Fantastic! I thought the r hop material had to be some sort of tubing, just didn't know what. Now I don't have to pay $15 for 3 tiny patches that I'll probably mess up trying to get right anyhow. Also a very clever way to size and cut the material.
when you say metal rod as close to 6mm as possible my mind immediately went to the back end of a 6mm drill bit... you can get cheap chinesium drillbits for like 1 dollar a piece, take off the cutting edges at the front end and use it instead. or use a 5.5mm drill bit and wrap painters tape around it once, then you can use a regular ballpoint pen to give a more fine/accurate line of the window.
I bought the tubing linked, and it’s WAY too thick. The inner diameter is too small, though the outer is pretty good. I’ve spent hours and hours sanding, I’ve tried a dozen times, and I cannot get it so the bb will roll through the barrel with bucking installed. If I’m doing something wrong, please help! But if not, I highly recommend finding a thinner tube.
Hello, I will ask about your barrel. Can you tell something about it? It is looking pretty good and it is cheap. Have you got any videos where you are using it?
BetPay I can vouch for ZCI and their barrels. They are better made than the Madbull ones (although both are good options), and are very durable. Lapping and R-hopping these ZCI barrels is no different than that of a Prometheus or PDI.
They seem to not have ANY barrels in stock anymore at the clandestineairsoft.com link you gave. Where can you get good cheap stainless steel barrels, do you know?
OR. You could cut a small piece of zip tie and place it under the hop up arm on top of the bucking. That way, the arm applies a flat even pressure on the bucking. This is basically the concept behind the maple leaf “i-key” and it works in my WE m&p. It shoots like 260fps w/ a .28g out past 150ft. Youre welcome
I would like to ask if someone can confirm which tubbing part on McMaster shop is required? 51135K171 ? Is that the most suited tubing? Also, don't know if McMaster ships overseas.
I have seen alot of r-hop videos comparing range and accuracy of the r-hop versus some standard hop unit and bucking. But I currently have a retro arms hop unit, with madbull 6.03 inner barrel and a prommy purple bucking and nub. Would I see any performance gain in range and accuracy with an r-hop or even flat hop compared to this set up, and if so why?
The reason would be is the patch would make more contact with the BB this would give it more spin and make it more consistent every time but it's easy to screw up.
Hey Brain I have a question, I tried to Flat Hop two guns and for the guns I'm using good barrels and hop ups and I'm using good .28 bbs, I did everything correct and I'm even using maple leaf flat hop nubs and correctly cut buckings of the same brand, instead of increasing my range, it doesn't do a single thing to the gun and when I try to turn the hop on all the way, it ends up blocking the BB's path and it doesn't let the bb go through, jamming the gun and not even letting me fire unless I decrease the hop. I'm doing everything exactly correct, but I haven't got any clue on why it's not working. Is there anything you or anybody else reading this can tell me to fix it?
Trouble Shooting.: Do you use silicon spray for the cleaning of the barrel or the magazins? Because this is a good way of killing any Hup Up effect ...
Don't turn hop all the way, it's too much pressure, flat hop is not a standard mod so different rules apply, flat hop is supposed to give you more backspin with less pressure, too much pressure will negate everything, You need to find a sweet spot
Most flat hop nubs are to big and they apply to much pressure. You can either shave the nub down til it shoots properly or you can shave down the 2 contact points on your hop arm. Flat hopping is usually never just a drop in and your all set setup. 95% of the time you will have to do modifications. Another option is search online for sorbo flat nubs. Very easy to put in and rarely have to be modified
AliasSLH You are so wrong. An R-hop and a flathop do have differences in terms of accuracy, precision, and effective range. You can expect to get shots more than 10 meters more than flathop users, and your R-hop, unkike a flathop, will last forever, whereas you will need to replace yours after maybe 100,000-200,000 shots.
Yes you still need the bucking it keeps the Rhop patch from falling out, adds thickness to the back of the barrel so it fits into the hopup unit properly and seals the air in for good compression, you do have to remove the nub that most buckings have but there is plenty of YT videos on that.
the square part that is removed is the hopup window. this patch is pressed in by the hopup to contact the bb creating backspin. The backspin uses the magnus effect to create lift and increase range. no window = no lift = very short range
It helps create better/longer contact between the patch and the BB giving it more spin and more consistent spin which leads to more range and more predictable flight path.
@@BrainExploder and then whats the next thing i will do ??..i wanna follow your work..i want to have an Rhop...they said it gonna give more range amd accuracy?? Is it real?
+BrainExploder You could modify the link in the description to this: www.mcmaster.com/#51135K171 it'd make it go to the exact product instead of people having to search through the list for the right number.
Too bad that the McMaster don't ship international orders because stupid reasons. Some of you nice US gentlemen/ladies should buy that silicon hose and put it to ebay. I would like to take 5ft of it and I can pay double of the original price. :)
AKARazorback Sugru-hop is an overhyped and lazy way to achieve half of the wonderous results and perks that you get from R-hopping. By sacrificing effort in Sugru-hopping over R-hopping, you will see that your range will not only never be as good as an R-hop, but will also get worse as time goes on. You will see that, and soon regret not installing an R-hop. S-hop is a gimmick.

I just ordered a pre cut rhop patch from ebay with a modify ryusoku flat hop bucking (hard type) and a flat hop nub. I know I'll have to shave the hop arm but I will post the results be it good or bad. Was very inexpensive to. Bucking and nub set was only 15 bucks and the pre cut patch was like 9 dollars with free shipping. And the have patches for all sorts of barrels. Prommy, madbull, matrix, edgi, pdi and zci
why didn't you just use a 6mm drill instead of that cleaning thing. 6mm drill fits just right inside the barrel and then make it.....!?!?!?!?!? almost everybody has a drills at home!!!
praticamente a creare un contatto più uniforme e consistente tra l hop up e il pallino, ergo a migliorare gittata e precisione di una replica da softair.
I dont really understand why you would use the metal rod and knife for cutting the length of the patch, that/those are the easy cuts, the hard cuts are the last ones.. Or just buy some r-hop patches..
Hey Brain, what do you think about flat hopping? I've been contemplating it for quite a while, but I was still not too sure if it's worth doing. I've heard of various methods of doing so for the nub, including homemade eraser nub, the Firefly Namazu nub, the Maple Leaf RTX concave nub, the Modify flat nub, and that's about it :P . I would not feel comfortable doing the mod with an eraser nub, since it requires you to sand off the nub holder on the hop up arm, and I don't think I could do that very well without a dremel. I also wouldn't really wanna go with the Firefly nub since it's $17 and out of stock in Amped Airsoft. I'd be down to go with any other nub mentioned above, if they were to yield good flat hopping results. I already have good air seal and a 6.03 inner barrel, do you think any of these pre made flat nubs would give better results than just a normal bucking and nub combo, such as the G&G Green bucking I currently have? Or should I just stick with regular bucking & nub combos?..If I were to flat hop, I would use a good bucking such as another G&G or Lonex 70d. Thanks for reading this and I'd appreciate any help or info.
+Sebashbag Miller I've done a few flathops using both the eraser method and the Amped Airsoft flat nub. It's a lot easier to get right but some hopup units, like my AUG, the arm comes loose during play negating the hop effect because with a flathop you are pulling/pushing on the bucking so much it's starting to push back. I have never done a proper reg vs flat vs Rhop comparison so it's all perceived results. If you are happy with your gun as is don't mess with it.
Oh and one more question..I have heard of people gluing their flat nubs to the arm's nub holder instead of sanding it so that the nub doesn't move..What do you think about this? Would that be a good option, or is the nub supposed to be able to move for balance distribution (or something like that lol)
when can we collaborate on a video at tac city fullerton i would love to bring my gopro and film with you of course you will have a copy of my footage get an angle you really see that much me filming you playing airsoft for a few rounds
Use a carbon arrow (cheap ones around $2) They have the perfect 6mm diameter
Where do you get one in Europe ?
Or you could use a metal straw or 6mm drill bit from your local hardware store
Im thinking to make a carbon barrel
nylon is a bit better than metal because you could scratch your barel with metal
Fantastic! I thought the r hop material had to be some sort of tubing, just didn't know what. Now I don't have to pay $15 for 3 tiny patches that I'll probably mess up trying to get right anyhow. Also a very clever way to size and cut the material.
Thank you so much, using your method my l96 shoots with much tighter groupings.
When the straw was spinning I couldn't stop laughing for some reason 😂
you could draw the patch from the end of the drill to skip carving out one side, also more accurate
Ok I have a ares striker I was wondering if I can just drop in a concave hop arm and a maple leaf bucking with out to much modifications?
love the intro

M4 rifle's rear/front receiver pin works better. The pin's diameter is about 6mm so it doesn't move at all.
Great video btw.
But I know everyone doesn't have m4 receiver pin. So everything that works is good :D
Very good method

of course the gun jams when you turn the hop on all the way.
that happens with ANY hopup

just a bit harder to get inside out, rest is the same as AEG

does it increases the precision?
yes

Yes you still need the bucking it keeps the Rhop patch from falling out, adds thickness to the back of the barrel so it fits into the hopup unit properly and seals the air in for good compression, you do have to remove the nub that most buckings have but there is plenty of YT videos on that.
BrainExploder thank you
Do you need these patches for a flat-hop set up?
no flat hop is completely different, flat hop just uses a special nub
bucking pls
You also have to mod the bucking, amped airsoft made a brilliant video on this
Shoving a metal rod up your barrel seems like a very very bad idea. I bought a silicone rod instead and even that has left an abrasive mark.
DID U CUT THE BARREL OR NOT?
make a full r hop tutorial
+Zack Nottke plenty out there already, I am no expert at it.
the inner diameter of that tubing is only 4.76 mm, is there a reason why it's not 6 or
davidtriune it will need to be sanded down too much
is the CZ p 09 still your main sidearm?
+alex miller yep that and the Asg STI 1911 depending on the gear.
nice. thanks for the reply.
Good
What nub should I use for r hop
You have to flat hop it.
Rick Rogers m nub
Why can't they just make a barrel without the square part removed?! Awesome video ty
the square part that is removed is the hopup window. this patch is pressed in by the hopup to contact the bb creating backspin. The backspin uses the magnus effect to create lift and increase range. no window = no lift = very short range
@@jacobstouth5085 I realized right after commenting and installing my own :P ty
this is some ninja sh**
Why would you use
3/16 ID vs 6mm ID?
If you find 6mm use that.
what actually is a R hop and what does it do?
It helps create better/longer contact between the patch and the BB giving it more spin and more consistent spin which leads to more range and more predictable flight path.
BrainExploder thx
R hop is just patching the whole of the inner barrel?? No curve or anything inside of it..help please...haha
It basically replaces the metal part that was cut out when the window in the barrel was made
@@BrainExploder and then whats the next thing i will do ??..i wanna follow your work..i want to have an Rhop...they said it gonna give more range amd accuracy?? Is it real?
You form it to the barrel by sanding it it will improve range and accuracy if done right.
