Love this round up! You know I LOVE the CT! NARS Vienna seems to be a good match for me and was about to film it...BUT my Kosas (shades 160 and 200) arrived yesterday...can't decide which to film first LOL.
I’m. Really happy that I found you! You actually have hooded eyes like I do. Not the other u- tubers claim the have.. you are very down to earth. Very appreciate it.
I have a foundation obsession. My gold standard is the Estée Lauder Waterfresh RIP. I bought drammers of it when it was discontinued. I still use it sparingly and always on the search for a dupe. I bought the Chanel over the weekend and found it lovely. I self tan so I usually buy a medium tone neutral (shell beige in Estee and a light neutral (cool bone) and then mix to desired shade. The Chanel I found easy to apply and wore very well. I tried the CT for the first time this morning and hated it. I actually washed it off. I judged it on how it sat in my brows and hairline Yuck. The Valentino was my most recent fave but the tones are too yellow (even the Rosa shades) but I love how it wears. I haven’t tried the Nars yet I swatched in store and the shades had me shaking my head. There isn’t a true neutral that isn’t yellow. And the search goes on....
The longer you talked the prettier the makeup look set. It is so pretty. I just ordered the Chanel and I am waiting with my fingers crossed for it to arrive that 1) it matches without oxidizing; 2) I love it. I need cool light tones. I thought the format overview was great as I had watched your previous videos so it was a good summary of your thoughts.
This is very helpful especially the color swatches. I was considering the CT and the Nars but am struggling to find a good color match in the Nars for my light, neutral leaning cool skin tone. The shades look too yellow. I have Vienna in another formula but it leans orange I find. The CT looks better for me I think. Am awaiting for more reviews on the new Kosas as well but I suspect I may have the same problem as with the Nars as I've heard the shades run yellow.
Have you tried the Gobi Shade of NARS? If it's too light on it's own, it might be good mixed with Deauville. Just a thought. Your final look with makeup completed was just lovely btw.
First Kiki I want to say I enjoy all of your contents. I wanted to provide a resource. I just discovered Mac cosmetic online state of the art virtual try on how I found my best foundation shade. I was looking for the best shade in the Mac, radiant serum foundation. I discovered that the best shade is NC 47. I’ve always believed I was either NC 50 or NW 45 This to help me find my perfect shade in Nars light, reflecting foundation in the shade Caracas which is identical to the NC 47, but with more coverage. I always assumed I was NC 50 or NW 45. I’m 65 with extremely dry, skin with some melasma. The shade Caracas has some orange in the shade that works as a corrector for my melasma. The Nars foundation and shade are now my holy Grail. Make up forever, reboot, and Givenchy Prism glow are my favor foundations. However, the shades were never right for my skin tone.
Lovely video and thank you for this comparison ❤️🔥. I personally have warm/neutral tone with lots of redness popping up unexpectedly exactly as you’ve described and Chanel foundations are the best shades for me from whathever I ve ever tried. I love BD21 but I can get away with B20 and B10 in winter. It surprises me though that even if you go for B20 with Chanel you’re choosing 4 from CT, I personally found shade 3 neutral the darkest I can wear and started to regret I didn’t go for 2neutral. At the same moment your hands are much paler than mine and now I think… maybe we simply match differently 😁. I match against my neck and not the most dominant shade in my face because some areas are neutral some warm. I find it simply interesting :) Thank you for the video 🙏🫶
I couldn't agree with you more--getting just the right shade of foundation is really key. As someone with a cool undertone, I find that some brands just run warmer even if the shade I choose is labeled "cool." And vice versa. You look stunning in the Charlotte Tilbury Beautiful Skin Foundation! I just recently tried it and am absolutely in love with it. It adds some brightness to the skin which I think is so important for those of us who are over 50.
Ugh! I can totally relate to the "red face" that has shown up later in life. In my youth, I had absolutely no red in my skin at all. I was a solid neutral. Lately, I have to mix foundations to get the right neutral tone, otherwise many neutrals today are too gray. I purchased the new Chanel in B20 and found that it can go orange on me, but if I lightly dust with a translucent powder (no color at all) it keeps it from oxidizing too much. Thanks for this video!
It sounds like we have similar skin. I have found a few products that really do help with the redness. Most recently, I've found the Glow Recipe Avocado Ceramide Serum. I'm liking it because it soothes my skin which makes it less reactive and, thus, less red. Likewise, the Dr. Jars Cicipair serum is great at soothing redness and foundation goes over perfectly. Now, if you want to soothe and cover redness, I love the Dr. Jart Cicipair SPF 30 cream. Don't let the green color intimidate you as it neutralizes all redness without even the slightest green cast. It's on the thick side, but foundation goes right over should you choose to wear a foundation. I often use it as a one and done product because it's moisturizing, has SPF and the color correction is enough to make my skin look great, even under my eyes! Obviously, in the summer you'll need more SPF. Personally, I use the IT cosmetics SPF 50 finishing compact powder and, then, the Tarte brush finishing powder throughout the day.
Thanks for this round up. I am 61 and have dry skin. I do like medium coverage, with a natural, not radiant finish. CT was too glowy for me so I mixed it with the YSL long wearing (l'Encre?) foundation. I was considering the Nars or Chanel, but I splurged on the Tom Ford and am enjoying it (for now). FYI the Chanel BD - Beige Doré means Golden Beige.
Last year, I got the Chanel Ultra Le Teint in B30, it was so dark and orange, so I got BD21, which was too pale. It was an expensive mistake because here in England, we cannot return makeup. The CT foundation looks lovely on you.
OK you've inspired me. I thought our colors were the same. Now I see you're more golden. But you've inspired me to try the Nars and the Dior and I think I'll add Chanel into that.I've been wearing La Mer for years but I want to branch out. I have so much pink in my face that I always have a problem. It's interesting you have pink yet you're golden. I'll check out samples at Sephora.
I have your skin tone! I am also the same age and have similar skin to you (I have quite fine pores, surface redness and am on the dry side). I too am fed up with buying two shades and mixing. - which I have been pretty much doing for the last 30 years! I am def a neutral light medium and it is driving me mad that I can't find a brand that a) does truly neutral shades and b) doesn't oxidise on my skin. I am currently using the Chanel No1 in B20 and Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow in B20 (both come up too warm and both oxidise a little) and I sometimes use Guerlain Parure Gold in 02 (a little dark and oxidises) if I want something with a little more coverage or in the Winter. I tried various shades of Lisa Eldridges foundation, in-store, and all of them were too golden plus I found the foundation too drying and didn't like the more matte finish. I was thinking of trying the Dior Forever Glow and Forever Nude in 2N and will check out your reviews. Thank you for such detailed reviews - they are super helpful!
Your so good at colour matching .. I loved the blush on you the colour of yr top is really complimentary as well ... Your looking gorgeous thank you for this great review x
Yes, I've used that as well - but my face is odd and it's hard to get a "clear piece of skin" for the wand because I have moles. I think their shade match tool that's available on every foundation page is pretty darn good though.
I love that you did this. So relatable. The NARS formula works for me but has been a journey. Had to go back twice for shade swapping. Bought Monte Blanc on-line….love the finish but waaay too light. Looked like porcelain and too ghostly for me. Ulta SA suggested Vienna as she said I was fair with olive undertones (news to me…I am a neutral). Anyway tried it and it’s way too dark. Would be lovely if I were tan. Another Ulta SA tested Deauville which oxidized a bit too warm and looked like makeup so we tested Gobi. It is a bit light and also oxidizes just a touch but the final look is a good match. I had to persist because the formula is so beautiful. Oddly the CT Beautiful Skin shade 3 cool (a lucky on-line guess) is a great color match, but I prefer the NARS formula by far.
Funny you mention - I have the Gobi (have to check if I tossed it) didn't try because the swatch was far too light - but maybe it will darken up on me - I'll try! The Vienna and Deauville mixed was good, but like I said in the video - I want to encourage brands to expand their lines vs buying two colors
Thx for this . I only have CT, but will get Kosas in summer, if your review is good. Thx for saving me a lot of energy & time, and helping me find the best foundations💐enjoy the sun💐
Great video I actually am using Estee lauder double wear and now after seeing this video thinking maybe I need something more dewy. I've struggled with oily skin all my life until now at 57. so its finally nice to have a matte finish on my face. do you think matte finishes look to flat and ageing?
Your situation is identical to mine. I always had oily skin and loved E.L. Double Wear which I wore for many, many years. I think I was always drawn to a matte finish because I was so oily. Now that I am in my 60s, my beloved Double Wear shows every flaw, pore, and wrinkle. I never thought I would miss my oily skin. Lol. I have found a couple of foundations that work well, but am always looking for better. That's why I love these videos.
Great review, loved the info. & demo. I have yet to find a foundation col. that works perfectly without me mixing cols. & brands!!!? Any time of year ! On line buying I no longer attempt.
I bought this years ago but don't remember if it was before I had a channel. It's not in anyway a dupe for the Channel. At the time, Shiseido had a different foundation (no longer on the market) and it looked a lot like that one. It's very pretty.
I’m trying to figure out which of these foundations would look best on my skin. I’m 71 with good (very good) normal skin. Like you even with sunscreen I will get tan. I want the most skin like. Since I don’t want some mask sitting on my face. Whichever one I choose I will probably need at least 2 shades for summer and winter. Right now I’m using the new Lancôme Teint Idole All over concealer in Buff N.
I do prefer to put on niaciniamide when I want to (at night with retin) but, it's usually pretty low on the ingredient deck when added to foundations. Yes, zinc is very tricky for me too
@@TheHoodedLid ok thanks. I have 2N in the new skin glow foundation but it’s too pink on my skin, so do you think Deauville could work as it seems a bit more yellow?
