    I thought it looked like absolute perfection on you, particularly on day 3 with the brush application and set with the Kosas Cloud Set Powder. I actually love that shade on you- it completely suits you to my eye, and nicely cancels out any redness in your cheeks. On the first day with the two heavy finger applications on the one side... eh, not so much. But I would have thought that with other foundations as well. Great review!

    Hi there - I realize this is an older video, but I'm super happy that I stumbled across this! My complexion is very comparable to yours as in I have a lot of redness and blotchiness - my skin is neither dry nor oily, i guess it's normal/ordinary, or whatever they call it. I'm a 51 y/o makeup lover who now that the Sephora sale is on, am contemplating getting this foundation, which is quite the splurge for me as funds are tight, but I've been hearing so many good reviews on this, I believe it will be a purchase that I won't regret. Really looking forward to more of your video's. Thank you for sharing and sending you big xo's from Labrador, Canada.

    Hello!! I just watched you’re video, very informative!! I have and love the Nars foundation myself and you & I tend to be shade twins. I recommend sampling Vienna, I think you’ll love it. It’s described as a cool undertone but reads more neutral on the skin. I am extremely neutral and Deauville is too warm and a little light for me too. I think Vienna will be a better match and provides more of a light/medium shade :)

    Always verrrry interesting and informative. The NARS is getting universal raves for the finish. You made the shade you used work but I am now nervous. I actually ordered this the other day and waiting for it to arrive. Shades are always a challenge as I am fair and many oxidize on me. I made my selection based on the shade swatches on the fair model and chose Monte Blanc, a neutral, because it was the shade that was “invisible” on her skin tone - not too light or dark and no rosy or yellow undertones. But it is even lighter than Gobi, also a neutral - yikes! Yet Gobi really showed up on the model, so hopefully Monte Blanc is a winner. Wish me luck.🤞🏻

    • @TheHoodedLid
      @TheHoodedLid  2 года назад

      Good luck! For me, I find the whole model thing to be really off - so I only take it into consideration, I no longer base my color choices 90% on the model.

    • @MusicLover-sb7mo
      @MusicLover-sb7mo 2 года назад

      @@TheHoodedLid - Thank you! Yeah, it’s a crap shoot. I only have an Ulta nearby and that store doesn’t carry the NARS foundation, so the shade swatch on the model’s arm was my best resource. Still learning! I lucked out with CT Beautiful Skin and got 3 Cool on a guess. It was super peachy in the tube and I thought “well *#%@ I’m going to have to return this” but surprisingly it turned out to be a great match. UPDATE - NARS arrived after I wrote this. Monte Blanc is definitely too light BUT the finish is so amazing I almost don’t care. It didn’t oxidize right away (kinda hoped it would this time) but after playing around with bronzer and blush I like it. Just need to apply to my chest a bit (or wear turtlenecks and scrarves).

    I walked into Sephora to buy this and I walked out with the Sheer Glow instead. I didn’t like the texture of the Light Reflecting. It felt tacky on my skin. I got the shade Salzburg - a light neutral and so far…I am very satisfied. It’s very skin like and not too shiny. I don’t need to powder if I don’t want to. I am still playing with it as this is the first Nars foundation I have ever used and it has been not quite a week since I bought it. I would love to compare the two side by side. I may have to get a sample and try it. Hope you get some good sleep. I know the feeling.

    Did you try Mont Blanc? I swatched a bunch of these in store yesterday and Mont Blanc is definitely the most neutral undertone. If you’re worried about it being too light, it does oxidize a bit. I swatched it next to the Mont Blanc from the radiant long wearing foundation and they started out looking similar but the light reflecting swatch oxidized to a slightly darker shade which I was fine with. I’m similar shade to you. The deauville is the next closest shade for me but a bit too yellow. Agree the gobi was very light and also yellow which looked sickly on me.

    Hi. I just found your channel and have been watching loads of your videos over the past week! I’m 54 and live in Spain. Can I ask where you live (state ) as your weather seems similar to mine in terms of humidity. Also are you able to say how much the ring Lighting alters your skin tone? You appear on screen to have the same skin tone as me, but my foundation shades are much lighter than yours. I wondered if in natural light you appear a bit darker or yellow toned? I sent a photo to kjaer weis to be matched and they suggested a shade sooooo much deeper than I am in reality, which goes to prove how hard swatching is on camera/screen. Also, in your early videos you did some great how-to videos on eye makeup and seem to have changed your application now? Could you do a makeup tutorial on what your do now/differently? Loving your down to Earth chatty reviews. Thanks so much!

    • @TheHoodedLid
      @TheHoodedLid  2 года назад +2

      Hi! I live in Los Angeles and as I've been to the south of Spain I can tell you I think our weather is similar! I don't use a ring light because I think it's too blue in tone - although I DO have one. Most days, I'm using natural light from an open door and then I put lights on the other side of my face to even out the light from the door. If I'm really taking my time with eye make-up, I'll do it like my "gamechanger" video - but it takes more time and effort and my videos are long enough! Glad you found me!

    I have the same problems with Nars and Estée Lauder colors. I did buy this foundation however and I use a blue color corrector with this to make it more neutral. As many foundations you get sent/buy you might invest in a color corrector that you can add a drop or two to those very peachy/orange toned foundations.

    • @TheHoodedLid
      @TheHoodedLid  2 года назад +3

      I have tired correctors in the past and find them very tricky. However, I feel my mission here is to help other women who are thinking about purchasing a product. Showing them the colors as they are is tantamount! I also feel that cosmetic companies should do better with their shades. If they feel people are willing to buy correctors or buy two bottles of foundation, why should they make improvements? Two bottles means twice the sales - that's a good thing as far as they're concerned, and they'll never make changes. If, however, they find they are losing market share - they will make changes.

    Great informative video!! I have liked Nars complexion products in the past so I went into my Sephora to test/match between L1 Oslo and L2 Montblanc. I saw some other pale/fair RUclipsrs who went with the yellower Montblanc. They were both seriously very close but the Oslo (neutral/pink) just disappeared on my neck, jaw and forehead, so that’s what I bought. I think it’s lovely! I don’t think it will do for me in the summer though!! I have a too-dark shade of the NARS tinted moisturizer. Maybe I’ll try mixing! 🤷‍♀️ * Won’t have to be mixing for quite awhile here in Michigan, though!! We don’t get consistently warmer weather until almost end of May!! 🤣

    You look beautiful (last day particularly) I like the little bit of powder ! Don't think it would work
    for me, oily skin & hot/humid climate ? I don't like looking "glowy" it usually means I'm HOT !!

      I agree, this might not work for you. Humidity probably not the problem so much as oily skin. But, if you use a mattifying primer....it just might work!

    I’m 59 too and cannot get this foundation to work for me. No matter what products I apply under it, or what I use to apply it, it settles into my pores instantly and gives me polka dot face. Even applying a second layer doesn’t help. I really really dislike it. I don’t even have large pores, that’s what is so crazy. I own so many foundations and this is the only one I’ve ever had that does this. My drugstore foundations don’t even do this. So I use it like a primer on my eyes because it’s okay there. So disappointed in this.
