The Thuggee cult was real in the first half of the 1800’s in India and was made extinct by the British over 150+ years ago. It’s where the term “Thug” comes from and the movie Gunga Din from 1938 used them as villains resurrected in secret and that film inspired Steven Speilberg and George Lucas to use them again as villains for Indiana Jones.

Thuggee from the sanskrit word meaning concealment. It's where the word thug comes from. They were an organised cult of assassins and bandits that only worshipped the death aspect of Kali. Kali the Hindu Goddess of Time, Change, Creation, Power, Destruction and Death who was known to protect the innocent.
This movie is still banned in India. LEGO had to withdraw one of their Indiana Jones sets that came out last year for Dial of Destiny's release to circumvent that ban. Mola Ram ripping out the man's heart is 1/2 the reason the PG-13 rating exists in the US. The other is the microwave scene in Gremlins.
@br0ken_107 I mean, just because its a cult worshipping kali ma doesnt mean its a real representation of Kali. Cults worship false things all the time. A perversion of Kali. Indiana jones destroyed that perverse cult.

Fun fact about the dinner scene: The beetles they serve are rubber pieces stuffed with custard, while the monkey heads are stuffed with “chilled monkey brains”-actually raspberry pudding.
While this is widely regarded as the 'worst' of the original Indiana Jones trilogy, I still like it. I liked that they set it in a place and time most Americans of the time wouldn't have known much at all about, and a legend and history that was new and exotic (and, of course, pure fantasy like the rest of the films). A fun romp with Indy and his lovable side-kick, Short Round. Also, I love the pink rose in Hela's hair. Absolutely lovely.

Another classic movie from my childhood and the first time I had watched a Indiana Jones movie. Me and my brothers loved watching this one with my parents back when I was 6 or 7 years old but we would hide behind the couch during the sacrifice scene. It's funny that you mentioned twice feeling like you were on a roller coaster because Spielberg explained in a documentary that part of his secret sauce was trying to convey a roller coaster experience in his movies, this is why there is never a dull moment, he knows exactly how and when to toy with your emotions, the guy is a genius.
I was lucky enough to see this in a cinema back in March 2024. I was expecting the matte paintings to be really obvious but, apart from the rock-face matte painting that the water burst through near the end, the matte paintings still looked really impressive.
If you ever watch "Everything Everywhere All At Once," Short Round (Ke Huay Quan) is all grown up! He even won the Best Supporting Actor award for it. Born in Saigon / HCMC.
The guy who gets crushed in the mine fighting Indy is the same actor who plays the Nazi who gets killed by the plane propeller in the first movie. Pat Roach
Hello Movie Munchies!!! Thank you for continuing with the Indiana Jones franchise. In my opinion the third one is the best. What should be the best film in the Indiana Jones franchise for Movie Munchies? Some curiosities: The story of Temple of Doom takes place before Raiders of the Lost Ark; The nightclub at the beginning is called Obi Wan, a reference to a character from the Star Wars franchise; Actress Kate Capshaw (Willie Scott) has been married to director Steven Spielberg since 1991; Spielberg considered "Temple of Doom" the weakest film in the franchise at the time, as he thought the film was too dark. The trilogy searches for artifacts that existed, or supposedly existed, within the related beliefs. The Ark of the Covenant is related to the Jewish and Christian people; The Sankara stones are related to Hinduism; The Holy Grail is related to Christianity. (guys, it's not a spoiler because Movie Munchies has already watched the third film in the saga on Patreon and I apologize if I left any faith or culture out of the items mentioned). Sorry for my rusty English. 😅
Temple of Doom was one of the movies that finally caused the MPAA to create PG13 2:57 rating. Red Dawn became the first movie to receive the PG13 rating.
Guess who said- “No time to kiss” “A palace slave-is that naughty?” Thanks for giving me “You go to Hell” Chi-been missing that for a few reactions. Chi brings the heat of justice to the bad guys.
Wow, 40 years ago this movie was made... Time goes so fast. I remember watching this movie as a teenager. I enjoyed your reactions Chi and Hella! I'm trying to get my kids interested in these old movies.
These ladies might not have seen any of the classics they react to when they were young like so many of their viewers, but they have excellent taste in movies, love their choices!
So much fun watching with you beautiful ladies! Sorry the snakes and bugs frightened you I thought Chi was going to faint there for a while lol. Love you ladies!
I react like you two toward snakes whenever I see a spider The Temple of Doom is easily my favorite out of the trilogy. There's never a dull moment and the main cast played their parts so well. Yes, there are a few ridiculous parts, like how the first guy lowered into the pit lit on fire halfway down, but Willie comes within 5 feet of the lava and survives. The skydive raft scene is another. But they're part of what makes the movie so great 😁
I just enjoy watching these 2 react, so priceless. Especially during the scarey scenes, I honestly thought Chi was gonna faint. And Hella is such a joy (and very pretty I might add) with her one liners. Great reaction as always, keep up the good work.
The relationship between Indy and Short-round was the best thing about this movie. Amazing on screen chemistry.
He should be in Indy 5, rather than Fleabag.
Yup, the part where they exchange hats gets me every time.

“Give them food. NOT BUGS!” Hahaha

I love you ladies. You guys are so much fun to watch! Thank you for the videos.
44:05 Lol "Yeah! Yeah!" :)
44:15 Yes, but in a good way. ;)
My favorite of the franchise. I watched this heavily well before I went to grade school.
Yall really gotta watch "E.T." it's another Spielberg film that I think yall would really enjoy. Also please watch "a knights tale" it's one of my favorite movies and I think yall would like it a lot. Love your channel and reactions, keep em coming!
You gonna love the 3rd one's opening scene 😁
Keep in mind, chronologically this movie is the prequel to Lost Ark.
Temple of Doom 1935
Lost Ark 1936
Short Round somehow is Everything, Everywhere, all at Once! He's great!
Chi your bangs look amazing!! 🌸
You guys are gonna love Willie and adore Short-Round!
27:53 Sorry Chi but this was the best jump scare ever 🤣You two ladies are amazing
chi and hella are the best, i dont know why you started reacting but thank you. havent had such fun with movie reactions in a while.
Awesome reaction............really like the rose in Hella's hair, Classy!❤
Some curiosities:
The story of Temple of Doom takes place before Raiders of the Lost Ark;
The nightclub at the beginning is called Obi Wan, a reference to a character from the Star Wars franchise;
Actress Kate Capshaw (Willie Scott) has been married to director Steven Spielberg since 1991;
Spielberg considered "Temple of Doom" the weakest film in the franchise at the time, as he thought the film was too dark.
The trilogy searches for artifacts that existed, or supposedly existed, within the related beliefs.
The Ark of the Covenant is related to the Jewish and Christian people;
The Sankara stones are related to Hinduism;
The Holy Grail is related to Christianity. (guys, it's not a spoiler because Movie Munchies has already watched the third film in the saga on Patreon and I apologize if I left any faith or culture out of the items mentioned).
Sorry for my rusty English. 😅
16:03 This is the snake scene that I was waiting to see their reaction. Snake surprise... :D
24:18 "This movie truly make me on a roller coaster" 38:04 Kind of like this. ;)
16:08 Would Chi and Hela have the courage to try this fantastic food ??
Temple of Doom was one of the movies that finally caused the MPAA to create PG13 2:57 rating. Red Dawn became the first movie to receive the PG13 rating.
Guess who said-
“No time to kiss”
“A palace slave-is that naughty?”
Thanks for giving me “You go to Hell” Chi-been missing that for a few reactions.
Stuff that makes Chi cry:
1. Dinner scene from Temple of Doom.
2. John Coffey.
God I love the movies!
And the Munchies!! 🌸🌸🌸
25:39 Hilarious reaction!
So much fun watching with you beautiful ladies! Sorry the snakes and bugs frightened you I thought Chi was going to faint there for a while lol. Love you ladies!
I react like you two toward snakes whenever I see a spider
The Temple of Doom is easily my favorite out of the trilogy. There's never a dull moment and the main cast played their parts so well. Yes, there are a few ridiculous parts, like how the first guy lowered into the pit lit on fire halfway down, but Willie comes within 5 feet of the lava and survives. The skydive raft scene is another. But they're part of what makes the movie so great 😁
43:30 F'n 💀⚰️🪦 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣
I just enjoy watching these 2 react, so priceless. Especially during the scarey scenes, I honestly thought Chi was gonna faint. And Hella is such a joy (and very pretty I might add) with her one liners. Great reaction as always, keep up the good work.
