No auto tune, no computer editing, just raw talent and analog recording greatness. No audio engineer now could do what these folks did in the 70’s. It’s a lost art.
Pitch correction was being done even back then, the difference being that it took a lot of time, and was not being done routinely (ABBA even did it on "The king has lost his crown", but that may have been the only time). You are completely wrong about audio engineers not being able to do that today; the question is, is anyone going to pay for it...? How the production is going to be made is a producer/record label decision, not a decision of the audio engineer. The one who pays always have the final say.
@ yes, with eventide harmonizers, but that is nothing compared to the tools and plugins of today. In the 70’s they used Studer 2” reel to reels and rack gear exclusively. That is not the case today with PT and 192khz 24b IO’s. Punch in your weight class sport.
The best part is that they genuinely look like they're having fun. Edit: it's what makes you forget that this is just the recording of the song in some studio. Like this is its own video by itself!

It's so melodic Benny and Bjorn borrowed parts/elements of this song and used it in Murray Head's "One Night in Bangkok" (Chess). I've never read anything "official"...but I can definitely hear the influence. :-)
When that chorus hits, it’s unstoppable. It’s like Agnetha and Frida create a sonic boom vocally. Also I love sort of the church choir vocals in the background. It’s crazy to think that those vocals are also coming out of the same two women.

The ignorance of this comment. Lol
@ oh ok sport whatever you say. Have you ever done a tape flange, or do you just simulate one with plug-ins?

The best part is that they genuinely look like they're having fun.

The way Anna is just standing there with her hands in her pockets. So effortlessly, it’s just amazing 🤩
You've got the name wrong. It's Agnetha who's standing there with her hands in her pockets while singing. Agnetha is the one with the blonde hair.
@@zx50 Hi! Agnetha is known as Anna in some countries, mostly because of people messing up the Swedish pronunciation. Agnetha herself said in some interviews that is okay to use that name, it became sort of a nickname for her I’m assuming.
Also my granny, who introduced me to ABBA when I was a kid used to call her Anna and I took on the habit 😅

Yes I love this too. Frieda is quite relaxed to but is very prepped for agnethas vocals… they were fabulous harmonisers
Of all the incredible songs ABBA did, this is probably the most melodic and rhythmic in terms of overall harmony. Loving it in 2021.
Agreed that break is funky !!!!
It's so melodic Benny and Bjorn borrowed parts/elements of this song and used it in Murray Head's "One Night in Bangkok" (Chess). I've never read anything "official"...but I can definitely hear the influence. :-)
I disagree with u there, sos is the best
But I do see you point
Thats very true and most beauty vocal melody for me is Chiquitita
When that chorus hits, it’s unstoppable. It’s like Agnetha and Frida create a sonic boom vocally. Also I love sort of the church choir vocals in the background. It’s crazy to think that those vocals are also coming out of the same two women.
Last century was dropping bangers after bangers 🔥
How these guys came up with these catchy melody's is a level of genius today's producers can only dream of.
True man! Bjorn and Benny were geniuses, they wrote songs that live today! And we must not forget, of course, the dynamic duo Frida and Agnetha that gave soul to these compositions!
Naelson Simões lmao I love reading the English ”Bjorn” as a Swede
