Edge banding is even more important with wood chip boards, because the edges are very ugly compared to plywood.

For some reason I always gouge the plywood when I use my trimmer. Maybe it's the tool I have. I'm going to try the one you linked. Fastcap has good stuff
Maybe try the fastcap tool, or maybe sharper blades? Also the sanding really helps. Another tip is to run the hot iron at an angle down the edges, it will crease the edges in preparation for the trimming.

For example, If you are going to build an entertainment center, do you cut every piece of plywood and finish the edges at that time or do you do it after everything has been installed?
I finish the pieces before I build because it is too hard to trim edges after the project is assembled

Thank you for your offer of help! Unfortunately there’s not much you can do with Facebook, we have filed reports and are awaiting responses. What does help is subscribing to our newsletter, so if/when social channels fail, we have a means of distributing new content out.

I am trying to find a way to message you, but alas I am old and can’t make connections. 🤣 I think your Facebook page may have been compromised. There is someone posting weird content and it’s nothing to do with diy building. The latest one is a lady with a slug or something hanging off her nose. There was something earlier today, but I didn’t look close enough. Not sure if you will get this quickly enough, but wanted to try and help.

Used edge banding for years & never bothered with an iron. I use the adhesive backed and it holds up fine when applied properly. Just buy a quality product.
