    First off, THANK YOU!!!! Secondly, I wanted to just throw out there that if you're looking to replicate what the lighting would be, within a cockpit setting, you'll want to make the lighting sensor areas just focus on the bottom 10-20% of your screen height. Additionally, you'll want stay away from the middle 25% of the width of the viewing area. This way, your govees will only replicate what your car's interior is affected by (without your dashboard lights), instead of a bunch of external (to the cockpit) triggers. It's INSANELY immersive when driving at night, in a well-lit track (ie: Daytona or the like).

    You don't need Razer app, or Govee desktop. But of course you need the app on your phone to setup and turn of the govee lights.
    You just need simhub up to date. You can ignore installing any software on your computer except simhub and enable the plug-in. I have set my govee lights without any software on my computer except simhub. It works great

    I have the govee tv backlight with the camera. And I love it, it is very cool. It reacts to your monitors/ t v and projects the main colors to the Wall behind your monitor. It gives me a good sense of speed, but it doesn't really help me get faster, it's just cool. I would recommend it for single monitor set up though. I can't see how it would work with triple screens.

    • @salomaj
      @salomaj 9 месяцев назад +1

      Yep, I was going to go this route as I use the camera system on my TV. Govee actually came out with a "better" alt which is HDMI passthrough to avoid the camera and have more accuracy. Unfortunately they completely screwed up making the box only HDMI 2.0. Which sucks as you can't do 4k HDR @120hz, for example.

  • @tobiwankentobi1982

    I am using the camera based version of these lights. Might be a bit flimsier to adjust, but there's no background software or signal pass through needed with that.
    But I am surprised that your lights are so weak in brightness. I suggest setting the area of the monitors being used by the software according to the area were the windshield and door windows are rendered.
    My lights are quite a bit brighter because the camera based version sort of looks for areas with certain outstanding colours and brightness, so if the car windows are flooded with sunlight the govee lights are quite bright.
    All in all, yes, the Govee lights are a much better option for this type of ambilight than the Philips Hue stuff.

    For $159 USD for the Phillip hue play starter kit that comes with the hub there is NO comparison. You save a little money with the Govee, but the effects are not even close (yes I’ve had both). Also, that’s a pretty good placement of your lights, any lower you’d be dealing with the light reflection on your monitors. Great video none the less. 👍

    Hey guys, Just a word of warning. I have had Razer Synapse installed before and it can cause issues with controller software so if you notice you start having problems with pedals, wheels, joysticks etc it is probably the reason. I had it for a gamepad I was using and have since uninstalled. Thrustmaster Target software does not play nice with it for instance.

    As someone who has the Hue play at setup for my ambient lighting and has also used the Govee/SimHub configuration, the Govee system doesn’t even compare. It’s a fraction of the price because it’s a fraction of the quality. The Govee bars do a terrible job of adjusting to the lighting scenarios and are significantly dimmer than the Hue play bars. Where the play bars put off natural colored lighting the Govee system will put out colors (IE: using the road way to adjust for lighting the Hue shows natural warm and cool tones, the Govee will show blue). The Govee/SimHub route was an absolutely terrible experience in comparison to the Hue system. I had high hopes due to the ability to precisely pin point where on the screen you want the data to be pulled from. Which is why I wanted to try the Govee method in the first place. After tons of playing around with the system I was left completely underwhelmed and switched back to my Hue system.

    • @davecamm

      Check out Alex Kay video on the Hue lights. He gives an excellent example of how to easily and effectively set them up in software. I use 2 light bars and I was sort of along the same lines of thinking, they are a hassle. But this video is a good one to try. Also try not to run them at 100% brightness, it's WAY too much (in my setup anyway). I stick to more like 40-50% brightness in game.
