    In VLC you can choose the output display. so you can see the UI on your laptop screen and video plays in external screen/atem. There are few settings that you have to change - separate video from UI, and choose the playback output.

    I use Powerpoint all the time for playback and Yes you can preview what will show next. Just use Presenter mode and you get 2 boxes; a program box and a Preview box. I also use a small HDMI player that plays videos from a flash drive or sd card.

    Playoutbee is my preferred playback solution. It can be triggered like a Hyperdeck, but way more open about file formats, and because it can run off of either a PC or Pi, much more cost effective. Wish it could record, though.

    The only time I have played back video in a live stream was as an entro video, so setup using Windows Media Player on my laptop as a second screen and started playing. As soon as the controls went away, I could go live, the video looped until they were ready and I just left it running into the live stream.
    Looking back, I agree that isn't the best way to do that, and I will probably look into VLC or MITTI for my next one.

    • @samueldickes

      Playoutbee is recognized by the Atem as a native hyperdeck and behaves like it. As such it can be triggered by Atem macros or control surfaces. But it has a major advantage over the original hyperdecks, you can throw in a myriad of video formats and it plays them back nicely. Playoutbee does exist for MacOS, Windows and the Raspberry Pi from which I use 3 and they are small and consume very little power.

    • @StanleyCarlduPont

      PlayoutBee on Raspi 4 is a great solution......it’s just the short supply of Pis that’s an issue.

    Very nice content. Do you have any experience with the BM Hyperdeck shuttle HD? I want to invest in hardware with the sole pupose of playing back video's in my livestream via my Atem extreme. Is the shuttle any good?

    • @zephanmoses
      @zephanmoses  Год назад

      I don’t have that particular model, but I have the other models. The only thing I don’t like about them is that they are not very forgiving when it comes to file formats. You have to make sure that every file on it is the same resolution, frame, rate, and codec. It’s very rare that my clients give me all of their files with enough advance notice for me to convert every single one of them to be ready for playback, and often times clients will provide files the day of because things change last minute. This happens in smaller organizations all the way up to larger corporations so it’s important to have an option for a video playback. That’s going to accommodate last minute changes.

      @@NoelDelPilar Glad to hear it. I had one of the original yoloboxes and it was interesting but I've found from experience that I never want an all in one system. Your whole Video describes only one Methode: Playing videos from an external source.
    Question that people might ask is, iif it is possible to play videos with the internal Media Player of the Atem.

    • @zephanmoses
      @zephanmoses  8 месяцев назад +1

      It’s not possible. No atem has internal playback. The closest you get is the clip store which could play an animated image sequence up to 400 frames depending on what switcher you have but no Atem has internal video playback. Hence the reason why I’m showing people the only options available ;-)
