Same! Then the flood would be like there’s too many, too much chaos then they all go “hey! Why don’t we all just die because we’re bored and it’s chaotic here?”
The whole "you don't really die you just wake up at the start of the cycle" thing really makes you wonder how it looks like from an outside perspective. Because that is basically time travel, and if EVERY LIVING BEING is constantly travelling back in time, does a new timeline appear for each one? Like, if a slugcat eats a batfly, it just wakes up again in the previous cycle. But obviously the slugcat still ATE it, so you have a timeline where this batfly is alive, and one where it's slugcat food. Now multiply that by the TRILLIONS OF PROCESSING-STRATA-MICROBES CONSTANTLY DYING and you have yourself a hot mess of timelines!
Also, as we can see "THE WATCHER" title card shows rot and other shows of wear appearing at the end of the word, further supporting that The Watcher hit the Twin Towers. To be honest when I first listened and re-read the intro monolouge to the trailer, I thought they were trying to say that the campaign takes place so unbelievably into the future from the timeline (where Saints campaign ended) that realities and timelines started merging together causing all the weird regions where one place can be hot as hell and one place be essentially an ice age due to the amount of cycles that had passed.
i dont think its EVER implied that slugcats as a species were made by iterators, and in basegame, we don't have too much to show that Hunter was even 'made' by NSH, just being slightly modified in ways. And the cycle, that's evidently existed for WAY longer than the ancients, as in a specific pearl, it's told that there have been multiple civilizations before, and many more civilizations after that will rise, feel trapped within the cycle, and eventually go to the void. I doubt Watcher has existed for that much time if it's a slugcat.
Good theory on The Watcher. I have some things I personally noticed in the trailer. The floating “organs” are indeed just that. If you listen to the background music when the scene plays, you can hear a subtle beating heart. But that’s all I got for now.
The Rainy region showed first is stormy coast specifically room SK_A11 and the Blue chimney canopy room is coral caves. The rest are completely new. (The desert is only vaugely based on Badlands)
i honestly love the idea that unlike saint, who is bound to the endless cycle and never able to escape it, the watcher is free from it, able to wonder in and out of it as it pleases
i honestly think it's some sort of iterator-related voice, when you speed it up it has the same vocal effects as one. i think this mainly because certain bits of audio repeating (this is something that happens with all iterator dialogue both dlc and base game), it wouldn't make much sense for the ancients to have robotic voice qualities unless they turn out to modify themselves as much as the creatures they repurpose
Likewise, i wonder if the moving organic background parts are actually from the past, in a time when the facilities were still active and "alive". (-imagine we get to see an inhabitant haha-)
The moving background elements make me so happy because the Iterators, their creators, and their technology are all part biological and I always thought there wasn't enough body horror or eerie pulsing within (or outside of) their superstructures!

So many questionssss a
I don't like the assertion of "redeeming", it places weight on ascension that simply isn't there in the game. Failing to leave the cycle isn't a "sin," albeit the ancients saw it as a reprehensible outcome. The undergrowth echo in Saint's campaign also suggest that they've come to a new realization: that the cycle is not suffering, but rather meaning itself. Saint seems to know something none of the others know, about the nature of ascension, that we too have yet to fully grasp. In that sense, I think one possibility is that The Watcher IS Saint. He's become some unique variant of echo: a fully detached being that refused ascension while at the pearly gates, with some further mission within the cycle. We see Saint reform at the start of a new cycle at the end of his campaign, so it's not a very *likely* possibility-- but I think it is the most interesting one. The Watcher may show us something new entirely, about what ascension entails and the nature of the cycle. Another consideration... echoes "bind" themselves to the places that keep them, in turn, bound to reality. Much like ghosts, they are unable to move on and forced to settle into a limited existance. If the Watcher can move, but is an echo, what keeps him here? It's not some place, but perhaps some task? If completed, what becomes of the echo?
I think the watcher a universe jumper. Because not only are the regions rapidly different climate wise but ghosts are usually Yellow rather than blue and there isn't a pink atmosphere. I think the watcher is gonna pull some rick and morty shenanigans. Maybe we'll see different versions of moon and pebbles. Possible running into saint but fully echoified.
Ok, hear me out, total crackpot idea here. The tundra and the desert are the same area but at different points in time. The Watcher can visit both because they can cycletravel. Edit: you brought up that point too, punishment for not watching the full vid before commenting lmao
That makes sense because of the remarks about how a ripple will change when viewed from different angles- it’s both a desert and a tundra depending how you watch

Or super early in history, before the great iterator project; maybe Ancients are still around!? The purple sky might be a natural unpolluted world -- or well, perhaps fully polluted during the peak of Ancient industry, considering iterators drinking only water would be pretty clean for the upper atmosphere during the RW/DP timeline. Purpose of the structure would then just be any old comm tower, like we have today; and indeed there are towers you can climb that rise above the clouds, on a day with low enough clouds or fog that is. Such towers would easily be refitted for bulk iterator communication going into the global ascension era.
I think the cycles are realities and the watcher alternates between them, so much so that the pink region is similar to the sky islands, and the snow and desert regions seem to be opposite realities.
I have a similar theory that was put forward by the author. As for me, the storyline of the new cat will take place throughout the entire timeline of the planet. from the beginning even before the events of the master of the spear, across all other existing companies and after when the ice age came. that is, his line is the largest, because it is a whole dls with just one cat. everything is clear here
From the first time we heard about the Watcher I theorised that it would be like some observer of the world through time, exploring every period that we've seen the world in. It's cool to see that this trailer might be pointing towards that.
The area with the 'gloating organs' is very reminiscent of a lit up memory crypts to me. it has stacked boxes like cages and malformed organ-like organisms seeping out of them.

I always interpreted it that the voice reading out the text was that of an ancient. The monologue sounds a lot like the ancient’s old philosophy texts :3
I really like how the mounds actually curve smoothly and not just a blocky staircase with an overlay to hide the blockiness. So we have to wait 6 months... I'll try to not descent (or ascend) into insanity any further.
i think they modified the existing water code to make the sand dunes/snowdrifts, they seem to be water but super super slow and with actual collision (and possibly a randomization each cycle)
Can't wait. Also surprised you haven't gone over the 5 pebbles Pearls. Since he also reads them and gives different dialog showing you the contrast between his and moon's personality.
my theory ive had since the start is that the watcher is related to echoes somehow but rather than a time loop, the watcher can effect loops, i.e the desert and snow isnt different regions but instead the watcher has a direct effect on the world, allowing actions of the watcher to transfer between cycles. take the snow and desert, it could be possible for these two environments to coexist, just not at the same time. if the watcher altered the timeline or effected every following cycle, a desert could turn to ice or vice versa depending on actions. it'd be sick asf to have a slugcat where your actions in prior cycles influence every following cycle, or even have a time skip where every time the watcher is ending a cycle it skips tens or hundreds of cycles ahead. if the watcher slightly altered an iterator's weather, 100 or 1000 cycles later what was previously a desert could be a glacier oh also, on the echo thing. the watcher's invisibility could be linked to just phasing out from existance like an echo. echoes exist across time, yet we only encounter them at certain times. if the watcher is an echo, it could probably just turn invisible by not existing.
i think the spider crab thing is actually a reference when you turn on dev commentary tools you can see the devs talking about something in shaded they talk about wanting to add a giant spider that you cant see the full body and it would be a rare encounter in areas with death pits its long legs trying to pull you down it looks rlly cool tho
The narration at the start also reminds me of a echos ranting, going on about things that in most cases a small creature like slugcats wouldnt understand
My thoughts on the raindrops monologue that guy goes on: It sounds almost like the cycle have been going on so so long that they’re collapsing(?) into disrepair and the world around us is all messed up because the cycles are all combining into one thing/are getting destroyed and everything is being put into a smaller and smaller amount of cycles. I mean, everything gets destroyed eventually. The sun blows up, the moon would stop orbiting right after enough time, matter breaks down, after an indescribable amount of time the cycles should be able to too, right?
Me and my friends concluded that the Watcher would take place over the *entire* timeline, either by time travel or simply hibernating for long periods of time, hence "The Watcher"
The person who did the trunkworm post on tumblr is thundernova or Chaotic-minds-think-a like, they also did some world building for rain world like making the slug cats mollusks and making the beehive and spore puff one in the same with the puff being a fruiting body of the hive or sporecone. The trunk worms I mentioned are the carnivorous plants like worm grass, monster kelp, and pole plant, being large worms with the plant part being a long trunk with one eye (the pole plant has a underdeveloped eye while the worm grass has a more developed eye). The worms themselves has a lot of legs and have larvae.
@@cats-a-lot3609 yh but because you can see a drill on the crab thing so thats intresting also living organisms. The campain might around when the acients just found void fluid (seems unlikly but possible)
I think the watcher is the echo of one of the past slugcats we played as cuz maybe its like the ancients how some of em were torn into both life and death rather than a cycle of life and death
The blue chimney canopy area is the coral caves region mod(available in the workshop) and the rainy one is Stormy Coast (hunter/survivor/monk time) also on the Workshop
I had a sort of mini-idea for a time-travel slug cat, it onlt really went as far as the idea of a slug cat disconnected from time who appears during each of the other slug cats timelines and does something to assist them complete their goal. I think it would honestly be funny if the watcher turned out to be a time traveling slug cat, though that could also fit it's name The Watcher.
The monologue in start is definitely something an iterator would be saying, i think we will be seeing new iterators or the iterators we have yet to see (nsh, srs, grey wind and sliver of straw even though we kinda saw that one)
My brother brought up an interesting point about the voice I showed him the speed upped the video and he instantly recognized the sounding like an iterator's voice and made a theory that the weird voice is the possibly new iterator
OMFG not only am I violently convulsing with excitement, but it also comes out ON MY BIRTHDAY the only way to top this is if Silksong is announced... 🤣🤣 that'll never happen
Nightcat slug hype going up and skyrocketing! Seriously, Watcher seems it's going to be a really fun campaign. I wonder in which direction from Pebbles grounds we're going, or at least where within it it takes place. I have no clue by just watching the trailer.
You know Hylics and Rain World are actually a lot more similar than one would think. Like, Cycles are a big theme in both games. There’s also the moon characters in both as well.
this was my theory too, i thought we would se a time warp whenever we whent though a karma gate, and that we the watcher, meet sliver of straw, and tell her about the meaning of life, then she dies because it's to much to bear. but what do i know? most is just speculation.
What I noticed is what appears to be an increased tileset. Notice how Watcher moves smoothly along those slopes? That can't happen in the current game. Also, new iteration of the main theme.
My guess for the voice at the beginning is that it was either an echo or an iterator speaking. The manner of speaking + what is being talked about definitely leans more towards it being an echo but the 'voice' sounds like a very low pitched version of the sounds moon and pebbles make before you get the mark of communication. Hope we get to meet whoever it is in the campaign!

Hear me out, watcher is the echo of saint that gets seperated every time saint completes its loop
I always interpreted it that the voice reading out the text was that of an ancient. The monologue sounds a lot like the ancient’s old philosophy texts :3
Watcher Watching how we Watch it
I really like how the mounds actually curve smoothly and not just a blocky staircase with an overlay to hide the blockiness.
“But now the campaign will have too much content!”
“Lol” said videocult “lmao”
That hermit crab is sporting a fancy void-fluid drill.
my theory ive had since the start is that the watcher is related to echoes somehow but rather than a time loop, the watcher can effect loops, i.e the desert and snow isnt different regions but instead the watcher has a direct effect on the world, allowing actions of the watcher to transfer between cycles.
take the snow and desert, it could be possible for these two environments to coexist, just not at the same time.
if the watcher altered the timeline or effected every following cycle, a desert could turn to ice or vice versa depending on actions.
it'd be sick asf to have a slugcat where your actions in prior cycles influence every following cycle, or even have a time skip where every time the watcher is ending a cycle it skips tens or hundreds of cycles ahead. if the watcher slightly altered an iterator's weather, 100 or 1000 cycles later what was previously a desert could be a glacier
oh also, on the echo thing. the watcher's invisibility could be linked to just phasing out from existance like an echo.
echoes exist across time, yet we only encounter them at certain times. if the watcher is an echo, it could probably just turn invisible by not existing.
i think the spider crab thing is actually a reference
when you turn on dev commentary tools
you can see the devs talking about something
in shaded
they talk about wanting to add a giant spider that you cant see the full body
and it would be a rare encounter in areas with death pits its long legs trying to pull you down
it looks rlly cool tho
The narration at the start also reminds me of a echos ranting, going on about things that in most cases a small creature like slugcats wouldnt understand
THE WATCHER IS ECHO SAINT!! MARK MY WORDS!!!
you are so real for this
It could also be hunter or artificer's echo
My thoughts on the raindrops monologue that guy goes on:
It sounds almost like the cycle have been going on so so long that they’re collapsing(?) into disrepair and the world around us is all messed up because the cycles are all combining into one thing/are getting destroyed and everything is being put into a smaller and smaller amount of cycles.
I mean, everything gets destroyed eventually. The sun blows up, the moon would stop orbiting right after enough time, matter breaks down, after an indescribable amount of time the cycles should be able to too, right?
You are going to be ok. Some people (me included) are still waiting for silksong.
Me and my friends concluded that the Watcher would take place over the *entire* timeline, either by time travel or simply hibernating for long periods of time, hence "The Watcher"
Gosh I'm so glad someone else finally said the moving parts are reminiscent of Hylics
Hell yeah, my favorite Ripple user, Slugcar Joestar
Omg! the wacher, just a week away!
Can you belive it?
The wacher is just a week away!
... no, it's march 28th...
@@skeleton_master. The watcher dlc released like 2 years ago
makes sense for the timeline too, saint became an echo so now we play as that
May this shot in the arm finally get us new episodes of Iterator Logs, now when Daz has something to live for again.
holy shit that was fast okay daszombers
I love watching your channel and I can't wait to see your new theorys about this scug that watches
ARE WE GONNA SEE ACIENTS
I HOPE 🙏I LOVE THE ANCIENTS
@@cats-a-lot3609 yh but because you can see a drill on the crab thing so thats intresting also living organisms. The campain might around when the acients just found void fluid (seems unlikly but possible)
I think the watcher is the echo of one of the past slugcats we played as cuz maybe its like the ancients how some of em were torn into both life and death rather than a cycle of life and death
plot twist : watcher being an echo is a red hearing
The blue chimney canopy area is the coral caves region mod(available in the workshop) and the rainy one is Stormy Coast (hunter/survivor/monk time) also on the Workshop
SO THE SEPTEMBER NINTEENTH FROM THE WINDCHIME THING IS TO THE TEAILER!!!1!!1!1!
Idk why but i like to think the big ball things are spore balls
Does anyone else think the “blue chimney canopy room” looks like a dehydrated shoreline island?
Crackpot theory here: the watcher is either hunter or saint due to them being unable to aecend properly and becoming an echo
Hyping up my dogs a few minutes ago because they are the only ones in my family to share my utter excitement
Can't believe we're getting the watcher dlc before silksong
Imagine if it was like sonic cd, where you could choose to go to the past or the future. Rain world cd would be sick
Maybe the watcher is the saint after the ending and is now is experiencing everything from an outside perspective
I love the big ass dropwig thing
OMFG not only am I violently convulsing with excitement, but it also comes out ON MY BIRTHDAY the only way to top this is if Silksong is announced... 🤣🤣 that'll never happen
Nightcat slug hype going up and skyrocketing! Seriously, Watcher seems it's going to be a really fun campaign. I wonder in which direction from Pebbles grounds we're going, or at least where within it it takes place. I have no clue by just watching the trailer.
MR RAIN WORLD MADE A RAIN WORLD VIDEO LETS GO!!!!
I thought time travel too after seeing a room in the coral region that looks almost exactly like the top of the wall
1 MINUTE IN LETS GOOOOOOO
first time i'm so early to one of your vids!! love ur content :D
HYLICS MENTIONED
welcome back to relevance mr. zombes
hmmm i think the watcher is a slugcat
When I saw it had the release date I audibly said GUH!?
Looking forward to the lore videos already.
two rainworld dlcs before silksong is crazy 😭
LEEETS GOOOOOOOO, I NO LONGER HAVE TO STOP GAINING PTSD BY SILLY SCUGS!!!!!
I’m so incredibly hyped
THE RAINWORLDENING!!!
