try something "innovative".
Anyway to cut story short: Do you personally use the google assistant rather often or is this a feature that gets pushed into the backseat fairly quickly once uve got it?

I think the design is gorgeous. I don't know why people don't like it. I would rather have bezels than block the screen with my hands most of the time when consuming media and playing games. While small bezels look prettier, but they are not very practical for a phone. If I ever switch to Android, I would get the Pixel XL. But there is a mighty "IF".

Hope the big if becomes a small one XD you're missing out. your points about the bezel are true, my Moto Z Force has huge bezels (bigger than I'd like) but they work with my gaming and RUclips watching.

+Anuja Ariyaratne not aesthetics only. They wanted to implement metal on the phone, but they put glass on the top half, so it will help with better signal reception. Also if the phone was metal throughout, there would be a camera bump, meaning you cannot place the phone screen up without the risk of scratching up the camera glass. They aren't stupid to just randomly use two materials :)

I love having a finger print scanner in the back! Especially when your phone is mounted on the dashboard in your car, and you're driving, and you have to unmount it to use the scanner….I LOVE IT!

Aperture size has no correlation with camera performance. That's like arguing for more megapixels.
Well, it's not really only about aperture size. The sensor size and thus pixel size is huge. Bigger than that of S7 and iPhone. So it should perform really well in low light.

It kinda does...aperture controls how much light can hit the sensor. An aperture of 2.0 will take in less light than an aperture of 1.8. Megapixels is just about how much detail the sensor can take in.
Gnarled That is actually exactly why phones have poor performance in low light. You can't get enough light with small apertures without leaving the shutter open for several seconds (which would require a tripod and a still subject for a good picture).

That phone looks like an iPhone, very mature and minimalistic. And I think you know how many millions of iPhones are sold each year. Even I bought one because I wasn't happy with the current offering of Android devices at the time, and I have been with Android/Cyanogenmod for a long time.

I never realized the importance of a water resistant phone till I came to the US. It's been pouring rain and my iPhone 5S crashed as soon as a few droplets started seeping through, and kept happening every time it got wet.
i honestly never got my phone wet or anything like that but it is a nice feature to have. Especially at this price point where your paying for a premium,. If the pixel was for $350 or $399 then i could let it pass but paying $650+tax and it not water proof ? that my friend is a slap in the face

Great video! My quick impressions:
- the two-tone glass/metal should be swapped to take advantage of wireless charging.
- the bezels are way too big for on screen nav keys and rear fingerprint
- the camera looks great
- the pixel launcher means nothing to me. Download Nova Prime and customize everything. You could literally set up everything seen here.
- If I'm going to pay top dollar, I want waterproof, expandable storage, dual speakers, or any other unique features that other OEMs are putting out. This phone has none of that. Therefore, I can't see dropping $600-$700 just to have a G on the back.

What a waste.... It just doesn't make sense. The front facing speakers were a big selling point. Now a days.... I don't see a lot of people actively listening to music from the actual phone. Usually have headphones. But sometimes it's nice for watching snapchat or a quick video. Why take something away that was so good?!
Ordered Google pixel last week. Really excited for the built-in Google assistant, ios like design(must admit) but my preferred OS inside :P I am also excited for the 128 gb device storage and unlimited cloud storage. Overall, I am a Google technology lover so hopefully I will love the phone.

For Google's FIRST independently manufactured phone, I'm gonna say it's not a terrible effort. It's enough to compete against some of the top tier phones in the market. I mean hell, I'm seeing people comment about switching from Apple & giving this phone a try. It's a pretty solid foundation that Google has set up for itself with this phone. Hopefully as they progress they'll start to make a name for themselves in the smartphone market. Best of luck Google!

More difference is that the Pixel XL has QHD and the Pixel has FHD.
Like people are gonna look at the regular sized one and go: "Eewwww, so pixelated!!"
It matters for VR experiences, which is what this phone is also intended for.
So yes, the people that care for the VR experience will prefer the XL one.
People that don't care about the VR experience won't care _that_ much no. (either way, people's preferences may differ)
Well since it's created for VR it's a pretty huge deal actually...
They might, the difference is quite noticeable side by side.
Also with VR on a 5 inch screen you will be able to see the frame of the phone in your periphery.

Was such a good phone when I used it. It was my favorite phone. Even after going to the LG G6 I missed a lot about it. Now I have the note 9 and the only thing I miss is the stock Android. Note 9 is new favorite

Depends on who you ask. For me it is. I would never keep buying LG phones if The Nexus or HTCs had removable Batteries. And I use the IR Blaster more than my remotes. But I can live without it. But like its a great additional feature.
This phone looks amazing. I definitely am going to try to get the second generation as my current phone iPhone 6s isn't payed off, and I want the second generation of Pixel for a more protective structure.

I was soo happy with my nexus 5x because of the price and I was planing on buying the pixel but it's waaayyy overpriced.
just get the nexus 6p,its much more worth
don't invest in older tech, not worth it. If you really want the media consumption, get axon 7, user interface and experience then get pixel.

Two days in with my new pixel and I have to say it is by far my favorite Smart phone I've ever experienced. emphasis on smart it is truly the Smartest phone on the market. I've used many Android and iPhone s but so far I'm blown away by what Google is doing from here on out. thanks for the great videos!
Please talk about whether the pixel/xl is worth upgrading to from the 6p. Like most people, I was hesitant about the 6p because of its size but it was the only premium nexus there was. How does the pixel battery life compare to the 6p? Is the footprint of the XL smaller/more comfortable than the 6p? 6p was so big that having a case is almost impossible.
