I didn't seriously think about trying it for a long time. Katie inspired the art side. I used someone else's recipe for a repurposed oil soap. I actually found someone using bacon grease they saved and another using used frying oil. It fits my philosophy of not wasting things better. After 3 trial batches to just try making something useful, I made a 4th "pretty" batch.

It’s thanks to watching you make cold process soap over and over again in your videos that made me surprisingly comfortable with the process when I got in to making our own soap last summer. We have a little homestead and we raise our own pork. I found out that lard makes a very nourishing gentle soap so I found a recipe and got started. I along with my children have kind of sensitive skin so I decided to go with “all natural” fragrance oils since it’s cheaper than essential oils.

!!!!! Thank you for the essential oil calculator tutorial!! Hey Katie, I already made just a few batches of soap after watching all of your instructional videos multiple times and being a fan of your channel for a couple of years now. And I'm so excited about this video now, because I have tried using fragrance oils and they worked great so far. No allergies, no bag reactions whatsoever and they smell great! But I'm just a bit on the fence, about using FO vs. EO, so now I'm excited about trying out essential oils, and seeing whether that's an option for me.
Thanks for everything! Also: just commenting to push the algorithm to do is thing. :) Your channel, and this series deserves it!

I think a very useful thing would be to list out EOs that are generally less expensive so I can see what I can work with in terms of blends. Some of the blends have like 5 EOs and I am not going to do that! Thank you so much Katie :D

I've been wanting to make soap for a few years now but I always hesitated because initially you need to get a lot of tools (spatula, containers, blender, etc.). If you realize that you don't like making soap that much, you'll be left with all of the equipment. But now I saw that the local based online store, where I buy my oils and butters for skincare from, have soap courses. That way I don't have to do all of the research on my own and I can decide afterwards, whether I want to continue doing it.

Can you mix natural pigments with the synthetic colourants? Love this bar!

I would love to see a melt and pour tutorial! I plan on growing my own loofa this year and once they are dried and ready I want to cut them and put the slices into melt and pour for gifts 😊

I thought it had to be a specific type of metal spoon. I may be wrong but I thought either you or another soap maker had mentioned it. Love your videos!!
