I think these guys can hang up this tune. DT fans are pretty diverse and happy to hear other tracks. I'm not even knocking LaBrie on this. That section of the song "Watch the sparrow falling..." part is hard to impossible for most singers. They could try dropping it a step. Might still sound good and then he won't have to blow his azz out trying to hit those notes.
A lot of the character of his voice is the high notes and wide vibrato. As a singer myself, I know what you mean, he's pitchy, surging in many ways. So many bands drop a step nowadays, it loses the vibe somewhat. Perhaps it's time for him to give up but he was for sure one of the best about around images and words era.

I know James has been a great and iconic singer for the band and he sound great on DT albums, but for live performances this is embarrassing, especially singing for a band so virtuous and so perfectionist. Maybe if James were replaced for another singer at least for concerts, it would be more enjoyable. I know his voice is really iconic, but around the world i'm sure that there is a voice that deserves its place.
Father time affects everyone, I don't know how he tries to sing and his effort is noticeable. But he makes up for it with Rudess, Myung, Petrucci and Mangini.

Disagree, it’s still good enough. I saw Dickinson and Tate recently, and James is as good if not better. So, who really cares.

He sings fine, just not as well as he used to be able to. He sounds much better in a lower register
