Stmbled on this video yesterday...and very timely! Someone gave me a CASE of canned chickpeas and I have been struggling to find something to make with them, besides humus or putting them on a salad. Thanks for the suggestions!

You popped up this morning to help me celebrate Cinco de Mayo! You are lovely and your voice is nurturing. I’m soooo excited. I attempted hummus three times in 2009 when I bought my vitamix. It was horrible. I’m going to try all of these recipes. Beautiful kitchen too. You brightened my day beautiful lady. Thank you!!🙏 😊
Also for people who need to eat for managing diabetes, you will want to use basmati rice as it is the lowest on the gylcemic index.... or, cook your rice the day before and allow to fridge overnight. This technique increases the resistant starch content which helps feed your good gut microbes and it doesn't get digested and converted to sugar 👌💯🙏
@@andromedastar1 Hello, instead of ordinary basmati buy some semi wholewheat basmati from an organic shop. Rince it 4 times & let it soak in cold water for 30mins. Then cook it in salted boiling water for 5 to 7 minutes depending on taste. That rice has the lowest Glycemic Index. I was diagnosed Diabetes 2 at a very high level 2 years ago but I changed my diet (low Glycemic Index diet) without feeling deprived I lost 35kg & got rid of the diabetes altogether! 2 years later I've reintroduced some of the banned food (charcuterie, red meat, wine) but I still stick to my low GI diet most of the time & my blood tests are perfect!
@@ghislainecolleau5624 thank you for the wonderful answer. My slightly elevated A1c went from 5.9 to an even better 5.8 and just six weeks. I will give that rice a try and prepare it as you suggested.
@@andromedastar1 If you want to keep your A1c under control, have a look at the Glycemic Index of the food you eat. It's a bit fastidious at the beginning as it takes time to take it all in but it's definitely worth it in the end. To give you an example: A steamed sweet potato is low GI but a baked sweet potato is high GI!!! 🤪 Good luck
Thank you!! I love chick peas. Cheap, filling, tasty. I'm not vegan or vegetarian, but I flirt heavily with both. I aim for plant based dishes, go light on meat and dairy. I just love food, and my tummy is growling after watching this. The chickpea "tuna" on toasted sourdough just looks/sounds so good. I jotted down the ingredients. You sold me on the capers, so that is all I need to make this happen. :) I forgot about chickpea desserts. I find that chickpeas make for the best taste and texture. As close to the traditional recipes as I have ever found. I'm making some today. MMMmmmMmM!😍
Love your style, you have an excellent camera charisma 😃 I'm now subscribed 👌 I am a public health and diabetes Educator and I will be referring patients to your channel to learn how to incorporate more plants into their nutrition 🙏❤️

Good morning everyone Yes roasted garlic in olive oil is on point Thanks for sharing this I have made my own hummus and it was delicious I'd rather make my own anyway 😉
Thank you so much for these amazing recipes!!!❤ I am going to try them all. I'm already on my 3rd week in a row of making those brownies and OMG!!!! I'm trying to not have to double up on this recipe, but idunno, I might have to around my house. I alternate between peanut butter and almond butter and think I prefer the almond butter because the taste isn't as pronounced as peanut butter. Wow these are amazing!
That chickpea "tuna" sounds like a winner! I'm not vegan, but that looks worth a try. One thought: At my local restaurant supply store, I bought a 25 lb. bag of dried chickpeas for less than $25. One pound of dried chickpeas cooks up to about four 15-oz cans, which rarely sell for less than $1 a can where I live. So if saving money is a goal and you like chickpeas, you can save about 75% by getting them dried and cooking yourself, which is a breeze in an Instant Pot. And personally, I think they taste a lot better cooked from dried versus the canned version that by comparison seems to have a little bit of a tinny taste.
Try buying dried chickpeas, much lower in cost than canned and nothing to recycle. I pop them in the instant pot and they are ready within 30 minutes or less. Makes a good amount! Then I divide up what I’m not using right away and pop it in the freezer. Very handy for a quick meal or some hummus. I also love to add Kalamata olives to my hummus….. yummy
The very first time I made hummus, I shopped for the Tahini. At $14.99 for the bottle to only use 2 Tsps., I opted to substitute good old Peanut Butter instead. It was delicious! I have NEVER used Tahini in hummus. And, I choose "Don't ask, don't tell."
I’m glad I found this video. As a person who used to hate chickpeas now I love it and have it at least 3-4 al times a week. I’ll try recipe 3, 4 and 5.
I just tried the Chickpea Curry...AMAZING! Love your recipes and how simple they are to make. Also received your All Purpose Seasoning...can't wait to try it! You're awesome!
I never put capers or furikake in my chickpea tuna salad. I just make it like I used to make my tuna salad. It really, really does taste like tuna salad.
Really loving your recipes, i’ll probably make several of them. For those who are sensitive to lectins (I am), chickpeas are problematic. But i found that Eden’s canned chickpeas are pressure cooked which eliminates mostly all the lectins. They’re of course a bit more expensive but because I love them, I’m willing to pay. All other brands are high in lectins and make my digestive system very unhappy. Thanks for this post!!
Not only do I love, love, love your recipes, but I also love how tidy your work space always stays. Looking forward to more vegan recipes. Please suggest soy, gluten, and nut alternative ingredients when possible. Thanks. :)
