    Have you experienced wet frizz? If you need a list of all the steps, check out the blog post here where I've summarized everything for you: genamarie.co/2022/10/how-to-tame-wet-frizz-updated-2022/

      Hi I have a question does wet frizzy also involve having frizzy hair after the hair has dried?And my curls aren't full of volume like you're ones, does that mean I have a different type or my hear isn't,,itself" because I have frizzy hair and the curls don't last long

  • @heymssmithers
    @heymssmithers Год назад +60

    The fact that you attributed coarser hair to the wet frizz makes so much sense. I have been struggling, but all the people I see without wet frizz have super fine hair. I have been contemplating trying brush styling, and I think this has convinced me that I need to.

    • @GenaMarie
      @GenaMarie  Год назад +11

      Yes, my coarse areas never want lay smoothly because they often have kinks in them (small bends where the hair shaft turns) which often causes tangles. Brush styling is the only thing that has been able to smooth them.

      @crimeslime5419 Год назад +3

      Yeah I agree with a lot of her hair methods bc my hair is also fairly malleable however that means it’s also suuuper prone to frizz. Brush styling has gotten me the best definition even when air drying. The thing that sucks is it’s kinda time consuming and gets confusing finding the curl/wave direction 😂 but practice make better! I found that I’ll try to define areas I know are wavier bc I wanna make the most out of them, and then I’ll also define the face framing waves otherwise those can look wonky.

      Don't mean to spoil the party ...I have very fine and thin hair and suffer the fate of wet frizz, too.. super wet hair and brushing makes a big difference along with the right products for me. Even though my hair is fine, all the lightweight products that are often recommended for fine hair make frizz worse in my experience.

      I think the most important reason is porosity. you have low porosity. this can happen. You must completely soak your head in warm water under the shower until it all aborbs (which can be minutes) before washing so it shampoo can penetrate properly to remove build up. And also use heat during the deep conditioning and leave in stage with something like a heat cap from Amazon

    this is my third week trying this, when i style my hair w a brush after gel, my hair lost a bit of volume :( anyway it’s really important that you follow most of the steps, this has been really helpful and i’m glad i found this video. i think it’s also important having a good hairdryer cause mine doesn’t have many speeds and even the lowest speed feels like it’s a lot so it makes my hair frizzy. aside from that i also agree that it won’t make your frizz disappear but it’s a lot less than usual and that makes me happy! thank you so much

    This is very interesting. I find because my hair has such low porosity and is very dense that styling outside the shower is difficult, I also style with leave in conditioner and gel instead of curl cream and gel. Very cool

    We have such similar hair! I know you have mentioned before you struggle with thinning ends when your hair is growing. Have you tried diffusing with cool air instead? I had pretty bad heat damaged and got it all cut off. I then made sure I used a high quality heat protectant and low heat while diffusing. Due to my hair already not being super thick I noticed even the low heat was causing weird shaped curls (I called them box curls) and C shaped curls at my ends. My ends also thinned out as it grew despite staying on top of my deep conditioning and bonding treatments. I then decided to stop all heat (yes this makes dry time so much longer but health>fast dry time) and noticed a MAJOR difference over time. I came to the conclusion that some hair textures just can’t tolerate heat, maybe once in a while but def not every wash day. I also usually wash once a week. Best decision I ever made for the health of my hair! I have no more box curls or c shaped curls and my ends are MUCH thicker then before despite the growth.

      For faster drying, use a cotton tshirt, no need for heat anymore. Worked so much better for me. Also trimming it helps dry time. I had to cut most of my hair significantly due to extreme heat damage and tangling but after that my porosity increased to medium from low.

    HI Gena can you do some videos on products specifically targeted at certain ingredients eg aloe free products, products without protein, products with a lot of protein etc etc etc. I think I'm having some issues with too much protein and my hair seems to hate aloe - it causes flash drying on my hair. Although I've watched most of your videos these products tend to be all mixed in with other things, whereas a protein free routine or a moisturising routine without aloe would be really useful. I have a hard time finding products for my hair issues, that don't make my eczema prone scalp go crazy with all the fragrance so many curly hair products are loaded with. Whilst I'm grateful that brands have started to make some products without a ton of fragrance, often they're too lightweight for my super dry/course textured menopausal hair. It's like trying to find a unicorn lol. Here in the UK we can't return opened products, so it's causing a load of products sitting there I can't use as they're really not working for me. I do buy trial/travel sizes where possible of new to me products, but not all brands offer these. Many thanks and best wishes.

    Great video! That’s amazing how defined your hair is! This is a good method for when you have a special occasion. Most of the time I prefer a little frizz bc it gives me volume and has that summery bohemian look, but unfortunately, many people look at curly hair as “unkempt.” I really want to try the Olaplex No. 9. Is it very strong? I have used the eVolvh serum and I have to say,it really smooths out my hair, but it’s very strong. My hair is fine textured, but I have a lot of it. If I then use a styling crème and gel, it’s too much. My hair has no curl, only waves.
