Sherry, the mural is gorgeous! I love the velvet drapes with it, but also thought the mural looked great on its own too. Maybe in the spring/summer seasons you could replace them with sheers for an airier look. At any rate, you’ve once again inspired me with your top-notch taste and talent!
First, let me say how much I absolutely love the bird gallery wall going up the stairs. The mural with the curtains looks so pretty, and the bookcase and vignette was staged so beautifully. Great job, Sherry, on this makeover. I want a mural now.
Sherry, both your decorating skills and your design skills leave me in awe. This hallway is phenomenal!! I do love the curtains back up with the mural behind them. Thank you for sharing your genius with us.
Absolutely stunning. I can't believe how much the mural elevates the space. And the bookcase and cloches are the perfect accompaniment! Beautiful, Sherry!
So pretty, Sherry! I thought I liked the mural better without the drapes until you added the drapes and I love it even more with them! Thanks for all your great ideas!
@@CanterburyCottage Maybe you could paint the doors and trim around the doors a darker color so they will blend in more. Love your gallery wall. And the mural and darker shelving looks so good. A great balance of colors.
Oh my word Miss Sherry this is so beautiful ❤❤❤ I desperately would love to duplicate this! I am glad you showed what it really looks like to hang that kind of wallpaper… You have the patience of a saint! I might have to think of an alternative to that wallpaper because honestly I don’t think I could do it but I’m I’m love with what you created ❤❤❤
I love your interpretation of dark academia decor style. Your mural is a beautiful and fitting addition to your bird/ natural science theme. I first thought the drapes would not be needed but when I saw them hung I knew you had made the right call. They add so much warmth and texture. You are amazing with such vision. Thank you for sharing your creativity with your Canterbury Cottage family! ❤
I love the transition! The mural works as a progression from the nature of birds to an outdoor scene. As always, you have inspired me with so many ideas. I have a huge stash of frames and was looking for ideas. Now, I only need to get started.
💕Sherry, you’ve done it again!!!! 🦅🕊🦉I love the framed bird wall you already have. The mural is a perfect transition from the bird wall. You really have the touch when it comes to accessorizing. In your videos you most always mention getting something from your stash to complete an area…. 👀Would you ever consider showing your stash and how you organize it in order to know what you have. Thank you for sharing all your tips and tricks with us💕
Fabulous! I love your nature aesthetic combined with the 'Dark Academia' vibe. The mural and rug go so well together, and I think the gold velvet drapes soften the look. My only criticism would be the missing bindings on the books on the shelves of the bookcase. The science books on the top shelf look so good with the cloches, and it's jarring to me to see the other books turned around or raggedy-looking. I've seen decorators stage homes like that, and their use of books for props has always bugged me. You do have The Eye, Sherry. Well done!
You've done an amazing job with the transformation. I'd never be so brave as to tackle any wallpaper. I have to say, I think the room seems lighter without the curtains as well as more lavish with them. (both great looks) The space is lovely.
Geez...Just stop it! Stop being so darn creative, inventive, resilient, hardworking, original, encouraging, knowledgeable and about a dozen other attributes. Once again you knocked it out of the park. Being so talented must be exhausting! 🥰 Deb
Okay, you have MAD skills to take on peel and stick wall paper without a helper! It’s such a fiddly product, I applaud your determination. It looks great!
The landing hallway looks beautiful, I love it. I appreciate you showing the vision you have for it then showing us what didn't work and why. The small bookcase is perfect, as you say and your styling is spot on. I love it all.
I love love the gallery bird wall. Would hate to see it go. The mural is beautiful and perfect for that space . With the birds and mural it just all flows into place. Just gorgeous.
I love it! I did the same thing with a map of the world in my husband’s office. For the little doors, you could use the wallpaper cut outs and add trim to the bottom of the doors to match the original trim. I also want to add that I love the gallery wall of bird prints too. I agree the light gray walls need to go. Great job!
Kristy, why didn’t I think of adding trim across the bottom of the doors?! Great idea!!! I saved some of the wallpaper scraps, but not all of them. I will have to look and see if this is even still possible!
@@CanterburyCottage because you have to be worn out! All that work would cloud anyone’s thoughts! If you don’t have enough scraps, you could paint the teeny doors in a complimentary color so they’re not the first thing you focus on when going upstairs.

agree, beautiful but covering it with curtains....and i would paint the windows to blend and not stand out( like the little book case). Still gorgeous!
Everything is just beautiful. I love the entire feeling, from the wonderful wallpaper to the bird pictures going up the stairs. Gives me such a warm and cozy, comfortable feeling. Thank you for sharing.
Seeing the framed gallery as you go upstairs and then the magnificent mural, the way the light comes through, well, the entire area gave me a sensation of the movie Pride and Prejudice, and I couldn’t love it more. How talented you are!

Well, I adore everything, from the stairs, the bird gallery wall, and the wallpaper. I was going to say no way to putting the velvet drapes back up. However, it looks just beautiful and doesn’t detract from the mural. Bravo!
Oh Sherry what a stunning hallway!!!! The velvet curtains look great with the wallpaper! The hallway looks absolutely stunning with the wallpaper. I say Sherry this is my favorite video of all time,!!!!!

The mural is lovely. I’m glad you rehung the curtains. …Not so much a fan of torn up books or books placed with the spine backward on a shelf but other than that, everything looks very nice. I love the bird gallery along the stairs.
I love it, the perfect mural for the space in keeping with the wood land thyme. Your idea of putting the bird art inside the glass dome is wonderful. My daughter has created a number of small bird water colours for me and this will show them off perfectly. So a hunting I must go....
I am not a fan of the books being faced backward or the covers torn off, I have to ask why. I have noticed this in some other videos. There are ways to make books that you don't like the covers of, by using wrapping paper, material, or wallpaper to cover them.
Sherry I love this, may I make a suggestion regarding the little doors? Hang a rustic painting in each one. Or add the same wallpaper and then glue on a painted baseboard scrap at the same height as your other baseboards. Or even make them look like little bookshelves by adding sawed off spines of old books on stained wood strips to look like the bottom edges of shelves. They just look a little bare to me.
Oh my goodness Sherry, you are fearless! I love the idea of mural wallpaper but the thought of hanging it terrifies me. The hall is gorgeous and the stairway gallery is perfect.
I loooove the bird gallery and then leading up to the hallway which gives such a wonderful outdoorsy mural feel. Could sit in the hallway and just feel like you are outdoors.
Wow! Love it! The mural is beautiful and so is the bookcase decor! The curtains are wonderful with the mural, nice layering effect. And I too love the bird gallery wall leading up the stairs. Great job!
Really brought the hall from ho hum to designer status. Everything the bird pictures, all the 'academic natural' items including the drapes finished the look. Very polished.
I absolutely love how everything looks, I mean absolutely love! I would switch the curtains out during different seasons, having them up every other season if that makes sense. Absolutely gorgeous!
This turned out so beautiful!! I love the whole flow from your gallery wall up the stairs to the new hallway decor. The curtains offer that final touch and amazing texture 🙌🏼. Your home is so lovely, thanks for the inspiration!
Your home is so warm and inviting! The wallpaper made the hall look so cozy. I love the velvet curtains, tied everything together. And the bookcase was a great idea!! I wish my brain was as clever as yours!!
Well done Sherry! Aside from learning about this wallpaper source, I most appreciate watching how you processed staging the bookcase. It looks like it was a "try-this-one; nope; use-that-one" process, which is very encouraging for those of us who still have to use a similar test-and-try method. Also, the end result created a consistent flow of visual interest up the staircase and into the small hallway. Thanks for the inspiration!

Looks good. However. I personally could not destroy a book by removing its cover. If a book is so old that the cover is lost, that is a different thing. Thanks for letting me "carp". I enjoy all your work.
OMG Sherry, this came out gorgeous! I’ve tried Peel and stick wallpaper and contact paper and for some reason I suck at it so bad! Lol no matter how hard I try I can NEVER GET IT STRAIGHT! Or line up correct?? Uugghh sometimes it gets me mad! Because I want to do my kitchen but I don’t want it to come out looking like a 5 year old did it lol!
When I first saw the wall paper up I was like, “NO” don’t cover your GORGEOUS paper with curtains! But when I saw the wall with the curtains I totally changed my mind. Sherry, that paper is beautiful! I wonder if it wd be renter friendly?
Oh Sherry I adore the bird display in the stairway!! It is breathtakingly beautiful! The addition of the mural was pure genius! I initially thought that the curtains would cover too much of the mural but then given the fact that you raised the curtains and that they are velvet is sheer elegance! I LOVE LOVE LOVE you and your channel! Please keep the inspiration coming and we'll keep watching!! 🥰🤩😍😁💖💞💝
Stunning BUT those curtains spoil the entire look. They're not needed - and block out three-quarters of the light anyway. No-one has obviously told you this but when buying metal curtain rods you need to buy them about 12" (30cms) bigger on each side so you can pull the curtains RIGHT BACK to let the light through (plus you need grey ones, sorry). xx
Wow what a difference Sherry. I think painting the little doors with the brown paint might hide them a little. I think you could even add shorter curtains to just cover the windows and expose more of the mural. I love the decor on the bookshelf. You did a fabulous job. 😚😙😗😘❤❤❤❤ PS how do you spell your name?
Dear Sherry, I LOVE what you do. I don’t think there is anything I haven’t liked, and I’ve successfully tried quite a few things and adapted several more and they have turned out great. You are a source of much beautiful inspiration. The stick on murals are a brilliant idea and remind me of the trompe d’oeil in old houses. The one thing, and it is very personal, is my horror when you ripped the cover off a book or ten. I’m a trained archivist. This sent shivers up my spine( no pun intended). I just have to get used to books being used as a decorative resource. Perhaps I should try it myself? 😅 Encyclopaedia Britannica here I come….. Another great video, art, inspiration, detail & practical advice all rolled into one. Great stuff. 😊😊😊🎉🎉🎉
Wow, really lovely, Miss Sherry.....! I like the Mural , even with the draperies...but was thinking ...perhaps put the 2 panels together ( on each window) and tie them back to one side of each respective area of the window. Just a thought, would show more of the mural and add interest. 🙂😊 The rug looks great with the Mural , good decision to leave it . The Mirror above the bookcase looks like it " belongs in that space ", and although I'm not too sure about the bookcase ( no criticism) I love the way you styled it . ( I was thinking more along the lines of a curvy bookcase, lol. And I think a buffet type lamp , with gold on it or similar finish would look great there ). I adore that Bird Gallery, as I am a " bird " person, as well . Lovely work on this project, for sure ! 👏🏻🌟🙂😊🙏🏻💛

No-one has obviously told you this but when buying metal curtain rods you need to buy them about 12" (30cms) bigger on each side so you can pull the curtains RIGHT BACK to let the light through (plus you need grey ones, sorry). xx
would have been more enjoyable if you had not been so OBVIOUSLY reading!!!!!
👏🏻🌟🙂😊🙏🏻💛
