Even if you spook fish they come back to their hole in just a few minutes. Now you can fish that hole on your way back down or after you've fished the other side of the river. Keep the good stuff coming.
Just found your channel. Great channel man. I found it by watching your vid of fly fishing up a bunch of perch it was great. So many of them here and I live fly fishing, but never thought of going for peach that way! I always have been trout (mostly stockers out here) or pike. Makes me wonder how effective sinking line would be and going for walleye....
I use With a 8wt floating line. 64” of 40# Mono then 26” of 30# mid section of Fluorocarbon, then 18” of 20# Fluorocarbon for tippet for largemouth bass here in Florida. 9’ leaders build and my mid section and tippet being floro it sinks very well for me and I have good results. I’m the video what wt rod were you using 6 wt ?
I enjoyed both your leader videos. However, when you say step down from fly line to butt section by 70%, I'm not clear what you're referring to. Diameter or strength. I've always used diameter in tapering leaders, but the transition from fly line to butt section has always been trial and error. I now use 25 (.020) on my 6 weight, 30 (.022") on my 8 wt., and 40 (.024) on my 10 wt. My tippet material is usually Maxima clear or green. I fish both salt and fresh in west central Florida. I've also been using about an 8.5' to 9' leader for everything. My tippets are attached with tippet rings tied, firmly, with Orvis or clinch knots. I usually use a loop for flies. Lately I've been fishing the Belize Loop. I'd welcome your opinion(s).
The reduction of 70% is referencing Diameter - which would dictate that each fly line (6wt, 8wt, 10wt) would require a difference Dia. butt section as the Fly Lines would all be different Diameters. Which follows your Diameter Selection relative to line wt. My leaders are rarely that long, but I also usually fish sinking lines and want the line to pull the fly down and fish at the same depth as my line - in addition to throwing larger than average flies in my fisheries.
What are your feelings on twisted leaders? I use about 15 foot of 12lb to start with and end up with a 5 foot leader with 2 sections, a 36lb butt and a 24lb end with a tippet ring. Off the tippet ring I tie a 4-5 foot tippet of 10lb or less, so that leader won't break behind the ring. What do you think?
Since you have some pull with St.Croix.....What are the odds that you can get them to bring the Legend Ultra/Legend Elite back ? They broke my heart with that move. 😥
I remember a few years back you put out a video for your streamer leader setup and it was just 12 and 20 pound Fluorocarbon with a swivel in between. I have been using that combo since that video came out and I see that you have now changed your formula. I’m just curious on what the flaws you found with that one that caused you to change? Thanks in advance
It is not diameter or line strength that determines energy transfer from line end to fly. Material stiffness -- which varies widely by type and brand --- is what most be graduated to give you a smooth connection!

Been using 30 mono, 20 mono, 1X (12lb floro) for most species, carp, bonefish, small mouth
My set up is almost identical (25 mono, 15 mono, 10 lb flouro)

@@Gunnar_Brammer I'll have to measure my various fly lines. Thanks.
Hi, what is your opinion on twisted leaders. I mainly use them for bass, loop/loop
I use twisted leaders from trout to tarpon. I think It's the better formula I ever used.

Hi, which size of leader would you use for big pike and 10wt line please ?

Are you using fluorocarbon?
In a different video, Gunnar said he uses all mono
