Google killed their pixel pass program after 22 months, 2 months before anyone could get their upgrade. I wouldn't trust them on their 7 year updates promise.
I've had the chance to get my hands on the 8 and 8 Pro as well, and I can't deny these things: - The blue looks really nice. - The phones feel super good in the hand. - They feel fast. - 7 years of software updates is a lot.
@@darknovemberwhy do you people hate everything when someone doesn't give enough updates it's bad when someone does than the hardware won't handle it shut up bro
Using my OnePlus 5 since over six years, last three of them without updates... 7 years of updates is actually insane. It means a lot for sustainability imo
I'm using the OnePlus 6t still, works great and even better than some of the mid level segment phones coming nowadays. I made the mistake of updating the phone which made it slow and the os was overall very shitty. I rolled back to the previous version. Still going strong. These phones were just built different.
I personally like the temperature sensor. Our phones are already our swiss army knives, they can be a compass, a ruler, a map, an instrument tuner, a notebook, a remote, a level, etc. I think it makes sense to add thermometer to the list I can see a future where a child doesnt feel well and a parent says "come here, let me read your temperature" and whips out a smartphone
I've always wondered why it wasn't already implemented in all our everyday technology. Even knowing the temperature of a room, just fo r the fun of it, would be really cool.
If it's gonna be 7 years of support, I think pixel is gonna make it's brand way more recognizable due to the fact that people are gonna use these over the years and it's still gonna be somehow relevant due to software updates
Great to see the camera app going back nearly a decade and returning to splitting photo and video like a number of phones used to do. As it should've stayed.
That 'best take' feature is something I figured more companies would have done longer ago. It seems like such an easy solution to fix with their computational photography.
@@GainomaxYeah, Windows Phone had that way back when and also the 'new' iPhone feature that let's you select your focus subject after you take the picture.
@@jevonsims900 Not true, SoC only provides 4-5 years of security updates on all flagship phones (besides Apple, because they make their own hardware). Now Google provides 7 years of security AND SOFTWARE updates, so you will get the next 7 new android versions (while on other android flagship phones it's limited to 4). This is insane
Pixel on it's way to become next BlackBerry or HTC. Software support for more than 5 years is pointless, unnecessary burden on techies. And the camera bar design is already looking outdated. You really have to be a middle aged person to think this is a practical thing.
@@PavanKumar-ft5hi Couldn't you say the same thing about 4 years? And 3 years? And 2 years? You didn't really make a point, just said an opinion and then insulted people who think otherwise.
Wow, as a long time apple user, this Pixel is tempting. 7 years support and awesome software. This reminds me of the good old days of smartphone evolution where each year gives us something completely new.
don't get fooled. if u want to use it for long term, it also has to have a decent chipset in addition to software support. but the TENSOR chipset on this thing is meh. 💢 WHAT I LIKE about this phone tho is the software. google makes top notch apps. just like apple. google is becoming the apple of android
Big Pixel fan here. We've been buying them exclusively since the 1st. Skipped a year here or a year there but all 3 of us have had nothing but Pixels since they launched. The 7 years of OS updates is interesting. Not a chance in this world we'll have a Pixel 8 in 2030 but its going to be interesting to see for sure!
These pixel devices looks so dope and the fact that now they are providing 7 years of major software update is the major push for more people to choose pixels devices over other phones.
Unless I'm mistaken they only guaranteed security updates for 7 years. Not necessarily major android updates. 7 years is some potentially massive leaps in what a phone can do with a cpu that's already 2 generations behind competitors.
Google only offered 7 Years cause Apple does a guaranteed 6-8 years OS updates. Google knows their customers won't keep their Pixel 8/8 Pro for 7 years.
With the way Pixel's camera bump is across the whole width of the phone and not just a square in the corner, this makes an awesome chance for phone case manufacturers to make a case that smoothens out the back, and then throw in a battery in the case itself, maybe upto 3000-4000mah battery. This could mean the Pixel having a battery for two days.
Google should just go balls to the wall and release a model a tier above the pro and make it huge with the back being flush with the camera bump to include a crazy size battery. Then call it something goofy like the Google Mega Pixel for $1200
@@artificialstyle998 I'm willing to bet no phone user would prefer a thick personal handheld device just so you can use it 2 days straight without plugging into the wall. I'd rather bring a powerbank if I'm gonna be outdoors for two days, would still have the lightness of a normal sized phone for 100% of the time.
I like Google more and more. Having 7yrs of support and their own integration with Chromebooks. I think they need to refine that partnership. Good luck to Samsung and Apple now I've found my phone home
Tbh it's absolutely scary with the Google editing feature on photos from not only editing pictures but to the extend of moving the subject opening eyes and what not. I know its nothing new but having it inbuilt is actually adding to our society's obsession to be perfect without flaws and that's whats giving me the chills Ty all for the likes and the engagement in the comments section
I guess. But it's just mashing different takes together of group photos, right? like it takes a whole subject from one picture to another. The real scary shit is if it lets you do it with different body parts of the same subject.
I know people are different but social media and trying to be perfect destroyed me mentally. Although it's cool and all slowly but surely tech gets too much.
There needs to be some cryptological watermark standard that sets a flag as being the original image as-captured. You're never going to stop people from messing with photos, but for photos where you absolutely need to know what the original image was, there should be a way of knowing that.
Thank you Marques! Always look forward to your phone/tech reviews since they are always clearly discussed. Looking forward to the updated Pixel reviews.
I guess by now we can tell Marquess really loves softwares. This is the most excited I have seen him talking about a product. Google Pixel did it again
The AI on Pixel 8 and 8 Pro is so insane, and a little scary. With all the power it has and how accessible it is, we won't know whether a photo is genuine or not in the very near future with this amount of altering. Impressive, yes, but also a little mind-blowing.
I just completed the event and came here. To be honest, Marques didnt talk about any feature properly. Missed out on Bard with Assistant and Local LLMs.
Love the phone and I couldn't get 5 minutes into the keynote, they're all just too long-winded - not picking on Google specifically, most keynotes just seem boring af and there's no reason they shouldn't be any longer than 10-20 minutes, unless they're doing a full teardown and spec test.
I'm upgrading from my Pixel 2 XL today. I've had it for 6 years and it's finally showing signs of slowing down. Getting 7 years out of the Pixel 8 Pro is gonna be wonderful 👍
I got a Pixel 7 earlier this year, and I love what they're doing to improve the Pixel lineup! I love how non-restrictive it is. So long as they don't remove all the "little" features and ways to customize it (including in the ways that most people don't need), I'm staying with Pixel. I wish dbrand had a ghost case for the non-pro pixels; I would actually get one.
You can't even crop a photo in the Google gallery. I find my P7p far more restrictive than the Note 10+ I came from. Basic, simple shit, can't do it. Why can't I sort my gallery by recent? Anyways.
These phones look so good. Would be awesome to see a camera comparison between the Google 8/8 pro, iPhone 15/15 pro max and Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra in the future
For the review: 1. Thermals/throttling after long continuous regular/camera use 2. Battery life 3. Whether it will be able to survive roughly 7 Years ;) 4.Comparison with competition(8 Gen 2) 5. This might be hard but if possible try to get idea about Google's plan for keeping parts available for these phones especially as they are providing such long software support. Thanks, tuned to see your review @mkbhd
I like the pixel phones more and more each year. The 7year support sounds crazy compared to other brands. The price is alright as well, and the camera is always great (especially with the software enhancement). My next phone will probably be a pixel if they keep that up
Coming from a Pixel 6, I'd be interested to know if any improvements have been made to the fingerprint sensor. This element of the Pixel is what keeps me going back to my S22.
Can't speak about the 8/8 Pro ... but my 7 Pro fingerprint sensor works extremely well. 9.9/10 times it unlocks without a hiccup. When it doesn't unlock it's generally because my finger was wet, or I was way off on the placement of my finger. So I imagine the 8/8Pro will be as good or better.
I had a 6, and now have a 7 (did a trade in for a great deal last year) and the fingerprint sensor is noticeably better. Can't speak for the 8 but I imagine its fp reader will also be better than the 6
I'm surprised that no one has mentioned this. The sensor on my 7 Pro works quite well, as the sensor on my 6 Pro didn't. The face unlock is also handy -- much of the time you don't even need the fingerprint sensor (it does need good light work, and forget it if you're wearing a mask!)
I recently switched from a Pixel 3XL to a Samsung S23, and honestly, I miss the Pixel. It's not as crazy customisable, but it's exactly the quirkyness you mention that makes it such a fun phone to use. And there are some exclusive features that I miss as well. If you're looking for a new phone, I would definitely consider this one. But I'd buy it a few months after release, just to see if they have any hardware issues. That can be a bit hit or miss with this series.
I've been using a pro max for a year I've just pre ordered I miss all the features on the pixel and Google assistant is just so ahead of Siri it's laughable.
@@declanashmoreI've bought pretty much every pixel. The hardware issues either haven't hit me or haven't bothered me for the most part, but waiting a few months is still a great idea just to dodge the new Android version bugs.
I'm rocking the 7 Pro. Highly satisfied. For me the voice recognition and phone assistant features will make it very hard for me to switch. Definitely the "Smartest" smartphone around.
Changing people's faces and facial expressions seems really dystopian to me. I thought the point of family photos and photos with friends is to capture the moment, not to force it to look how you would have liked it to look like.

@@clickbaitpro yeah exactly!!! But nobody cares about it they're making money, I just wanna be able to use a modern smartphone without a headache or eye strain I've made this exact comment on so many videos but nobody has made a video on it or anything
I’d say the main camera upgrade plus the 120 Hz display upgrade makes the jump to $699 for the standard Pixel 8 very much worth it. Then there’s all the crazy software magic Google put in, I’d say it’s still a bargain.
Its great to see screens being brighter, but I would like it to go darker for night mode, this is so underated, but having a darker screen at night, especially for parents with children trying to sleep next to them is an awesome feature to have.
Love all the software features. People in my life staying away from Pixel points at its "fundamentals": can you take calls without signal dropping, battery...etc
The Temp sensor might seem gimmicky at first, but I could definitely see some interesting and useful applications for it if they keep improving and adding things to it in the coming months/years. Probably the first Pixel phone in quite a while that I'm really thinking of upgrading to. Dig the fact that screen is no longer rounded and has that cleaner flat design
@@anuragnair5 I probably should have worded that better. I meant that on the 7 Pro the screen is rounded on the sides kind of like the S23 Ultra to a certain degree. It looks nice, but I never found it really useful and makes the screen more prone to damage on the sides from an impact
Is it not weird to put the ability to check someone's forehead temp in everyone's hands? Like I don't know if this person is a zombie or not, thank God I happen to have a thermometer on my phone. Maybe the laser scanners we have been using since 2020 look too much like a gun so they changed it to a phone. *tightenstinfoilhat*
I think that re-doing a check of how well do google pixels work nowadays would be great. Pixel phones seem amazing but I feel like suffering from bugs at that pricetag is unacceptable and it'd be cool to see if it is still happening
The 7 years updates honestly sealed the deal for me. It was the only reason I was looking at an iphone and now I have zero reason to do so. I am glad they took away the 2nd gpu that was in the tensor and tensor 2. I believe this will help with keeping the device cooler. The real MVP will be the $499.00-$549.00 Pixel 8a but the 8 vs the 8 pro I feel now more than ever the 8 is the winner over the pro. Pro features and quality for hundreds less. Thanks again for great content my friend :)
@@alexnovak905 Of course. I have also wached the full apple event and it was more boring then expected. Nothing to look forward to. Not that much excitement like it was before with the 13 and 14 models.

In your full review I would love to see some comparisons to the older pixels particularly camera quality/processing. Just to see how far it's come. I've got a 6pro and love it so need convincing to even consider upgrading anytime soon. Thanks! ✌️
the thing about 'best take' is it used to be an auto feature in google photos. it would detect multiple same images of people and would completely take faces from other images and swap them. maybe it was a beta thing but it was insanely impressive. this was like 2014 era
Pretty common tactic for tech companies, especially Google. Use people's data for years to train their software, then once it's refined, put it behind a paywall.
Wow, the camera software on Google Pixel feature phones is truly impressive! The updates they receive constantly enhance their already amazing features. I love how Pixel phones support video phone calls and provide excellent video editing capabilities. The night mode is a game-changer, allowing me to capture stunning photos even in low light. The battery life is fantastic, and I'm always amazed at how well it performs. The Pixel phones have definitely set a new standard in smartphone photography. Can't wait to see what exciting updates the next year brings. Keep up the great work, Google!
7 years is amazing. Hoping that becomes more industry standard. Love seeing new features but love seeing feature refinement even more like with the screen calling. That shows they arent just giving up like google likes to do with their projects sometimes
My main concern about the pixel lineup is the battery life. I seriously hope they fix that issue in the tensor G3 A few months ago I gave my dad my pixel 5a and upgraded to the 7a (his 3a was falling apart) and I was rather disappointed in the battery life. It's not abysmal but the 5a would manage to only drain to 50% after at least 6 hours of constant video streaming. The 7a drains to 50% with relatively light usage.
@@theSpian1 I've turned off a bunch of those too btw. Specifically the hey Google and screen rate to 60 Hz. Of course, there is probably dozens of telemetry data that I cannot disable because Google being Google
yeah, I've had a pixel 6 since release and this has been my only real gripe with it, thermals & battery life, I had to factory reset mine a few months ago just so my battery would even last the entire day
5a was the last Snapdragon based Pixel device and in my opinion the best phone Google ever made. I was tempted to buy two of them so I'd have a replacement when my current 5a dies. The new Google silicon is not a mature tech with a decade of refinement like Snapdragon, you're basically paying to be a beta tester for Google.
I'm so excited to see how the Video performance is with or without video boost! One feature you didn't talk about specifically is night sight for video. I have had it so many times I just wanted to capture an important moment, but it was too dark and your video turns out to be a pix-elated mess and you can't see anything. Hopefully this solves that problem.
I would hope to see a battery life improvement mainly, with no other major concerns for now. Just got my Pixel 7 Pro this year so an upgrade is eons away, especially with the new price tags. Either way, it's looking good so far despite the minimal other upgrades. Not interested in the Pixel watch 2 especially if they're doing the whole Fitbit thing, and the display is too small for me personally. I'll happily stick with my 46mm Huawei Watch.
@@nccapone344 I got the p7p about 6 months ago and I haven't had any issues with the back glass, however, my screen has several scratches on it even though I take great care of it. I had to just get used to it, I never got a protector since it was riddled with scratches after the first week. Doesn't make much sense though since I kept it in it's own pocket.
Camera zoom is what I'm most interested in. Went to a concert with my buddy, and his galaxy ultra camera zoom was ridiculously clear and zoomed in way more than my Pixel 7.
This feels like a fantastic phone to get in a year, when you still have 6 years of software support but when you can buy refurbished phones for ~50-60% the MSRP
Actually this is a really good point. you could even get it in two years and still have more support than other devices, depending on how much hardware improves over that time, or should I say, doesn't improve.
holy shit, I just ordered the 8Pro, upgrading from the 6 Pro. The thermometer is suuuper handy for people like me who keep reptiles, I loose my thermometer to check the enclosure all the time so this is a great feature
I'd love to see the Pixel 8 series compared to the Pixel 6 series rather than last year's models. I think more people are going to be upgrading from the 6 than the 7, myself included (potentially).
Ughhh I'm so tempted to get it. 7 years of OS updates and all those new software features and updates look so good. Also, the flat screen is so much better than the curved one. Wonder if the battery got improved, too
@@Daniel-dj7fh Haha I usually don't update all that often, though. My first Pixel was Pixel 3 and then I upgraded to Pixel 6 Pro but only last year so my phone is only 1.5 years old and kinda too early for me to upgrade already

7 years of security and software updates is crazy! Reminds of the past times where companies used to care about their products and consumers and just delivers to them the best effort possible.
Except of course, we know that they don't. They may be able to promise long Updates, but given this hardware I suppose the phone will not last long enough to see its final update.
I'm not talking about recent times. I'm talking about industry before 1980s, if you read about it, you'll find that consumers were always getting the value of their products, then everything started to shift in the 90s and early 2000s.

Love and hate that I want to upgrade from the 7 to probably the 8 pro. Love the bump in the tensor g3, the added features, the better cameras, the temp sensor thing, and especially the 7 years of support. The pro also seems more justified over the regular 8 this generation
But the 8 pro is 300 dollars more expensive than the 8, wasn't expecting that, rumors were saying 899 but oh well google has to crack that 1000 dollars barrier like apple did.
Same, but I'm going to wait on reviews. The main reason I would upgrade hinge on faster charging and low light pics/vids. But if they let us turn off that automatic oversharpened image feature plaguing the 7 it's an instant upgrade for me

Man, you've got no idea how long I've been waiting for this video. And of course I'm really looking forward to the review. I got my Pixel 7 Pro based on your review from last year.
Great video. Honestly it's always fun to see the new software stuff with the Pixel. I definitely want to know how much these features improve things (ie. video boost, best take, etc). Are these features actually worth it between the 8/pro?
I'd say it depends on how often you're gonna use the new features or how often you take videos & pics. If you want more enhanced, editing, Ai features for both pics and vids, then yes, it's worth it.
I remember this camera feature where you can select different moments of faces in a blackberry phone from around 10 years ago I'm not saying it's as good as this probably is, but they had face recognition back then as well and used it for an awesome feature as I think
I love my pixel 7, especially for the price I paid for it. My biggest gripes with it have been the battery life isn't great, it can be fine if you optimize it by turning off the always on display and turning the refresh rate down to 60hz when you know it's going to be a heavy day without a charging break, in which case it'll easily make it through a heavy day. But if you don't do those things it'll be dead about 12 hours into a heavy use day. My other gripes are pretty minor, no audio jack, no micro sd, and the fast charging could be a little faster. I've had little to no issues with the fingerprint sensor, like many other people have mentioned. It works 8.5-9/10 which is good enough. My bigger criticism in that area would be the face unlock, it takes a good 5 seconds to unlock in perfect conditions, and if the conditions aren't perfect, good luck. Overall I'd gladly buy a pixel again, it is a little disappointing to see both phones go up in price quite a bit this year though. The pixel 7 was almost a flagship at a mid-range price, the new one is a flagship at a flagship price. 7 years of software support is next level though, hopefully every other company follows suit and we can all use phones for a couple more years.
HTC M8 treated me the best I had the the first apple phone it's a gimmick.. people don't know how to use technology or seniors Apple capitalized on that simple and weak
Most people use bt headphones nowadays and will not need a jack. Same for the sd card, it was a valid point when phones had little storage, but now with 512gb or 1tb phones widely available it's a non-issue for most.
Darn, the 8 Pro is the first new phone I'm actually considering buying since like the Galaxy S2 or something. The software features are crazy. And I need the telephoto for work so I'm really looking forward to the camera review.
Super stoked about the 7 years of updates. If Google keeps up to this promise, it can bring a shift in the android landscape where others will follow. 🤞
Can you imagine how attractive it is to a phone manufacturer to make a phone that won't be replaced for 7 years? They'll find ways to make you want to ditch it long before that, it's a perfected science
@@BoraHorzaGobuchul It's easy, just update the phone with heavier and heavier OS, so the phone cannot handle it and you buy a new one. That's what everybody is already doing and it's the reason I don't bother with updates at all anymore. I pre-ordered the Pixel 8 Pro (coming from a Pixel 6), and am super excited about all the same software features MB talked about. Watching Google's announcement on the 4th got my hyped, and the store allowed me to choose a Pixel Watch 2 or buds for free with the Pro pre-order, so I chose the watch. With trade-in of my Pixel 6 and the value of the free watch, it really seems like a crazy good deal to me.

I'm looking to upgrade from my S20 FE next year and I'm torn between the S24 and the pixel 8 pro. 7 years of software updates is huge, and I can absolutely say that may tip me over to the pixel.
Go to the s24 trust me. Nothing really compelling here. Ai stuff is great but how about their hardware? Where are the camera improvements other than editing? How well Is the tensor performing in multi tasking and gaming??
The Tensor g3 is performing worse than A14 bionic which was in Iphone 12 pro. Google knows it can't compete in raw performance so it goes this route, their hardware is quite behind. Go with the s24. I am an owner of Pixel 6pro
Go with the s24. The Pixel definitely has awesome software, and if they finally get the performance and thermals to go with that software it would be a great choice. Currently, the performance of the pixels is just not good enough. The pixel is a good budget phone, but don't choose it over a flagship like the s24.
I have an s22 Ultra & am going with the Pixel 8 Pro. I'm sick of Samsung's bloatware & am truly excited at all of the AI software tricks they're showcasing. The only drawback for me is the camera zoom. TBH, at max zoom the pics are grainy, but I can see the craters on the moon. I'm giving the Pixel a roll of the dice
I really have no complaints about my Pixel 7 Pro, but this reveal event makes me want to buy the Pixel 8 Pro so badly. I know I don't need it right now, and I'd probably be better off waiting until at least the Pixel 9 Pro, if not longer, but this looks so damn good, especially in that blue color! And the features over what Pixel 7 Pro has are incredible.
Maybe the 10? That's when they're supposed to make their own chips. I think the G1, 2 & 3 chips are made by Samsung...could be wrong. But, 10 is where they're supposed to be fully customizable.
I know you don't usually do benchmarks, but it'd be good to see how the g3 compares to the g1 and g2. I'm also really interested in the voice to text function on the recorder.
I think it makes sense to add thermometer to the list
I can see a future where a child doesnt feel well and a parent says "come here, let me read your temperature" and whips out a smartphone
But it’s more of a gimmick as if people really want to measure temperatures accurately they would rather use a designated device.

Pixel on it's way to become next BlackBerry or HTC. Software support for more than 5 years is pointless, unnecessary burden on techies. And the camera bar design is already looking outdated. You really have to be a middle aged person to think this is a practical thing.

Hell no. IDK why anyone would buy a Pixel over a Galaxy.

I guess. But it's just mashing different takes together of group photos, right? like it takes a whole subject from one picture to another. The real scary shit is if it lets you do it with different body parts of the same subject.
I know people are different but social media and trying to be perfect destroyed me mentally. Although it's cool and all slowly but surely tech gets too much.
u could do it manually with photoshop tbf
There needs to be some cryptological watermark standard that sets a flag as being the original image as-captured. You're never going to stop people from messing with photos, but for photos where you absolutely need to know what the original image was, there should be a way of knowing that.

I'm upgrading from my Pixel 2 XL today. I've had it for 6 years and it's finally showing signs of slowing down. Getting 7 years out of the Pixel 8 Pro is gonna be wonderful 👍
Can confirm. It's been wonderful.
P
in what little ways can you customize it?
Got a Pixel 7 too just a few months ago. Knowing Google, most of the P8 exclusive features will come back to the 7 in a few months.
I just bought the pixel 7 just 2 days ago ;) I might return it as I haven't opened it yet it seems the 8 is better in every way.
You can't even crop a photo in the Google gallery. I find my P7p far more restrictive than the Note 10+ I came from. Basic, simple shit, can't do it. Why can't I sort my gallery by recent? Anyways.
The new features sounds sick! Plus the 7 years software security support, damn!
Looking forward to the full review!
This is my by far the most favourite design in any smartphone. Looks so unique and classy.
Thanks, tuned to see your review @mkbhd
they are currently partnered with ifixit for the pixel 8 and 8 pro to offer all replacement parts and guides
For parts, they announced they're teaming up with iFixIt
Its competition is not 8 gen 2. The G3 is likely as powerfull as the sd888, since the G2 was basically on level with sd865.
I honestly didn't expect for the Pixel 8 to be so packed with software! Very impressive what its capable of doing
Pixel 6 Pro fingerprint works like a charm on mine
I had a 6, and now have a 7 (did a trade in for a great deal last year) and the fingerprint sensor is noticeably better. Can't speak for the 8 but I imagine its fp reader will also be better than the 6
I'm surprised that no one has mentioned this. The sensor on my 7 Pro works quite well, as the sensor on my 6 Pro didn't. The face unlock is also handy -- much of the time you don't even need the fingerprint sensor (it does need good light work, and forget it if you're wearing a mask!)
As a person who never used Pixel and tried 7 Pro, that software magic and all the small thing's and quirkyness makes it stand out from the rest 👍

Probably the first Pixel phone in quite a while that I'm really thinking of upgrading to. Dig the fact that screen is no longer rounded and has that cleaner flat design
You could theoretically use it for photos to get more accurate colors. (White balance)
screen is no longer rounded? 🤔
@@anuragnair5 I probably should have worded that better. I meant that on the 7 Pro the screen is rounded on the sides kind of like the S23 Ultra to a certain degree. It looks nice, but I never found it really useful and makes the screen more prone to damage on the sides from an impact
I feel it's gonna disappear in the next gen like the radar array thing from the pixel 4.
Is it not weird to put the ability to check someone's forehead temp in everyone's hands? Like I don't know if this person is a zombie or not, thank God I happen to have a thermometer on my phone. Love and hate that I want to upgrade from the 7 to probably the 8 pro. Love the bump in the tensor g3, the added features, the better cameras, the temp sensor thing, and especially the 7 years of support. The pro also seems more justified over the regular 8 this generation
I just broke my Pixel 6 pro at the gym so this is great timing for me
But the 8 pro is 300 dollars more expensive than the 8, wasn't expecting that, rumors were saying 899 but oh well google has to crack that 1000 dollars barrier like apple did.
Do you not think the new features are just software? That the g3 and g2 aren't that different?
Same, but I'm going to wait on reviews. The main reason I would upgrade hinge on faster charging and low light pics/vids. But if they let us turn off that automatic oversharpened image feature plaguing the 7 it's an instant upgrade for me
@@moesaffluence let's hope so! I had the pixel 6 pro right when it got released and asap returned it, it got better over time but still a bad experience so I ended up with the s22 ultra exynos, not amazing but better than 6 Pro. The 8 Pro has some amazing features and it's tempting me, but I'll wait to see what s24 ultra brings
Would like to see a lot about the camera. Really interested in the new software upgrades
Man, you've got no idea how long I've been waiting for this video. And of course I'm really looking forward to the review. I got my Pixel 7 Pro based on your review from last year.
Are u happy?
@@anyarasan8529 You mean with my Pixel 7 Pro? I'm more than happy, it's an excellent phone. But tbh, the battery could definitely improve a bit.
Your intro set my Pixel 6 off like 3 times 😂👍 AI assistants ain't all that.
I left the keynote midway through to watch this video... Tells how far we have come ❤

7 years of software updates is solid and worth the $100 increase. Let's cross our fingers for no overheating issues like the pixel 7 🤞🏻
I'm currently reading your comment as my pixel 7 is overheating😂😂
The face-swap photo feature was actually present way back in 2012 Lumia phones. It’s good to see that now it came back through Pixel 8.
But Lumia were windows phones with terrible app support and quite bulky
I just love hearing you talk about stuff in general, I find it soothing at some point 😂
As always, you are doing a great job on these first impressions. Thank you!
On the "made by Google" video, i must Say it looks quite amazing
only if you need telephoto camera lens, otherwise, the difference between non-Pro and Pro this time around is negligible IMO
I remember this camera feature where you can select different moments of faces in a blackberry phone from around 10 years ago
I'm not saying it's as good as this probably is, but they had face recognition back then as well and used it for an awesome feature as I think
It was on the lumia series too... and they seemed to work well.
I miss blackberry, they were considered as premium as Apple back then.
But here phone will merge merge faces taken from various shots to make a best picture.
@@baljeetsangrurexactly like my blackberry did
Love your shirt! Where did you get it??
I use a 70 watt Asus laptop charger to charge my Pixel 7. IT IS INSANE FAST> just get you a good charger and you are good
12hrs of heavy use.. damm what more do you want???
HTC M8 treated me the best I had the the first apple phone it's a gimmick.. people don't know how to use technology or seniors Apple capitalized on that simple and weak
Most people use bt headphones nowadays and will not need a jack. Same for the sd card, it was a valid point when phones had little storage, but now with 512gb or 1tb phones widely available it's a non-issue for most.
on the pixel7pro the face unlocks is way too fast lol. I dont want it always unlocked if i pick it up
Darn, the 8 Pro is the first new phone I'm actually considering buying since like the Galaxy S2 or something.
All my previous phones have slowed down at year 3 compared to out of the box experience, but not now, I have not taken a single update besides security updates.
I upgraded from pxl 6 to 7 and could notice the difference. 7 was better but same moderate battery life (not a heavy user.) Not sure if I want to upgrade to the 8 as special offers also where I live. Might wait for the 9 or 10. 7 is still going strong
I'm coming from the 3a XL 😅
Interesting year for pixels tbh. Curious to see overall what these phones are gonna have to offer this year for sure!
A lot bud they make corrections don't change chargers on users.
They just told you what the phones have to offer
@MrFluro707 lol not what I meant but appreciate your feedback! Wasn't a literal sense but more once users have the devices in their hands.
@@brothamantech8861 Oh I see sorry man hahaha
The reliability and speed of the fingerprint sensor is very important to me. As well as how easy and intuitive it is to hit.
That intro😂 Was waiting for this video 🙌 great video as always! 💯
Might be a worthy upgrade from my 4a. Google is currently appraising the trade in value for it at $200 too, so it’s pretty tempting.
holy shit.... my pixel 6 pro trade in was only like 300-350 or something.... 200 for the 4a which dropped with a pricetag of 350 is insane
😂🤣my 3 XL is 0 for trade-in. Think I'm due for an upgrade?? I think the 8 is in my future.
@@loganhyler9588The s24 isn't the flagship, you have a plus and an ultra above it.
@@PierreDennisyep 10 is when they will shift to tsmc
Yeah, I would wait for 10 of I were you
Have the 7 Pro as well and it is tempting especially with the over 500 trade in value.
@@victoriousgangster they quoted me $420 for mine, but it's a 128GB model, so maybe that's why.
I know you don't usually do benchmarks, but it'd be good to see how the g3 compares to the g1 and g2. I'm also really interested in the voice to text function on the recorder. The transcription feature is a massive productivity hack for me in terms of voice noting. I'd the Pixel 6a, but I've been waiting for better accuracy in some of the later models.
Nope
You think he's allowed to do that? Probably not. In the main review, he might show the benchmarks
@@x_yosinbekof course hes allowed. He may not be allowed to publish a review before enbargo but this phone is available to order so benchmarks can be shown if they wanted to show them.
@@x_yosinbek That's what I meant. He asked what we wanted to see in the main review. It's wishful thinking, obviously. I normally go to Max Tech for those kinds of reviews. ✌
it just an impression video maybe have to wait for review video
Best take? It is giving me goosebumps... it's more than just taking a photo...
