    Thank you for explaing this. What percentage of essential oil should be used in cold process soap. Do the percentages change depending on whether their base notes, top notes or mid notes? Thank you.

      As a guide you can use a max 3 % of the weight of your oils but % of each is very much personal preference and trial and error for each. For example peppermint is very strong so I would only use a small amount in a blend but lavender is good used in larger amounts depending on what you mix it with. Or even on its own. There are no rules as such.

      How interesting to get this video.
      Had one question though do the floral EO accelerate the trace ?
      Also do you think there could be some things that can help the EO fragrances stick longer like clays and cedarwood EO which helps in holding the other EO s

    Castor oil "for internal use" is not only cold pressed but further treated with steam, in order to destroy the last traces of the extreme dangerous poison ricine.

    What about adding kaolin clay to anchor fragrance in soap? Have heard a bit about it.

      Yes that is a theory and I have tried it and think there may be something in it but I have found the choice of EOs has a bigger impact 🙂.

    Not 50% top note, 30% middle note, 20% base note?

      @thesoapcoach.  7 месяцев назад +1

      You could get away with that using some top notes such as peppermint but the vast majority especially citrus wouldn't work well.

      Hi Sharon. I have a coconut oil recipe here thesoapcoach.co.uk/blogs/on-my-soap-box/how-to-make-a-simple-soap?_pos=1&_sid=5d7ad7899&_ss=r I can't help on a 1 to 1 basis but I do have a video on You Tube teachjng how to use the soap calculator. Have a look at that as it is not as complicated as it first looks and knowing how to use it is really helpful.

    What if fragrance oils used instead of essential oils? I mean the same fragrances.

      It depends on the usage rates of the individual FO. You can find that info on the IFRA sheet that should be available from your supplier.
