I love the fact the watch has fixed lugs even considering the first Pelagos has one of the best if not the best bracelet in the market, fixed lugs is the the ultimate tool watch case design feature, thanks for the review, hope you can get your hands on one of those issued watches would love to see it closely, I've about the same wrist size as yours and I'm really considering getting this for my self as my 40th birthday present
Owner of an issued M.N.80 94010 bought in Brest 18 years ago here. Having received a M.N.22 civilian FXD a few days ago, I can only echo your comments. This wears much better on my medium sized (7 inch) wrist than I would have thought. Very clever design, and completely in the spirit of the original snowflake Tudor Submariner's. Bought a couple of Crown & Buckle single piece fabric strap with adjustable loop, and they fit this watch really well.
On my 7 inch wrist the FXD wears like a dream. The strap fits me perfectly and it is really easy to adjust on the go when my wrist expands during the day.
Scott, Superb video as always. Thank you for the mention...very kind of you. Your book is one that gets referred too several times a week. Thank you so much for your incredible efforts. Best regards
Wonderful video, and I love how knowledgeable you are and how you effortlessly share knowledge and incorporate it in the video. Looks like you’ve got some great perlon straps too. Where do you usually get yours?
I own my modern Tolex and my only vintage watch is the 16600. I got the MN21 but couldn’t resist searching for an MN77 (birth year), or just suggest another vintage MN.
Thank you for making this video. Your video and expertise is second to none. I’m am trying to find an original version of the FXD. Any information would be appreciated. Thank you again.
Thank you! I really appreciate it. If you mean the one made especially for the MN commandos with just two lines on the dial, they do pop up on chrono24 once in a while
I put the FXD on a perlon strap because I have the same sized wrists. Prior to trying it on at the AD, I doubted I could wear it. It is easily my favorite watch.
This video review is perfection, thank you! Is the issued FXD without crown guards or was that just the angle of the camera? P.s. the FXD on NDC strap looks amazing
love this channel! stumbled here accidentally because ive been eyeing on a pelagos Fxd. btw, are those perlons from C&B grey or black? I dont know if its the lighting you use or if the color is Admiralty Grey. tnx.
Hi great video. I am interested in purchasing your book but it does not seem to be available on Amazon. Do you by chance have any copies still for sale?
Incredibly informative review. Very appreciative. I got offered one yesterday, but couldn’t reply to my AD until later in the day and missed out. I’m still on the fence on whether it’ll be too large on my slightly smaller than 6.5” wrist.
This video, and your page in general, are fantastic! Thanks for all the informative content! I’ve been thinking about purchasing a vintage Tudor to celebrate acquiring a graduate degree, but I’ve always wondered how well they keep time? I know that no one should expect pristine accuracy from a mechanical movement but my experience with newer ETA movements (2428-2 and 2892-A2) have been great. Should I expect the same from the Caliber 2784?
Thanks for the very interesting review. I particularly enjoyed your thoughts on the dimensions and strap options. I hope you manage to bag a M.N. issued FXD before too long. with decommissioning papers, …..ahem!
My pleasure! While it would be cool to have an issued one now, I think it will be even more exciting in a few years if one pops up that has some wear and tear from issued use.
Thank you! While I haven't seen anyone open up the issued version of the FXD, I would be really surprised if it was any different from the Tudor in-house movement in the civilian FXD. The vintage Tudor MNs were also identical to their civilian counterparts, using ETA movements, which made them more attractive from a cost perspective than the Rolex Submariners of the same time period.
The version I have is a traditional version only stitched at the hook end, allowing you to remove the catch piece. Reach out to them to see which model in their current collection would work.
Hi, may i know what color is the crown&buckle perlon strap on the FXD? Is it grey or checker melange (both pretty similar looking based on their website)? Thank you in advance
Very interesting in regards to the strap, I’ve been trying to find someone with the black strap ever since the FXD was leaked (I collect Military issued straps)
On my 6.25 I got the strap ok by ensuring the maximum amount was on the double over - ie making sure the titanium loop was close to the watch head. In that way the OG strap was just about OK. That said a Garmin strap (about £4) even better
Great video and content, but you misspoke when you said the FXD has mineral glass - perhaps it slipped through the editing process. Again, great video and content!
Picked up the FXD a month ago - absolutely love it and really nice addition to the Pelagos range. I used to own the Pelagos LHD and the FXD wears thinner and smaller despite the lug-to-lug at 52mm which in reality wears smaller with the NATO straps. Sold my LHD in June when I expressed interest in a new Submariner 124060 no date. Got the call to pick up and couldn’t be happier to get one at retail! Despite that I was looking at a BB58 Blue. Then I heard the FXD being released so asked my AD keep me in mind. Happy to have picked up 2 brilliant divers in the Submariner and FXD 😎
If you pull strap further through the watch and bring buckle close to side it will shorten the tail. I have 7” wrist and thought strap was too long but was actually plenty short once I adjusted properly. You didn’t have to cut it. Love the watch though! Just secured my 21 before the end of the year😁picking it up tomorrow!
Thank you. It also depends where you'd like the buckle to sit on your wrist and the amount of doubling up you prefer- on my smaller wrist I still had excess in that configuration. I am also hearing that there may be different sized straps for different markets, mine being for the US market.
@@WATCHISTRY Actually that's not a buckle, but a loop, same as the loop on original MN straps and really looks a bit weird at the center of the wrist like that ;) But if you like it then great!
Thank you- agreed, would love to see a shorter fabric strap offered by Tudor- but I think it's only a matter of time before some interesting aftermarket options appear.
@@WATCHISTRY Tudor offer a small, medium and large version of the fabric strap. I presented my warranty card with receipt at Tudor service centre. They swapped it for me.
Good review, this watch would have been better if it came with a Marine Nationale style strap as well to compliment the heritage and also would provide a better fit for smaller wrists.
Generally no; the Tudor Submariners used spring bars. That said, I have seen one online, and only one, Tudor Submariner issued to the MN that had fixed lugs; because I haven't seen others, it's hard to say how that came about.
The best watch channel on RUclips.
Hands Down.
Thank you so much for your continued support and enthusiasm- it means a lot!
Love your enthusiasm and great knowledge! “Thanks Mom!” 😆
