Every time they do a reboot, they should also do a "recap issue" that takes the last ten years or more of continuity for that character and explains it. Everything they got up to lately.

"World's Finest" is probably the best book at DC right now. Solid writing from Mark Waid and crisp art from Dan Mora.

I’ve loved Superman, Green Arrow, Shazam, Green Lantern, and more, but everything being paused for two months really sucks. There’s just no way Knight Terrors is good enough to make it feel worth it. And I’m sure I’ll like the main Knight Terrors story since I’ve loved Williamson, especially lately.
I’ve loved Dawn of DC so far personally. Been great for me getting back into comics after a few years

I have been enjoying the Dawn of DC so far. It's gotten me back into monthly's for now. I'm just taking it as a way to get into heroes I've always wanted to read about in new and more beginner friendly arcs
We all watched WB throw away money since the Batman Trilogy,
Their habit of going "take what we give you and love it" is biting them in the tuckus.
If only that was true... WB had a gem in their hands with the saga that started with Man of Steel, and then, for whatever reason (probably because they decided to go full woke and only sell stuff that are relatable to BLM and LGBT morons), they decided to bash themselves their own product... Lied about sales, stopped projects that were bringing tons of money, fired a bunch of people, acted like spoiled kids, and then went full hardcore into destroying anything related to their own universe, or actors who were supporting it.
They just didn't care about their own product, no matter how successful it was, in an attempt to start over with... Whatever the hell they're doing.. The next Black Harry Potter, probably.

I genuinely LOVED Convergence. It was a beautiful tribute to all the previous DC continuities and the iconic series that defined our childhood, like the 80's Teen Titans comics or the 90's Superman stories by Dan Jurgens. Besides, it was great the return of the Silver Age Crime Syndicate and other characters that were in oblivion for many years
I didn’t, just reminded me of how horrible DC is now, and how much better it could have been. DC new 52 onward will always be my childhood heartbreak.
The problem with DC comics is that I live in Japan and even though DC promised that their app would be global by the summer of 2021, here it is 2 years later and I’m still waiting. Meanwhile, I’ve been enjoying Marvel Comics every week for years.
I plan to move to Japan in the future, what is buying American comics over there ?

The problem with DC Comics extends back to 2015. It's not the problem, it's multiple problems. If we could get rid of almost the entire staff and replace them with simply, a good staff with talent and who are actual fans, that would only be one step to fixing one problem.

For me some of the comics have been a little weird but they have came out with good bangers such as DCeased I thought it was a great story.
Rebirth was the best era in the last ten years. There was so much positivity, so much hype, so much interest
When DC dropped the ball with Rebirth it was the last straw for me. I got out right after Metal ended and I really don’t feel like I’m missing out.
Sad to say the same happened with me. Once Metal ended I was out as well and don’t feel bad about it. Always going to have Rebirth and everything before it that we can go back on and enjoy.
i’ll never forget Jessica and Simon’s GL run. I really connected with those characters and have wished they didn’t fall off so hard in the DCU.

I swear. I feel like Death Metal being written in such a way that it caps off decades of storytelling and (haphazardly) ties everything together has, for me, given readers an “out” from reading DC. It’s like that Doctor Who special where the 10th and 11th Doctors teamed up with the War Doctor, teamed up with every Doctor in history (up to that point), and wrapped up the storyline set up with the 9th Doctor about what happened to the Daleks.
Yeah but Capaldi is imo the best doctor. If his run was as boring and weak every DC follow up, youd have a point. 😂

DC and Marvel have undeniable problems, but idk if they’re as close to death as all the “Comics are Dying!” videos would lead you to believe they are.
It's weird that 'The New Golden Age' is different from 'Dawn of DC' but I'm loving it! The Justice Society title is great and I loved the Stargirl Lost Children title which was a prequel of sorts. CANNOT WAIT for the Jay Garrick and Alan Scott titles.
Dawn of DC, I'm actually enjoying the pace of it because I feel like I have a chance to digest everything and can get excited for what might be coming next, BUT I do find the Knight Terrors event very unnecessary right now.
Both of those books have been really good but you can tell they were meant to be on time concurrently with one another bc the last issue on stargirl tells you to follow her into issue 6 of JSA

I'm not the biggest fan of Riley Rossmo so I'm not sure how that sandman one is gonna be, I feel like his style only works for certain books so maybe they'll give him a house style to work with, I don't think his normal style would rlly work for sandman
With how things have been lately I would honestly really enjoy and prefer some videos of things you love in comics rn because things haven't been great.
Mainstream comics lost me a few years ago. I remember enjoying some early New 52 Flash and Green Arrow but that was about it at the time and I just stopped reading comics when those lost my interest. In the last handful of years I've been reading a lil bit. I've liked stuff from IDW, Boom, and Dynamite. I pretty much don't read any superhero books anymore. Other than The Spirit and The Phantom. There have been good Disney comics. Some licensed stuff has been good. I think the last new series I really liked was Paper Girls and that was forever ago

I was always more of a DC fan ever since the Super Friends & Super Powers Team & read a lot of DC Comics and collecting them from the 80s & 90s to the 2000. Also, through that era DC had the better continuity. Now, somewhere in the 2000s till present day, things switched and marvel ended up, starting to do the better continuity and explaining their universe, and how it works a lot better where DC was king of this before. It was like DC and Marvel traded places. Before you would Marvel have Apocalyptica, X-Men, and things getting destroyed with giant sentinel robots, meanwhile, everything would be fine and green and beautiful no damage Spider-Man would be just swinging, stopping a mugger grabbing an old lady’s purse. When DC did it and Bane closed off Gotham do you know throughout all the comics or most of them? Gotham was really damaged and closed off.
I am actually pretty excited for Dawn of DC.

The worst part is that so many of the books are stopping to let Knight Terrors happen. It's really weird to force it between the launch of a new reboot instead of doing it before. Its annoying as hell lol

@@johnthai6188 the first 5 minutes of the video explain that it is a reboot, but its soft. I just don't care about the soft/hard distinction personally, but either way, it's still an issue that the reset/restart/soft reboot is interrupted by an event less than midway through most of the stories.
@@HobbiesofaMan well that's more of a problem in events in general really if you think about it. like you have a new run that is starting, and than out of no where you have an event that writers have to work around. event's do derail an on going run; the early 2000s moon knight run, after the first story arc, the writer had to deal with the civil war event.

@@HobbiesofaMan ok we agree then. here's the thing i do like it sometimes when it does derail. because when you read a whole run from start to finish, those derail moments lets you see where the whole universe was at: at the moment. like when i read bendis's new avengers, and you see the events of civil war, secret invasion and dark reign happening, you do get a broader scoop of the universe. but yes it sometimes can be annoying that it derails the run.

Why cant someone in a meeting at DC just say. "Hey, remember how comics were in the 70s and 80s? Let's do that with a more modern writing style."
Comics weren't good in the 70-80s... As a matter of fact, in the 80s they decided to make a new reboot to bring the best era of the comics, at least for DC. And I'm telling you this as someone who actually read everything related to Green Lantern, Batman and Superman, from the very first comic. 70-80s were in fact a huge mess. There were wars between writers, people who were pushing their own agenda, tons of inconsistencies, there wasn't even a good plot... Reason why Crisis on Infinite Earth was so popular it's because for the first time things made sense again.

I'm someone who never really read the comics but have always red wikis and watched your content to learn about the characters, but this year I've finally gotten into reading comics with Blue Beetle Graduation Day and see the Dawn of DC stuff. I've been enjoying it because of the slower pace cause I'm still trying to get my bearings and figure out some of this stuff, but I can see for most people who have been reading for a while the pace slowing down getting frustrating especially with everything going on hold for 2 months with something that may not matter that much after it happens.
IMO, DC needs to have an Elseworlds “Realverse” line of comics that take place in a down to Earth realistic universe with no super powers, no fantastic magic, no gods, no present aliens, no connection to the other universes in the Multiverse, and only real science. Think the Christopher Nolan Dark Knight films and the first season of Arrow. What stories could be told if you tried just tooling around in that sandbox?
Image telling pulp stories about investigative reporters Clark Kent, Lois Lane, and Jimmy Olsen who fight for truth and justice using journalism to expose corrupt businessman and politician Lex Luthor without Clark being a nearly invincible flying strong man.
Imagine a down to Earth spy thriller series told about CIA agents Diana Prince and Steve Trevor.
Imagine the only masked heroes being the ones without powers like the Bat Family, the Arrow Family, the Question, and Vigilante.
Dawn of DC did get me back into comics but I haven't read anything new, I went back and read new 52 batman

I tell you, Rebirth Superman is awesome. It’s got a few issues that are not that great, but the overall writing made me feel like i was reading 90s Superman when I was collecting. I just bought all four of the deluxe hardcover volumes (found them all at half price or. better). Now I’ve got to look into Action Comics Rebirth to fill in the other side of the run. I miss the triangle era when there were four books running in story lines together and you just got all of them because they all fully connected together. But I get that isn’t probably a doable thing today like it was back in the 90s-early 2000s. I’m interested in Dawn of DC, but I just can’t drop $5 an issue for them. I guess I’ll try catching them in a few years in collected editions hopefully at a discount.

Your videos are soo informative & the fact that comics are still soo inaccessible to newer fans (even with these soft reboots) really makes me sad. Hope this DC things works out. Not quite sure I'm really into DC except for specific characters and things. I enjoyed that Harley Quinn comic that was an extension of the TV show that pretty much acts a way to tide fans over until the show comes out.
How has it been Yawn? I actually think DC has been releasing some fantastic titles. And some of the upcoming stuff looks very promising.
Dawn of DC sounded like it might be interesting, but a few things have kept me away: 1) I'm still rather enthralled reading a lot of current Marvel comics, and catching up on some older runs; 2) I still feel like I need to "catch up" a bit to what's happened in recent years; and 3) I'm definitely facing a "paralysis of choice", as I'm not really sure where I should start and not sure I want to spend the time researching which comic runs are underway (including writers or characters, tone/style, etc.). That said, if anyone wants to recommend a good Dawn of DC series (and tell me a bit about why, if it's characters or writer or tone, etc.), that'd be great - I'll definitely put them into consideration.
read superman by williamson, read all of PKJ's war world saga/ his entire action comics run; pkj's action comics run starts in issue 1030. city boy is a fun mini-series, nightwing by tom taylor i hear is really good, green arrow by williamson is good i hear, the new doom patrol, green lantern i hear is fun, flash by jeremy adams is good. i hear good things with cycborg, spirt world and ram v vigil. also ram v detective comics is a great slow burn: it starts at issue 1062. i know people don't like jon kent at the moment, but i like his new mini-series. if you want to know what the new supergirl movie tone and story would be like, read tom king's supergirl book.

So far the only books that I feel have been halted is Titans and Green Arrow. The Shazam #2 seems to be leading into knight terrors and the same thing with green lantern # 2 it seems to be leading into knight terrors as well I’ve only read Superman # 1 so I don’t know what’s happening over there at the moment but yeah

Regarding Catwoman, you're incorrect. Issue 52 is labelled Part 2--not Part 5 as you say. And to the larger point about whether it's a good jumping on point, I would argue that it is because it's the first real outing for a brand-new Catwoman (in Part 1 Selina goes to jail; in Part 2, new Catwoman Eiko takes over).

The slow output has been nice for me. I have a much easier time sampling every book and seeing what I like. Everything has just been pure fun and just simple to jump in. But BAM! 2 months everything I like stops.. Worlds Finest Teen Titans and Tales of the Titans starts so that'll be fun. Birds of prey starts I think. I think this may be a 5D chess move to get people to sample the newer books coming out while Knight Terrors happens
They should've just waited till after this event to do this relaunch rather than pause every single title (especially ones like Shazam and Green Lantern that have only put out 2 issues so far). I'm really enjoying the superman title right now and it sucks that I have to wait 2 months or so for the next issue to come out (same with Shazam and Green Lantern).

Yup. My problem with DC is they are too afraid to change up the mold. They’re too scared of actually making big ramifications to the characters status quo. Batman MARRYING Catwoman? Hell no. Let’s refuse to do that and force them to only carry it out in Black Label.
They’re too scared of giving us changes. Harley a villain? Nope! Only Antihero Harley who works with the Bat family instead of being a mega adversary! Step on some toes! The reboots do not even feel like reboots. It’s just a continuation of ALL the same things. Rebirth is just New 52 version 2. It’s so dumb. Black Label is doing what DC Comics should be doing.
you know harley was a villain first you know; she was joker's side kick. plus, the idea of her being an anti-hero was the idea of giving character's changing her old mold. also, if we are talking about king's batman, he did marry off with catwoman in issue 85. now when it comes to outside of his run, then i would agree with you.
You are only partially true. Superman married and had a son. Harley Quinn was a villain and became a hero (not anti-hero, hero). Batman has a son too. Some things did change, but some did not.
I don't mind the slow roll-out. This is easily the most DC I've read since Rebirth. Superman, Action Comics, Nightwing, Titans, Cyborg, Steelworks, Green Arrow, Batman are all what I'm really enjoying. Not to mention Wonder Woman, Flash, John Stewart GL, and more announcements. Everything going on pause for Knight Terrors is wack.

I think the problem with DC now is DC needs to explain how their universe works and what do people get out of it. I hate to say it I think Marvels done an excellent job of this recently through their cinematic universe to people that don’t follow their comics. How the eternal’s work, How celestial’s work and the old Gods like Zeus and just playing their hierarchy. DC had a great story arc on the God and also a reboot that made High Father, Darkside’s brother, which I think was a good move. They don’t really go into too much detail as to what the Monitors & anti-Monitor are doing they just say to prevent incursions is bad, but they don’t say why, and they don’t explain why even having the people DC Universe is necessary. In Marvel, they explain humans are necessary as like a fertilizer from their life force to grow the Celeste. It seems like everything in Marvel. It seems like everything in Marvel has a purpose and a place and a connection where DCs universe is just generic and I hate saying this again because I am a bigger DC fan but this was what do you see used to be good at they need to go back to Continuity and structure.

I counted how many issues are in knight terrors and it’s 42 issues from July and August for the event and I’m not doing that for my pull lol
the main issues for that event is only 4 issues, the rest are tie-ins.

Wonder Woman just came out written by Tom King, We've had Titans since May from Tom Taylor. I read the Shazam book, my wife likes it too. Honestly you like World's Finest? Mark Waid is doing both its really quite good.

It Works Well But Sometimes A Comic Can't Do Everything, We Need Pacing And Nuance Instead Of Side Tales Within A Huge Arc. But Many Comics Can Make A Huge Arc Work, But As Soon As They Have A Huge Peak They Linger Too Long On That Hype, What Is Needed To Make A Good Story Arc Is To Make It Feel That Time Is Passing Instead Of Being Stuck In The Moment. -Jack

DC rebirth wasn't successful because of continuously launching new titles it was because of the stories Wally coming back, Detective comics, the superman comics, supersons, nightwing, Batgirl, Flash all these were really good books.
Dawn of DC doesn't have this type of quality across the books.

Having said that I don’t agree completely on what you say about Dawn of DC… I think they are doing a good job building up the characters one by one… makes us like each and everyone. They didn’t stop the storyline midway for anyone… superboy and some other titles continue their stories… they merged the knight terrors into the end of the issues of the others so the hype of the event is much higher… I don’t mind taking a small break from the build up to read about their nightmares…maybe that’s just me. Overall I think right now DC comics is at a very good standard unlike marvel… this is my opinion.

Like it or not the problem started with Geoff Johns’ and company’s resets(Geoff is more like Superboy Prime in the multiversal machinations of Dr Dan/Manhattan). It set up an endless cascade of [soft/hard] reboots and resets. What made Rebirth so dope is that it tied together the remnants of the last embers of continuity DC ever had. What came out Dan/Geoff’s resets is a DC with a endless anti-continuity or what i think of as an Elseworld continuity. This is what you get when you try to reestablish heroes from whom the audience has moved on back as the main title barers.
Knight Terrors feels so unnecessary to have coming. We've seen the concept of the heroes ( ESPECIALLY BATMAN I CAN'T EMPHASIZE HOW OFTEN THEY USE HIM ) fighting things in their heads before many times by different villains in different scenarios. I'm really wanting something just shattering and changes the comics for decades.

I do the same thing, but with Dragonball while watching any of the anime, pointing out the differences between it & the manga, constantly annoying my friends. And then I point out the fact Toriyama spent most of his working Manga career drunk while watching old Kung Fu movies, they look at me kinda funny.

I think it's because DC Rebirth had something to say it was something that mattered. Don't get me wrong alot of the books have been good in the Dawn of dc but it's not got the impact of a event shaking up the universe. Best thing about knight terrors it gives my wallet a brake 😂

Some of 52 was terrible. Batman was peak though with bangers like court and death of family
@@datderpderping501 there's was more in the new 52 era of dc that were good: swamp thing, animal man, jeff lemire's green arrow, geoff johns aquaman, grayson, azzarello's wonder woman, new 52 supergirl, superman unchained, omega men 12 issue series, batman and robin by tomasi, and some of the earth 2 books. the new 52 as a whole was more of a mixed bag, than it being entirely being terrible.

I have had 0% hope for anything DC for so long now and I still can’t see anything getting any better. I won’t shell out good money on books that will just reboot in a couple years. Give me something that will get thrilled to go to my comic shop for like I used to. Until then I’ll just start buying more indie books since I get more enjoyment from them.

Bumblebee and Rise of the Beasts are straight up reboots. It has been confirmed (and the state of Unicron in ROTB vs. TLK makes it clear) that they are not in continuity with the Michael Bay movies.
My exposure to these characters is tv shows and animated movies but I always preferred the look of the Conner from ROTS to YJ.
The animated shows have more or less been completely borked, but we definitely have been getting a lot of good animated movies lately and are in a bit of a golden age for thus. Killing joke, Long Halloween, Batman and Harley Quinn, Justice league dark, Injustice, Gods & Monsters, Super Sons, Flash Point, Justice Society of America, and that's just like the past 5 years.
