    My only concern with this test is that even the best inner barrel manufacturers dont always have consistent results with every barrel. It seems even the best after market barrel benefits from lappin/polishing. However the results are clear and obvious that Rhop is the best and that flathop is significantly better than stock.
    Thankyou @Anvil Airsoft TV for this test

    Thanks Tom for the care and professionalism with which you made this video!
    Finally, the real distances that can be reached by our AEGs can be established with certainty without estimating or approximating the distances!
    The comparison of the three systems (standard / flat / R-hop) and the optimal weight of the BBs used is also reflected in the table on our website in the "weight / power" guide section.
    In fact, a too small mass, in proportion to the power and the platform (AEG, GBB, VSR) is not able to accumulate a lot of energy, while an excessive weight of the BBs absorbs too much energy at the time of the hop. The correct and best performing weight is between the two extremes.
    Furthermore, the quality of the inner barrel also has a significant influence.
    look forward to the next videos!

    Really enjoyed this video. The message I took was that as you used better and better hop systems, you lost less energy to hop a given weight which meant the bb had more energy to reach further ranges.
    It'd be interesting to see the effect of purely the hop units by using a HPA system were for each hop system, you tune the FPS to be 1.30J +/- a few fps. I suspect in this case the range would be roughly the same and it would be the accuracy that differs.

    • @AnvilAirsoftTV
      @AnvilAirsoftTV  4 года назад +3

      That sounds about right. There’s no magic fairy dust involved. It also means you can use heavier BBs which can take more backspin. There was a little bit of joule creep with the .36g as well by the looks of it.

    • @psionic-upgradesofficial7932
      @psionic-upgradesofficial7932 4 года назад +1

      the range varies according to the power and weight of the BB but also according to the platform (AEG, GBB, HPA).
      with 1.30J of power you can easily reach 80-85 meters.
      in Italy the limit is 1J and on average we reach between 60 and 70 meters with 0.30gr based on the platform and the replica upgrades (air tight group, correct air flows, perfect synchrony, proportionate air volumes, inner barrel etc ..).
      the real advantage of higher power is that it allows you to use heavier BBs that greatly improve accuracy.
      in addition, the traditional system provides that with a single element, the bucking, you make both air tightness and rotate the BB.
      however this binds you to use "medium" materials that can perform both tasks simultaneously well but not very well.
      with the R-hop systems, on the other hand, you separate the air seal that makes the bucking which can be of a material designed to make air seal and the patch that gives rotation to the BB which is designed with materials that have particularly effective friction indexes.
      in this way the system is more efficient and allows you significantly higher performances even with the same power etc ..

    Great video and so far, proven my thoughts that for rhop over flat hop, you need to be using heavy bbs, if like me you dont want to go over. 28s due to costs etc, then flat hop seems to be just as good as rhop(4m less). Looking forward to seeing accuracy.

  • @peterpopel8586

    You said that the 0.32g BBs are faster than the 0.36g ones. But you have to consider something: When you chrono a BB, you only measure the speed it has when it leaves the barrel. Heavier BBs sustain their speed much better than lighter ones, so at a certain distance they will actually be faster again than lighter ones. Meaning that at long ranges, they might actually reach their target faster than the lighter ones. Would be interesting (but difficult) to measure.
    Heavier BBs are also less influenced by wind and obstacles like branches and leaves, which can also be a huge advantage.
    Also a question: Which kind of tensioners did you use? Tensioners have a huge impact on performance of the bucking. You can only really get everything out of a long hop up patch or a r-hop, if the tensioner has the same length and presses it down perfectly.

    • @AnvilAirsoftTV
      @AnvilAirsoftTV  4 года назад +1

      Hence the caption on that segment that says a lighter BB will be faster over shorter distances. There’s a whole video on the channel called time to target that covers just that using the Attacksense targets as we could measure the time from when the BB was fired to when it struck the target. .36g did get to the 50m target faster but was slower to the shorter targets.

      @@AnvilAirsoftTV Thanks for your fast response. I didn't know you already tested that, pretty cool!
      Something else to consider though: AEGs are limited by their cylinder volume. If the barrel is too long, it might accelerate lighter BBs to the end of the barrel, but heavier ones, as they take more time to take up the energy, might only get accelerated half way through the barrel before the air pressure from the cylinder is gone.
      What I want to say with this is: Your test is basically only applicable to your particular rifle setup (Spring, cylinder volume, barrel length and diameter). A rifle with the same barrel length as in the video but a bigger cylinder for example will very likely perform better with .40g or even heavier BBs. Of course the hop up also has a huge impact on range and accuracy (which is the topic of this video), but I think it is also important to mention the different other factors that come into play here, so people can better understand what relationship there is between certain components of their rifle and how changing one thing might affect the other.
      Don't get me wrong, I think it's awesome that you do tests like this to educate airsofters on certain topics, but I also think it is important to give them some theory behind this. If you already did a video on this, sorry, I am still new to the channel ^^
      It would also be interesting to do a test like this with a GBBR, as they function pretty different. While AEGs, like stated above, only have a limited supply of air pressure, a GBBR will continue to accelerate the BB until it leaves the barrel. Because of that, GBBRs perform very well with heavy BBs.
      I hope you perceive my comment as constructive criticism, as I really don't intend to bash your content or something like that. Sadly english isn't my mother tongue, so it often is hard to precisely say what I want to, without risking to come across as arrogant or like a know-it-all. So, keep up the good work and have a nice day!

    • @AnvilAirsoftTV
      @AnvilAirsoftTV  4 года назад

      Hey no worries. Thanks for commenting. I tend to try and only cover one aspect in a video to avoid confusing the general audience. My normal videos aren’t really intended or pitched for people with a more specialised knowledge such as yourself though I hope I make them entertaining enough for everyone to enjoy.
      It is indeed important for people to match cylinder volume to barrel volume. The ratio does differ depending on what weight ammo is going to be used and isn’t as critical as some people tend to think.
      I don’t have extensive experience with GBBRs, HPA, DMRs and spring snipers so I wouldn’t want to present a video without having the facts or footage to back up what I’m saying.
      We’re thinking about doing a livestream or long format video where we cover a lot of BB ballistic myths and facts so I’ll add what you’ve said to the list of things to discuss.
      Thanks for watching and look out for the next instalment in this series.

    • @peterpopel8586
      @peterpopel8586 4 года назад +1

      @@AnvilAirsoftTV It definately is a good idea to cover one topic at a time to not overwhelm people with information, but maybe a short intro in which you summarize the relationship between cylinder volume, spring power and barrel length and diameter of an AEG would have been a nice. Without really going into detail this could be done in just a few minutes. The important thing here is to get people to actually think about it, from there I think it is all pretty logical.
      But for sure a Livestream would of course be a better platform for discussing the whole topic more in depth and giving the viewers the possibility to directly ask questions. I am looking forward to it!
