  • Disney's Star Wars has finally started to find some home-run swings with shows like Andor and The Mandalorian, but is the lore missing something extra? I think it might be, so in today's video I dive deep into what makes Starkiller an interesting character to be added into the Universe and how the new Darth Vader and Ahsoka series play into his role in the Universe. Would you like to see Starkiller added to the lineup? Let me know!

This is kinda what I want, too. I REALLY want to see him in live action as Vader's apprentice, but it would be hard to make that work nowadays because of Sam Witwer's age (unless they make him older in the canon universe when he is taken by Vader). But I don't want anyone else portraying him other than Witwer.
This is the best way to do it. And I do think there are a lot of cool things they could do with him in the Mandoverse time period. I would love to see his dynamic with Ahsoka and his struggle between dark and light. Could even toy around with the idea of him starting good and devolving further into darkness to help the First Order rise.
      So much story potential.

For me, Starkiller doesn't even have to be "ripping Star Destroyers out of the sky and kicking Vader's ass" level powerful. Make him as strong as like Ahsoka, Maul, or Count Dooku, with room to grow. That way Vader will still be a domineering and threatening presence, while still allowing for fun opportunities like Starkiller ragdolling Inquisitors. For me, all of that is secondary to just having Starkiller's amazing story being told.

The thing is, he didn't even "rip" a star destroyer out of the sky... it was already falling, and he guided it to crash a certain way. I think people saying it like that gives the illusion that he's far more powerful than he actually is.
I don't think his power level is that far above canon. Tone it down a bit with the repulse and force lightning, and he's fine.

But as a serious storytelling show I don't think that would work. But I am no screenwriter, so maybe a talented writer could actually make that work! If I was to write him, I would introduce him for example in 2nd season of Visions, to see if people are still interested in his story. Then he could have an appearance in 2nd season of Andor, a brief one. But I don't know if they would want to put him as a main character of a new show, if they are focusing on continuing existing stories for now only.

  • @Fluhhber
    @Fluhhber Год назад +1

Like a lot of people in the comments have pointed out, Starkiller doesn’t need to be as op as he is in the games to feel like Starkiller.
All that’s important is that he has a unique and strong connection with the force, and a very close yet very strained relationship with Vader in a way no one else in the Empire does, and it’ll feel like StarKiller.
Now, as to how to actually introduce Starkiller into Disney cannon, I don’t really think he works as just an inquisitor either. For one, Vader hated the inquisitors and saw them as a threat to his standing with Palpatine, so doing that would kind of strip away the opportunity to portray the dynamic between the two that I already said was vital to his character feeling right. What I would do is keep the whole backstory with Vader finding him on Kashiek after killing his father in front of him. Vader then trains him in secret until he’s old enough to join the inquisitors, and is tasked with destroying them from the inside slowly. This would actually work as a great explanation for what happened to the inquisitors between episodes 3 and 4.
Just think about it, a dark side focused show that’s centered around the inner politics and rocky relationships between the inquisitors (that we already saw established in Obi Wan) as they hunt down different Jedi. Throughout the show there’s one inquisitor that doesn’t talk and wears a mask (potentially designed to look similar to the mask Starkiller wears in the dark side ending as a reference) and in general seems to intentionally blend into the background and stay out of the conflict between the other Inquisitors, which isn’t hard to do since they’re all so focused on themselves and their own pursuits of power. Then, during one episode, after he and another inquisitor have wrapped up a mission together, it ends with him stabbing them through the back with his lightsaber. He then removes his mask and calls Vader to let him know that the job is done or something. So then the rest of the show u get this really interesting conflict where StarKiller has to continue to keep his connections to Vader and their plans a secret while trying to take out the others. Maybe the show is even a bait-n-switch where it’s marketed as this show about the inquisitors, but once Starkiller reveals himself the perspective switches and it turns out he’s actually the shows focus. Add some flashbacks showing his training with Vader and maybe even Proxy in between these high tension scenes of him trying to maintain his cover, and I think you’d have great Starkiller show that works well in Disney Cannon while still staying true to the character.
As for the “having a unique and strong connection to the force thing” thing i mentioned earlier, another idea I had was that maybe he’s some sort of reincarnation of the brother from the Mortis arch. Parallels between the sister and Ashoka were already drawn in TCW. And sense Galen and his relationship with Vader is something of a dark reflection of Ashoka and her relationship with Anakin, officially drawing those parallels between them all would make a lot of sense imo. They’re both characters that are meant to answer the question “What if Anakin Skywalker/Vader did get to raise a child.”
Plus it helps that Sam Witwer already plays the brother and Starkiller lol. Also Filoni clearly has big plans for the world between worlds and the associating lore with Mortis, soooo…just saying, the dots are there, Disney just needs to make Starkiller cannon so we can connect them.
Actually, If they make a second 2 of Ashoka I feel like this would be a great story for it. Also, doing any of this after the og trilogy just works better imo, as it could take place after the release of Starkiller’s own potential show so when he shows up in Ashoka S2 he’s already been established in the eyes of more casual fans who might not know who he is otherwise. Plus, that then opens the door for this really interesting dynamic between Ashoka and Starkiller, as it’s after Vaders death and could focus on how they both feel about that. Ashoka, who knew Vader when he was still Anakin and at his best, would probably have a more solemn view and miss her friend/kinda father kinda brother figure. Whereas Starkiller, who only knew the rage and coldness of Vader, is conflicted and suspicious about Vader’s redemption and feels upset that everyone just seems so willing to forget what all the awful shit Anakin did while he was Vader (imagine Kendal Roy from Succession s4. This is also a very similar dynamic to how Luke and Leia each feel about their father…so yeh more parallels lol). The two’s very different understanding of the same man would challenge the others, and ultimately force the other to come to terms with any feelings they still had on him that they hadn’t sorted through yet.
Star Wars has always been tightly woven around themes of parallels, and the relationship between parents and their children, and how they echo each other anyways. “It’s like poetry so that they rhyme. Every stanza kinda rhymes with the last one.”-George Lucas

Love this comment, and very much sums up everything I've been thinking in terms of how to bring him into canon.
Focusing on the Mandoverse timeline would be a great choice. I personally think it'd be awesome if they found him on Peridea as a sort of "guardian" of the Mortis temple Baylan was headed towards. It'd be cool to know who he is, but also for him to be shrouded in a bit of mystery as to how he ended up on Peridea, why, his connection to the Mortis gods (the Son, more specifically), his true intentions, etc. And I'd love to see the dynamic between him and Ahsoka for the reasons you mentioned. It's hard to ignore how well the parallels fit with the Mortis gods and Ahsoka, Anakin/Vader, and Starkiller. I'd love for them to make his inner torment and struggle against the darkness, as well as his relationship with Ahsoka, a focal point.
I have a lot of ideas for how they could make it work, and it wouldn't even feel forced. I think there's also an avenue where he could start out good and help them but eventually become fully corrupted by the dark side and help the First Order rise. Almost a reverse of his original story.
The one thing I think they'd need to leave out, though, is his relationship with Juno. I think it'd be cool to see that she moved on and went on to live her own life, and he is at peace with that when he eventually reunites with her. It would also allow more room to focus on his relationships and dynamics with other characters like Ahsoka and the ghost crew.

I just think it would be a great opportunity to bring him back in a video game and have him square off against his spiritual successor. Not to mention with Cal growing towards the darkside Starkiller would make a great parallel to him as he himself grew towards the light plus at the end of the game you could have them both square off against vader and it would probably result in one of the most cathartic moments in gaming.

I have been trying to get in touch with Gareth Edwards, Dave Filoni or Jon Favreau. My idea would be two Starkiller films. The 1st one would be a year after BBY so following the events of new hope. Starkiller has been in hiding ever since the force unleashed and tried to put everything behind him and spend his life with Juno. So at this point Starkiller is about 23-24 now that would make Luke about 21-22. Now Vader and Sidious are enraged with the destruction of the death star and Sidious makes it known that he is not pleased with Vader. As they both sense a very powerful force sensitive in the galaxy. Orders from Sidious are to have Vader tear the galaxy apart and find the one solely responsible that lead the rebel alliance to steal the plans of the death star and destroy it... Starkiller.
As Starkiller takes refuge on Haruun Kal an empire fleet lands on the planet to wresk havoc in attempts to locate Starkiller and any other remaining Jedi. The whereabouts of Kelleran Beq and Grogu have been discovered. As the empire begins to attack the korunnai people. Starkiller has a moment of ptsd and hesitates to engage in the fight. But once he sees the korunnai people along with Beq and Grogu are in real danger. Starkiller emerges and fights the empire retreat and word gets back to Vader that they have locate Starkiller.
I also have incorporated in the story that I have been working on that Mace Windu makes his return and Obi-Wan's force ghost tells him that he needs to train Starkiller in Vapaad. As well as the death of Juno that will push Starkiller's true balance of the force to the brink. Vader captures Grogu and will freeze the youngling in cabornite and look to create more clones. We will see Vader who is fully enraged use his red lightning technique. Ahoska will also join the fight along with a fan favorite Quinlan Vos.
Then in the 2nd film following the events of Empire Strikes Back Starkiller looks to take the fight to Vader and Sidious. While Windu is training Starkiller along with Luke who only has one hand at this point. Starkiller and Luke engage each other in a duel ignited by jealousy and envy Luke was able to defeat Starkiller with one hand thus demonstrating how powerful Luke really is leading up to the final showdown with his father in Return of the jedi. Mace Windu and Vader will also finally meet in a duel to the death as Vader comes out victorious. Then in a last stand moment Starkiller will finally reach his full potential as he takes on both Vader and Sidious in a Jedi vs two sith lords duel for the ages. Starkiller manages to take one of Sidious's legs which is why in Return he is moving rather slowly. As Starkiller attempts to give Sidious the final blow Vader then catches Starkiller's lightsaber and strikes Starkiller down.
These are just some of the major plot points but yeah that would be my idea.

I think that Disney would make something good with Starkiller if it werent for the fact that they want to make the force female, Kathleen Kennedy and Dave Feloni only want to focus on female based characters, he could be a villain or do a cameo but he wont be a central character with them incharge.

Look I dislike what Ms. Kennedy has done to the franchise just as much as the next person but I don’t think they’ve tried to “make the force female.” - they’ve just dropped the ball overall with the force users in this galaxy and we do need a different person at the helm moving forward. Has nothing to do with “the force being female” and everything to do with simple incompetency
