    I love using EOs in general and in soap but watching you has expanded and opened my mind so I’ve ordered some FO from reputable suppliers here in Australia with good info about acceleration, discolouration, usage rates etc IFRA and are phlalate free, and gives me the confidence to use them in my next batch of soap. I forgot to use one in my last batch as i was concentrating so hard on my colours duh😢. Thanks for all the straight up no-nonsense education

    It's good to hear that Scout is recovering well. Surgeries and broken bones, whew! Hopefully mom and dad are hanging in there through this as well. I really needed this video. For some reason, the chemistry angle you share is always calming to me. I have no idea why, but thank you. And thank you for that gorgeous soap! BTW, you were my travel partner today. I listened while waiting for a bus at the El, then watched while riding the bus!

    Sort of related, but there’s the thought of FOs bad, EOs good. Whatever. Anyway, when I explain to people why I got into this because of allergies everyone always goes straight to the “chemicals.” Well, no, actually. He can use soap with FOs. What he CAN’T use are nut and coconut oil. And the shocked look on everyone’s faces after I say that….it’s like I just turned their world upside down.
    Glad Scout is doing great! And that soap is gorgeous! Such a simple color palette but it works fantastic!

    What a beautiful bar of soap.. ❤ I have only used Essential oils and have to mention that I have yet to have citris EOs scent last in soap.. so frustrating as they are my favourites. Saying that i wanted to ask about FO's... how safe are they really? Thanks for sharing your knowledge as alway. HUGS ❤.

    THIS! A very interesting proper science angle on the soap-making process with nuance and careful wording. I'm not a science person but I think you explain these things really well for the non-scientists among us, while still addressing us as intelligent human beings. More of this type of thing would be very welcome. I also love the episodes where you test a range of fragrances from a particular supplier, but mainly because the soap designs you use are so appealing. THANKS!!!

    Thank you for all of your videos. I love how you give the chemical info as well as providing recipes. I feel this helps us to become better soapers as we understand why the recipes and combos work. I am glad Scout is doing well and tell her hello. I think your children are adorable! I personally like to only use essential oils in HP soap or leave on products so they don't loose any of the benefits. However, George from dawn Organics says that if we use just 1% Cedarwood Atlas in the blends, this will help to anchor the scents of essential oils. I have not personally tried this yet, but I will be. I will let you know how it works.

    Love how you talk science to me ;D And that you called that a skyrim helmet. Thanks for explaining a lot of really interesting unsaponifiables that are suspended in our finished soap. I was just thinking the other day on proteins, and if ... while not saponified, if they become denatured due to the heat of a cpop/gel phase. I remember being told that our enzymes and proteins can denature in the low to mid 100sF... and yet our gel phase is AT LEAST 130 to 160. Would you be able to weigh in on something like this? I know this is just as much biology as it is chemistry I was just curious. Not for the sake of the allergen thing, but moreso for like... curiosity. =D

    I love essential oils however have found them a bit of a mission to use in soaps. I also think this could be due to various quality of said essentials oils I have used. Even thou it says pure...as I've learnt doesnt mean quality. 🧐🧐 Weirdly enough I did make a small batch of soap with essential oils and one of my daughters found it irritating and the other who was suffering with dermatitis had her problem clear up.

    • @MrsSoapAndClay
      @MrsSoapAndClay  Год назад +1

      Yeah the biggest problem I’ve found with essential oils is that because there is no real regulation, there’s no standard of consistency and purity to trust. That can be problematic when building a line for customers, as well as for potency and sensitivity issues!

    • @jobo8819
      @jobo8819 Год назад

    I’ve looked on your channel and went through your videos I was wondering if you could make a video in detail on infused oils . I didn’t see one . I know they have a light scent to them and I know they don’t usually last through saponification but I was trying for a alternative to EO (I watched that video as well ) . I don’t wanna use fragrance oils either
    So I wanted to experiment and see
    I did catch your tip about using clay to anchor fragrance in soap . Thank you. Love your channel ❤

    Up front, I'm an essential oil chick. So, even though soap is a wash-off product why would you want to use synthetic FO, which have been shown to cause hormonal issues, for anything? BTW, love you and your YT's! Big fan! I've learned a lot from you, than you.

    • @MrsSoapAndClay

      Fragrance oils writ large have been given an unearned reputation because of a few bad apples, unfortunately. Today with the quality control and the IFRA, we have access to carefully formulated fragrances, many of which use essential oils as their base, and have been vigorously safety tested to conform to IFRA guidelines. I’ll address this deeper in tomorrow’s video!

      @@MrsSoapAndClay I agree, I initially was only a EO soaper, but had no luck with the fragrance surviving either with or without gel, with or without CPOP, so was just wasting money putting them in, and having soap that had minimal fragrance, have now gone to mainly using FO, sticking to IFRA recommended amounts I have not had any issues holding fragrances

    Hi, do essential oils react differently with soap ingredients. How do I learn that? Do u have a text book which I can read first.
