Bought mine several years ago for $340 from Jomashop. It’s gotten lots of use and the polished bezel is all scuffed and dinged, but I love this watch. I’ve taken it swimming , hiking, vacations, daily work, evening out…it goes with everything, everywhere. I generally find field watches boring so really appreciate the day-date complication. This is a watch for life.
Hello again Ben, it's really good to see you back. I hope you are settling well into your new job. Congratulations on your purchase 👏! This watch has everything: heritage, military specification, historical context and a first class movement. You are not alone in finding that it's supremely comfortable. ID Guy gave us a similar purchaser's experience recently, with his design emphasis, and he's really impressed too. I was at my AD yesterday but I couldn't get to see it: 😕 😪 you need to "express an interest", and then, at some time in the future, it will arrive. My wrist is about the same size as yours, and your experience is enough for me to feel that I could wear this watch without a problem. You describe it as a "strap monster": that doesn't do it justice! It's so easy to change straps that you could end up with a box full... your family and friends know just what to buy you for Christmas! This, the Pro and the Aqua Terra 41 Small Seconds with dark blue dial constitute my current wish list... 🤞
Yeah that's the game I can't play... "expressing an interest" and then buying another 3 or 4 watches before the AD deigns to "offer you the opportunity" to buy the FXD! Which is why I had little choice. I used to work in Central HK where there's a shop called Mister Chrono and I would probably have bought other straps already. But since I now work from home, I'll have to make a trip at some point, unless I can' wait and buy online one night haha. Yes, that blue dial Aqua Terra is actually really nice, I tried it on the rubber strap and it's a mix of sporty and dressy that somehow works.
@@TOKKANTE The dealer experience doesn't seem to be as bad in the UK as it does for you. I've been able to "express an interest" without a prior purchase at a Tudor dealer: the situation isn't as bad as with Rolex. The problem is that popular Tudors are in relatively short supply. Even the BB58 doesn't stay on the shelf any longer than a week. So if we want a Pro or FXD we just need to wait for a while. I don't mind that if I don't need to spend a fortune to begin with... The FXD is really special: I hope you enjoy it. 😀
Congrats for the watch. I own the fxd 21, and even though I have some other watches, this one gets the most of wrist time. Velcro will wear out after a while, I have a parachute strap from Erika original. This piece is a keeper and will pass on to my kids. Bezel sound and the feel is different indeed, but you need that when visibility is low.
Me too, I find it's my most worn watch still after 3 months, and have also put it on an Erika MN parachute strap and also a Strap Tailor single pass NATO. The only Tudor I need!
Can’t see paying over retail unless it was the 21. At $4250 usd with tax, it’s hard to pay 1k plus over retail. Glad you got it, why Tudor didn’t just leave the 21 on the case back for the entire run is surprising
Agreed there’s plenty of marine national tried it but bought the LHD and if want I can always put a NATO 😉 plus the awesome roulette date it’s awesome! How much did you paid for your FXD
It’s sounds very crisp bezel!!!!!! Are you sure the bezel is ok? I’ve tried and it sounds smoother almost like the regular Pelagos man !!! It should have ball bearings! Bit awkward!😳
Along with your FXD ? In first weeks it’s bit stiff it should be smoother ( Heritage, Pro,GMT ,LHD) all are smooth giving power have you tried other models like yours ?
Congratulations with this new watch Ben. It looks awesome! Unfortunately I already spent my money on the NTTD Seamaster because I could see myself wearing this one as well.
@@TOKKANTE 2 divers in my humble collection should be plenty. Now I’m patiently waiting for my GMT to come in at the AD…sometimes I call them just to check if their phone is still working 😂
Hey Ben! I really like your channel and appreciate your very thoughtful reviews! Like you, I appreciate the aesthetic of German watches. That said, could you ever do some reviews on Mühle-Glashütte pieces? I think they offer superb quality at reasonable prices and are an excellent value proposition. They just don’t get the attention that I think they deserve. In any case, keep up the great work!
Thank you, I would love to, especially the SAR Rescue-Timer and the newly released SAR Mission-Timer, BUT the problem is that I can't seem to find them ANYWHERE in Hong Kong! Never seen one, don't even think there's an AD here.... I should actually contact them to see if they have some obscure little AD somewhere.
Excellent video Ben and glad you got the FXD and love it. I think it’s the perfect daily driver. Definitely get the MN parachute strap. Erika’s Originals do one especially for the FXD and while it is more expensive than ones you can get from Mister Chrono it’s brilliant and I wear it all the time on my FXD.
Yes, the Erika is a MUST! Haven't been to Mister Chrono in a while since I now work from home, I was kinda hoping that they sell them?! Too bad then, will need to order online. I never thought I'd like that Tudor strap so much but it's so easy to adjust. No wonder RM uses velcro too, they're "almost" in the same league lol!
Welcome back! Glad you're stoked by the new MN. Honeymoon's are sweet! Personally I don't really get this watch or the whole MN shiz. Maybe if it was RN! But then Tudor leave me cold. When people say 'Tudor' to me, I think 'mock' and 'mansion'; footballers and Cheshire. I appreciate I'm in the minority! And, I've gotta hand it a lume award!
@@TOKKANTE thanks 🙏. I would keep the SLA045 as I love the blue on grey. It’s also the most limited, to 300 only. This watch makes me not rushing to an Seamaster from these same colors.
