I agree for the most part and frankly I think they're more meant to be a story device that drives us forward. Without them we really would have no place in the game, no reason to follow the Founder, visit the new worlds, etc. But as far as the bad big evil...i mean they're attacking Earth so that's bad...?
@@Loup_DM In my honest opinion I see the Root as the threat to our homeworld. As you mentioned, giving drive to find Andrew. I never minded the fact that the other planets have little to no trace of Root, but every one of them know of it (Corsus, Yaesha) or have personally dealt with it (Rhom, Yaesha). You might be attacking locals but with Rhom, it is a hostile planet and you look like the Akari which the Buri are at war with, naturally making most Buri hostile to you. Corsus is over run with a hivemind that desires all to be one with it, including the Root. Any who stand against the Iskal are inherently enemies and shall be purged. On Yaesha everything you fight is a soldier for the Empress' army, relations have been bad with humans with past visits and the fact that one is sided and co-runs the rebellion threatening their rule. We arn't invaders as most people have taken it, infact I believe if the Buri and the Empress' Pan would be willing to negotiate with you if there weren't pre-existing hatred for humans (or Akari). Look at the Undying King, Iskal Queen, and the Ravager. None of them attack first, they're willing to talk and even try to bargain with you, willing to help you if you help them.
@@joshuab7737 Yeah, but Yaesha also has reason to dislike outsiders: 1) The Krell King's request of the Pan Empress is what started the whole mess with the Thaen/Tree of Life. Something about the poisoned fruit is what was actually keeping the tree alive, so removing it killed the tree and effectively has robbed the Pan immortals of their immortality long-term. (not sure which arrived first, so I'll start chronologically) 2) Ford arrived on the planet with his team. Due to a language barrier, this ended up with a fight and all of his team being killed and him being nearly killed. THAT led to him being rescued by and throwing in with the rebels, bringing them stories of the American revolution, weapons and training from Earth, and really getting the rebellion going. 3) Chronos (for lack of a name - but the main character in Chronos) ventured from the Krell world to the Pan's world of Yaesha, killed one of their queens, then killed their Guardian, the One of Many, who had also protected the Pan before they left their old home continent/world, traveled across the great expanse/sea with them on their ship, and protected them since arriving in Yaesha. THIS, in turn, opened the world up to invasion by the Root. ...and that's ignoring that a Human Dreamer was linked to a Guardian there (I'm still not 100% clear if it was the One of Many or a different one, I need to go and read the terminals in Remnant again...) . So suffice to say, the Pan/Yaesha Empress/Nobility have some pretty decent reasons to distrust the Remnant character(s) . The Root are the big bad, though I think this is more clear in Chronos due to them talking to you (the Tree and the Dragon both), which also displays the Root is, like the Flood in Halo, not merely a tide of endless hordes, but also a cunning and expansive mind capable of planning and plotting.
Lets keep these videos going. There is a lot of hidden story in papers, books, recordings and alternate events. Great layout for the video. Id love to see you hit that 15 min mark. Maybe throw some more speculation talk at the end and try to get the community involved in discussion down here. I think you hit the story telling explanation perfect. Keep up the good work man.
Oh i really like those tips. I'm still trying to nail down the video format with the footage and stuff. New one coming out Monday and should be an improvement on this one. Thank you for the support!
Great work. Shared the video on the Remnant fb group. Hope your get more viewers! Also, check out Chronos, a VR adventure game. Remnant is it's direct sequel. Would be amazing to see videos covering that game's lore and linking the two. Thanks for the amazing work, looking forward to more.
I didn't even realize they had a FB group. Thank you so much for sharing it, that is incredibly helpful to the channel. Chronos, I'll definitely have to look into that and see how they connect. That is an amazing idea.
fun fact, the hole that was made in clementine's test chambers have edges that now are glass. the same glass type material they used to make the mirror connecting Ward 13 and Ward 17. and also the same glass type material the crystals are made of. this game is facinating. i love it to death! the story is all over the place (literrally) and a lot of it is easy to miss, but it does connect very well if followed by people that can look at the big picture and see PAST even that! those who wrote the story of this game did an amazing job. it's hard to follow, yet so eye catching and interesting that you can't stop playing the game untill you have finnished the story as a whole!

before I actually got into playing remnant, I just thought the plot was “ancient mythical monsters returned to earth and kicked off the apocalypse”. I thought all the places you’d go Were just different parts of earth infested with monsters.
I strongly recommend you playing Chronos VR, this game actual prequel of Remnant From the Ashes. Chronos, also, very good souls like game without shooting mechanics.
What is the song exactly that is used in the beginning? I get that it is from Bensound and all, but he has made tons of music and the fact it's not clearly there makes it a somewhat daunting task to shift through them all to find the song
i make a joke with new players that the hole in the ground and wall on ward 13 was the terminator arriving, that was also the first thing i thought when i first saw it. but now i know the origins of it, never read the terminals before.
wow, that felt like I wasn't watching a video game! It actually felt like I was actually listening to a story and that was so powerful, it dragged me in, it made me feel and you know what? That is more than enough to earn by sub to your channel my man. I also see that you use Reddit, something that I wanted to do for my series of videos but have heard some stories about those that post and then get instantly banned so it has kinda put me off, do you have any tips for Reddit?
Holy cow, thank you much for you kind words. It means so much to me that you enjoyed it and that what I was trying to do came across. Honestly. thank you. Reddit is a complex beast I am still trying to master. My advice would be to find the appropriate subreddit for whatever you're content revolves around. I found a Remnant specific one where they allowed content to be posted. Also, always become part of the community. Don't just drop your link and run, engage and get to be known. It'll be much more rewarding and you'll get better results.

To be honest the root didn't feel as a big enough antagonist considering most of the enemies in the game ended up being the locals on other planets.

The gap between the artists vision and the writers effort is very very large in this game
