Great review! I have a manual M2 Competition and use to own a 2018 LCI before that. Actually, your videos of the LCI was very inspiring for my purchase back then. Totally agree to all of your positive remarks of the Competition model. The only thing I really miss of the LCI is the sound of the exhaust. I have put an Akrapovic exhaust on which completely transform both the looks (ugly udder like thing) and the sound. Also coded away the fake cabin sound which is really annoying. Thanks for a great video!
I got mine in Hockenheim Silver with a sunroof, a manual transmission and orange stitching. Here in the states, they all have the big brakes and the powered seats. Its a fun car with the manual, though you can't turn off the rev matching without also disabling the traction control all the way.
Currently drive a BMW 2016 320i, my goal is in the next 7 years I hope I can afford a BMW M2 Comp it is my dream car and I would be extremely happy and it would be my daily car for a long time!
Just purchased a 2021 6sp M2C in Hockenheim Silver & it is exhilarating. Totally stoked! Additionally, I really enjoy your videos & demeanor. Thank you.
Nice video! I’m waiting like a child for Xmas till I get my brand new M2C, but the Corona virus got on the way. I spec mine of course with a manual gearbox, sunset orange, the competition wheels, comp seats with orange stitching and dark windows 😍 ahh a difficult one was the brakes, at the end I decided to take the big ones
Thank you so much for this review! It is always a pleasure to watch all your M2 OG video's over and over again. I am also glad to hear that you most probably are going to get the newer Competition version. I would do three updates on the Competition (in order of importance): 1) Paint the muffler black to make it less visible. I really dislike the fact that it is sticking out on the bottom so much. 2) Get the 736M wheels. Leighter than the standard Competition wheels. 3) Hmm exhaust is a difficult one, especially when it comes to the metallic sound of the S55 engine. Either M-Performance or Akrapovic. Regards from a Dutch guy living in Stockholm
I think an aftermarket exhaust solves both point 1 and 3. I assume you mean the 763M wheels? LOVE THOSE but it depends if I get a good deal of not. We'll see :)
Well done - a very good review! I have it in Hockenheim silver with the DCT and sunroof. This is all very subjective and I agree with some of the modifications already suggested in comments section but ultimately, it will pretty much come down to ‘how deep are your pockets’. Personally, my first modification was to get rid of that oversized rear muffler by replacing it with an Eisenmann slip-on system. This has addressed the aesthetics and acoustics. My next step is to replace all tyres with wider Michelin 4S - 285 at the rear and 255 at the front. Finally, a stage 1 tune giving it 500 hp and a set of aftermarket charge pipes to cope with the increased boost.
I definitely need the sunroof. I've had it on my old m2 and it's just a must have for the m2. It brings a lot of light in the cabin and it's just very nice to cruise with it open. As far as mods go, right after buying it I think I'll do the exhaust ASAP, for the same reasons you mentioned and then I'm going to code the fake sound off. I'll try and see if I can get a good deal of the m2cs wheels, who knows :)
N55 sounds better only in EU! Export S55 sound more raw. You forgot improved suspension and LSD, M1 and M2 settings plus optional 6 & 4 caliper brakes (now standard on M2CS).
Actually I didn't even notice that thing on my M2 LCI. But seating position in the Competition is still too high but I think the seats hug you better in place compared to the standard ones.
I remember you said the Civic Type R handled better than your OG M2. Do you think the competition has bridged the gap a little? I'm thinking about M2 Comp or FK8 as my next car. Please can you give me some advice. Currently own an 19 BRZ.
Please don't take advice from people on RUclips, especially when it's your money :) Please go out and drive both before making a decision. Buuut, the M2 Competition is spectacular. It really is. I was expecting it to be a bit better than my old car but it really is a big step forward. I think the only area where the Type R is superior would be the manual transmission, since the M2C uses the same manual as my old LCI.
@@TunedIntoCars Thanks for the reply! and you're so right only i can really decide :) Can you please tell me finally fuel costs between the two? I presume the Type R will be better..
Patrick Bateman From a C63S Coupe to Type R and now OG M2 I can tell you for handling overall its Type R and M2. Patrick Bateman I prefer M over AMG just based on my driving style and all the aftermarket support which is more favored towards M. My M2 has charge pipe issues which I upgraded and M cars with S55 might need Crank Hub upgraded. Also be careful with visible mods could void warranty and BMW sometimes won’t allow until you do upgrades until you fully payoff the car since technically it still belongs to them. Good luck on your decision
My dealer rep just told me today (after *I* reached out to *him*) that the M2C they already have my deposit on has somehow become "not available". I'm giving him a day to find me another one. This is brutal.

The M2CS is just a marketing exercise for BMW to make more money on the same car. Despite all that carbon, the M2CS is heavy as the M2C. Engine torque (550Nm) is the same in both, so just retune the M2C and you have the same power. M2CS has better tyres you can change on M2C anytime. The M2C loses climate air conditioning and armrest and the seats are just different but not lighter.
nes suno Yes for the price for CS you can make Comp just as good but warranty is what some still want especially for M cars so buying m performance parts is ok but not when you tinker with software and engine mods.
