wow out of so many videos for the p4 pro, this is one of the best,, and something 'eerie' about flying at night too. That must have been one hell of an amazing battery in there, at 29100 feet (5.5 miles) you still had 58% battery left, and on the return, 36% left at 3 miles out (return), and 17% left at 1 mile return, INCREDIBLE. You were very brave as this could have gone one of two ways, but you got that baby back in one piece. Well done. ANDY (UK)
Wow, that was an excellent flight. You have a nice drone. It was definitely risky business. Your drone has some good range, be careful of those steel structures or buildings interfering with line of sight signal.
Amazing how DJI drones have evolved since the first one came out, used to have a range of 300 meters max distance. We did the best shots at the very limit, always lost signal but it`d just RTH and get it back. Imagine now with these distances, limits are lost.
Rian thanks for the kudos. I thought about 4K, but the editor I used would’ve converted it back to 1080. I usually record in 4K but I wanted the focus on this flight to be on the telemetry showing the distance and battery life. Maybe I’ll try it again when wind conditions are right and I can round up all the spotters late night. 😅
Man great hair raising flight, but think I would have stop the Drone recording (to save power) on that first 25% power warning cause I’m chicken and paranoid as hell but I would have the screen recording
I've been trying to figure out, not sure... But it seems without recording it takes more battery power because the two red front strobes are on. I believe it's less power with those off and record on.
Lol I like the disclaimer of spotters along the route and below 400 ft:) it’s still illegal to fly at night and the pilot in command needs to maintain line of sight but ignoring that cool video man can’t believe the signal was so strong that far out.
Alex Rothbard Hey man. Thanks for viewing and commenting. But it’s NOT illegal to fly at night. Drone pilots who have a 107 license have night time restrictions but hobbyists don’t. A simple Google search will bring you up to speed on that. And you can see the telemetry showing 400 feet and below. And there were close friends with me. Disclaimer? Sure - because no matter what someone is always going to play drone police. I know what I did. My point is I at least took precautions, including the late night hour. Notice traffic is light in this metropolitan area. Again, thanks for at least taking time to comment.
Hmm you may be right on the night flying. Very weird lol the faa is so confusing I thought they came out with that regulation for safety reasons which I would think would apply to any pilots I’ll have to do more research on that one. And don’t get me wrong bro I’m not the drone police at all and don’t wanna come off like that the only reason I comment on the rules and regulations is because there is just a lot of heat in the drone hobby/craze now a days and in my experience in life things that are awesome like this usually get banned and regulated so fast because of course douch bags have to bitch and moan and complain and act like babies. I don’t smoke or vape anymore but I vaped for a long time and was just so disgusted with how much people bitch and whine about it, then before you know there are a bunch of disrespectful and misleading truth commercials coming out and excessive tax on vaping, etc. But sorry if I offended you I just don’t wanna see these things over regulated and/or banned which I’m scared of in this kindergarten country of ours.
You need more than 107 Licence. You need a Waiver and Aviation Night Lights in the drone. The FAA are very strict. This Flight broke all the USA FAA Laws. Better if you don't published in any Social Media. See FAA Part 107 (Commercial Licence) or Section 336 (Hobbie).. Stay Oriented my friend...
29109 ft. IMPRESSIVE!! What do I need to do or How can I get mine to get out that far? I’ve watched several videos still can’t get pass 5-6000 ft away without losing signal even in wide open areas.
Cyberking Sylve Thanks. Look into a booster for your controller. Price averages $350 installed. But worth the peace of mind for improved connectivity or normal flights in urban areas. This long range flight is not common.
Very beautifull video, I hope you have a FAA-107 part Licence and a Waiver for that if you are in USA. Your altitude is legal but you are out of sight. FAA are very strict. Be carefull... Best Wishes.... Read the Law, Take the exam FAA-107 and Obtain a Waiver...
He technically is line of sight cause there's a camera so he can see where it is and there's a tracker on there so you always know where it is. That law I know is for all flying vehicles but it's more for drones that don't have a camera and is a law that was just made for safety and less of regulation. It doesn't say anything about flying in the dark though. Even i do that a lot at night and in fact I can see my drone better cause of the lights so technically it's more safer flying at night then day, and planes have lights so it will be easier to see them and avoid them. Plus he is just doing that for fun he's not meaning any threats to the people and what could a drone possibly do. You can't spy with the thing cause the camera doesn't have zoom and no drone can carry a camera with that capabilities. Plus if you zoomed in it will be to blurry in order to spy. People don't own the air above there houses like some say 400 feet but that's only a law for small airplanes so they don't fly so low and make so much noise. You know in fact nor should the goverment even be owning the air cause its just plain space of nothing but air molecules. Its like me stating that america owns this section of the universe and the others own that section of the universe when space is just well....nothing... So what's the point of owning it if there's nothing to actually own. So If you feel scared about these things let me tell you almost 98% of all drone pilots only use the drone for filming or having fun and mean no threat. Edit: oh and why would a person buy a 15 hundred dollar flying machine just to simply spy.
Veøsity wrong. VLOS means Visual line of sight. You have to keep the drone in your sight not aided by anything other than your eyes. This goes for hobby and commercial part 107 drone pilots. Please do not spread misinformation. If you do not read the drone laws set by the FAA you could get jail time and up to a 250,000$ fine in the USA. Drone are not suppose to fly over 400 feet unless you are flying over a structure. Planes fly at 500 feet and helicopters are allowed to fly under that. You can not fly within 5miles of any airport, unless you contact ATC and ask for a waiver.
Philip, thanks for watching and commenting, but you may not have read that I had several spotters along this well known route. We were in constant communication and it's actually easier to see the quad at night because of the strobes. This flight was no less safe than the 4 flights you posted. I watched them.

Killer range and flight!
Mike Sarni THANKS 😝👍
Well done, mate ! beautiful night scenery. Try 4K resolution next time.

Pushed it to the limit. Very Good!
My drone phantom 4 signal problem 900metre after signal weak what problem any solution same your good signals?

The Mavic has zoom now! Just 5 months between this comment and that and it's out lmao

👍
Fuck too far man nice
What do you do for make this range ?
Cool video but definitely not safe to fly in the night and beyond line of sight.

Dee Trott That’s great that you had that but the FAA does prohibit flying at night without a waiver.
That's not true. It restricts night flights for 107 license holders. People who fly for hobby do not have the same restrictions.
Agree... Is not only have 107 licence... You need a Waiver and aviation night lights in the drone.
