      fun fact- Fran Kranz (marty) was so ripped (muscles) when this movie was shot, they thought it would work against who his character is, they had him keep his clothes on the whole time, hence the scene when he didn't go swimming too. (they also thought he would outshine the other leads LOL)

      I paused the video to write this then you covered it. So, here's a Blu-ray behind the scenes tid bit for ya. The young man who plays the pot head was so jacked when he got the part that they had to layer clothes on him to make him appear smaller than Chris Hemsworth. Although shorter he's wide and ripped so the extra clothing he wears hides his gains.

      Perfect Getaway is actually a movie you ladies should watch, 2 couples on vacation in Hawaii, while a Bony & Clide couple go on a killing spree who is who? An awesome psychological thriller that harkens back to Nature of the Beast starring Lance Henrickson & Eric Roberts.

    I also love how they are all introduced in the opening truly shows that they are not their character tropes at all. The virgin is talking about how she slept with her professor, the scholar catches the book thrown out the window, the athlete gives book recommendations etc. then at that uncomfortable scene at the cabin when they're partying they've all reverted completely into their tropes except the fool.

For some annoying reason, they just though it was meh. I still cannot understand their reaction. I thought this was one of the best horror comedies I've ever seen. I couldn't think of a better one. The writing is excellent, the acting is great, and it's incredibly fun. Besides that, like you said, there are so many layers to it.

    You wanna know the super, crazy, secret twist of the movie?
    The Ancient Ones are supposed to be us, the audience.
    We show up to the movie theater each film to see a random group of teens get killed by a random monster.
    We have an organization trying desperately to appease us, IE: The studios that crank out cheap horror movies.
    We got mad and shook the earth when Marty died off-screen, because we knew he would come back later, like they always do.
    We get angry when we don't get the same, boring formula and "give somebody else a chance" is letting new, fresh horror movie ideas take the place of the same old, tired, rebooted crap.

    Fun Fact: Joss Wedon wanted this movie to be tied into ALL slasher movies. This is meant to be a "behind the curtain" to every other horror movie where 5+ young teens get killed by a killer (Jason, Freddy, Micheal, etc). So behind the scenes in all other horror movies is cameras we didn't know about. Joss also wanted to include the actual Jason, Micheal, Pinhead, Chucky, Freddy, Candyman, Leatherface, etc. But due to those IP's being owned by so many different studios it would have been virtually impossible to come to an agreement. So they had to create their own "killers" some based on those familiar killers we know from other movies and some from folklore and some from stories with others being completely original.

    No Roxy. You were spot on with the virgin thing. After several rewatch of the movie, the ritual was bound to fail either way because of their roles being swapped. [It was also revealed to be the final twist of the original version of the movie] What the movie gave us was;
    Jules - The Whore
    Kurt - The Athlete
    Holden - The Scholar
    Marty - The Fool
    Dana - The Virgin
    The whore was actually Dana [Kristen Connolly] because it was already implied that she was sleeping with the professor and mentioned this wasn't her first time when she was with Holden [Jesse Williams]
    The Scholar on the other hand was Kurt [Chris Hemsworth] because earlier in the movie before they drive off, he gave Dana a better book to read which shows how academic he is.
    The Athlete was Holden as shown and mentioned by Kurt that he just got back from military earlier in the movie. That and how he easily got the football when it was flown out the window.
    The Fool was easily Jules because she's clumsy and quirky.
    The Virgin was Marty because in a quick dialogue between him and Jules he mentioned how they both dated and he only kissed her once.

    • @SuddenReal
      @SuddenReal 12 дней назад +3

      "We work with what we have."
      While it's true what you're saying, it's irrelevant. We (the audience) don't know the characters from before their screen time. Yes, in this case, we do, but during the "film" part, Dana's the virgin because she's not looking for a new relation (hence, she doesn't want to have sex), Jules is the whore because she's in a relationship, making Kurt the athlete (by asociation) and Holden the scholar (because he probably won't get any since he's there to seduce Dana). And Marty, well, he's the stoner. So, if things went the way they were supposed to, the ritual still would have worked. I see it as a commentary that the audience doesn't care about the victims, just that they get killed.

    Here's a little fun fact about this movie that I'll just copy from the MovieDetails subreddit:
    "In the Cabin in the Woods (2012), the scene with the monitors was described in one sentence in the script, "there is chaos on every screen". Each kill was individually filmed and played back on the screens for this scene. Joss Wheadon said that was the most difficult part of the movie to film."
    the basically wrote themselves into a corner with a single sentence and then had to fulfil it by filming a *ton* of kills. Check out the Kill Count episode from Dead Meat to learn more about the production n' stuff

      Oh no. That was true hahaha.
      The original ending had Dana shot Marty to save the world only for the ancient ones to rise after realizing that Dana was the Whore and Marty was the Virgin all along.

    During the lake scene, the only student not to jump into the lake is Marty, who remains fully clothed on the dock. This was partially due to Fran Kranz noticeably being in as good, if not better, shape than the other male students. In the commentary for the film, the writers joke that he was "ripped like muscular Jesus" and assert that if Marty were shown being that fit it would ruin the character. This is partly also why Marty wears baggier clothes than the other students.

Also during the monster cube sequence if you look closely you can see various zombies from both left 4 dead games.

    Hi Tara & Roxy, I love your reactions so much fun! I have a few recommendations you should definitely check out. If you like the original Childs Play I think you would like Fright Night it's from 1985 cult classic. It's directed by Tom Holland same guy who directed Childs Play and also has Chris Sarandon who played the cop in Child's Play. Super 80's fun film. The 2nd recommendation is 1989's Intruder a fun 80's slasher that takes place in a grocery store. It is also directed by Sam Raimi. The 3rd is another 1985 film called Silver Bullet this film is one of my favorites. If you love Corey Haim's performance in Lost Boy's I think you will enjoy this one. My last recommendation is 1988's Waxwork. I don't want to give you to much info on these films it's more fun that way.
