02:08 - Which artists and readings influenced you the most?
07:43 - How does your creative process begin?
09:58 - How did you learn how to find inspiration? And where do you look for inspiration?
11:21 - What do you do when you want to learn something new or improve in a field (art wise)?
    ART TIPS:
13:31 - What resources do you recommend to get better at inking?
15:05 - I'm a traditional artist but I want to learn how to use digital art as well, but I sometimes feel unsure of how to make the transition ? Or how to use digital art to enhance traditional art?
16:33 - What are your favorite brands for art supplies?
    THE question:
18:16 - What advice would you give to people that want to transition making art full time?

"Just start" is my motto for this year. Yesterday I drew something and was angry in between because it wasn’t „perfect“. I showed it to my husband and he loved it. You always make yourself worse because you know what it should actually look like. But others will always consider it beautiful and good. Lots of love to everyone 🧡

Thank you so much. I went through that too. You have to take baby steps. Today, whenever you find yourself scrolling on your phone or just binging tv, pick a memo pad and scribble. You don't have to do anything special or fancy. That moment has to be special, but not the drawing you do. Try and see how you feel. If you need any help with next steps I'll be here :) (I don't know if you already watched it but I have a video here where I teach you what to do to come back to drawing, and at the end of the video I give you an exercise a day for a week, try check those out) 🦇♥

I met Leonora Carrington in person in 2008 in Mexico City. I´ve got all her books, literature and art both. I love Remedios Varo too. Modern artists I can name Rebecca Guay, Julie Bell, Vespertiliu (of course), Orphneé Acheron, Terese Nielsen and Ayami Nakashima and male artists Egon Schiele, Frank Frazetta, H. R. Giger, Gustave Doré, Nino Salvadori, Van Gogh and Joaquin Sorolla. And recent artists I can name Seb McKinnon, Yoann Lossel and R. K. Post.

Thank you for this video! And I like how you note that being a full-time artist is a transition, whether you have published work or not. I myself have two published videogames in my experience despite not being a full-time artist, and working as a teacher at the moment, so I can relate a lot to that.
Nevertheless, I know this is just a part of my journey and it inspires me to do more things and keep on trying. Thank you so much! 🦇

I smiled so much when you mentioned Edward Gorey as well. I had the pleasure of visiting his home in Massachusetts which is turned into a museum. I got to walk around, see his work & living space. Even got to see his iconic fur coat and esoteric jewelry that was on display. I think you would love seeing all the Gashlycrumb Tinies gravestones under his magnolia tree! Thank you for your video.

I’ve been drawing and sketching since the 80s when I was a kid, when I first read a fighting fantasy gamebook. I’ve been hooked on pen and ink illustrations and anything, everything sci-fi / fantasy / horror ever since. The illustrator of those early fighting fantasy books was Russ Nicholson and, while I love many artist’s work, his work will always hold the special place of being my first inspiration to pick up a pen and draw. I’ve never made a cent drawing and I don’t think I will ever pursue it. Even if I was offered a job as a concept artist I don’t think I would take it. I draw because I love it, and I worry that if it became a job with deadlines and quotas, my passion would disappear. 😅

It's ok! If you think your artistic expression is at its best when in a safe private environment, then you have all the right to protect that relationship between you and your art. Anyway, if I was in your shoes I would probably take the chance, and che minute I notice it's not form I would go back to drawing for pleasure. But I personally would not discard that possibility without even trying :)

Thank you for sharing your story and your insights on things like inspiration. It often feels like people are searching for some magical fairy to catch, but sometimes it's as simple as surrounding yourself with what you love and drawing from your passions. It’s a straightforward yet complex concept; my room, adorned with skulls and splashes of green, could easily be mistaken for someone’s graveyard! 😄
Since you asked for topic suggestions, how about some tips on live drawing? I sometimes find live drawing to be rather dull and uninspiring. I try to challenge myself by focusing on different aspects, such as gestures, hands, or even attempting to draw faces. However, it often feels like I’m just copying what I see, which can be particularly uninspiring, especially if the model isn’t to my taste (which is usually the case). Despite this, I still attend these events and experiment with different techniques and approaches. Perhaps you have some tips or an interesting perspective on this matter?
P.S. putting sketchbook over Elvira's talents, lol, well played ;)

Hi! I should do a whole video on that topic, but a very simple tip that many seem to sleep on is to keep in mind were the light source is from and therefore put all the shadows in the opposite direction. Seems like the basic concept to shading but truth is many get lost in shading the shapes of the various elements in the artpiece and forget to make it functional to the light source. Hope this helps :)

So I was wondering, do you strictly do pen to paper, or do you also do illustrating in Photoshop? Also do you study any other outlets, such as photography, or writing? I also write, and I am currently working on a book, as well as study digital art, ( Blender as of right now ). What artists do you like? I like James O'Barr, Bernie Wrightson, and Tim Vigil. When I see your work, I personally see influences of Serena Valentino. She had a comic years ago called Gloom Cookie. I will leave it at that. I am very happy I found your channel.

Hi, in this video I talk about many of my favorite artists (maybe when you commented you still weren't there ahah). As for the rest, I practice writing with every new story I write, so yeah, in a way I'm studying writing :) Right now my art is strictly black and white ink on paper, since I found out it's the media I'm more comfortable with, but if you go on my instagram you'll also find digital pieces! I didn't know Serena Valentino, I'll check her out! Thank you so much for your support :)

    Cosa mi consigli?

    • @vespertiliu
      @vespertiliu  6 месяцев назад +1

Sai dove trovarmi :)
