  • This episode is a little different. I’ve decided to share with you all my lovely Hoya plants and their blooms. Even though I may be known as the orchid guy, I do grow many other plants and exotics in my ranch located in the agricultural district of Miami, Florida. I started collecting Hoyas about 5 to 6 years ago. I’m now just starting to really explore the world of Hoyas. It is a plant that works well in orchid collections. The Hoya plant, known as the wax plant, produced wonderful clusters of tiny flowers that grow out of a tiny growth called a peduncle. Usually these flowers will have amazing string fragrance. Join me on this special episode of my very own Hoyas and how I grow them outdoors. Filmed in 4K highest definition capability. #hoyas #hoyaplant #hoyaplants #hoyacare #hoyacollection #ranchlife #ranchwalk #rancho #gardenscapes #garden #gardeningtips #gardening #gardentour #floridalife #orchidshow #plantshow

    • @naturenel

      Hoyas are pretty much like orchids. They can be epiphytes. They only need the roots anchored firmly on a bark. You must have high humidity and warm weather. That’s the only way they’ll grow on trees wildly.

    • @naturenel
      @naturenel  Год назад

      Hello my Brazilian viewer! Muito obrigado por apoiar meu canal. Unfortunately places up north like NJ and NY are very difficult to bloom most orchids because they need a very humid environment. They also need very bright, indirect sun. Most Phalaeonopsis do well indoors. But Vandas and Cattleyas won’t bloom inside the home. Try Dendrobiums. Put them close to a very bright window. Make sure it gets indirect light. Dendrobiums can be acclimated to be in full sun. But it’s done slowly and gradually. Also feed bloom booster during the spring and summer. Once a month is good. 💪🏼

    Nelson, since you grow your plants outside, you should not use regular soil for hoyas, they will have root rot from heavy rains. I would recommend using bromeliad soil mix by better-gro, maybe even add some more perlite.
