Except in Pixel it won't affect much since 15 mins of charge will give you 7 hrs of battery. So you won't really need to use charger and headphones simultaneously.
That's crazy. A couple years ago we would have praised this phone for having an almost full front display. Now just by seeing a few, if any bezel is a hair smaller, it's worse.
You've said it right, a couple years ago it would've been praised because there wasn't any other phone with better bezel-less design back then. This isn't the case now.
Dallasmed65 When phones get that good the only way to measure them is by what's wrong with them. I think Marques mentioned this in his video about the Perfect Smartphone.
issaciams You have to take into account how big 3.5 mm is inside a smartphone. Smartphone manufacturers could use that space to do so much more valuable things like expand their battery, make their phone more compact, or fit the screen's display drivers in a better place to further minimize their phone's bezels. Not to mention how much easier water sealing smartphones is without the jack and the convenience factor of one day living in a world where connecting to your computer or phone or whatever for file transfer or music or whatever all uses the same port. All that just by removing a 3.5 mm jack and just including a dongle in the box. A dongle people are just going to plug their headphones into and completely forget about. Seriously guys, it's not a big fucking deal at all and the benefits faaaar outweigh you having to remove your dongle from your headphones every time you want to plug the aux cord into your phone.
Hovercraft and yet the LG V30 still has a headphone jack while having tiny bezels, water resistant, Hifi DAC, decent battery, dual Camera, fingerprint sensor, and is even MORE COMPACT than the P2 XL . It's a shame Google got rid of the jack on their phones but has no Acceptable "Valuable Things" to make up for it. Pfffff
They think we're stupid , so you then go and buy their dumb airpods and give them more marketing. I have a s7 edge, it has a headphone jack , I use my earbuds daily , but also have a pair of wireless headphones and are able to plug e'm in or use without, it's very convenient, I don't know why Apple started that but it was a dumb move!!!
Hovercraft I think it has more to do with pushing consumers to use Apple wireless earbuds. Trying to make more money off people who use Apple products. The last thing I want is for other companies such as Samsung to follow in their footsteps, at least not until wireless ear buds come way down in price.
Joe Halford : I'd rather a 10mm thick phone with huge battery & Jack than this thin garbage they keep spitting out. It has nothing to do with design. It all about a smaller phone uses less materials & less materials cost less to make then they falsely claim its revolutionary to justify their bullshit price gouging every year. Don't fall for it. It's all a con to make more money by making thinner phones they think they can justify selling us less phone for more $$. Soon we won't even have a USB/Lighning port to save a few more cents per phone.
next year or two years from now every phone will have no headphone jack just like no more removable batteries. wireless charging will eventually actually become wireless charging. Samsun are making foldable screens fro their new phones next year. we are advancing everyone is compelling about a headphone jack when they are going to disappear, I guess y'all aren't going to get new phones
Personally, I think too many people are making a big deal about the design. I'm a more practical guy, so here are some things I care about 1. Patricio Pereira Yeah but I like to use my phone with a case. I'd rather not have a bezel so thin cases can't fit over my phone without covering parts of the screen

kootahaitoo or make the phone slightly thicker. Thinner phones break easier so just make phones the thickness of the iphone 5. It’s thin but not too thin
Right? I mean if you need sound quality just connect a proper set of headphones or external speaker, because every cellphone speaker sounds like sh-t no matter if there's stereo sound, they still sound like sh-t.
I don't get the love for stereo speakers since your phone is mostly used when you're mobile and on the go. This means your the douche not using his IEMs in public. At home I can link my phone to my Bluetooth speaker which sounds way better than these stereo speakers.
I think it’s amazing that Marques is following his passion in technology and I was just sitting here and saw his name on the google pixel 2 commercial with a quote and his name. That’s incredible! Keep doing what you’re doing man we’re all proud of you!
I clearly didn’t like how Google made fun of Apple last year for ditching the headphone jack and now they themselves did it? This event also they took a few digs at Apple. You don’t see Samsung doing that in their events? It’s just your inner insecurities Google! Die Hard Apple fan but not hesitant to admit Galaxy S8 and Note 8 are the best phones of 2017!
That's what really bothered me. It was like Samsung's marketing from the S5 to the S6. Flaunt their competition for lacking in something (water resistance in this case), and then end up getting rid of it themselves. I'm also an Apple fan, but have no issue in saying that the Note8 is (personally) the most beautiful phone of 2017. Heck, even the Note7 was my favorite phone of 2016 minus its one flaw. Really disappointed in Google on this one.
Everybody does that. Say things and do the opposite the next time around. Remember Steve Jobs when he said that no one's gonna buy big phones? Look at iPhones right now. They all have inner insecurities.
Lol samsung did it too. Mocking iphone like how kids do. Afterall, iphone is still the standard everyone will compare to. I would agree the design on samsung s8/note 8 is slightly better than the iphone X only bcoz they decided to leave the top notch, but as a best phone of 2017 thats still up to debate. Even iphone 8+ is a beast in terms of performance (set aside that old design.)
Hello mkbhd I have the pixel XL and it's the first edition. I'm a very hard core fan when it comes to your reviews.this year or 2018 I will get the pixel 2.your right as a daily driver phone it's second to none for me.thanks again.
I dont get it. Why is everyone for bezel-les phones? Especially the side bezels are really usefull to hold your phone without touching the display by accident
Giorat23 no one needs a headphone jack. Use my iPhone 7 Plus for a year now and I don’t miss it. But fuck google for giving Apple shit then doing the same.
Just a couple things are keeping this from being the best phone of 2017: -No headphone jack -Larger bezels(I'm ok with the pixel xl because it has the front facing speakers) -No SD card
exactly its awful sure i get that there needs to be room for front facing speaker but why does it have side bezels its so bad its like seeing crapware in your browser it burns your eyes
Love your vids, man. I used to use your reviews for sales. My store only had Samsung and apple for live displays so it was great to have something to gauge the devices
Here in Florida during the hurricanes you could listen to over the air FM RADIOS that were broadcasting TV updates during the hurricanes using that now inconvenience 3 mm jack earphone and the wires act as an antenna, you can't do that with Blue Tooth, that jack and a FM Radio built in in your phone can be a life saver, literally!!
Vesra Valash nothin wrong with that, you can't see any noticeable differences between the 8 plus and note 8 1440p display unless you stare closely and hard enough. it really doesn't matter, it's just good for VR
Do companies not realize that bluetooth headphones are just not good enough yet to ditch the headphone jack? You have to charge them forever, the sound quality is not as good as in the wired ones and they're more expensive. The headphone jack might be old technology, but it's still the most perfect solution, they're ditching it before they even have a better alternative.
They make the real $$$$ by selling you headphones. It won't be long before they have propriatory headphones that you have to buy each time you buy a new phone.
Realistically, the majority of people are not walking around with flat response studio headphones to listen to music on their phone. The quality of sound between wired and wireless is not that different anymore. The thing is, just most bluetooth headphones are shit because the drivers and design are cheap shit. Most people are walking around with IEMs. Which inherently don't produce the same level of quality as muffed open or closed back headphones would. I don't think the removal of the headphone jack is that big of a deal, you're not getting a significant drop in quality, as the quality you're listening to isn't great to begin with as the built in amp drives in the phone already suck ass as well. Third party companies already sell lightning splitters for Apple products. Lightning -> 1/8" out and power for charging. So it's not like there isn't ways around it if you ABSOLUTELY need an 1/8th jack.
Lmao no My Skull Candy Crusher are Bluetooth and the speakers on them are amazing asf They have amazing Bass & they have 40 HOURS of battery life They charge fast asf too so
I never had a dealbreaker until this "No headphone jack " trend started. I like to listen to music while my phone charges because it helps with my anxiety at night. #3.5mmOrGFTO
DUFO Films but there is no reason to leave it out. And it’s obnoxious to the consumers. The majority of people would prefer to have the headphone jack right now. Bluetooth is unreliable and expensive. It’s also a hassle to charge.
I don’t understand this sudden animosity for any phone that isn’t completely bezel-less. I’d rather have a small bezel with stereo front facing speakers than an all screen phone that most apps are not optimized for.
It seems like we are in the minority here which is funny considering a year ago and phone without bezels was just a dream. But now it seems any phone with even a minimal bezel is ridiculed even if the bezel serves a purpose.
i'm sorry but the pixel 2 looks terrible, phones from 2014 looked the same.. they could have done a better job with the bezels and still got a stereo front facing in it.. look how super thin the speaker is on the essential.. i am not going to buy a phone that looks like its been made in 2014(pixel 2) or 2016( XL 2)
Jérôme B Yep, same with the iPhone X -- nearly bezel-less design, yet it still manages a stereo speaker design (granted only one is technically front-facing, I believe, like IP 7 & 8). I'm an Android guy now but...just sayin'. Android OEMs were known for this kind of innovation, now it seems they're going backward in some areas...
Great video... love how you've stated the prose and cons in details even though it is a short video, i just hope to see more camera samples since it is the main feature of the phone.
Its pretty funny that they made fun of apple a year ago because they removed the headphone jack and now they removed it themselves(sorry for bad English)
UNO in the introducing pixel video they said “this is new, this is new etc etc and then went “headphone jack thankfully not new” and this was followed by a guy going “ahem”
it does get annoying when apple will remove something and everyone goes mental, but then when it starts being removed on other devices (and even by companies who made a stance to keep it), people are just like "oh yeh, no headphone jack. Lol guess i'll have to go wireless".
When you tap that search bar it just takes you to the google search page, so it's really nothing more than a long button. We can already put a shortcut to the google app in the apps dock and have the exact same function without it wasting all that space.
Hardware is whatever, and I'm glad they listened and added dual speakers. But the software on this thing is way ahead of everything else on the market. That's what sold me, and I'm finally excited for smartphones again.
Andrew, really? fuck off, the headphone jakcks are perfect, no *real* diference whit digital to digital output and i dont wnat to fucking CHARGE my headphones too, this is not "future" this is bullshit. i bet you cant see the diference in audio quality from a type c headphone and a 3.5mm one...
It's all there to fit in your hand comfortably. Even with the bezels, the phone is pretty tiny, perfect for one handed use. If they removed the bezels, then the phone would have become way too small
Wanted this phone for stock android, but $849 is too much. S8 is a couple hundred cheaper now, has a headphone jack, better design, bezel less display, and wireless charging. Squeeze feature is stupid, saying OK Google is easy enough, dual speakers are the only advantage I like.
Mobile Apps 2017 im saying this from a m8. i'd love a pixel but dont want to leave the front speakers behind. its a feature more of these tier 1 flagships should have wouldn't you agree
Funny when you said 'ok Google' in the video, my phone went to the assistant. Maybe I should experiment with this to get people subscribed to my channel! Nice video.
they'll still work on siri but I don't think it'll ever be as good as google assistant. and now you can download google assistant on ios app store which is great
Fulckkckc / it's more a practical approach, not everyone cares about brrzels, some might even like them to have something to grip on. Also with the smaller display size, the phone is not too big either. Look at the iPhones, having large brrzels and are very very successful. Less brrzels does not automatically mean better user experience
My exact thoughts. Even the original pixel looks much better with basically the same screen to body ratio, I don't know how they managed to fuck up the front design so much. It's a shame because even if I got big hands, I really like the feel of a compact phone so I probably won't be buying either of the two
The wider size bezels make TOTAL sense on this - got the Samsung S8 and from a UX standpoint the wraparound tight side bezel sucks - so many things become super tough to interact with there - video player scrubbers for example, super painful. Wish I'd waited on Pixel2!
I mean...the wrap around screens on the Galaxies are neat, but how usable is that screen space? I also had an AWFUL time with accidental touches on the edges of my s8.
Not as long as Samsung keeps adding extra bloat to their devices, duplicating Google services. It does nothing but increase the wait time for any bloody updates. To be honest, I'd prefer smaller bezels too, but there is a LOT that I am willing to accept for a pure Android experience without any extra garbage on top.
Samsungs bixby, messages, call log UI are annoying as hell. I'm surprise no one talks about that. You're in the recent calls, you want to click on a contact to call them back but when you click it opens up another option for you to call or text. I just want to "CALL" someone back from the recent call history list and it's giving me options whether i want to text or call. Horrible design. And yes, I know you can swipe to the right to make a call, but who the hell wants to swipe when a tap is faster. That's why I could never go back to samsung.
U know how phones have stages of exterior design and later on the stages they improve?, well, google didnt go past the first 1. This shit looks like a mock up of itself smh. How the fuck did they manage to make the screen bigger but decide to keep a considerable amount of bezels not only on top or bottom, but on the sides. It genuinely looks like a cheap Chinese phone imitating a v30 for like 60$. LG fucked over google xl design and kept the better one for their v30, smart LG.
I see a lot of hypocrisy with all the reviewers. First of all the design is seriously bad. The squeeze although mentioned is not new but is not customisable and nobody complained. The photo search, yes was done on Google Goggles but recently brought back to life by Bixby, no mention of it. No headphone jack, pretty much everyone trolled Apple on it and now no complaints at the same level. Guess because Google did it and they always do it right, right? Now no wireless charging, actually it wasn't a big issue but then with no headphone jack, you won't be able to use and charge at all. Oh yes, we forgot about the wireless buds they are also releasing. And the price tag? No comments. I'm sorry this is probably the biggest let downs of the year. Guess I just had higher expectations and feel let down
People are definitely complaining about no headphone jack, maybe not the reviewers but people care. Also, people are becoming used to it as more and more phones are starting to do it
Fawad Bilgrami apple is the company to hate for no reason whatsoever..every android user (me-S8+) should be kissing their ass for wireless charging cuz now it'll be everywhere but yeah...Soooooo much hate for iPhones not having a headphone jack but he barely mentions it on this phone.....
Fuck all these companies taking away the headphone jack. Unless they add another port to use besides the charging port I won't be buying any of these phones.
I use my phone a lot, so using a powerbank is a must for me and I always end up charging the phone and listening to something at the same time... Damn it Apple, a step in the wrong damn direction and almost everyone is else is following...
Raja Kumar because having the cables is annoying compared to true wireless, like the airpods (google’s Bluetooth headphones don’t quite meet that standard jet...) just give Bluetooth a try and you’ll know what i mean
Davis Views if you dont care about sound quality - ofcourse you can use it. Thought my budget EX450 does sound better than almost any small bt headphones for any price.
Killacamfoo O.G. Yeah, google has just released its own specialised headphones. Before you'll know it, they'll narrow the pen further and include propriotary technology so that only their headphones work.
Samsung won't! Do you know anything about SAR Value related to phone radiation? Well Samsung has historically been the only smartphone company to try and reduce its device radiations! Every year, among all flagship smartphones, Samsung has the least US and EU SAR Values. LG has pretty low too. And it doesn't affect cellular connectivity at all. Infact the signal strength improves with that advanced technology. Apple is the worst in this department. Small children are getting nervous issues by using IPhones! You actually do need to have some ethical values and need to value customer satisfaction and safety over anything else to create a fan army. Samsung does! And new regulations mean every company measures the radiations in almost exactly the same way. So, there's no cheating there.
I haven't used the headphone jack since I bought the Pixel. So, I don't see the point of having one. You can buy wireless headphones at affordable prices and your car has bluetooth, just think about it.
2016: we’re not like Apple, we still have the headphone jack
2017: Aaaand we removed it
Stefano Salvati yeah but now you have AI based wireless headphones
v. parmar why not have both?
Stefano Salvati the smart move
Except in Pixel it won't affect much since 15 mins of charge will give you 7 hrs of battery.
So you won't really need to use charger and headphones simultaneously.
It's not about that. It's about the extra 45$ DONGLE you have to BUY.
That's crazy. A couple years ago we would have praised this phone for having an almost full front display. Now just by seeing a few, if any bezel is a hair smaller, it's worse.
Dallasmed65 I don't mind the bezels on the XL, but wow why didn't they go 18:9 on the smaller one. So much wasted space.
You've said it right, a couple years ago it would've been praised because there wasn't any other phone with better bezel-less design back then. This isn't the case now.
Dallasmed65 PLAY MINECRAFT
Dallasmed65 When phones get that good the only way to measure them is by what's wrong with them. I think Marques mentioned this in his video about the Perfect Smartphone.
Nexus 6 had smaller bezels than this
Everyone will miss you
*Jack*
Reiq Qu :'(
I will always love you Jack ...
They took the jackoff.....
Jack has to come back, we need you Jack
Jack now I need to tape you to my adapter... Sorry Jack :(
Why is dropping the headphone jack becoming a mainstream thing!?! Most people are still using wired headphones. I just don't get it.

same thing with someone want a great design with glass back cover or metal..
but end up put it with cover made by plastic or rubber..
Joe Halford People actually want thinner phones?
Thick phone means thicker case. That's y
Last year Google made fun of Apple and put 'Headphone Jack' as one of the Pixel's features. This year, they've removed it themselves, smh.
Yeah, that really bit them in the ass. Just keep the damn thing and make everyone happy.
Yup, exactly the way Apple joked about who'd use a pen with a Phone (Samsung Note series) and then went ahead and released an iPen later.
Ratnakar, Apple pen is for drawing on the iPad pro. it's not for your phone.
Sigh, this is so fucking pathetic
Ratnakar Soren I didn’t know the iPen is compatible with an iPhone 🤔? Or is this the Samsung defense force on suicide watch again?
What in the world Google we knew it was a rumor but you actually got rid of the headphone jack
It's so stupid
Cords are annoying as hell.
Ethan Church it's nice to have that option and u don't have to change your head phones

This guy is probably the gold standard of reviews. Amazing job!
Personally, I think too many people are making a big deal about the design. I'm a more practical guy, so here are some things I care about
1. Stereo speakers, I will use these daily, thin bezels be damned
2. The placement of the fingerprint sensor isn't stupid
3. Stock android, which isn't unusably bloated
4. AI like crazy and Google now improvements, seems like they're focusing on user experience not a spec sheet circle jerk
Since when did bezels become the bastard at a family reunion? The Samsung Edge drove me crazy touching stuff I didn't mean to touch.
It's been fixed, it doesn't happen anymore.
Patricio Pereira Yeah but I like to use my phone with a case. I'd rather not have a bezel so thin cases can't fit over my phone without covering parts of the screen
I know what your saying but when I look at those side bezels on the Pixel 2 it does look off.
Tom Ripley its 2017 bezel is the bastard now.

Launched at $920 & $1080 here in India. Amazing pricing.
R.I.P.
Alex O haha... then iPhone X at $1350 should be made of some ultra rare titanium + white gold or something
iPhone X IS $1400 IN INDIA
why even launch pixel in india? sold only few thousands last year! fuckers only think iphone has class. bullshit.
Because they are made in India mostly. All they need to do is throw it a few metres and youve got it
I laughed far too hard when Marque said "this pale blue colour is literally called kind of blue" "definitely the more accurate product colour names in awhile"
HAHAH SPACE GRAY!
I wonder if it is a reference to Miles Davis - Kind of Blue
and even the presenter of the pixel 2 also said who needs 2 camera if only one camera can do the things of both

Add 1 more to your list. BT interferes with Wifi connectivity so watching youtube and streaming BT at the same time is nearly impossible.
Stereo front facing speakers is probably the most underrated thing ever.

Johnny Chavarria Yes, and the HTC M7, M8 and M9.

Pixel 2 XL.. a superb update from the Pixel XL.. but then I saw the lack of a headphone jack. Made me realise how perfect the V30 is..

Samsung and Apple are "friendenemies". Every iPhone X that Apple sells, Samsung benefits as they manufacture their OLED screens.

Some cool features, but I'm going to stick with my 6P for a few more years, still works great.

Nah my battery is still basically fine, one of my friends did have to replace his though, so I could just do that if it becomes a problem.
Jarrod'sTech like iPhone 6+ ? You know by next year it's gonna be too slow to use, right? Just saying, watch out, 5s is barely usable now.
Jarrod'sTech what about s7 can I replace the battery on a service ?
was honestly waiting for this video today, "we knew this was coming..."
I've been binge watching pixel two videos today
Christian Villarreal same here
Hello mkbhd I have the pixel XL and it's the first edition.
Nikolai Schauer put a case on it
Joshowa So you'd rather have a cheap piece of plastic to hold onto as your bezel?
Joseph Rego well if you're paying that much for a phone you'd be stupid not to put a case on it
Joshowa exactly. So, why is everyone SO obsessed with design and bezels?
Joseph Rego because it looks ugly having huge bezels
BEST camera Ever : Great 😍
But the design of the google pixel is not so good.
Front Portrait Mode 👌👌
NO Headphone Jack 😐
DKHD isn’t the best camera, new iPhones ones are the best and more advanced
Giorat23 Don't you think this is the best phone scores 98 in DXOMark
Iphone 8 score 92
Iphone 8 plus 94
Giorat23 no one needs a headphone jack. Use my iPhone 7 Plus for a year now and I don’t miss it. But fuck google for giving Apple shit then doing the same.
Angel Hernandez They replaced it for money, Google did not.
Giorat23 lol nope
When original android quits headphone jack....
Chimpaji classic👌
And you realise that that's the same company which dissed Apple for removing the headphone jack just a year ago. SHAAAAMEEEE!
I will stay with my note 8 and my iPhone 7 for work thanks
Jesus christ deal with it we are becoming wireless no more headphone jacks
Matt Garcya meh, I don't think that convenient. Charging is main the reason.
Holy crap, this front facing snap you made is amazing!
Just a couple things are keeping this from being the best phone of 2017:
-No headphone jack
-Larger bezels(I'm ok with the pixel xl because it has the front facing speakers)
-No SD card
My biggest issue with the XL's bezels is that they're not symmetrical 😡
what did you expect from a search engine company that cares only about your information
Next year when you’re on the design team you can bring that up at the retreat.
Jeremy Campbell OH I MOST CERTAINLY WILL
Having OLED is great, very cool.
Sadly, no headphone jack is a deal-breaker for me at the moment.
I dont get it... Samsung can fit a fucking stylus in their phone...
Best explanation about what's weird about the screen setup. Congrats. That's exactly what I saw and couldn't explain.
The lack of headphone jack is a deal breaker
Mohammed Ali
By next year all phones will be a deal breaker for you.
Squeeze feature could be the reason for the largish bezels.
I was thinking about switching from my G5 to this but I think I'll wait another year
UnPhayzable I was going To get till I heard no headphone jack...
LG V30 is a good choice as well.
UnPhayzable you still broke? Same here 😂
How?! I have a G5 and I hate this phone so much.. The problems that I have with this is craziness
What kind of issues? I´ve the G6 and no problems here.
Always like your videos. Always find some useful information and you never come across biased. Good honest reviews subscribed finally too 👍
The worst thing about it is the top bezel being bigger than the bottom one. The eye can stand the bottom bezel to be bigger, but not the top one.
erick r Valid point!
exactly its awful sure i get that there needs to be room for front facing speaker but why does it have side bezels its so bad its like seeing crapware in your browser it burns your eyes
An OCD nightmare. Not to mention the XL flips the cameras from the regular P2.
The smaller Pixel now looks like the Nexus 6P from two years ago, and yet it's smaller
greentealatte that's exactly what I was thinking, and I am currently holding a 6p.
I think it looks more like the 5x than it does the 6p.
true, only that the screen is 5.0 not 5.7 inches
Google Pixel 1 ad - google made of fun of apple saying that pixel one had headphone jack while iPhone didnt
Google Pixel 2 - No headphone jack
Bruno Silva xD
😂
Bruno Silva freal
Bruno Silva That's the definition of a hypocrite lol
I'm getting a big "Apple" feel from Google now, imitating them is not a good idea at all smh
Love your vids, man. I used to use your reviews for sales. My store only had Samsung and apple for live displays so it was great to have something to gauge the devices
There will be a time in future that we can say "kids, once the lived a headphone jack..."
Here in Florida during the hurricanes you could listen to over the air FM RADIOS that were broadcasting TV updates during the hurricanes using that now inconvenience 3 mm jack earphone and the wires act as an antenna, you can't do that with Blue Tooth, that jack and a FM Radio built in in your phone can be a life saver, literally!!
bluetooth headsets are awful and inconvenient with always needing to be charged. Then you have to buy a 3mm dongle anyways. So whats the point.
garth james *laugh with AirPods*
Or you could point them to a Samsung phone.. the headphone jack lives!!!
Still live in oneplus 5!!
To be honest, I love android but google pixel is too overpriced in my opinion
Google mocks Apple for not having a headphone jack, then
they go and remove it themselves...
Keep up the great work, watched u since u first made windows xp on android phone!!!
I'm not sold until I've watched 10 impressions videos. And then realise I can't afford it.
The only things the Pixels have going for them over the s8 are front facing speakers and stock android.
1080p Display in 2017.
Ya like jazz well, maybe that camera too. I think the design of it is it's worst feature
And the fingerprint sensor placement imo
Vesra Valash nothin wrong with that, you can't see any noticeable differences between the 8 plus and note 8 1440p display unless you stare closely and hard enough. it really doesn't matter, it's just good for VR
and dat camera damn
When you said ok google, my Google Assistant opened up.
Phillip Henderson k
lol
Great job as always, Marques.
Evelina999 i kno its not the right time probably 2019 or 2020
They make the real $$$$ by selling you headphones.
The future is external DACs, so you have a choice about the sound
Lmao no
My Skull Candy Crusher are Bluetooth and the speakers on them are amazing asf
They have amazing Bass & they have 40 HOURS of battery life
They charge fast asf too so
Lack of headphone jack is a deal breaker. Super disappointing
Agreed
I never had a dealbreaker until this "No headphone jack " trend started. I like to listen to music while my phone charges because it helps with my anxiety at night. #3.5mmOrGFTO
Not to mention anyone who wants a Flagship Stock Android phone with consistent software updates is....pretty much fucked.
Agreed
DUFO Films but there is no reason to leave it out. And it’s obnoxious to the consumers. The majority of people would prefer to have the headphone jack right now. Bluetooth is unreliable and expensive. It’s also a hassle to charge.
I don’t understand this sudden animosity for any phone that isn’t completely bezel-less. I’d rather have a small bezel with stereo front facing speakers than an all screen phone that most apps are not optimized for.
sinister184 that’s totally true front facing speakers are Best.
Plus, not having bezels makes it harder to hold, especially without a case. Tried the S8+. Feels nice, doesn't grip or hold as well though.
Bro u gonna be late to spin class
figured he was a spinner..
Its pretty funny that they made fun of apple a year ago because they removed the headphone jack and now they removed it themselves(sorry for bad English)
Urho Ahtola
I agree
Urho Ahtola they didn't make fun of it Samsung did I believe
Urho Ahtola and they removed it the same reason apple removed theirs to sell the wireless headphones they just made
UNO in the introducing pixel video they said “this is new, this is new etc etc and then went “headphone jack thankfully not new” and this was followed by a guy going “ahem”
it does get annoying when apple will remove something and everyone goes mental, but then when it starts being removed on other devices (and even by companies who made a stance to keep it), people are just like "oh yeh, no headphone jack. Lol guess i'll have to go wireless".
When you tap that search bar it just takes you to the google search page, so it's really nothing more than a long button. We can already put a shortcut to the google app in the apps dock and have the exact same function without it wasting all that space.
Another solid review. Looks like a pretty cool phone, I think the Squeeze feature is very clever.
Damn definitely happy I got me an s8
Tom van Loon me too
Hardware is whatever, and I'm glad they listened and added dual speakers. But the software on this thing is way ahead of everything else on the market. That's what sold me, and I'm finally excited for smartphones again.
MKBHD barely showing the smaller Pixel 2 to save Google's face...
The Pixel 2 XL is the one he wants more. Of course that's the one he shows the most.
smaller pixel 2 looks better than the rounded bezel on the XL imho
I love your review. Your voice is wow. Thanks a lot
I love everything about the phone but i dont like the NO HEADPHONE JACK.
P.S Nice video
Andrew, really? fuck off, the headphone jakcks are perfect, no *real* diference whit digital to digital output and i dont wnat to fucking CHARGE my headphones too, this is not "future" this is bullshit. i bet you cant see the diference in audio quality from a type c headphone and a 3.5mm one...
ahahahaha ok "kid" whatever.
back looks like double door fridge :D
Loknath Sarkar your rite 😂😂😂
😂
😂😂😂😂😂
Now I can't unseen it 😲
Lmao
No headphone jack ?!?!?!!? What were they thinking !!!!
Thanks. I always like watching your reviews
The smaller Pixel 2 has bigger bezels than IPhone 8 WTF!!
yea it looks horrible
It's all there to fit in your hand comfortably. Even with the bezels, the phone is pretty tiny, perfect for one handed use. If they removed the bezels, then the phone would have become way too small
It also has front facing stereo speakers....
Do we know for a fact that these bezels are bigger than those on the iPhone 8?
or they could have made the scene bigger, and remove the bezels like the did on the xl
When he Said "okay Google" MY GOOGLE LAUNCHED 😂
I know I'm not the only one !
Fire Loco Me too, I was watching in my living room 😅
mine didn't launch, cause I don't use it and it's disabled :-)
Same here lol
Wanted this phone for stock android, but $849 is too much. S8 is a couple hundred cheaper now, has a headphone jack, better design, bezel less display, and wireless charging. Squeeze feature is stupid, saying OK Google is easy enough, dual speakers are the only advantage I like.
ThatKiDwiththeDrums Try essential
Aman Sharma Hell no
there is literally no reason to buy an essential phone over an S8. That's a stupid purchase lol.
Essential has no jack and 32 bit audio like s8 so no thanks
I guess but stock android but honestly s8 is prob the best phone for users right now, or u cud wait for the next galaxy, expected around jan
Can't wait for the full review. Probably gonna get the xl but waiting until I get the go ahead from the tech guru!
The smaller pixel looks like it should not have been made.
KDGJ nah man im gonna get tht only. smaller screen front facing speakers great battery and an awesome camera. And the price is reasonable aswell
it looks like iphone 4 :D wtf
KDGJ i agree, looks like it was made early 2000s
im a huge pixel fan and I agree ALL BEZELS NEEED TO DIE
Looks like they made the bezels bigger than the original Pixel. Am I correct?
What we want
Build quality:- Samsung
UI & camera :- pixel
Performance :- apple(A11 bionic)
Rajput Abhijeet true that! LG got really close this year...
Build quality: Nokia*
Ce Tee haha
Rajput Abhijeet just flash a custom rom on the note 8 and you shit down the throats of the enemies. Or just get OnePlus 5
design : samsung
front facing speakers yesssss!
gene Rake a HTC one m7 is like 20 dollars and has the best Speakers on a phone Ever
Nice video.
I think Apple just decided to give up on Siri. It’s so far behind Google Assistant at this point. I guess they just figure...why bother?
I dont think so if they did there would be no home pod
they'll still work on siri but I don't think it'll ever be as good as google assistant. and now you can download google assistant on ios app store which is great
FOR GOD SAKE STOP REMOVING THE HEADPHONE JACK ON PHONES!
That's what she said.
darthmon26 exactly👍🏾💯
darthmon26 lol cryyyy
Nobody removed it, they just didn't add it. 😁
For god sakes, stop removing cassette players from cars!
The fuck is that design on the normal sized pixel. Are we in 2012?
Fulckkckc / have you seen the bezels on the iPhone 8?
Fulckkckc / it's more a practical approach, not everyone cares about brrzels, some might even like them to have something to grip on. Also with the smaller display size, the phone is not too big either. Look at the iPhones, having large brrzels and are very very successful. Less brrzels does not automatically mean better user experience
My exact thoughts. Even the original pixel looks much better with basically the same screen to body ratio, I don't know how they managed to fuck up the front design so much. It's a shame because even if I got big hands, I really like the feel of a compact phone so I probably won't be buying either of the two
Not even in 2012 the bezels were that bad..
Fulckkckc / the design is a huge downgrade from the first pixel
The wider size bezels make TOTAL sense on this - got the Samsung S8 and from a UX standpoint the wraparound tight side bezel sucks - so many things become super tough to interact with there - video player scrubbers for example, super painful. Wish I'd waited on Pixel2!
No headhpone jack and those terrible bezels. I feel like the S8 and S8+ will be the best option for quite a while.
Kinzoku Shirogane the s9 will come with samsung new 2018 wireless earphones
This phone literally would have been perfect if they had fixed the front screen design and added a headphone jack...
Tristan Hamilton seriously
U know how phones have stages of exterior design and later on the stages they improve?, well, google didnt go past the first 1. This shit looks like a mock up of itself smh. How the fuck did they manage to make the screen bigger but decide to keep a considerable amount of bezels not only on top or bottom, but on the sides. It genuinely looks like a cheap Chinese phone imitating a v30 for like 60$. LG fucked over google xl design and kept the better one for their v30, smart LG.
TheDEELAW google designs everything lg just manufactures it
Thanks for the thoughts, looking forward to the 2 XL.
Guess I just had higher expectations and feel let down
Fawad Bilgrami have a reply good sir
It's a first look / hands on at Google showcase, not a review. I bet they will slaughter this point-by-point in the proper review.
Did you watch the video? He literally complained that he wished that squeeze was re-mappable
You mean Pixel 2 XL impressions, right?
LOLLIPOP but they said that both phones would have the same features😊
But the design makes me miss my sleep :D (sryforbadenglish)
Ambar Marshall nope, pixel xl has 1440p screen
Can people stop whinging about bezels? They're small enough! They make basically no difference to the phone!
FaceySmile not all businesses are the same size and it does make a difference, obviously.....
Nice job that help me a lot to switch from iPhone to pixel 2 👍
This thing is $1,300 CAD including tax in Canada. No thank you.
Manvir Singh how much is that in real money ?
Mohammed Marwan Al-Atassi whut.. CAD isn’t real money?
Manvir Singh Go get you the phone x then. See how much that one cost.
same price in india bro
Mohammed Marwan Al-Atassi Just around 885 EUR ;)
Google dissed Apple for not having the headphone jack.
Firhan Nair Lol and look at them now
I honestly like the sunken in screen
But the headphone jack disappearing, what in the sweet fuck
Awesome review, that i have ever seen!! Keep moving
Fuck all these companies taking away the headphone jack. Unless they add another port to use besides the charging port I won't be buying any of these phones.
Roz Sadly, the entire market is going in that direction now.
I use my phone a lot, so using a powerbank is a must for me and I always end up charging the phone and listening to something at the same time... Damn it Apple, a step in the wrong damn direction and almost everyone is else is following...
oneplus won't take it away
Daeveren Doubt that the V series from LG will go that route. It's an audiophiles go to.
Roz looks like someone will be stuck on old tech in the foreseeable future 😂
the bezels are horrendous
2016 google “we have a headphone jack, the don’t “
2016 apple “no comment”
2017 google “ pixel 2 no headphone jack”
2017 apple “I told you so”
Classy Prateek Are you referring to The iPhone X or the iPhone 8?
Don he's referring to either. Does it matter?
Classy Prateek also their 3,5mm dongle cost 20$ if you want a new one while apples is just 9$
Marcus Wolf their phone is $999
That goes back iphone 7....
As always, killer video sir!
Why do I feel like the LG V30 is better than the Pixel 2 XL in almost every way?
because it is
David S. Because you’re right
Not with their ugly ui
David S. Cause its better lol
Now all we need is LG to improve their ui and add a portrait mode.
I don't know why everyone is removing 3.5mm headphone jack ?🤔🤔🤔🤔
Raja Kumar by"Everyone" you mean Apple and Google?
Raja Kumar because having the cables is annoying compared to true wireless, like the airpods (google’s Bluetooth headphones don’t quite meet that standard jet...) just give Bluetooth a try and you’ll know what i mean
Davis Views I hate Bluetooth maybe because it hates me.
Davis Views if you dont care about sound quality - ofcourse you can use it. Thought my budget EX450 does sound better than almost any small bt headphones for any price.
Raja Kumar everyone is removing it because Apple removed it.
Daaaamn!!! We need a headphone jack! Why dont these companies get it!!!
These companies want to sell you their expensive bluetooth headphones.
Killacamfoo O.G. Yeah, google has just released its own specialised headphones. Before you'll know it, they'll narrow the pen further and include propriotary technology so that only their headphones work.
excellent review and analysis, the best!
I hope Samsung sticks with the headphone jack for longer
Gili Briggs I think Samsung will stay with it, because they actually listen to their fans and they made good quality headphones that come in the box
Headphones jacks are dying and will be replaced with Bluetooth. That’s the way technology works.
What am I going to do with my audiophile headphone!?
So, there's no cheating there.
jimmyohdez Should we remove the charging port and only use wireless charging too?
Bruh y u posting a 1 am? I got school in 5 hours
Sorry, but you lost a customer with NO HEADPHONE JACK
Same. Fuck off, Google! Last year's pixel was better.
GTIspeeder no headphone jack is a step in the right direction
I haven't used the headphone jack since I bought the Pixel. So, I don't see the point of having one. You can buy wireless headphones at affordable prices and your car has bluetooth, just think about it.
I think about the $300 I spent on my noise cancelling headphones and how I can't use them, let alone while I'm charging the phone.
Interspect, Having less options is in no way a step in the right direction...
Can't wait for that dang Pixel 6! 💪🏼
