Elly dear, what do the different numbers mean on GW soy wax? I can find 416 but not 415. Appreciate your explanation. Thanks 🙏🏻
I am just now noticing that you change the wax I’m gonna go through with the original one you suggested. However I’m wondering why you changed?
Thank's i will try it soon ! :)

Greetings from Maryland (USA). I don't know that I would ever make my own soap but found you to be quite delightful, easy to watch and interesting. At age 58, I'm new to the wet shaving/safety razor world and still trying to figure out the pucks, loading a brush and the best razor blades. The only thing I can say for sure is that it gets a little easier each day.
You have the best videos !
Glad you like them!

I am not interested in doing a lot of soapmaking but I am struggling to find decent reasonably priced shaving soap so I will probably make this. Thank you for posting this video. Your explanation was very clear. Exactly what I was looking for.

Hi Ellie! You are such a good teacher. Thank you. Will try this recipe tomorrow. I believe I have all the ingredients. Xoxo
Oh that's great Dari! Just make sure you check the recipe as I've just updated it to indicate two better types of soy wax to use.
Thanks for sharing will try this.
Welcome back ♥️♥️♥️
Thanks Lola, great to be here!
Just made this tonight with orange & lemon!!! Very excited to try it out when it's finished curing! Thanks for all the amazing recipes!
Ooh fantastic!
Hi Elly, I have just made your shaving soap and it was so easy thank you very much. It was a first for me using soy wax and bentonite clay. I was going to use the stick blender as it was taking a few minutes to come to trace but just as well I didn't, wow just got there in time. I think it was because I used ice for my water. Thoughly enjoyed making it. Once again thank you very much.
Thank you 😊 looks beautiful!
Thanks Monica!

Which IS a degreasing earth 15g To make a dishwashing solid soap. If you want to try. I made it only Yesterday so I will have to wait. Thanks again😊🌞🌴🌺

Been enjoying yours videos! Your fragrance blending and soap calculating videos really helped me to understand what had been a huge mystery to me! Thank you for that!
Was so happy to see you had a video for shave soap as I've been wanting to make some. I like the size of yours and was wondering the diameter of your molds? My niece makes pottery bowls and I think that size would be perfect!
Looking forward to viewing more!

I actually have stearic that is derived from beef. I am doing too okay around and see what I can come up with as I don't like soy. Takes all kinds 😊 Thank you for the inspiration!

Hi Elly, good seeing you. Good one 👍
Thanks!
Thanks!
Thank you!!
Awesome thanks
Welcome 😊
A good tip that I learned from a soap maker us use ice. It helps cool the lye and helps with the fumes too
Yes, but with a recipe like this you don't want your lye solution too cool! I normally use ice :)
Nice to see you
💙I was looking for a shaving soap recipe with just sodium hydroxide
Excellent! Good timing then :)

Wow!! Amazing lather!! I always add some soy wax to my soaps for the sake of hardness :-) thanks for sharing such valuable information!! Hugs and kisses from

That's great Ramiro, thanks!
Hi Elly great video , love how you always explain in detail . have you ever tried making with silk
No I've never used silk in my recipes.
I can't wait to try this recipe!!! Thanks for sharing!!! The shaving soap I once made just kind of fell flat, really disappointed. How much menthol and pineapple fragrance oil would you recommend for a batch? Or, would you not even recommend those?
I'm hana from malaysia.....Alwyes watch ur video....n follow the resepi....tq elly
Hi Elly you are such a great teacher and make soap making easy fun and exciting, I love watching your videos. I definitely want to try and make this shaving soap. Just wondering what you would use in sopacalc as a substitution for soy wax as it is not listed.
Hello, love this recipe, cant wait to try it. 2 questions. Are you concerned about mold and 2- What about any other clays, rhassoul, gray etc.? Oh forgot, is the processing time the same for soap? 2-4 weeks before use. Thanks again.
GREAT VIDEO MAM WELCOME BACK WAITING FOR MORE VIDEOS MAM
Great video as usual Elly. Really nice lather especially in that short amount of time after making it. Love it. Also giggled at election signs haha. 😂😂😂🙏🙏🙏
Haha thanks George. I didn't steal any election signs to make this video (I actually bought the stuff from bunnings!) but thought that would be a good way to explain it. Thanks for commenting, glad you liked it though I'm keen to try your recipe too once I use up my candle wax! Might make some more candles this winter :)
🤸♀🤸♂yay 😀now to convince my husband to try this
Thank you, Elly, for your organized thoughtful teaching. It is lovely to hear an Aussie too. I have been wanting to make soap for at least 40 years and your video gave me the confidence. I made this yesterday and didn't have a spritzer bottle to spray and as a result I got soda ash. I can see it has soda ash on top and it is speckled down the debth of it ...about 1 cm. Is that ok to use? Does it just reduce the quality somehow?
Awesome! I use the same moulds for my shave bars and combine lavender and TeaTree and use Shea Butter for the Stearic acid boost! Might trial adding Cedar. Do you use Cedarwood Atlas oil when you say ' Cedar'? And so good more people make this than getting the store bought stuff in plastics or the spray cans!
Hi Delizia, yes, absolutely!! Your bar sounds really nice too. I would like to try other recipes but still have my giant bucket of soy wax to use up haha :) The cedar EO I've got is Virginian.
This looks amazing. I will have to get some soy wax and try this recipe. Thank you! 😊🧼👍🏼
Thanks Garrett! I've just updated the recipe with the two best types of soy wax to use so make sure you check that out :)
@@EllysEverydaySoapMaking , thanks, I will! 😊
Hi Elly, thanks for your amazing videos. I just made this and about a week later it seems a bit lye heavy still when I test the pH. Can I recook this as a hot batch soap? I am not sure what I did wrong, as I very precisely followed your excellent instructions, but it did seem to take a long time to trace then went thick quickly - perhaps the essential oils? It did transform like normal soaps then just took ages .. I am concerned that it solidified simply because it got cool enough to because of the soy wax...
Hi Elly! Seen your video after soo long… I wanted to make shaving soap and got the perfect recipe…. Firstly I thought how to make soap with soy wax? Secondly when it done I was rubbing it on my hand and it’s not lathering at all 🤭 I thought all my hard work gone waste.. But! After that I use my husband’s shaving brush and after rubbing it sometimes it’s started lathering… and after that I was like …. ‘YES! Elly I did it’ 🥰🥰🥰
Thanks for the recipe 😘😘😘
Lots of love from India 🇮🇳
Excellent Snehal!!
Hi Elly good recipe thanks, can we use this recipe for bath soap also.
Hi, yes you could, but it's really a specialty soap made for shaving.
Hi Elly thank you so much for sharing your knowledge!! Love your videos. Just a question if I don't have alcohol is witch hazel OK to spray on the top?
I wouldn't waste my nice witch hazel on it! I don't know if it would work that well either, but you could try.
Missed you and your content
Thank you Billy, it's great to be back.
Hi Elly thank you very much for your kindness and sharing your knowledge...I was just wondering if your could help make my shaving soap softer..
Thank you
Hi Elly, thanks for sharing this recipe. I was plan to make this today and just realized I bought Kaolin clay instead of Bentonite. Will it work for this or do I need to get Bentonite? Thanks!
Hi Ella,
I tried this recipe.
Unfortunately,I didn’t have Bentonite clay, I used Kaolin clay. It came really nice. Thank you so much. With love, Ashika.
That's great Ashika, Kaolin clay would be lovely :)
Looks luxurious Elly, Thanks so much for sharing. Is it possible to switch the soy wax & replace with bees wax?? I have a heap of bees wax to use up….
Hi Charmain, no unfortunately you couldn't do that swap - beeswax is entirely different to hydrogenated soy oil/wax.
Hi Elly, thank you for sharing this recipe. I made some for my husband and the foam is amazing! Would this be a good recipe for face soap too? (I'm hoping I can use it too.)
You can, but I prefer a simple castile (all olive oil soap) for face washing. Check out my playlists, there are a lot of simple recipes there :)
Hi Elly , what a beautiful soap! Which Cedarwood Oil do you use?
The one I have is Virginian Cedarwood, but I've heard Atlas Cedarwood is excellent too.
Hi Elly, so nice to see another of your video ! I was wondering if i could mould this shaving soap directly into a "shaving bowl" or the bowl that is going to be use for shaving soap🤔 i know it would require more than one bowl but.. just an idea
Ditto this, but because I've saved up several bowls.
Yes, definitely!! Why didn't I think of that?!!?? Great idea, love it.
Hi Elly,
Which coconut oil did you use? Was it the solid melted or the liquid? Would it matter which type you used?Sorry for the silly questions, thank you for your video, cant wait to try this
Hi Elly, could you please share the details for your scales (big and small). I have some scales but after using them for a year I feel they aren't the best and I always struggle measuring my EO. This recipe looks so good too! I've made shaving soap before but not with soy wax, so excited to try this one. Thanks, Sam.
Thanks Sam! My big scale is a Salter brand, which is quite accurate and I love it for bread making as well www.woolworths.com.au/shop/productdetails/1073789410/salter-leaf-electronic-kitchen-scale-5kg-black
My little scale is just a cheap 'gram scale' from ebay. You just want one that can measure as low as a tenth of a gram (or less). I find the small scale great for weighing tiny amounts of things accurately.
Hello Elly! I love following all of your videos and found this just as I was deciding that I needed to make a shave soap! A couple of questions though... I do not have cocoa butter; would it be okay to substitute shea butter? I also do not have bentonite clay but do have kaolin clay. Could I substitute that? I am trying to work with what I have. Thank you!
Yes, definitely! Those subs would be great :)
Thanks for sharing this recipe, I definitely miss you.😙😙can I use kaolin clay instead?
Thanks Tricia :) Yes, Kaolin clay would be nice.
Hi Elly, can I use this soap for bathing?,thanks
Thanks for the video. Apart from hard/soft water, what is the most prominent feature/ingredient/process to ensure a residual slickness? Many shaving soaps will leave you with a moist but 'sticky' skin, one can basically pass a razor over your skin once or twice, but once the lather is removed by the blade, that's it. Then there are others where I can do stroke after stroke (up to 10 strokes with a straight razor) and the slippery sensation simply remains. The soaps in the latter category also takes quite some time to rinse from your brush.
I think that commercially made shaving soaps have more residual slick to them, whereas this performs more like a normal soap and washes off quite readily. To be honest, I have not used this soap a lot myself - mainly made for friends and regular face shaving folk!
Hi Elly, good to see you .Your video is superb and very easy to make .can I use Stearic acid instead of soya wax since I don't have . thankyou from India Kolkata 😘
Hi Chandra, yes you can however you'd need to calculate a new recipe to use stearic acid.
Nice video Elly ,which other wax can we substitute for the soy wax please ?
Thanks Vivian, I'm not sure to be honest! I've only ever used the soy wax. There may be other options available but you'd probably have to calculate a new recipe.
Great detail Elly, thanks so much from Ireland. Would it be possible please to get the percentages of ingredients as I only wznt to try z cmzll batch?
Wonderful seeing you again Elly. Simply a great video. Once I get some wax, I'm making it! God bless. Belinda, Georgia, USA
That's awesome Belinda, have fun!
Hy. I love your videos..there is always something new to learn. Thank you for sharing this recipe...would it also work with standard soy wax whitch i get from my supplyer for cosmetic ingredients (it does not have the numbers in it's name)? And can i do it with heat transfer method? Thank you 👋👋👋
I'm not sure, you'd have to check what's in the wax. No, heat transfer will not melt the wax unfortunately.
Hello ma'am,
Thank you so much for the wonderful video ❤️❤️. Can I use soy wax in my regular cp soaps? If yes, what's the maximum percentage that you recommend?
Thank you. Yes you can, but I would keep it to around 10-20% - really depends on what you're aiming for! This video would help a lot I think ruclips.net/video/V-uDPifp3n0/видео.html
Hi u are just amazing in everything u do
I made cold process olive oil soap 3 weeks ago but after I notice like white dust or powder covering the soap
What do you think this things coming from where thanks 🙏
Thank you, you're very kind! That sounds like soda ash to me - this page explains www.ellyseveryday.com/soap-making-terms
I razor blade shave every day or rarely every other day. Yes a good lather is important but, even more important is the glide, and the most important is that the soap will not dry your skin even a little! Are there any men reading this that have used this soap that could assure me this is a great shaving soap?thank you for sharing a very nice video! I subscribed and liked.
Thanks Michael. Great point you make. Personally, for shaving my legs I love a simple castile soap (the most gentle), but this soap is very gentle too and all the men I know who use it (at least 4 individuals over a number of years) say it's great to use and glides well.
hi elly , loved your video , what are the percentages that you used for this recipe ? and what did you put as soy wax in soapcal ? (cant find it)
Hi Jose, you can work out the percentages by dividing each part by the total and multiplying the result by 100. Soap calc is hydrogenated soy oil in soap calc :)
Hi Elly, your shaving soap looks beautiful! To make this (and I want to) I will have to buy some soy wax and bentonite clay as I only have kaolin clay. I have everything else, even the moulds! Great video thanks. 🐾🥰
Thanks Marion - there are other shaving soap recipes out there you could try that don't use the soy wax, but it really does have a great lather so is worth a try if you think you'll have a use for it. It's just perfect for these moulds :)
@@EllysEverydaySoapMaking the lather in yours🧡 is what sold me Elly but I will check some other recipes for interest. xx
Hey Ellie! A quick question. Can i replace soy wax with Beeswax.. Since i generally have that in store.
