Once you get to the $100,000 mark there’s a lot of sports cars you can get that are out of this world. In this video I’ll explain why the 992 Porsche 911 Carrera should be on the top of that list!

I’ve owned Huracan, Viper, GT3, 718, GT350, C8, C7 and on and on… the best car for the money with no question is the 911. They are the best cars on earth.
Thank you for the insight. I’m addicted to them myself lol
Very similar! I’ve owned c7z06, GT350 (still have), 718 GTS, and 992s. I’d have to agree…. Exhaust goes to gt350 though. And the 718 feels a bit more “sporty” due to the smaller size , smaller cabin, and mid engine. All great so I couldn’t get myself to get rid of them lol. 992 is overall the best tho !
I’d love a GT350 I almost bought one but got a C5 because I wanted a cheap track car I don’t need a loan or insurance on.
@@amac8487the 718 would have been a keeper if I had known about the numeric shift box. I would have bought it and kept. I just couldn’t stand getting into my 718 after banging gears in the GT3. It ruined the whole Manual experience of the 718. I think I had both of them for a year before I swapped it for a new Range Rover 😅
@@LowBoostFilmsthey’re SO much fun! Torque is always right there. The transmission is solid and the SOUND!!! They are still holding strong in the 50k range but tbh that’s not too bad for a track car of that level.
I’ve had my 997.2 generation 911 for 10 years. Nothing ever breaks on it, and it holds its value like crazy. Once you go 911 you wouldn’t want anything else.
I agree!
Thank you for making this film. The base Carrera gets overlooked way too much. I've been daily driving my base Carrera for the past 7 years and I've never thought, "I wish this car had more power." Porsche makes these cars perfect from the factory.
Yea, a 911 is a 911 is a 911!
agree. Too many people think that more horsepower, more tech, larger rotors will make them better drivers. No of those things matter unless you're tracking the car.
Its really really hard to justify a 911 over a C8 as a fun weekend car. As a daily driver yes I can see that. In Canada, the C8 starts at 90K and the base 911 144k. This is Z06 prices....670hp and supercar styling vs 380hp and mundane styling....I'd rather have a C8 as a weekend car and a nice sedan or SUV as a daily for the same price as a base 911.
Driven a base 2023 911 I agree on everything you said except, youre not going to find a base 911 anywhere on this planet for 100k, I checked a few months ago and they start 115K cazuela of options and youre in the 125K+, but indeed is the best value in Porsche line up of 911s , and yes a tune will turn it into a rocket, but for now I’ll keep my 991 Carrera S.
Yea honestly I’d want used car over this. I’d love a 991.2 GTS probably less than a new 992 too
This is what I want to see more of. Not just top specs. Also, I suspect the base model is all a lot of people actually need. But instead, they save up for something and aspire to something they may not be able to afford instead of just getting something
Thanks! Yea it was good to change it up. They sell a lot of these for a reason
I had a 100 grand to spend…..and spent it on a Carrera.
By the time I took delivery, it was right at $130 K.
Base Carrera.
Almost 1 year and 2500 miles later, I wouldn’t trade it for ANYTHING !
That’s good to know!!!
I've had a 996, 991.2, and now own a 992, all base models. They are definitely not track cars but can hold their own and are fun to drive on the rally circuit. I strongly suggest anyone considering a base Carrera should add the sport chrono and sports exhaust packages.
Very good points!
agree, base Carrera with chrono package and sport exhaust is the sweet spot for someone wanting a driver's car.
Unbelievably thorough. I love that you even added in how much power increase can be provided with just a tune.
I'm looking at adding a 2017 911 Carrera 4S to my stable simply because of this feature. 500hp, awd, pdk. It's gonna be fast, fast, fast.
Thank you so much! Yea I’d love a 991 s too. I gotta make a used car video now lol
Yes, the base and 992 T are such good driver's cars!
I agree, and the sticker shock is much less than some of the flagship models
I'd grab the previous gen GTS for that price and get hit less with depreciation. Maybe even a 991.1.
You’re a mind reader, I’d do the same thing haha. I was talking new cars. I may open the used car can of worms if this video does well though!
Nice review. I have a base 991.2 Carrera with a Cobb tune and it has plenty of power for my needs.
Awesome! I bet that really woke it up even more!
For those that aren’t aware, the 992 911S uses the 992 GTS Turbos. Only difference is a 40hp factory Porsche tune for the GTS. M Engineering has a 992S “GTS” tune that safely turns a 992S into a GTS, for $2400 and 5 minutes. Removal is 5min and undetected by Porsche dealers. They will also build you a 140hp tune file you can swap in vs the GTS tune if you want Turbo S power. The C2S is an amazing value. The Base model has smaller turbos.
I will add “turn into a GTS” just in power only. The GTS still uses TurboS brakes and suspension. If you plan on tracking a 911, you’ll swap those out anyways most likely. Or at a minimum shocks/springs/rotors/pads.
Yeah, in power only. On track, the LSD and rear axle steering probably would help as well, but still a very capable car.
@@LowBoostFilms C2S with PDK comes with LSD, manual-LSD option, and the RWS is an option.
@@TrackDayPorsche911yea, I thought you were talking about the base. My bad.
Nice video. My dream car that I will make come true before I leave this earth. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks! It’s my dream as well!
Nice review. Nothing “base” about a base 911. Great cars and they really hold their value.
I couldn’t agree more, and they are a lot faster than people give them credit for
@@LowBoostFilms I love reading the comments from people that are incredibly biased toward this engine / this horsepower etc.
And everyone of them is more than willing to advise you on which model is best, based on their extensive knowledge.
Of course, their knowledge is derived from the Car and Driver magazine that they get every month at Happy Acres Trailer Park and Adult Shop !!
@@unclebob4964haha yea, it helps to drive lots of different cars which I’m thankful I’ve had the opportunity to do. I try to base my reviews as much as a regular guy as I can.
@@LowBoostFilms Same here, LBF. I’m 75……I started right out of the gate with a brand new 1966 Olds 442. ( thanks, dad ! )
At 17 I traded it for a 1966 327 300 hp Corvette. ( it was stolen from our driveway….never seen again.)
The insurance money bought a 1969 RAM AIR GTO. Pretty fast car !!
I think the next was a 1969 Z-28…….302 DZ solid lifter SCREAMING machine……once it hit about 4000 rpm, it went crazy !
Then a smattering of cars……69 427 tri-power Corvette……worst slug ever. A nice 71 or 2 Forrest Green Corvette……and then a 1974 350 Corvette that I own to this day…….gorgeous car.
Picked up a new Macan S in 2017…..and the 911 Carrera last April.
Without a doubt, the 911 is in a class by itself.
Maybe it’s because I’m just an old codger…….but when the power rolls on in that Carrera, it just goes……and goes…..and GOES !!
Almost enough to scare this old man !!
I love it…….a truly brilliant car.
@@Grasshopper0122I may be a lot younger than you and I love 911s but I’d trade my 911 for a 69 DZ 302 in less then a heartbeat haha.
That same car in Ireland starts at €185000 so $100,000 is a bargain by comparison. I would agree the base model have everything you need as standard, great review thanks. Tom
Absolutely! I’d take a bare bones 911 over a loaded m3
The assumption is that the entry level 911 is somehow cheap. Fact of the matter is there is 60 years of development in that car. In addition Porsche uses the best materials and it is built to be a platform to withstand the forces of all the models that produce more power. This is no "basic car."
I agree completely, the base 911 is better than most other cars ever made lol
A new 992 base with good options is about 150k + taxes. But 100% agree that this is the car to get. Unless you're planning to mainly use the car to track the car, the base model is almost perfect.
100% accurate. Just got one last month. 160k total with taxes. Honestly, it's too expensive for a well equipped base.
Yea if I were to get the base I’d want it so bare I’d say “don’t even paint it” lol. I would rather have a bare bones 911 than a loaded M3/m4
@@capaldi328I’ve owned 4 and was looking at a new C4 It tops at about a buck fifty
I’m 70 and they are starting to get out of my price range
I think I’ll keep my 22 992 cab
@@bourbontraveler Live your life. Go for the one you really want. Can't take it with you.
I rented that same 911 while i was there back in october
Nice! Definitely a great rental!
great video. i never really considered a base 911 but i think it makes the most sense as an enthusiast. i would want the rwd and less optioned out version but from what i gather on autotempest the manuals are really scarce and pull a significant premium over a PDK. theres a CPO 2020 in OR for 110k, not bad. theres a part of me that doesn't want to fall down the porsche rabbit hole because i know itll ruin every other car for me, but i cant help but be impressed by the engineering and performance that is really undeniable
Thanks! It’ll definitely ruin everything else for you but I’m glad I went down the rabbit hole haha.
If you talk with most car journalist, they will all agree that if you desire a drivers car that will give you all the experience of driving a Porsche 911 without the insane cost or risk of going to jail, you just cannot beat the base Carrera. I think "enthusiast" are too in love with horsepower numbers, four wheel drive or size of brake rotors which really don't matter unless you are tracking the car. I've been driving a 991 50th Anniversary edition daily. it has no turbo, no special ground effects, no four wheel drive and is a manual. I don't think I've missed out on anything.
You are 1000% correct, especially for a street car the base 911 is amazing. Would you notice a huge difference on track sure. But the other 95% time it doesn’t matter. That’s an awesome spec you have. I really want a 991.1 S
Great video! I usually find car reviews a little boring but this was very fun to watch!
Thank you! I tried to change it up from what people are used to seeing and talk about some more nuanced car things
IMHO the 991.2 is the pinnacle of 911. No particulate exhaust filter, no unnecessarily gimmicky door handles, lighter and smaller than the 992. Admittedly the 992’s wider fenders are a plus but I think the 991.2 rear end looks better as does the rounder lines of the front end. About the Base Model, those smaller turbochargers respond more quickly than larger ones, providing street useable performance. Instead of paying for the Porsche Sport Exhaust, that adds zero performance but plenty of extra weight, I just bought a Soul Performance exhaust that adds power and sound while reducing weight.
Yea I’d get Soul or Fabspeed exhaust for this too. I really want a 991.2 GTS personally. But I was trying to keep the argument among new cars. I may open that used Porsche can of worms though since this video is doing well so far!
@@LowBoostFilms this is kinda funny- I actually went with the Fabspeed X-pipe, muffler delete and the Soul high flow cats. I was just trying to shorten my comment 🙄 About your GTS, yes, absolutely! IMHO every 991.2 model is the best looking one in the series. I mean, the 991.2 GT3 is more desirable (to me) than a 991.1, 992 or any other generation. Same with your GTS.
@@foesfly3047nice! Yea the GTS still has a backseat which is big because my daughters love to ride in the back of my 996. Hopefully I can get a 991 in a few years when some of my project cars are done.
I've not driven a base 992... but last year I rented a 911s from enterprise elite while I was in vegas for a family wedding. I didn't make it to the hoover dam, but I did have a chance to do the valley of fire and up and over Mt Charleston. Absolutely fell in love. If I didn't live in a remote location, I'd own one. Fantastic drive, and a totally liveable car for the few days I had the pleasure of experiencing it. Nice thing about the S (as you mentioned) is you get the GTS turbos... if you get bored with "just" the stock horsepower, they can easily produce 600 plus reliably... Certainly biased, but for $15-20k over base, I would consider that a premium worthy of the investment. I'm currently actively looking to find a tradeshow I "need" to attend just to try and get back into that car for a few days!!
I feel you, I think 100k is the limit for some people so even if they can’t squeeze the extra 15k-20k for the S they won’t be disappointed
We had a Carrera T with MT on order but after driving one bought a year old 2023 base 911 with PDK. $140K OTD with 6yr unlimited miles warranty and worth every penny. Ours has 20 front, 21 inch rear wheels and sport exhaust so looks like an S, except for the brakes. Our 9th Porsche and the best all around 911 we have owned.
That’s awesome! I think for me I really want a 991.1 GTS. Unless these come down in price in the used market.
Thanks for you video! Let me realize all Carreras share the same engine. That makes the base Carrera sound really reliable to me.
They are very reliable, and it’s a bargain compared to some of the more expensive models
I JUST BOUGHT ONE!!!!!! BASE 911 ......MAY 31ST.......I CANT WAIT
Congrats!! You’re going to love it!
Even though the 911 has grown in size considerably over the last couple of decades, it's still one of the best performance/handling vehicles to purchase.
I agree completely!
I think your pricing is 4 years old on the Carrera base. They now start at 116k 😢
Oof, that was what I saw on google. Maybe it said from 106k? Still a lot more
Yup a base 911 is now starting from $116,050. 😢
Grab it while you can, in 10 years a base Carrera will cost $150k
@@birit911 Yea! Right now I’m trying to decide on a Carrera T or a Cayman GTS 4.0 pretty hard decision looking at the cost difference.
Hands down 911. M4 competition is super tempting though. But 911 wins. Also, not sure if this is still the case but you can get a decent Audi R8 used for < $100k.
I may need to make an argument for used cars for 100k
Base Carrera price is $116,000 starting MSRP. Dealer mark-ups are $15k minimum. Add any options and tax, you're not walking out paying less than $135k.
The fact that they are still doing dealer markups is criminal.
The mark-up for a new GTS build at Porsche Long Beach is $30k@@LowBoostFilms
@@jamesroberts1504Jesus! Ok I’m gonna go cry now lol
I've personally been looking at the 992 911 and Lexus LC 500. Any thoughts?
I’m partial to the 911, might not have the creature comforts of the Lexus, but it’s really nice inside and drives a lot better
LC500 all day compared to a base 911 lol.
I would get the Carrera T. My dream car. Its about 125 tho. I love 911s. Best car on the planet.
I wish they kept the back seat in it. At that point you could get a GT4 for 106k and it’s faster.
@@LowBoostFilms That is true. I dif not think of that. You can get the rear seat back in for no money I think. I lived in Vegas for a year in 2018-19. Watching your video really took me back there. I enjoyed Hoover Dam alot also. Thanks for the cool video.
@@WARDADDY72I’m glad I could bring back some memories. I didn’t know you could get the seat back for nothing. That’s prob the best way to go then lol.
Good review. Thinking of upgrading to a 992 from a 991.
Can’t go wrong with either!
why?
I have a 2016 Porsche 991.1 "Base". It's the last of the naturally aspirated engines unless you are going to to shell out stupid amounts of money. I love the power delivery, performance, etc., and in owning a car I'm way past being concerned over timed distance being 0.3 seconds faster for another $50k. It's an absolutely great car, I'm a big fan of stick shift however PDK is amazing, especially as most of my driving is in LA. Besides, I can use paddle shifters if I want. I recently drove from LA to Scottsdale (400 miles)and it is a very comfortable car for being such a high performance car. The car's computer recorded an average speed of 74mph over the entire trip, and it averaged 33 miles per gallon!
I’m with you here, I may have to do a separate video on used ones because for me a 991.1 GTS is the one I really want.
It makes me laugh how many people worry about horsepower, size of the brake rotors and whether the badge has a GT stuck t
o it. For most people, those things really don't matter when driving in traffic or even on the interstate
Good video. I went with the 911 because my kids love coming along and I agree, for 4 seat sports car, the 911 is hard to top.
I’m in the same boat, my kids love it!
I would be absolutely torn on deciding on either the M4 competition with xdrive or this absolutely perfect “bare bones” 911 carrera …
Porsches do hold there value well, while you know an m4's value will plumit, but xdrive... i get it.... i would get a base model with a aerokit in a special colour: red, yellow or shark blue. Garanteed to keep its value even better
$100,000 that's a bargain! Here in Australia they are over $300,000 AUD or about $220,000 USD
Wowza!
Great review. I totally agree with your choice for $100k. Used examples start at $96k currently which is crazy, and too bad for cheapos like me. One day my wife will let me.. can’t wait :)
Keep up the good work. More Porsche content please.
Thank you! I’ll always do more if I can. Nah some 996 videos coming soon. I have a 996
What do you mean "if the wife let you" are you a child, are you spending her money? Grow some balls.
@@MrNanah38I have 6 cars, I can only go to that well so many times. If I buy a 7th I think she’d divorce me lol.
@@LowBoostFilmsinterested in the 996 video. I just became debt free and this is the car I would like to buy cash as a reward for accomplishing it
@@franciscojuan4551I have more coming, but I already have a few out now.
I have a '22 base with an APR tune. It's my 3rd 911 (964 & 997 previously) and the best car i've ever driven.
That’s good to know! I should drive a tuned one now haha
@@LowBoostFilms Since it doesn't have a real limited slip diff (uses the brake system to simulate), the extra power makes it extra squirmy with full throttle, Sport Plus launches which of course increases the fun factor.
Got my first luxury car this year, an M340i, as part of my goal to over time get into a nicer and nicer car. I’ve been eyeing a base 911 for a while now! Almost pulled the trigger on a used 2022 but it was too big a jump in price. So in another 3 years or so, I’ll try to get into a 911 🙏🏽
Honestly, you will love the 991 as well and would be able to get one for a lot less
M340 is a great car. Had 2020 for 3 years and 40k miles and got 992 now
Lobe the 911, have had 7 over the years and I can’t buy anything else! A winner!
That’s awesome. And I don’t blame you!
Great review Ken. Your point about depreciation is a huge selling point for this car, especially if only keeping for a year or 2. BMWs are sinking ships. That being said…I’m still sticking with my G82. I just can’t get into the base 911. Maybe they needed driver mods but they were not impressing me on track 2 weeks ago, and I was being held up by them until I finally got the point. I love my manual transmission, and the carbon buckets are some of the coolest ones I’ve seen on a sub 100K car. And I like it stands out (for better or worse). For me, 911 has to have the word Turbo or the letters GT on the ass. I would daily this car though in a heartbeat.
Work trip?? You were there to see the rumored proposal after the game! Admit it! 😅😅
I think thanks more of a driver mod thing then, you’re a better driver than you give yourself credit for! I remember a MT episode where they had a 911 outpacing a G82 pretty good and I was like wtf lol. Yea Turbo and GT are way better but also over 2x what a G82 is so I can’t even compare those. Your G82 is amazing because you got a proper gearbox!
I was there during divisional round weekend, so I missed the SB.
I spent a little north of $100K on a 718 cayman GTS 4.0. Naturally aspirated, more power than a base 911, smaller than any 911, lighter, and with a manual.
That’s the way I’d wanna go if I didn’t need a back seat.
tune is easy at 420hp at the wheel. big increase is easy. i have m-tune on mine. my last carrera was S, and this time i went for more soft experience. daily driving gets tired with S
That’s awesome! Yea I can see the potential of fatigue daily driving an S
Currently own a C8, I drove several 911’s (I love them) before my purchase but the power & sounds of the C8 was a dealbreaker for me. You have to spend 6-8k to get a tune & real exhaust on a 911, just too much $$.
Yeah, the C8 is still considerably less than a bare bones 911. I think the C8 competes more with the Cayman gt4, I tried to compare the 911 to another car that has a backseat. The Corvette always has had the crown of best performance per dollar for half a century.
American cars - BIG depreciation
Iam waiting for my allocation, late February/March trying not to get the options too high, since I need a PDK [bad knee] a Carrera T would be nice too, just how much you want to spend, under 140K out the door, for me
Oh nice! Yea it doesn’t take much to option it out to 140k. You’re going to love it. The PDK is amazing.
I have not driven a modern 911 so I would have to drive one to see if I’m mesmerized by the 911. My current $100K+ budget went this way. 2022 G80 M3 6MT and a 2022 BMW R 1250 GS. I would have to sell both to get a 911 comfortably and right now that does not make sense. I’d love to have a 911 but I still need the utility of my M3. Grocery, stuff my mountain bike in the back family of 3 road trips. Who’s know maybe a 911 one day but it’s not a dream to own one.
Yea m3 has more functionality. They do sell roof bike racks for the 911 they look cool. As a driver the 911 is better but you can’t go wrong with the G80! Especially since you got it in a manual.
About the Base 911 Wheels, seems to me, lots of buyers add the upgrade to S-wheels. And that’s how my 2017 Base was ordered, along with all the best interior upgrades, which I enjoy as a ‘mature 😉’ Porsche owner. My point being- your choosing to focus on the modest C2 in this video made for an interesting view and discussion. The only significant compromise really, is it’s missing the torque vectoring differential. BUT it could also be argued, the base diff is lighter, probably less future maintenance and rarely is lack of rear tire traction an issue on a 911.
Yeah, I can’t really make a comparison to a well appointed C2, because that will easily be 50,000 more than a loaded M3. I’m also the type of guy to buy aftermarket wheels and put them on, as well as tune it. A lot of the upgrades that you get from the S really serve you better if you track the car and a lot of people don’t track these cars. Even if I owned this, I would track my Corvette because it’s a lot less expensive to do so.
I think comparing a loaded M3 to a bare bones 911 is an interesting discussion.
@@LowBoostFilms If you do a comparison of ECU tunes for the 991.2, I’ll be Very interested. Once I make time to install the high flow exhaust (that have been laying in my garage for months), I’ll be shopping for the ECU Tune. So far, I’m leaning toward the Vivid Racing VR Tune, partly because they are local to me and also because they post product videos on RUclips.
Yea, I’d make one of those if I had some local people willing to showcase their car for it. Comparatively to my 996 where mods do almost nothing for power, the (non turbo, turbo) 911s can gain a lot from minimal mods just by raising the boost.
Kinda weird how they are all turbo now..having a turbo porsche was kind of a special club to be in. I love my 996tt..all 911s are amazing cars.
Yea I think they hit a limit of being able to produce an N.A. flat 6 for a base car that still makes power that isn’t a GT engine.
Have they fixed the potholes on that road to Az? Terrible when I drove it last year
Seemed to be good
Rain in AZ or NV is rarer than winning in a casino LOL yes best car in the World Porsche 911 not only the looks but quality is top and PDK is really good.
I was SHOCKED! I’d love a manual but the PdK was amazing
What and where $2500 tune are you referring to? To pump up HP and torque?
There’s a few, but the numbers I got were for a Flat 6 Motorsport tune
Softronic, Cobb, APR… there are a bunch.
Yes. It is EXACTLY that good.
Yes, EXACTLY

Got lucky enough to get a paint to sample carrera 4. They start at 120K and after options … easily 150K
Yea definitely
Anyone here have experience with both the base 911 and the Giulia QV? I’ve got kids so it needs to be a sedan, but thinking when they’re a bit older it’ll be time for a 911.
Funny you say that I actually was looking to rent a Quadrafolio at my last meeting but it fell through. I’m going to try to this summer.
A new 2024 Porsche 911 base starts at $114k (no options), to get the manual you need to go to a 911T which starts at $125k
Yeah, I was going off of 2022 prices, the T is a bargain too
Nice Car! now how usable are those back seats?
Folded down, you can easily fit golf clubs in there, but it better be a smaller person back there lol and it better not be a long trip lol
My wife and I do road trips.
Between the frunk and rear seats, there is more than enough room for luggage……and we pack EVERYTHING !!!
They're OK. I have a 992 base and for kids and teenagers they get the job done just fine.
I would go with a 991.2 with a seven speed manual… oh wait that’s exactly what I did. I bought one with 24,000 miles for 85 grand put some brand new tires on it got it freshly aligned. It had a tune and straight pipes and I’m getting them was 490 hp at the crank. PDk is faster, 7 speed manual
is much more fun to drive. If the 992 base had a seven speed manual option that would’ve been the direction I would’ve gone unfortunately I don’t have $140,000 to buy an S.
I agree completely, that’s what I would do
i can only imagine how nice it is considering i like my new honda civic i just got
Nice! Yea this was a blast
I haven’t drunk the Porsche Kool Aid yet, but I get why they are wonderful and one might just be in reach for my retirement gift to self. If I sell my liter bike and my old ICE car (Audi S4). The question is, Cayman GTS 4.0 manual or base 911 with PDK and as few options as I can stand to live without.
If I didn’t care about the back seat it would be cayman GTS. I don’t like Porsche until I drove one and was like “wtf was I thinking?!?!?”
@@LowBoostFilmsI “sat” in the back of a 911 once and don’t have a use for it. Hopefully I can still find a Cayman GTS when my S4 reaches its use-by date.
@@hardykornfeld1733my kids would be devastated lol. It’s why I have a 996.
The 4.0 in the Cayman is special, the 911 chassis and even PDK is special. Drive them both, and I’d HIGHLY recommend find a “Porsche Experience” track. You can try them both - 45min each. I’m sorry, but it will probably cost you $120K, but it was the most amazing experience that led me to a lot of happiness 😊😊😊
You only live once!
911 if it's any kind of a regular use daily driver and occasional track day. Cayman GTS 4.0 if you plan to track it. Just know that the Cayman won't be a comfortable daily, but it will be a monster for HDPE. I've owned both 911 and Cayman (currently 911).
I currently have a 997.1 manual with short shifter and a ton of suspension mods. I prefer the drive of the 987.1 boxster I had so I am picking up a lotus emira.
Oh nice! Where did you find one?
@@LowBoostFilms dealership in socal. I put my deposit 2 years ago. Funny thing is it's still pending CARB approval so no one in CA is getting there's until that's done.
I have a 987.1 Boxster and love it.
@@Steve-jq4stgreat car for the money!
@@swsschzugh that sucks. I hope you get it soon. I hope there’s some locally so I can review that too
I would consider Lotus Emira in this price range
I really wanted to include that car in this video as its comparator because Lotus’ drive extremely well. But I wanted to compare it to another car with a backseat.
Good review, keep it up.
Thanks!!! This one was a blast
MSRP on a base 911 now is 110k+, not 95k+.
Ugh, damn
Can’t wait to get my 911 992 Carrera S cab.
Oh nice! It’ll be great!
It's fine if you don't add any options... If you're happy with it as is only choosing the paint color...
I’d take a bare bones one lol
What did u pay to Turo the car? I just got my C8 Z, and my dream is having the Z sitting next to a 911. The last 911 that I drove was a 996 and loved it, but I need to to drive a 992.
Oh nice congrats! I own a 996 I love it but this was a whole different animal while still driving like a classic 911. It was like $250 a day I got it for 2 days.
I don’t know Porsche but if you get a tune for a Honda it’ll void your warranty because the dealer will know after a scan. Now this may not be a big thing for a used $30k Honda (example) but if that was the case I would just leave the 911 the hell alone. Yes, I know life is not fair but I’ll suck it up hitting the 1/4 mile in a little over 11 seconds. I would also live with the PDK too. I drive a modified Miata on weekends and the manual is ideal since the power is so low, there’s plenty of boost in the 911. An almost perfect car out of the box in base form.
I’d wait until the warranty is up then tune it. But it’s fine as it sits.
The M.Eng tune can be removed in 5 min without Porsche knowing. At least for the 992 model - Google it. Adds 140hp to the C2S - that’s Turbo territory 😊
Good video but check your audio levels my guy, some of your scenes are very low volume
Yeah, that annoyed me too. I tried my best to level it out.
I'm surprised Royalty didn't have a GT3RS available for you.
They had a 991.2 gt3 rs last year. Gone now :/
My next car will definitely be this one.
Nice! You won’t regret it
As others mention below, you cannot buy this car for 100k. Best to compare this to cars that cost 120-130 and, on that level, it certainly has competition.
Yea I was going off of 2022 prices. It’s definitely higher :/
Great video. What drone did you use to capture your aerial shots? Super cool with the Vegas desert landscape. 👍🏽
Thanks! I wish it wasn’t raining I would have gotten more footage. It’s a DJI Mini3 Pro. Haas a great follow you feature. There’s a link in the description for it, full kit with some extras.
Didn’t you hear when they said no drones in the desert? 🌵 but ya I would definitely choose the base Carrera at 100k over any other brand at that price.
Not in certain places. But not where I was with it.
Isnt a 991 turbo s around 100k?
I think they’re still a lot more
A 2014/2015 with 50k miles is about $115k, for low miles $130k+
@@MrSchn3llgood to know, I think 100k is the a budget line for a lot of people and if they want a newer 911, even the base won’t disappoint. But yea a turbo would be awesome haha.
as Far as new Cars? for the money, the 911 is king. no contest. although I've actually found that an air cooled 964 Porsche 911 is actually a much more "fun" car to drive around town. not nearly as fast as far as specs goes but driving to Taco Bell the Mechanical feel of the 964 is Awesome. the new 911 is amazing and fast as hell, but driving around town the experience is very filtered and smoothed out.
My 996 drives amazing for what it is. But yea the 992 was on another level. Not raw like the 964 though.
0-60 and quarter mile time are mostly proportionate.
Not really there are 13 second cars that do 0-60 in 4 seconds, and there are 10 second cars that can too. Trap speed is the better indicator of power.
Great video
Thank you!
It might be a little older, but a Ferrari FF is awesome and has 4 seats!
I feel like even used they’re still a lot more than the 911 is new right?
Not always, the FF can run around the price of a 911, depending on miles and the spec the car has, and it’s a V12.
@@MedicalNeptunecan you get one for $100,000?
There is an awesome one for sale right now in Fort Lauderdale, at Carrio Motors, beautiful looking, 39K miles a 2014 for 109,998!
I'm going to check insurance rates compared to an electric car. Mature driver good record.
Prob more based on value not driver
Really weird a tune does so little on your end of the ocean,a stage 1 here in europe gives you 480hp or a 100hp increase
Depends on the company, it’s a mild tune
Lotus Emira
Why?
Manual
New vs used
Exotic appearance
Handling (mid engine)
Driver feel (hydraulic steering aids this)
I wanted to bring that one up (I wanted to rent that as well, but there weren’t any around) but I didn’t want to compare it to the 911, it doesn’t have a backseat. Now Emira vs Cayman. That would be interesting
Great video!
Thanks!
Great job
Thanks! It was a blast to drive
Base is all you need unless you want a GT3 .
More or less yea
Agree. But problem is getting an allocation for a GT3.
Me too and my car is now faster than a GTS. Great value
This is the recipe!!!
I have had a few cars but not one is a base model
911s?
I had to watch this in x2 speed but good review
Did I talk too slow? Or you didn’t like the pace of it?
Tune kills your warranty so that’s no good
Yea it does. If you don’t care about that it’s fine haha.
I’m just guessing but if you bought a new Porsche that last thing you want to void is that 4 yr warranty, especially since the 911 has plenty of power for any aggressive road driving.
@@DavidStraightyea, you’re right. But the minute the warranty is up I’d do it!
Where can you buy one for a hundred grand?
They’re 106k bare bones.
@@LowBoostFilms today a base is 114400
@@bourbontravelerseriously ?!? Now I’m more sad.
At the price point. I bought a Lexus LC500 coupe. Better fit and finish. Redundant manufacturing quality controls, more dependable, lower maintenence costs, and more luxurious.
Everything you say might be true. But it doesn’t drive better, because it’s not a 911.
What’s your thought Le on the Lexus LC500 as far as value for the money compared to a base 911?
The interior on them is nice, but the driving experience is going to be completely different. That’s not really a drivers car in comparison to this. If you’re looking for a bigger heavier, luxury touring car with a very soft ride, get the Lexus. if you want a pure drivers car that is great on public roads but also great on a track to get the 911
@@LowBoostFilms, Thanks for replying, but u also get a lot more for your $ as well as much better reliability.
Yea can’t beat Toyota reliability! These cars are pretty reliable too. You might get more for the money with the Lexus you’re right. Most 911s aren’t bargains but this is the cheapest one. Part of the reason is because nothing else drives like a 911.
However, the 911 will hold its value considerably better than the Lexus. These cars 5 years old are still selling at or above their msrps which is crazy!
We just witnessed a 100k dustbuster
Haha lots of dust out here lol
C2 is perfectly fine year round/in snow - C4 is a 'lesser' 911 imo ... not nearly as much fun to toss around
Yea I like rwd better.
What 911 costs $100K? A 2025 base model 911 starts at over 120K. With a few options you’re looking at $140K otd.
I was looking up what a 2021-2022 was because that’s what this was.
I'm buying one, unfortunately the base price has gone up to $116K but.. after about $20K in upgrades... I'll have my forever sports car. Oh and as for the wife? You have to buy her an equally almost as expensive car at the same time... So she gets a '25 X7
Damn! Still well worth it
Since when can you get a base 911 for 100k? They start at 114.4 without a single option. Porsche isn't exactly known for their affordable options either...
I was going off of 2022 prices which was actually right around that number, but it is certainly gone up
"If my wife let me." Hmm...
Yeah, she’s not a fan of me having six cars, she wants me to get rid of one not get another. Lol.
Really a great car. But the V10 of the R8 is unbeatable for that price.
You read my mind. Stay tuned
