Been here since the St, you were one of the reasons I bought my first St and now I am looking to upgrade to a BMW of some nature. Hope to see you at a car meet in the valley sometime.
I’ve put 40k mi on my ‘18 and still absolutely love driving it as much as the day I picked it up. In a city where every other car is a Tesla, the relative rarity of the M2 is something special. I swear, I’m starting to think they’re giving these model 3’s away at the DMV when you setup residency. Great vid!!!
I just love the look of those M2's. Flared rear fenders fairly aggressive front end. If i was lucky enough to own one. I would upgrade the exhaust. Great example you got sir.
I bought a BMW M2 in 2017 in the exact same color and, as a diehard manual fan, took a chance with the seven speed dual-clutch automatic. I never looked back! The automatic was actually quicker off the line than the manual - and, if needed, you could partially regain some of the control of the manual with the paddle shifters. The car was so beautiful that I often caught people taking pictures of it in parking lots! Sadly, when the Navy transferred me to Japan, I reluctantly sold my M2 at a substantial loss due to the steep depreciation endemic to most high performance vehicles. When I returned, I purchased a Tesla Model Y Performance with Full Self Driving (FSD). I love my Tesla having a full "tank" every morning, how FSD greatly reduces the workload on any drive, and the fact is is WAAAAY quicker than my M2. Still, at times I miss my M2. I only wish, like you, I had chosen to keep both!
Yea I have considered getting a DCT version just so my wife can drive it when I take the Tesla haha. That's cool you have a model Y performance now. Great car
Super video. Let's hope that you get the Performance exhaust. I would certainly like to see more videos of the BMW, it's a superb car. Not forgetting the Tesla of course!
I'm 100% agree with you and you're thinking of that car!! Simply great car!! I'm owning a 2017 loaded. Only 3500 miles on it. Bought it new. I do prefer the N55 engine than the S55 who has a metallic sound that i do not like. Nice video.
I have the same exact spec 2018 LCI! Also got the XPEL. Your videos were very helpful in checking out the car before I bought it & I went from a FiST to the M.
One of the best looking BMWs ever! The 1M, M2 and outgoing M3. Just perfection. Super aggressive! Ok the competition is a tiny bit better looking but that’s like saying keeley Hazel’s baps are better than Lucy Pinders!! (Brit babes Ben look em up) Both are perfection 👍🏼
Beautiful car. I just took possession of my first Tesla, 2022 MS long range, love it. But I have such mixed feelings giving up my 2008 BMW 650, it's been such a great car.
I have a separate RUclips channel for my Miata, and it took YEARS to get a few thousand subscribers. My Tesla channel took only a few months. So I understand the situation you're in about channel content and what gets views.
Always love checking back every now and then to see if you’ve posted any new M2 content. I have a 2018 M2 pretty much exactly like yours however with a sunroof. My question is.. Do you know if there’s an easy way to remove the warning notifications off the iDrive menu and also to the far right on the gauge cluster? They’re exclamation points inside a triangle.. for me one is a notification telling me to replace the key fob battery, the other is for a past due state inspection, however in GA we do not do state inspections (just emissions but that’s something different). I’m guessing the solution to the key fob one would be to just replace the battery however as of now it still works. Is there an easy way to get rid of those notifications or would I need to get an external tool like Carley or BimmerCode?
Those 763M wheels are pretty sick. Do they come stock on the M5CS? Either way, the stock M2 wheels look Great as is. My golf R was stolen and totaled and I need a new fun daily. No matter how much I search around, I keep on going back to the LCI OG M2. I can likely get one for about 35k with reasonably low miles. That's the price of a new Civic SI. Even though I don't like buying used, how could I not get this M2. I could tell this is a car I'll keep for many years! Enjoy it man!
M5 CS has different wheels. but yes this is the one to go with. 2018 was the best year for interior technology and the lights. N55 has the best exhaust note too. try and find one with the M performance exhaust
@@Gjeebs yeah... No reason to go for the comp, when the N55 does sound so much better then the s55... And is far more attainable in terms of price. Thanks for the advice 👍
Does the M2 weight savings over a BEV have a massive impact on the driving dynamics? Of course every new Tesla buyer raves about the instant torque being a game changer but I think for driving enthusiasts, the acceleration for weight trade off (of a BEV) doesn’t actually age well once you grow accustomed to the driving dynamics of both. I’m curious about your thoughts on perhaps the single biggest EV sports car weakness (until battery energy density takes a big leap).
The BEV’s just feel very numb and you can’t really find the limit. Like if I am driving on a canyon I will push harder in my M2 compared to my Tesla or any Tesla because it feels like once you start to slide in those there is no stopping it. They are better balanced and can’t roll but it still feels numb. If they can get them all under 4,000 pounds that would be amazing
Well said. I think it will be a while yet before we see driving dynamics and road feel approach that of ICE. I’m leaning toward an M2C but with inflated used car prices as they are, I’m thinking that holding out for a G87 in Q4 or 2023 Q1 might be the smarter play assuming ADM isn’t the new normal... Everyone I’ve heard from adores the F87 so really can’t step wrong. Thanks again for the great content and maybe I’ll see you on the road. Cheers from Scottsdale!
I actually bought a 2018 M2 back in May of 2020 because of your reviews, no regrets so far! Question on the Carly exhaust flap, will that effect the warranty?
I was so close to getting one of those when I sold my ST. However, I really needed an SUV when I moved to NC and I wanted to save my cash to try to get a new Nissan Z when it comes out. In a perfect world I would have a Model Y and a Blue, Modded Nissan Z.
I’m not sure how to compare the 2 but I’m huge M car fan and the M2 is probably the nicest balance of speed nimble and overall looks being that it’s not too big it’s just right. After the 0-60 time in the Tesla I struggle to see what is exciting about the car other than the technology if that’s your thing but if driving is your pleasure I’m not sure the emotion of the M is matched in any Tesla. I do like the the tech it’s pretty cool but I’d take the M2 over any EV car. Great review as always you’ve come along way from that focus ST.
Thanks for the review man that thing sounds amazing! I've thought of getting one but not a big fan of coupes. Sad to see the Tesla fanboys hating on this video... why click it if you hate BMW / gas cars so much? :D
Dang 20k miles already!? I remember you just scooping this up what feels like a few months ago. Never thought I’d consider a BMW but your videos on this thing have changed my mind, would love any M -series 6 speed now
@@Gjeebs I also have exactly the same trunk lip and body protection film as well. Mine is stage 2 with bigger intercooler and catless downpipe. Still not the fastest thing out there but it's fun to drive
Lets get to 1000 likes so I can make a vid with you and hear the M-perf exhaust, lol! I've got my 2016 M235i you can compare the non-lci (tech package) and awful fitment on the regular F22 chassis. Also thanks for the spoiler, good meeting you!
That's what I did and now around 400 WHP running E-30. To be competitive in todays world, need another 50 WHP on the long straights. My Focus RS can hang with most in the corners. However luxurywise it's no BMW
Also with regards to the M exhaust? Don’t do it! I got the sound deadening cut out from the 3 silencers on my M240i convertible. Night and day difference!! Cheap and shits all over the M exhaust. Trust me mate
I absolutely adored the M2 but after owning one for over a year there were so many things that turned me off on the N55 M2. First and Second gears felt great but any gear after those felt like a dog. The engine is absolutely dead below 3500 RPM. This car taught me that super low down torque was what I really desired. I know gas mileage and sports cars shouldn't really mix but Geezus Christ... 15 MPG is just atrocious. I really wish they would have just put a B58 inside the M2 body. That would have been my ideal car. 240i is nice but I prefer the widebody and bumpers off the M2.
Why would your channel crash…? Because no one drives sticks any more. Sadly. But it’s true. Just like many other aspects of life, young people cannot be bothered with learning. You are one of the reason why Rich Rebuilds started swapping gas and diesel engines into teslas, the next engine is a Cummins 4bt and it’s going to be lit 🔥 trust me
You truly have the best of both worlds. As a Tesla owner I still love hearing those exhaust notes on occasion. Keep sprinkling in that M2 content.
