    I have bought and upgraded this gun with good results so I think I should share for anyone who wants to buy it. All this gun needs is a full sr25 cylinder for heavy bbs, an o-ring nozzle, a maple leaf bucking and a decent barrel preferably a shorter one than stock. Before the upgrades this gun was shooting 470 fps on .2s and 315 fps on .36s which means it was losing a significant amount of energy with the heavier bbs. Not exactly ideal for a DMR. After the upgrades while keeping the same spring fps on .2s increased to about 510 or more and to 380 fps on .36s. That meant I also had to downgrade the spring. Now I am getting better performance than stock on a weaker spring (SP130) :)

    This is a great video. nice to see as many variables controlled as possible. The shots you missed left and right were probably the wind. Only observation - not having a go...these shots are not flat and so in a wood land site would be very difficult to land shots. Every time you took a shot you would be looking for a tall slit in the foliage to account for the rise and then the fall of the BB. If the hop was set to flat you might loose 10 meters range but you would then only have to deal with holdover. A great video though and I look forward to more.

    • @AnvilAirsoftTV
      @AnvilAirsoftTV  3 года назад +2

      Thanks, there is generally a fair bit of gusty crosswind at the range though it was pretty light on that day.
      The camera height, holdover and distances shot in this video can give the appearance of overhop. I generally either set the hop for flat flight or with a small kick at end of flight. If people want to shoot/zero at shorter distances and not use holdover then that’s up to them. I’m a pretty good judge of range and I do very little extreme range firing when playing so it’s not an issue for me. I rarely shoot at anything over the effective range of my replicas anyway to minimise the amount of BBs that I’m lobbing at people :) and I like the challenge of running real capacity magazines these days.
      I’ll do a video soon on holdover, range and hop settings for different scenarios.
      By the way I liked your Cheat Calling video. A good visual guide to why what you think might be happening isn’t.

    Hmmmm... My Matrix SR25 with all of its upgrades, is now set for 1.85j tested on a .32g BB. I'm using a Prowin clone rotary style hop up, a S-Hopped, Lambda 6.01x407mm and a Modify black flat-hop bucking. I am regularly and effectively reaching out with the .32g BB to 75 meters. With a bit of extra hop I can get those same .32g BBs to land mid way up a 6ft tall fence some 89 meters away. I wouldn't call that effective range, but I can consistently do it.
    I need to test it with some .40g ammo. Hoping that will add a bit more accuracy to that flight.
    Thanks for an other great range test!

      @@AnvilAirsoftTV I have some .40g BBs, but not a lot and the cost is pretty prohibitive. I used my DMR today at a local field with the .32s. The gun ran amazingly and had some wonderful range. Once I got to a more center-left of the field I started to dominate a very large area and that allowed my team to move our flag up to the flag plant spot and keep it there. It felt very good to help my team that much and move the enemy much further back to stay out of my range, which means I was WAY out of their range. Effectively winning the field position game.

    Any idea what barrel length it currently has?
    I was trying to work out if the energy loss was because of the hop or undervolming.
    At what range did you find you had to start holding over the targets?
    Basically, where does your point blank range end?
    The spotter cam is helpful, but I would say only for long range (60m+) demonstrations, especially around BB flight/demonstrating spin decay, etc.
    The scope cam was alright, I can see it working best at assault ranges but it wouldn't have been worth anything without the attack sense targets.
    The over the shoulder cam was far better than I was expecting, that's definitely something I'd like to see again.
    All in all, nice work, it's great to see this kind of quality coming through.

    • @AnvilAirsoftTV
      @AnvilAirsoftTV  3 года назад +1

      It's now got a 450mm in it, but it came with a 550 stock. However CYMA have put a vented cylinder in it so it's probably still a bit under-volumed especially for the heavier ammo. I'm guessing that they've tuned it for somewhat lighter ammo than .40g for the general market. I'll switch the cylinder and possibly nozzle out as part of the next stages which will be to try and increase accuracy and constancy.
      Regarding ranges, It's zeroed for 60m, I have to hold under at 20-40m, hold on for 40-60m and hold over up to max range.
      We were also impressed with the Over Shoulder Cam footage and it's not too much hassle to do which is good when you have limited time to film. A big 200m lens and proper sensor is going to have a much better picture than a scope cam which have a fixed focus, I do have the option to go to 4K for more pixels if needed but that burns memory space and batteries! We'll switch to that instead of the spotter cam in the most part. The spotter cam will be useful for accuracy episodes and the scenarios you've outlined. Plus as a backup!

      @@AnvilAirsoftTV a ported cylinder on a v2.5?
      That's certainly a choice, something I want to do, but still weird.
      They're probably trying encouraging people to use 'heavyweight .25s' in their guns.
      That's not bad on the zero options, I need to sit down with my rifle and some paper targets to properly zero.
      The only change I'd make is trying a higher frame rate with the target cam, for BB weight/flight demonstrations, but that's extenuating circumstances.

    • @AnvilAirsoftTV

      Thanks BBs don’t fly that flat. It’s a very common misconception. Especially if you are trying to get them out to any sort of range and have a zero set there. I’m using some holdover to make the distance and also bear in mind the camera is mounted higher than the shooting position. All of which contributes to the appearance of over hop. When I set hop for a new BB weight I sight down the side of the replica against a dark background and increase hop until I get that very slight rise at the end of flight.

      Would depend on the site and fields of fire really. I’ve had this out to 75-80m down a track before for harassing fire. It’s most effective around 60-70m where people aren’t expecting you to be in range and able to hit them. I can track BB flight through the scope effectively as long as there is a decent contrast background.

    What kind of energy do you recon the bb's are still carrying at the extream ranges? Will it still give a fair slap, or will players likely not notice it in the heat of battle?

    • @AnvilAirsoftTV
      @AnvilAirsoftTV  3 года назад +2

      Jo (spotter) said that they were still coming in pretty fast when she was down at the end of the range. I couldn’t quantify energy though. She normally has to try quite hard to see and hear AEG BBs at end of flight so that’s encouraging. It probably depends on how much armour they have on and how aware they are. Partly why shooting at extreme range is normally a bit of a waste of time.

    I know this video is old but i had to point out the elephant in the room. You gun Needs! Proper shimming and maybe better motor alignment it sounds very screechy. If your going to build up an aeg then theres certain fundamentals that can greatly increase your overall performance. Lots think you have to spend a tone of money for improved performance but just some decent skills and a little bit of time and money you could have your toys performing beautifully. I have built toys with short barrels that are capable of out shooting most others dmr builds with just using my brain and some simple math.

    • @AnvilAirsoftTV

      As said in the video this is a progression from a previous review video using a stock gun from CYMA. It’s not intended as a ‘look at my amazing DMR that I built video’ the screechy nature is largely down to the mic but just like most stock guns could indeed do with a tune up. That wasn’t the point of this or the previous video.

    The reason why you're dropping power is your interview is under volumed. If you want Hot 4/8 you need a 363 mm inner barrel. I actually have one because I was trying to use 45s and I wanted a 390 mm in apparel but since I lack the tools to cut them without ruining it, I decided to get a 363 which can also hop 48's withoutbpower loss. I just don't want to use 48 because cost and avaliablolity. You jave ti find them. Because few comanies go beyond a .32. hpa is your best bet. They make some the heaviest ammo. Bls goes even heavier if you kkow where to look. But if course deathzone makes .68 ceramic and you better have 1 hell of a bolt action and have $200 because they are $3.33 a piece
