I hope they make a movie about her someday. There have been several documentaries and movies about Boudicca the Incei Queen that took on the Romans and almost won but in the end she lost. But this Nubian queen actually held the Romans back. And defeated several Roman cohorts that's about 600 men per cohort roughly the equivalent to an American infantry battalion in the US Army. And got a favorable treaty out of the deal.
This is my favorite queen of all time. This is as bad as a queen can get. Fighting alongside her army. One eye plucked out. That still did stop her. The Romans didn’t plan or attempt to conquer all of Africa. They invaded the Kushites in response to Queen Amanirenas sacking several Egyptian towns while governor Petronius was campaigning in Arabia. In response, Petronius sacked their capital city and established a garrison at Qasr Ibrim. The Nubians attempted to drive them out but were repulsed. They then sent ambassadors to Augustus, and a peace treaty was agreed upon. Much of the Kushites territory was returned, but the Romans maintained control of Qasr Ibrim and the territory north of it.

The Romans didn’t plan or attempt to conquer all of Africa. They invaded the Kushites in response to Queen Amanirenas sacking several Egyptian towns while governor Petronius was campaigning in Arabia.
In response, Petronius sacked their capital city and established a garrison at Qasr Ibrim. The Nubians attempted to drive them out but were repulsed. They then sent ambassadors to Augustus, and a peace treaty was agreed upon.
Much of the Kushites territory was returned, but the Romans maintained control of Qasr Ibrim and the territory north of it.
