I finally get to drive the Porsche 911 (922) Carrera S and I want to tell you a secret about it...

Secret = it's very existence is attributed to the invention and creation of the boxter, cayman, macan and cayenne - hence in order to show your 911 appreciation you must own other higher selling products from Stuttgart! 😁

The trunk will release with a wave of your hand below the emblem crest, no need to open door as long as the key fob is in your pocket. Surprised more reviewers don’t demonstrate this cool feature.

You can open the frunk by moving your hand directly from the middle of the hood past the emblem to the front of the car. It will pop open.

Umm...no...different engine placement within a similar chassis. Cayman has the theoretically better engine placement. But, German engineers, supporting by marketing and profit dollars, will ensure the 911 will always be king.

Are you sure about the hood? In my cayman I can gentle touch my hand to just below the badge and it opens the hood to access the frunk...

There's no wrong gearbox on a 911. Both are fantastic
Slick production and good commentary. The analogue component of the driving experience stops with the placing of your hands on the wheel, and contact patches of your feet on the (only 2!) pedals. everything else is digital including the cabin experience. Yes, it's a masterpiece of automotive engineering and design. Yes, it has astonishing performance. But the pilot is very much a spectator wowed by what the car manufacturer has achieved. Tipping the scales at over 1500kg it's certainly no lightweight, although in the modern era that's actually an exceptional achievement. And legendary Porsche quality - that's a given.
It'd be a fantastic daily driver, but for that weekend fang I'd be going back to a 996/7 Carrera 2 manual - S or non-S it wouldn't matter because it's all about the sensations not the stopwatch....

I think the secret no one’s really talking about, is that they’re just not worth the money anymore. So many other great options out there, for significantly less money.

The GT3 is not faster than the CS. The GT3 makes beautiful music with its naturally aspirated engine and handles even better but not being turbocharged it doesn’t accelerate as ferociously as the twin turbo CS.
The GT3 is not out yet, so let's wait and see if it's faster or not.
And will pay $100K over what the GT3 costs. GTS is where the smart money goes. End of story.
Just so you know, the 911 991.2 GT3 is nothing compared to what’s available

Well, no, fact is Porsche actually came right out and told us they were building SUVs in order to keep building sports cars. The Boxster being a sports car did nothing to achieve this much needed diversification. How do I know for sure? By being a PCA Region President at the time. Oh well, only 8800 subs. Time enough before you get popular to learn about fact-checking. Please do get on it though, okay?
It's quite true actually and the number of subs has no relevance. It's quite easy to research this, it's a well known fact by now...

The phrase "well known fact" is every bit as defensive as it sounds, drawing attention to the fact that if the fact really was true you would merely state as I did with a reason. SUVs sell in much steadier volume reducing the financial risk of being a sports car only company. The Boxster being open top is even more a sports car and so is incapable of making any difference. "Well known" is not a reason. Maybe you should stick to Corvettes or Tesla or something. Anything but Porsche.
'maybe you should stick to X,y,z' is every bit as defensive as it sounds. Nobody said the Boxster sold in volumes but it did sell well and it allowed Porsche to continue and start developing these SUVs that made the company profitable in the end.
It's one of the easiest pieces of research you can do to confirm what I told you. Porsche official websites can help you do that

Imagine how good it would be if they ditched the rear seats and moved the engine further forward. Porsche must under engineer the Cayman. So it doesn't embarrass the 911.
The cayman GTS is faster than a base 911 with a PDK. The manual, is just as fast!

You can disagree with an opinion but you can't really disagree with a fact. And the fact is that those three cars have saved Porsche.
This new 992 Carrera S engine does not sound no where as good as the Gen1 Cayman GT4 engine
Well yeah. The GT4 has a naturally aspirated engine. It's very difficult to compete with that
Despite its advances launch control , still won’t beat in qtr mile a Raven Model S and barely beats a Model 3 DMP. That’s sad for the $$ they ask for the 992.
Because I don't want to go into a 'why do we need to compare a petrol engine two door sports car with an electric sedan' debate, I'll just say this: if all you care about is acceleration then the 992 Carrera S is definitely not the car you want. It's just not made for that.
