I paused the video to write this then you covered it. So, here's a Blu-ray behind the scenes tid bit for ya. The young man who plays the pot head was so jacked when he got the part that they had to layer clothes on him to make him appear smaller than Chris Hemsworth. Although shorter he's wide and ripped so the extra clothing he wears hides his gains.
Perfect Getaway is actually a movie you ladies should watch, 2 couples on vacation in Hawaii, while a Bony & Clide couple go on a killing spree who is who? An awesome psychological thriller that harkens back to Nature of the Beast starring Lance Henrickson & Eric Roberts.
One of the most unique horror films I've ever seen. Producers in Hollywood have kept asking the filmmakers, "When are you going to write a sequel?" And they keep responding, "Have you seen the movie?"
Maybe not a sequel, even if you can make one about a post apocalyptic world, but what about prequels with the stories of different groups of friends against these monsters
I also love how they are all introduced in the opening truly shows that they are not their character tropes at all. The virgin is talking about how she slept with her professor, the scholar catches the book thrown out the window, the athlete gives book recommendations etc. then at that uncomfortable scene at the cabin when they're partying they've all reverted completely into their tropes except the fool.

The fact that this movie is not only a narrative, but also an allegory and satire but also retoactively could explain every other U.S. American movie is another reason this is such not just a top-notch horror film, but movie overall.
I once read a fan theory that Dana was The Fool & Marty was The Virgin since she had an affair with a professor & we aren't told anything about Marty's love life, which would be a clever subversion of the character tropes like so much else in this movie.
When I saw this, I couldn't wait to show my friends. This was 2011 and we were all about 30 years old. We're all horror fans, and comedy fans. For some annoying reason, they just though it was meh. I still cannot understand their reaction. I thought this was one of the best horror comedies I've ever seen. I couldn't think of a better one. The writing is excellent, the acting is great, and it's incredibly fun. Besides that, like you said, there are so many layers to it.
@jessetorres8738 All the "roles" were incorrect. "The Jock" was a brain and "didn't do the Alpha Male thing." "The Stoner" was the virgin. "The Blond Bombshell Slut" wasn't a real blond and had a steady boyfriend. Etc. That was part of the Spoof aspect. Subverting the tropes.
You wanna know the super, crazy, secret twist of the movie? The Ancient Ones are supposed to be us, the audience. We show up to the movie theater each film to see a random group of teens get killed by a random monster. We have an organization trying desperately to appease us, IE: The studios that crank out cheap horror movies. We got mad and shook the earth when Marty died off-screen, because we knew he would come back later, like they always do. We get angry when we don't get the same, boring formula and "give somebody else a chance" is letting new, fresh horror movie ideas take the place of the same old, tired, rebooted crap.
Great reference early on; in the opening scene when they're talking about "the glitch in 1998" that was the fault of the chem department, that refers to the movie "The Faculty."

what makes this movie even better is the fact that a big chunk of this movies effects and monsters were done practically! highly recommend the behind the scenes for this movie!
I think I remember reading somewhere that there was supposed to be a collaboration between left 4 dead 2 and cabin in the woods where the underground facility was going to be a level in the game but they couldn't get it ready in time for the release of the movie. Also during the monster cube sequence if you look closely you can see various zombies from both left 4 dead games.
the English language is amazing. how different is "let's go to the cottage in the forest" from "let's go to the cabin in the woods". but boy is the feeling you get from them different!
I remember when my friend told me about this movie. He said nothing and that I would love it, and he was right. Also, seeing Roxy crushing big time on Jess William is really cute, I love it 🤣❤️🔥👍
There is an earthquake when they pull the lever for the fool. The Ancient Ones know that Marty is still alive, and they are reacting to being lied to. I would recommend Happy Death Day, Escape Room, Ready or Not, Dead Zone, Orphan, Oculus, Cat's Eye, and A Perfect Getaway (which also has Chris Hemsworth in it).
You need to watch a video on the easter eggs of this movie. They actually break down certain scenes like the cellar and the monsters. And explain to you where they come from. And what they're related to it is really detailed and interesting
Yeah, Hemsworth did CiTW before Thor, but CiTW's release was delayed by at least a year for some reason, resulting in Thor coming out prior to this, despite being filmed afterwards.
Hi Tara & Roxy, I love your reactions so much fun! I have a few recommendations you should definitely check out. If you like the original Childs Play I think you would like Fright Night it's from 1985 cult classic. It's directed by Tom Holland same guy who directed Childs Play and also has Chris Sarandon who played the cop in Child's Play. Super 80's fun film. The 2nd recommendation is 1989's Intruder a fun 80's slasher that takes place in a grocery store. It is also directed by Sam Raimi. The 3rd is another 1985 film called Silver Bullet this film is one of my favorites. If you love Corey Haim's performance in Lost Boy's I think you will enjoy this one. My last recommendation is 1988's Waxwork. I don't want to give you to much info on these films it's more fun that way.
Roxy: this is such a pro pothead movie! Me: That's why i loved this movie. The movie subvert many horror tropes (usually the blonde, jock and stoner die early) but they made the stoner not the fool but the smartest among the group. Still my favorite horror movie of all time. Glad u watch all the staple horror movies before watching this as it satirize the classics and play with the audience expectations. Genius
This movie is based on the SCP fan fiction which makes this movie a facility were they keep monsters and contain them, its really interesting backstory ☕️
Two Zombie comedy movies I recommend, that I absolutely love that both of you should watch are Cooties 2014 (stars Elijah Wood, screenplay by Ian Brennan and Leigh Whannell (Leigh did Saw with James Wan) The other one is called Doghouse (2009), i don’t know how much of the people you know from it, but it’s a fun crazy watch. So yeah, two movies I highly recommend
Fun fact, this movie came out when the Evil Dead 2013 remake was being made and it's what made THEM go so hard with their remake. Because this just came out a year earlier and everyone was like, "What? Another cabin in the woods movie? As if!" The remake people knew this, so they made it so intense and gory that everyone had to go see it.
Fun fact : Fran Kranz who's playing the pothead, had an unbelievable body while filming this movie so the director put him in baggy clothes and he wasn't shirtless at any point because "potheads geeks" aren't supposed to look like that (Edit) : didn't see they talked about it at the end 😅
@@knockoutking3764 I mean they could but he was also more ripped than Hemsworth at this point and if your stoner looks like he can bench your jock it doesn't work for the archetypes the old ones want
Jesse Williams used to be a teacher, making him appropriate for the character who is pigeonholed into the role of The Smart Guy. Fran kranz is actually super jacked which is why his clothes are so baggy and loose.
I said they should create an TV series so we can see other creatures. They could put the cabins in different locations all over the world, such as a cabin in the mountains with an abominable snowman, for example.
I changed my mind, I would LOVE LOVE LOVE for these two to react to the Mark Flanagan’s Haunting of Hill House, Bly Manor, Fall of the House of Usher etc…. It would be content for MONTHS and I would be here for it!!!
I remember reading that Joss Whedon would bring Chris Hemsworth a bunch of Thor and Avengers comics to read on set during his down time, because he knew they'd be working together on the upcoming Avengers movie.
It’s really puts every scary movie into perspective. They’re references to the puzzle from Hellraiser the strangers eat Chucky legend Anaconda eight legged freaks killer crowns from Outer space and many more.
Super glad you guys liked this. I think it's one of the best movies in this genre and Im so thankful that you two didnt know anything about this, because one of the best things this movie has is its twists. I adore Marty, he's so sweet. Loved seeing him figure stuff out, make great quips and be protective of his friends. I dont know if you've played it, but in the scene where they zoom out and show all the monsters, there are several special infected from Left 4 Dead! The man with the saw blades through his head is a reference to hellraiser. And if you look on the whiteboard while the employees are placing bets, youll see "angry mo***ting tree" which is a reference to the tree in evil dead.

17:31 so fun fact about that wolf head. The tongue was a prop, but it was also coated in powdered sugar. It made it look dusty and much more pleasant for the actress to really go at it.
3:23 ❤ Winifred Burkle/illyria (Amy Acker)
Good ol’ Fred😢
Don’t be sad. You might be happy about where Illyria’s path leads as her story continues after the show.
@@alexanderwright1618 yh i heard in the books (SPOILERS ALL) Illyria is the one to change time or something along them lines, and give fred a life again. puts a special spot in my heart for illyria and the growth of her char ❤
Ah, the movie that got me into horror...always will have a special place in my heart
this is the perfect movie to jump into after coming off of the franchises yall just did especially Evil Dead, which is the cabin in the wood inspiration
"The Final Girls" is another good meta horror/comedy that I don't see enough people watching.
Love that movie!!
I downloaded Bette Davis Eyes because of that movie.
YES YES YES The final girls is an absolute must watch
Honestly you 2 ladies are probably one of my favorite RUclipsrs not a lot of people do horror movies and the fact that you guys are riding out all of the best ones makes me or us love you more
have you seen kat does horror movies? these two are the best, but if you want more horror reactors, check out kat.
Katwatcheshorror yep. Kat is hilarious!! 😂
I remember watching this movie with a friend and when we got to that scene where Chris’ character dies we immediately figured out what was going to happen and we just completely lost it lol
That scene will forever be hilarious
I think it was a spoiler to show the force field at the beginning (bird flying into it). Would have been a real shocker to see that come out of nowhere.
The "hero speech" right before he leaves them is epic.
@@slimmccoy8863 It’s foreshadowing so when you get to that moment you (hopefully) figure out what’s about to happen, making the whole heroic speech and inspiring music even more hilarious
Truly one of my favorite moments in any movie ever
5:46
This is so much more funny if you know or remember the anti-drug PSA of the 80s and 90s wherein the father questioning the kid asks "who taught you to do this stuff" and the kid responds "I learned it from watching you!"
I've been waiting for you two to get to this movie. The scream queens of the reject nation needed a break after the paranormal activity and slasher flicks lol.
The rewind of Roxy saying "Oh" lol 🤘
I just remember the utter confusion at the very start when seeing this in theaters. We came in when the men were talking. Me and my boyfriend were like "Are we in the right movie? Did we get here late?" lol
Thanks for reacting to this one! I absolutely love it when Roxy and Tara react to horror, especially when it’s a movie I love, super entertaining. Stoner hero for the win!
Thank you, rejects and shejects. Your reactions give me the escape I need to get through the day much love to the whole team, including ones who work behind the scenes we appreciate you all
Roxy fangirling over Jesse Williams was so cute!
5:49 This line is hilarious bc it's from a well-known anti-drug PSA from the late 80s. Look it up!
I feel like they should be old enough to know it. I was born in 85 and I know it. Just looked it up and Tara is supposedly 2 months older than me.
@@johnj4471 how old is tara? I think Roxy is around 34 or 35.
what makes this movie even better is the fact that a big chunk of this movies effects and monsters were done practically! highly recommend the behind the scenes for this movie!
Yesss i love that you guys did this one. I am still hoping for Ginger Snaps one day lol 😂❤❤
Oh damn yeah that'd be great!
I thought this movie was so smart. What a fun watch. I go back to it every year. Glad y'all liked it.
I'd like to recommend "Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon"
Definitely one of my favorites for the genre and it's not hyperbole to say it's underrated cause it truly is.
100%@@ALowe-gy5nr
I think I remember reading somewhere that there was supposed to be a collaboration between left 4 dead 2 and cabin in the woods where the underground facility was going to be a level in the game but they couldn't get it ready in time for the release of the movie. Also during the monster cube sequence if you look closely you can see various zombies from both left 4 dead games.
the English language is amazing. how different is "let's go to the cottage in the forest" from "let's go to the cabin in the woods". but boy is the feeling you get from them different!
Lol..... nothing amazing about it
So... it's not okay for him watching her, but they're totally for it when the characters switched rooms?
The hypocrisy...
Tucker and dale vs evil is one of the best comedy horror movies ever. Watch it next
You girls made me see a different point of view of this movie… I now really appreciate it
Watch " The Ritual", "The Ruins" , "It Follows" and "Cabin Fever 2002"👍
When I saw you two together, I already gave a like!!!!
The elevator purge scene is my favourite scene out of any movie ever made.
I would recommend Happy Death Day, Escape Room, Ready or Not, Dead Zone, Orphan, Oculus, Cat's Eye, and A Perfect Getaway (which also has Chris Hemsworth in it).
a standalone (not franchise) movie you MUST watch is "Dog Soldiers". the best werewolf movie ever made!
Sausages!
Wolf
I think the eagle hitting the grid thing caused the glitch that caused the tunnel not to blow
I never considered that, but it’s going in my head canon now🤣
Movies like this to recommend.... Tucker and Dale vs Evil!
they haven't done that yet??
I'm pretty sure they did that one
Ah you guys are right!
Recontextualized, this movie is basically just Monsters Inc. Only, without Mike and Sulley.
❤ESTROGEN POWA❤ The duo we didnt know we needed
I'd watch any movie with Tara & Roxy any day! 😁😍🍿
"Girls DO get it done..." -Frenchie ❤
Jesse Williams *exists*
Girls: Greys Anatomy!
Boys: Detroit Become Human!
Lol..... speak for urself..... nobody cares for that Detroit shit.....
@@Rash23215ONLY you.
@@Rash23215actually a lot of people like that game.
Hot in both
@@Rash23215nobody gives a shit about Grey's anatomy.
Q: What sound does it make when you hit a zombie with a giant coffee mug?
A: Bong.
Great vid, ladies! Sheject nation rise!!!
Came for the Rejects, Stayed for the Shejects
Love it
Roxy: this is such a pro pothead movie!
Genius
Y’all should do Total recall (90s version)
This movie is based on the SCP fan fiction which makes this movie a facility were they keep monsters and contain them, its really interesting backstory ☕️
You can't say virgin on RUclips now? Censorship is getting outta control 😅
Kiss Kiss Bang Bang (2005) is a completely different genre & yet similar vibe....must see
Please do the insidious movies! Especially the first 2!
Two Zombie comedy movies I recommend, that I absolutely love that both of you should watch are Cooties 2014 (stars Elijah Wood, screenplay by Ian Brennan and Leigh Whannell (Leigh did Saw with James Wan)
The other one is called Doghouse (2009), i don’t know how much of the people you know from it, but it’s a fun crazy watch.
So yeah, two movies I highly recommend
I mean, the WHOLE movie isn’t meant to be a comedy.
Eh
@ I personally think it was obvious that parts of it were meant to be scary/gory etc..
Awesome Movie and Work Ladies❤❤❤Greetings from Helsinki, Finland🇫🇮🇺🇸🇫🇮🇺🇸
Roxy "I wish they did sequels so we could see other groups summoned" Everyone whose seen the movie "Just wait Roxy"
This movie is so fun and underrated
Oh snap the most meta and all engrossing horror movie of all. So here for it
Fun fact, this movie came out when the Evil Dead 2013 remake was being made and it's what made THEM go so hard with their remake. Because this just came out a year earlier and everyone was like, "What? Another cabin in the woods movie? As if!" The remake people knew this, so they made it so intense and gory that everyone had to go see it.
Just hold Roxy’s hand Tara! 😂
I love you reel rejects!!! I watch your reactions almost everyday🎉
Fun fact : Fran Kranz who's playing the pothead, had an unbelievable body while filming this movie so the director put him in baggy clothes and he wasn't shirtless at any point because "potheads geeks" aren't supposed to look like that
(Edit) : didn't see they talked about it at the end 😅
That's one of the fun facts they read out after the reaction
@alexp601 oh I didn't make it this far yet
That's ridiculous! Why can't a geek or pothead have a body like that? 😂
@@knockoutking3764 I mean they could but he was also more ripped than Hemsworth at this point and if your stoner looks like he can bench your jock it doesn't work for the archetypes the old ones want
@@knockoutking3764for the sake of movie tropes 😂 trust there are plenty of “geeks” who lift
Fun Fact: Heather Langenkamp AKA Nancy Thompson from a Nightmare on Elm Street worked on the special effects for this movie with her husband.
As a stoner, I thank you for your praise, Roxy!
And omg I couldn't agree more about Jesse from Gray's anatomy. And he did Gray's anatomy first joining it in 2009
Jesse Williams used to be a teacher, making him appropriate for the character who is pigeonholed into the role of The Smart Guy. Fran kranz is actually super jacked which is why his clothes are so baggy and loose.
"Super Jacked" is very apt. Dude is shredded.
@ they described him as ripped Jesus lol
Did his students see his GIANT 🍆 in that play??
I said they should create an TV series so we can see other creatures. They could put the cabins in different locations all over the world, such as a cabin in the mountains with an abominable snowman, for example.
I changed my mind, I would LOVE LOVE LOVE for these two to react to the Mark Flanagan’s Haunting of Hill House, Bly Manor, Fall of the House of Usher etc…. It would be content for MONTHS and I would be here for it!!!
Sadly they don't really do series shows that arent actively airing 😢 they talked about it on their last live stream
@ nooooo my dreams are shattered!! Or are they? I can still hope hahaha lol!
Me too cuz midnight mass reactions are great 😭
I remember reading that Joss Whedon would bring Chris Hemsworth a bunch of Thor and Avengers comics to read on set during his down time, because he knew they'd be working together on the upcoming Avengers movie.
What's your FAVORITE Monster from the Lab???
Gotta be that Unicorn
Definitely the hillbillies family as zombies 🧟
The crawling merman
If they ever do a remake of this movie again please pick little Roxy as the second main character.
@@onlyme219 The Merman was messy asf
41:10 tara is actually unreal for the sigourney callout. i was excited for them to see her show up but she clocked it instantly 😭😂
It’s really puts every scary movie into perspective. They’re references to the puzzle from Hellraiser the strangers eat Chucky legend Anaconda eight legged freaks killer crowns from Outer space and many more.
Wow, you know right away that Wedon is involved. Almost every actor here played in the Dollhouse or his other projects.
12:00 “it’s a two-way mirror” two-way? That would just be a _window._
One-way, Rox. One-way mirror.
Lol wut? A window is a window. One way mirror and two way mirror are actually both interchangable and correct.
This is one of my favorite movies! I'm so glad you got to enjoy it!
I once read a fan theory that Dana was The Fool & Marty was The Virgin since she had an affair with a professor & we aren't told anything about Marty's love life, which would be a clever subversion of the character tropes like so much else in this movie.
Yes! Love this theory.
Roxy, Fran Kranz (the stoner, Marty), was in Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules as the professional rocker that Loded Diper wanted and had a dinner with Rodrick's family.
