So, I went out today amd bought ally supplies to make some soap! I'm super excited to begin! I love that you post such easy to follow DIY's. Thank you so much!
I am making soap, hand salve and lip balm for Christmas this year too! I live those molds! I am using a loaf silicone mild and cutting them into small squares. Each person will get a small block of 2 different kinds of soap. One rosemary and one bergamot. I am using a combo of goats milk and Shea butter, and add 5 capsules of Vitamin E for a 2 LB/ 4 Cup/32 OZ batch and add 10 Drops of essential oils per OZ of soap. So my batch I add around 320 drops. I package with either scrapbooking paper or paper from paper bags for a natural look. I just got creative with the pa aging. For the lip balm and hand salve I use a simple recipe of olive oil, vegetable oil, vitamin E, beeswax and essential oil. This recipe was found on you tube through the Bee whisperer.
Hi, this is probably a dumb question but is there a way that instead of making into soap, is there a way to make it more so into a body wash type? Thanks for sharing with us!!
Great question! I don’t think this recipe would be good as a liquid but there are many options for making liquid body wash. Doing a web search for DIY body wash recipes with Castile soap and essential oils for some ideas!
I used 90 drops of essential oils in my 2lb/4 cup/ 32 Oz soap and it hardly had an aroma and when I looked up how many essential oil (EO’s) drops to use per ounce it called for 10 D per Oz of product or carrier oil so now I use 320 D for my batch ( 10 X 32) . If making a 1 lb batch, 160 drops of EO is used.
Thanks for the great vlog! Question: do you have designated measuring cups and spoons for soap making or do you just wash them and still use them for other things?
Hi! I don’t have designated soap making utensils. Since it is soap it just rinses right off and is clean. The only designated container I have is an old jar for melting beeswax.
Do you ever use Carrier oils like Jojoba/vitamin E/Almond in your soaps? I read on a soap blog that added oils compromise lather, cause separation, and prevent the soap from fully hardening. As just wondering. Thank you 🙏🏼
Those are super cute. I’m just starting to make my very first batch of melt and pour soap. I’m just curious as to how much you sell a bar of soap that size? Being a beginner, I have no idea. 🤷🏻♀️ Thank you. 🙏🏼
Have fun making these! I don’t sell any of the products I make. I use them for my family and for gifts so I’m not sure about pricing. Hope you love these!
@@rigelsmith Thanks very much. I’m racking my brain on which ones to get. I’m literally just starting out. I used your recipe and the little pink molds, and made my first 20 bars. I’m going to take them to a baby shower on Saturday to see if they sell. I don’t want to invest in any expensive labels right now just starting out, so I’m going to try the Avery to begin with. Thanks again..
I haven’t sold these but you may not even need a traditional label. Do a google search for “soap packaging ideas” to see some cute designs using stuff you may already have.
I’m using colloidal oatmeal and it’s sitting on top rather powdery and clumpy even though I am stirring it in for quite some time. What am I doing wrong or is that ok?
Ive seen a lot of videos of people showing which botanicals mold inside soap and which ones not to use. Lavender was on that list and they proved that lavender molds quickly in soap. Have you had this issue yourself with using lavender inside soap?
Doesnt the oats get messy having chunkes of oats in their :p I like the idea but i want to make this for preseants and people like my parents wouldnt like bits of oats coming of or floating in the bath

I have not. I’ve only used this recipe but that sounds lovely! So many good soap recipes out there to try.

Your soaps were just the cutest. 🙂
@@60andstled yay! So glad you liked them!
I don't have a microwave can I use a double boiler?
That should work!
Love this! Is this a body soap?
Yes, this can be used like any other soap. I wouldn’t use it on my face, though.
@@rigelsmith thank you ❤️
Do you just use regular Avery labels for your soaps?
I haven’t used any labels on soaps but Avery labels would work. They make so many different styles and sizes.

Should be ok! Sounds like it will just have a little more exfoliation on one side.
@@rigelsmith 🙏🏼 I pray so.

Excellent! Specially because you used doterra essential oils
This looks so fun! I will definitely have to try it. Thank you for all your amazing DIY recipes.

Lavanda in soap get mold.
Ive seen a lot of videos of people showing which botanicals mold inside soap and which ones not to use. Lavender was on that list and they proved that lavender molds quickly in soap. Have you had this issue yourself with using lavender inside soap?
Hi! I haven’t experienced my dried lavender molding but I also use the soaps quickly. I don’t think I’ve had one longer than a month.
Doesnt the oats get messy having chunkes of oats in their :p

I haven’t noticed any mess. You are welcome to omit the oatmeal and dried lavender if you prefer.
This was the best! Thank you for sharing!
Glad you enjoyed it!
